It contains rules outlining what kinds of gifts the justices and their families can accept and formalizes when justices are expected to recuse themselves from cases, but notably lacks any means of enforcement. In a statement, the high court said the document codifies unwritten rules that justices already followed and was meant to dispel any misunderstanding that the Supremes regard themselves as unrestricted by any ethics rules. It follows a series of recent controversies involving Clarence Thomas, Sonia Sotomayor, Sam Alito, and Neil Gorsuch, and critics remain largely unsatisfied,
Starting point is 00:01:17 though Senate Majority Leader Schumer called it an important first step. Here's a verse to consider whether you think justices are unjust or doing just fine. From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded. And for the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked. Luke chapter 12, verse 48. There's a leadership shuffle across the pond. Across the channel, violent protests swept across Spain this week after the government proposed pardoning hundreds of people who took part in Catalan's illegal failed secession from Spain in 2017. Protesters say the Socialist Workers' Party made the deal with Catalan pro-independence parties to win

Mark 12, verse 29 through 31 says, The most important commandment, answered Jesus, is this, Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.
Starting point is 00:03:09 The second is this. Love your neighbor as yourself. There is no commandment greater than these. The agents responded to three people trying to muscle their way into an unoccupied Secret Service SUV. No one was struck and the suspects fled the scene. On Monday, another presidential
Starting point is 00:03:45 family suffered a loss. Former President Trump's older sister, Mary Ann Trump Berry, a retired federal judge, was found dead at her home at the age of 86. The cause of death was not clear. Her brother's campaign didn't immediately respond with a comment, but his eldest son, Donald Jr., called it a rough day for myself and my family. The way we respond to our political enemy's struggles reveals a lot about our character. Remember, Jesus called for a radical response to those we oppose, prayer. Matthew 5, verse 44 through 45 says, But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be children of your Father in heaven.
