Starting point is 00:00:00 — music — John O'Donoghue. Let's get started with some espresso shots. A rare December tornado outbreak swept across six states Friday night and into Saturday morning. The storm spawned multiple tornadoes and left a path of devastation in its wake. Experts think that one of them, dubbed the Quad State Tornado, made its way across four states in four hours. The National Weather Service will confirm if it was one continuous twister. If it was, it will set the record for the longest long-track tornado in U.S. history. Twelve people died across Illinois, Arkansas, and Tennessee,
Starting point is 00:01:00 and at least 70 people lost their lives in Kentucky. Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear said he expects that number to grow as more than 50 people are still missing. The majority of those missing were working in a now-destroyed candle factory in one of the hardest-hit cities, Mayfield, Kentucky. Governor Beshear activated the Kentucky National Guard to help respond, declaring a state of emergency. Saturday afternoon, President Biden said that he was directing an immediate surge of federal resources, including FEMA personnel, food, and water to the affected areas. Starting point is 00:02:23 the fastest rate in nearly 40 years. What's blowing up the balloon? It's complicated, but President Biden insists that supply chain issues are the main culprit and maintains that the $2 trillion Build Back Better bill won't further inflate the problem. Republicans aren't so sure. Also not so sure, the 69% of Americans who disapprove of how President Biden is handling the issue, with some directly blaming government spending. It's yet to be seen which way Senator Manchin's pivotal vote will swing on the BBB bill. Biden hopes to convince the moderate Democrat to lend his support in a meeting later this week. Rising levels of inflation can cause rising levels of anxiety, but times of uncertainty can also be a reason for us to grow in our trust towards Jesus.

More than 100 people were inside a trailer heading to the U.S. southern border when the truck flipped while taking a sharp turn outside the city of Tuxtla Gutierrez. Inspired by Texas's new abortion law, Governor Newsom, a Democrat, pledged to empower Californians to sue anyone who manufactures, distributes, or sells an assault weapon up to $10,000. Republicans supporting Texas's citizen-enforced fetal heartbeat abortion law contest the right to bear arms is written in a constitutional amendment,
Starting point is 00:05:08 unlike the right to an abortion. After the Kellogg's Workers Union, which is currently on strike, rejected management's latest contract offer, the iconic American brand announced that it would hire permanent non-union replacements. This did not sit well with some on Reddit and TikTok, who organized users to spam Tony the Tiger with fake applications, which crashed their website. The swell of smash-and-grab robberies across U.S. cities isn't slowing. In Chicago, a team stole $2 million worth of wristwatches, while mobs of people broke windows and snatched luxury purses
