The House's Republican-led impeachment inquiry into President Biden began yesterday. The House Oversight Committee spent time educating the public on what an impeachment inquiry is and outlining evidence that the president abused his public office for his family's financial gain. They highlighted documents released by an IRS whistleblower that show payments from foreign entities to Hunter Biden and rehashed testimony that then-VP Joe Biden joined his son's business calls to exchange pleasantries and sell the family brand. Three subject matter experts, including a forensic accountant, shared testimony.

Democrats seemed unimpressed and are adamant that Republicans have failed to provide evidence connecting Joe Biden to the payments and criticized Republicans for holding the inquiry instead of working to avoid the looming government shutdown. The White House simply called the hearing a baseless stunt. The world has different priorities than God does, and many eternally insignificant things are compelling for a season. Investigations into people named Biden or Trump may not be wrong to follow, but neither should they consume our attention. gathered at the Reagan Presidential Library to be scolded by hosts for ignoring prompts and talking over one another. The debate was moderated by two Fox Business hosts and a Univision anchor. Topics included the war in Ukraine, abortion, the opioid crisis, workers' rights, and former President Trump. DeSantis said that Trump, who skipped the debate in favor of speaking to autoworkers in Michigan, was missing in action and should be here. Nikki Haley delivered the most talked-about zinger, telling entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy, California Governor Gavin Newsom delivered the Democratic rebuttal in an interview with Fox News immediately after the debate, saying the GOP candidates only identified problems while President Biden has created solutions.

The U.S. Army private who defected to North Korea is back on American soil. Let's rewind. On July 18th, Private Travis King was ordered to return to the U.S. to face discipline for an assault he committed while stationed in South Korea. Instead, he joined a tour group visiting the North-South Korean border and made a mad dash for the Hermit Kingdom, where he was arrested. After weeks of crickets, the U.S. learned King was being expelled without explanation, and after a complex mediation by the Swiss, our diplomatic partner in North Korea, King was flown to Texas. He is in good health and very happy to be home. U.S. officials said they made no concessions to

At least 58 people have been arrested, including three juveniles. The police commissioner said the thefts were unrelated to protests of a decision to drop charges against a police officer involved in a fatal traffic stop. Just weeks after Senate Majority Leader Schumer chose to stop enforcing an unwritten dress code, a nod to Senator Fetterman, who prefers a hoodie, the Senate voted unanimously to adopt a formal dress code that requires a coat, tie, and slacks for men. Canadian House of Commons Speaker Anthony Rota stepped down as Speaker on Tuesday following some controversy. Last week, Rota invited a 98-year-old Ukrainian veteran to a joint parliamentary session attended by Vladimir Zelensky, calling him a hero amid two standing ovations.
