You cannot change the way you feel until you change the way you think, because your thoughts will determine the way you feel. Tony Evans. Let's get started with some espresso shots.
Starting point is 00:00:28 The Russia-Ukraine war is nearing its somber half-birthday with the opposite of celebration. Saturday, a Ukrainian drone crashed into Russia's Black Sea Fleet headquarters. The damage is yet to be determined, and it's unclear if the collision was intentional or if Russian forces shot it down. Also this weekend, Darya Dugina, the daughter of Putin's close ally, was killed in a suspected car bombing outside Moscow. Her father, Russian philosopher Alexander Dugin, known as Putin's brain, may have been the intended target. But the Biden administration is sending Ukraine another present $775 million in military aid. The Pentagon's 19th aid package brings the total U.S. military aid to Ukraine to $10.6 billion. Few industries caught a nastier case of COVID than movie theaters, and now the world's second largest theater chain, Cineworld Group, which owns all 500 regal cinema theaters in the U.S., is preparing to file for bankruptcy. Cineworld's numbers are about as good as Cats the movie. They have $8.9 billion in debt and only $1.8 billion in revenue. Their stock is down 93.45% in the last year, and there are 95 million
Starting point is 00:02:02 moviegoers in 2021 compared to 275 million in 2019. The pandemic didn't just shut down theaters, it changed the industry. Fewer big-budget movies are being completed, and many that are end up released directly to a streaming platform plus. At least for now, Regal Cinema locations will continue to operate, so there's no need to change your plans on where to watch all three hours of Avatar, The Way of the Water, in theaters this December. Here's a verse to consider when you're changing times bankrupt your business. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. Hebrews 13 8. The Chinese government is on the hot seat. Actually, most seats in China are toasty.
Starting point is 00:02:43 The summer has been the hottest and driest on record, disrupting daily life and the economy. Extreme temperatures have dried up rivers, threatened crops and livestock, shut down factories, and prompted the first drought emergency of the year to be issued this week. The Chinese government is spending $44 million in disaster relief for some of the hardest-hit areas and industries, and they're turning to measures such as cloud seeding—that's introducing chemicals to clouds to incite rainfall, and spraying water-retaining agents on crops to limit evaporation. Next door, India is also facing extreme weather. Intense monsoon rains in northern India have caused flash floods, leaving at least 40 people dead and others missing. Large-scale weather events and natural disasters remind us that all of the world has been affected
Starting point is 00:03:24 by sin. But Christians can look forward to an eternity where there's redemption not just for people, but for creation itself. Sermons are great, we love Christian books, and of course, watching interpretive dances of Christian history is our favorite pastime. But there's no substitute for actually reading the Bible. There's just one problem. There are literally hundreds of different English translations of the Bible. Our favorite translation is the one you will actually read. And for us, that's the CSB. The Christian Standard Bible is the product of over 100 biblically-minded scholars from 17 denominations dedicating years
