G7, the annual world leader get-together, wrapped up yesterday. Heads of state from seven major economies, plus the EU and some other invited countries, met in Canada to discuss the global economy and diplomacy. During the gathering, President Trump suggested the coalition should expand to G8 or even G9 by re-inviting Russia and potentially adding

President Trump spent yesterday in the Situation Room reportedly considering having the U.S. join Israel's attacks on Iran's nuclear facilities. Since Friday, Israel claims it has killed one of Iran's top military commanders and his replacement, established control of Iran's airspace, and destroyed multiple nuclear and
Starting point is 00:02:44 military sites. Still, experts say it will struggle to destroy Iran's deep underground uranium enrichment facilities without Uncle Sam's bunker buster bombs. So far, the U.S. has only offered defensive support to Israel, but Trump appears to be escalating his rhetoric against Iran. Yesterday, Trump said that the US knows exactly where Iran's supreme leader, Hamenei, is, but won't kill him, quote, for now, then called for Iran's, quote, unconditional surrender. On Monday, Trump urged the immediate evacuation of Tehran, a city of 9.5 million, before leaving the

Starting point is 00:03:55 Edward Moat. The man suspected of killing a Minnesota lawmaker faces multiple state and federal charges as more details emerge. Prosecutors say the 57-year-old man stalked his victims, visiting each home and taking notes before the night of the attack. He's been charged with murder and the deaths of state representative Melissa Hortman and her husband, and attempted murder charges for the deaths of state representative Melissa Hortman and her husband and attempted murder charges for the shootings of state Senator John Hoffman and his wife.
Starting point is 00:04:31 Officials report the gunman visited the homes of two other Democratic lawmakers in between the attacks. One of those lawmakers was on vacation. At the other, a responding officer mistook the suspect who did not speak for fellow law enforcement. He later texted his family saying, in part, that he, quote, went to war last night, and encouraged them to leave the house. Christians have a hard job. Imitating our just and merciful Father, we must simultaneously celebrate justice, come alongside victims in their pain, and demonstrate our love for the guilty. Starting point is 00:07:52 Ads are coming to WhatsApp. The meta-owned messaging app, which has over 3 billion users worldwide, will begin showing ads on its Updates tab and monetizing its channels feature through search ads and subscriptions. WhatsApp was sold to Facebook, now Meta, in 2014 and its staunchly anti-ads founders left in 2018, reportedly forfeiting $1.3 billion in stock over alleged pressure to introduce ads.
Starting point is 00:08:26 Purdue Pharma is paying up. Attorneys general in all 50 states and five U.S. territories have agreed to a $7.4 billion settlement with the pharmaceutical company, including $6.5 billion directly from the Sackler family, Purdue's former owners, for their, quote, critical role in the opioid crisis. The majority of the money will fund state-run addiction treatment and prevention programs. Mona Lisa may be the only one left smiling in the Louvre. Thousands of tourists were left outside
