It's official, the Supreme Court of the United States has overturned Roe v. Wade. Roe was the Supreme Court's landmark 1973 decision that ruled that abortion was a constitutionally protected right. It meant that, for nearly 50 years, there were effectively no restrictions on abortions before the point of viability. On Friday, the Supreme Court overruled Roe in Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health. Without the constitutional protections, the legality of abortion is once again determined by each state. Where do the states currently stand? It's a mixed bag. There are differences, based on gestational age, exclusions, enforcement, and more that make each state's stance unique, but broadly speaking, abortions

became illegal in six states after the verdict was announced, 16 states are expected to make abortion illegal in the coming days or months, 20 are maintaining or expanding abortion access that was provided under Roe, and the remaining eight have yet to decide. Thousands took to the streets and cities across the U.S. to celebrate or protest, with some demonstrations leading to arrests and vandalism. President Biden called the verdict, quote, a tragic error in his address Friday afternoon, a sentiment echoed by Speaker

Pelosi. Meanwhile, Senator Graham called Friday, quote, a day to celebrate, and the Vatican praised the decision, saying it challenged the world to reflect on life issues. We are called to love everyone always. That means loving and caring for the unborn, single mothers, those who have received abortions, and people who passionately disagree with you on this topic. When discussing this news, leave others with no doubt of your love for everyone, always. 1 Corinthians 16.14 says, do everything in love. Russia has gained key ground in Ukraine. Now that Russian forces have overcome the battered city of Severodonetsk, only the city of Lysychansk blocks Russia's complete control of the Luhansk province.

On a hopeful note, the EU has authorized both Ukraine and neighboring Moldova to begin the process of gaining membership. Allied nations continue to show support for Ukraine at the G7 summit in Germany by banning imports of Russian gold. The Biden administration approved another $450 million in aid, including four medium-range rocket launchers. That brings the U.S.'s support for Ukraine to $6.1 billion in all. Putin's unpopularity in the region remains, but he's promised his only friendly neighbor, Belarusian President Lusachenska, that Russia would supply Belarus with missile systems capable of carrying nuclear warheads. Moderna announced its variant-targeted booster earlier this month, and Pfizer is reporting two vax options that provide substantially higher efficacy against Omicron. The FDA will hear their data findings tomorrow before voting on updated vaccines for fall. Ecuadorian President Guillermo Lasso has lifted the state of emergency that he declared in response to an indigenous-led strike that led to volatile protests. Lasso has agreed to sit down with Indigenous leaders to discuss their concerns over rising

costs of fuel and agriculture and demands for increased education funding. Two people are dead and at least 20 injured in Oslo, Norway, after a shooting that authorities have dubbed, quote, an Islamic terror attack. The suspect opened fire in a nightlife district that included a popular gay bar, but it's not clear if the LGBTQ community was targeted. An art heist occurred at the Orlando Museum of Art on Friday, led by the FBI. The feds seized 25 paintings by Jean-Michel Basquiat, citing doubts about their authenticity. The paintings have fetched sky-high prices at auction. We're talking between $93.1 million and $110.5 million, and the museum says they've been compliant with authorities.
