Starting point is 00:00:00 Today's episode is brought to you by our lead sponsor, Crew. Hey, this is Joe at the pourover. And this is Zan at the pourover. The TPO store just got to glow up. So if you want to read and rep Christentered news, check out the link in the show notes to find your new favorite tea, hoodie, or mug. Now for the headlines. Today, we're talking about what Epstein Associate Galane Maxwell said in her
Starting point is 00:00:30 interview with the DOJ, the kickoff to college football, updates from Texas and California on redrawing district maps, and other top news for Monday, August 25th. Stay informed while remaining focused on Christ with the pour over. Here's your quote of the day. I would maintain that thanks are the highest form of thought, and that gratitude is happiness doubled by wonder. G.K. Chesterton. Let's get started with some espresso shots. The public is getting new Jeffrey Epstein Dietz. Friday, the Justice Department released the transcript of Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche's
Starting point is 00:01:16 two-day interview with Galane Maxwell, who was convicted of aiding Epstein in trafficking minors. During the interview, Maxwell stated, President Trump was, quote, never inappropriate with anybody during his acquaintance with her, and quote, was a gentleman in all respects. Former President Bill Clinton never visited Epstein's private island. There is no Epstein, quote-unquote, black book. She does not believe he died by suicide, but she didn't know of any reason why he would have been murdered.
Starting point is 00:01:47 The DOJ also sent 33,000-plus pages of Epstein-related documents to Congress for thorough review. The House Oversight Committee plans to make the files public after redacting explicit material and victim's identification, saying around 3% contain new information. We may never know the full truth about Jeffrey Epstein, but our ultimate source of security doesn't come from having all the answers. It comes from Christ, who knows all things, executes perfect justice,
Starting point is 00:02:25 and will make all things right in the end. As you wait for that day, celebrate the patience of your merciful father and live holy lives in anticipation of his coming. 2 Peter 3, verse 9 says, The Lord does not delay his promise, as some understand delay, but is patient with you, not wanting any to perish, but all to come to repentance. Hope your chips and dips are started. Stocked because college football is back.
Starting point is 00:03:02 Week Zero opened in Dublin, Ireland, where number 22, Iowa State edged out number 17, Kansas State 2421, in a sloppy, turnover-filled game. Back on this side of the pond, other openers included victories for Kansas, Hawaii, Western Kentucky, and Nichols State, who upset FCS No. 5 incarnate word. Now, the real feast begins.
Starting point is 00:03:27 Week 1 kicks off Thursday with No. 25, Boise State versus South Florida. And on Friday, number 12, Illinois faces Western Illinois. Later this weekend will come heavyweight clashes like number one Texas at number three Ohio State and number nine LSU at number four Clemson. Preseason polls have Texas, Penn State, and Ohio State sitting atop the rankings. It's year two of the 12-team playoff format, so every early stumble still matters. Sports are a good gift. They're fun, they're unifying, but they must stay in their place.
Starting point is 00:04:09 They can be used to glorify the Lord, but they shouldn't become idols or consume our hearts. 1 Corinthians 1031 says, So whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do everything for the glory of God. The Texas Senate approved the one big beautiful map bill on Saturday. At the urging of President Trump, the map redraws the lone star state's congressional districts in an effort to turn five seats red and solidify Republican control of the U.S. House after the 26 midterm elections. The bill was passed on a party-line vote after eight hours of debate. Now, it heads to the desk of Governor Abbott for a signature.
Starting point is 00:05:00 Critics say the pre-census cartography sets a bad precedent and disenfranchises voters. Democrats are promising to challenge it in court. Meanwhile, California's retaliatory redistricting, meant to turn five seats blue, just got Democratic Governor Gavin Newsom's signature. Unlike its cowboy counterpart, the Surfer State's plan requires voter approval this November. As you look toward November 26, steer clear of both escapism,
Starting point is 00:05:38 everything will be better once blank happens, and anxiety will be in trouble if blank happens. Walk in righteousness, justice, and gratitude today, trusting our good God for tomorrow. James 4, verses 13 through 17 says, Come now you who say, Today or tomorrow we will travel to such and such a city and spend a year there and do business and make a profit.
Starting point is 00:06:03 Yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring, what your life will be. For you are like vapor that appears for a little while, then vanishes. Instead, you should say, if the Lord wills, we will live and do this or that. So it is sin to know the good and yet not do it. With over 1,000 translations in every type of decorative edition, it's easy to forget how many people can't even get their hands on a single copy of the Bible in their native language.
Starting point is 00:06:39 This is why we've partnered with Crewe. Crew has missionaries in almost every country, but they need more Bibles. One missionary said, I have never seen such a thirst for the Word of God in my country. Let's quench that thirst. For just $24 a month, you can provide three people with Bibles every month. As a bonus, Crew will provide meals to 12 hungry individuals through their humanitarian ministry and send you a free coffee mug from the pourover.

Kilmar-Abrego-Garcia was released from jail Friday, but the Trump administration hopes to re-deport him to Uganda, called him. volume, a quote, monster.
Starting point is 00:07:55 The 30-year-old Salvadoran was returned to the U.S. to face human smuggling charges in June, three months after being deported to El Salvador in error. Abrago Garcia's lawyers say the government is trying to coerce him into pleading guilty. The Menendez brothers were denied parole by a California board last week. Lyle and Eric, convicted in 1996 of murdering their parents in 1989, must wait 18 plus months to petition again. Prosecutors argued the brothers wanted their inheritance, but advocates want Governor Newsom to reverse the parole decision
Starting point is 00:08:34 or grant broader clemency, saying the two were abused and acting in self-defense. A federal judge blocked the White House from withholding funding from, quote, sanctuary jurisdictions. Sixteen cities and counties led by San Francisco sued in February, arguing that the Trump admin was unlawfully trying to force local officials to cooperate with immigration arrests, which they say would discourage undocumented immigrants from reporting crimes. The DOJ promised to continue fighting policies that, quote, benefit criminal illegal aliens.
Starting point is 00:09:12 Federal agents came knocking on John Bolton's door Friday. FBI teams searched the former Trump advisor's Maryland Home and D.C. office in a probe into mishandled classified documents. Bolton has become a sharp critic of President Trump's policies and national security decisions. VP J.D. V.P. J.D. Vance said the raids were driven by the law, and quote, not at all, end quote, political payback. The dog days of summer are hitting the West Coast hard. About 1.2 million people were under extreme heat risk from Washington to Arizona on Saturday, with highs in Tucson, sizzling,
Starting point is 00:09:53 near 107 degrees. The heat wave is fueling the picket fire in Napa, California, where over 1,000 first responders are working to suppress the 6,500-acre blaze threatening the region's vineyards.
