ceasefire, New York City's Democratic mayoral primary, why Himmels and Hirst's stock dropped
30%, and other top news for Wednesday, June 25th. Stay informed while remaining focused on Christ with the pour-over today.
Here's your quote of the day,
If the devil cannot make us bad, he will make us busy.
—Cory Tenboom
Let's get started with some espresso shots.
A fragile Israel-Iran ceasefire didn't immediately cease all the firing.
On Monday, President Trump announced he had brokered
a, quote, complete and total ceasefire
between the two countries, ending their 12-day war.
However, hours later, Israel claimed Iran broke the ceasefire,
which Iran denies, and
retaliated by striking a radar system near Tehran.
Yesterday, Trump used colorful language to scold both nations, angrily telling them to
quote, calm down, and warning Israel that any additional attacks will be a quote, major
violation.
Since those early violations, the ceasefire appears to be holding.
All this came after Iran launched missiles at a U.S. base in Qatar, retaliation for the
U.S. bombing of Iran nuclear sites. President Trump thanked Iran for giving early notice
on the quote, very weak missile attack, which was easily intercepted and resulted in no damage or casualties.
Here's a verse to consider whether you're conducting international war diplomacy,
stuck in the middle of a tense conflict at work, or just settling sibling squabbles.
Seek peace and pursue it. The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous and his ears are open to their cry for help. Psalm 34 verses 14 through 15.
Big Apple voters hit the polls yesterday to pick their Democratic mayoral candidate.
Early results showed a tight race between former Governor Andrew Cuomo, hoping for a
political comeback after resigning in 2021 amid harassment allegations, and 33-year-old
Democratic socialist lawmaker Zoram M. Donahue, whose digital savvy campaign has energized
young voters.
Final results aren't expected until next
week due to rank choice voting. The winner will take on Republican and Independent challengers,
including now-independent incumbent Eric Adams, for the mayoral seat in November.
Meanwhile, Democratic New York Governor Kathy Hochul directed the Empire State to construct
a new zero-emissions nuclear power facility, the nation's first nuclear plant project in nearly 20 years. The
plant will likely take over a decade to build and aims to add enough electricity
to power 1 million homes.
Followers of Christ are not identified by their political affiliation, but by their
love for others.
And yes, that means loving people that you believe have unloving beliefs or stances.
Luke 6 says, If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you?
Even sinners love those who love them.
But love your enemies, do what is good, and lend, expecting nothing in return.
Then your reward will be great, and you will be children of the most high.
Hymns and Her stock just lost weight in a hurry, falling over 30% on Monday. Novo Nordisk, the drug maker behind Ozempic and WeGovi,
broke off their short-lived agreement
to sell weight loss injectables
through the U.S. telehealth company,
accusing Hims and Hers of also selling
unsafe cheap WeGovi knockoffs
and using deceptive marketing practices.
Hims and Hers hit back, alleging Novo
had been pressuring them to steer patients to Wegovi regardless of if it was the best option. It wasn't the
only big stock move. Tesla jumped 8% after launching its long anticipated
RoboTaxi service with 10 to 20 driverless vehicles in Austin, Texas.
Elon Musk promised to start scaling after a, quote, successful launch.
However, regulators are requesting more info about videos that appear to show the robo
taxis acting chaotically, including driving on the wrong side of the road.
Too often, we let eternally insignificant things, like the ups and downs of the market,
control our mood and behavior.
Seeking to steward money well is a good thing, but our hope is in Christ, not a good ROI.
Proverbs 11.28 says,
"...anyone trusting in his riches will fall, but the righteous will flourish like foliage."
With over 1,000 translations and every type of decorative edition, it's easy to forget

The Supreme Court has allowed the Trump administration to resume deportations to, quote, third countries,
which is somewhere other than their homeland.
The administration argued it would otherwise be unable to deport some criminals as countries
often refuse to take them back.
Three liberal justices dissented, saying the ruling strips critical due process protection
and allows deportations to countries committing human rights violations on prisoners.

Protesters are threatening to crash Jeff Bezos' wedding.
The Amazon Tycoon's wedding party was relocated
to a different part of the floating city
after locals and protest groups objected to their star-studded ceremony claiming the
quote wedding of the century would turn Venice already facing over tourism into
an quote amusement park for the rich. City officials have defended the
celebration saying it boosts local business. That's all we have for today.
