Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI is gaining ground in his pilgrimage toward home.
Starting point is 00:00:36 On Wednesday, Pope Francis announced his predecessor was very sick and asked for prayers. Yesterday, the Vatican announced that Pope Emeritus rested well and was lucid, but his condition remains grave. Benedict XVI served as head of the Catholic Church for prayers. An atmospheric river, a narrow channel of wind that brings water vapor from the tropics to the west coast, has brought days of heavy rain and flooding, already claiming five lives. Meanwhile, the death toll from last week's blizzard in Buffalo, New York, has grown to at least 39, and finger-pointing about how the storm was handled has begun. Bill Cosby says he plans on returning to stand up in 2023, but will he still talk about pudding? After serving three years for criminal sexual assault, the Pennsylvania Supreme Court overturned the comedian's conviction in 2021, citing due process violations. Cosby lost a civil trial this summer, and five women filed a new lawsuit against him this month.
Starting point is 00:04:42 The Way of Water found its sea legs, becoming the fastest movie this year to cross $1 billion in sales, with $300 million of that total from the US. According to director James Cameron, it's halfway to the break-even point of $2 billion. Avatar 3 is slated to arrive in theaters in 2024, with two additional sequels also in the works.
