Did you miss those high prices at the pump? Well, you're in luck. The Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries and its allies, known as OPEC+, are slashing oil output by 2 million barrels a day. That's roughly 2% of the world's daily oil supply, to increase oil prices, which have dipped due to recession fears. Uncle Sam isn't just disappointed, he's mad. The move will likely increase gas prices and could push the global economy closer to a recession, just days after the World Trade Organization said its view for 2023 has darkened. Slashing oil production also undermines Western sanctions on Russia, an OPEC Plus member. While other OPEC Plus countries are publicly saying war is bad, this decision is a not-so-subtle way of saying they still view

Russia as an ally. Regardless of what happens to oil prices, everything will eventually end well for followers of Christ. Our hope is never contingent on economic outcome. It's much more secure than that. Job 12 verse 10 says, the life of every living thing is in his hand, as well as the breath of all humanity. A federal appeals court ruled on Wednesday that the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals policy, DACA, is illegal under U.S. immigration law. Though it left the policy intact for current beneficiaries, the ruling prevents the approval of new applications. Currently, about 600,000 immigrants brought into the country illegally as children are protected under the policy. But the whole thing is precarious. DACA was implemented through executive action by President

Obama as a stopgap measure and doesn't provide a path to citizenship. The Biden administration is expected to appeal Wednesday's ruling but also called on Congress to pass permanent protections for DACA recipients, aka DREAMers, an uphill battle. The Justice Department vowed to vigorously defend the lawfulness of DACA, which is expected to eventually land before the Supreme Court. While the Bible does not speak to what policies a government should have on immigration, it specifically calls out foreigners and strangers as groups that Christians should love and treat fairly. Seek to do so in your personal life. Matthew 25 verse 35 says,

For I was hungry, and you gave me something to eat. I was thirsty, and you gave me something to drink. I was a stranger, and you took me in. drink. I was a stranger and you took me in. Ukraine is making more headlines than COVID mid-2020. U.S. officials believe that Ukraine was behind the car bomb that killed the daughter of Alexander Dugin, a close ally of Vladimir Putin's, back in August. The U.S. rebuked Ukraine for the assassination, though Ukraine denies any involvement. In addition to the admonishment, the U.S. is sending another $625 million in military aid to Ukraine, including mobile rocket launchers, mines, munitions, and mine-resistant vehicles. Ukraine has been putting past military packages to use, regaining dozens of towns as they advance deeper into the areas Russia recently annexed,

in violation of international law. Finally, in some rare non-war news, Ukraine joined Spain and Portugal's bid to host the World Cup in 2030, a sign of European solidarity and hope for the day when fighting has ended. Even when we cannot fathom how, it is possible for God's peace to be present and calm in the hearts of those hurting and afraid. Pray for the peace of God to reign in Ukraine. Philippians 4 verse 7 says, And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. Peloton cut another 500 jobs, its fourth round of layoffs this year. The stationary bike maker's stock has been steadily pedaling downhill, losing 95% of its value since December of 2020.
