Starting point is 00:00:28 Calvin. Let's get started with some espresso shots. Hankies have been out all morning in London as Queen Elizabeth II's funeral began at 11 a.m. local time. Today's royal agenda includes a state funeral at Westminster Abbey, a funeral procession to St. George's Cathedral within Windsor Castle, and finally a committal service where the Queen's coffin is lowered into the royal vault. During her four days lying in state, people, including celebrities like David Beckham, waited in line for up to 24 hours to pay her majesty a few seconds of respect. Today's guest list includes over 500 emperors, kings, queens, prime ministers, presidents, and other world leaders creating a, quote, unprecedented security challenge. President Biden arrived yesterday, but not everyone made the nice list. Iran, North Korea, and Nicaragua were only allowed to send
Starting point is 00:01:09 representatives, while other countries, including Russia and Belarus, didn't receive an invite at all. FedEx delivered some ugly news to investors on Friday and the whole market reacted. The shipping company announced it will fall short of previous forecasts and is shuttering storefronts because the global economy has significantly worsened. FedEx stock dropped 21.4% on Friday, its biggest single-day sell-off on
Starting point is 00:01:56 record. Transportation stocks are seen as a leading indicator for the broader economy, so when FedEx shows up sick, much of Wall Street goes home with a runny nose. The Dow Jones, S&P 500, and Nasdaq all fell on Friday, piling onto the heavy losses from earlier in the week following worse-than-expected news on inflation. All major indexes have posted losses in four of the last five weeks. There may be reasons to be worried or scared about this day, month, or year, but God does not promise good days. He promises a great eternity. Stay focused great eternity. Stay focused on eternity. It changes everything. Hebrews 13, 8 says, Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.
Starting point is 00:02:41 Ukraine has recaptured more than 3,000 square miles of Russian-occupied territory, a once unthinkable feat that Western governments have called, quote, significant progress. But in a video posted on Friday, President Zelensky wasn't popping any confetti cannons. He says the recaptured land holds more evidence of war crimes, specifically that of some of the dead buried near the northeastern city of Izium, show evidence of torture. Germany and India also piled on Russia. The German government has taken temporary control of Russian-owned oil refineries in response to what the energy ministry calls an impending threat to energy security. And Indian President Narendra Modi, long considered an ally to Putin, openly rebuked the Russian president during a televised gathering in Uzbekistan, saying that, quote, today's era is not of war, with Putin sitting beside him. It was awkward.
Starting point is 00:03:25 Do not grow weary. Continue praying for God to move powerfully to fight injustice throughout the world, especially in Ukraine. Psalm 10, 17, and 18 says, Lord, you have heard the desire of the humble. You will strengthen their hearts. Starting point is 00:03:50 The United Nations says portions of the East African country will likely graduate from food emergency to outright famine within months. It's the highest classification of a food crisis, indicating a significant death rate from outright starvation. It's no secret what pushed Somalia to this point, drought and the war in Ukraine. East Africa is experiencing their worst drought in 40 years, which has left tens of millions of people without access to clean water, killed millions of livestock, and decimated crops. Meanwhile, 90% of Somalia's wheat came from Russia and Ukraine, no longer, and humanitarian aid has been focused on Europe.

The judge also denied the DOJ's request to retain access to the classified documents, but the department is appealing. Hurricane Fiona made landfall over southwestern Puerto Rico yesterday as a Category 1. Ahead of landfall, the island's power grid faltered, leaving the country's 1.4 million residents without power. Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, and Turks and Caicos are prepping for heavy rainfall as Fiona heads back out to sea. The migrants flown to Martha's Vineyard have been moved to a military base in Massachusetts, but the national debate they started rages on. Democratic attorneys are threatening legal action, claiming that migrants were misled, but Republicans say the relocation was a legal and effective way to highlight the crisis at the southern border.
