Hey there, this is Joe.
And this is Peter.
Today, we're talking about the U.S. and Iran announcing a peace deal,
Space X making a record-breaking debut on the stock market,
the Nix, the Carolina Hurricanes, and U.S. men's national team wins,
and other top headlines for Monday, June 15th.
Stay informed while remaining focused on Christ with the pourover.
Here is your quote of the day.
Revival is a renewed conviction of six.
sin and repentance, followed by an intense desire to live in obedience to God.
It is giving up one's will to God in deep humility.
Charles Finney.
Let's get started with some espresso shots.
The U.S. and Iran have reached a peace deal.
Pakistan's prime minister was the first to announce a deal, saying, quote,
both sides have declared the immediate and permanent termination of military operations on all
fronts, including in Lebanon, and that an official signing will take place in Switzerland on
Friday. President Trump confirmed the news saying, quote,
congratulations to all, and promising oil will flow once the deal is inked.
Details of the deal are not confirmed, but reportedly include
lifting the U.S. naval blockade, reopening the strait of Hermuz,
ending sanctions of Iranian oil and energy, and Iran-discipline,
exposing of all enriched uranium.
President Trump suggested last week,
a deal could be signed Sunday,
but doubts rose when an Israeli strike on Hezbollah in Beirut, Lebanon,
killed three yesterday morning.
As of writing, Israel has not commented on the U.S. Iran deal.
Let's celebrate good news without placing our hope in earthly peace or prosperity.
Instead, focus on the unchangeable end to this story.
Our God on the Threat,
in a renewed world, ruling unchallenged forever.
Live today in light of that happy ending.
2 Peter 3, verses 10 through 12 says,
But the day of the Lord will come like a thief.
On that day, the heavens will pass away with a loud noise.
The elements will burn and be dissolved,
and the earth and the works on it will be disclosed.
Since all these things are to be dissolved in this way,
it is clear what sort of people you should be in holy conduct and godliness,
as you wait for the day of God and hasten its coming.
The New York Knickerbockers are NBA champions for the first time in 53 years.
The Knicks beat the Spurs 94 to 90 to win Game 5 Saturday night,
with finals MVP Jalen Brunson scoring 45 points to help erase a 16-point deficit.
The NYPD says 63 people were arrested as some celebrations turned riotous.
A teenager was shot and school buses that transport.
World Cup fans were torched.
On the ice, the Carolina Hurricanes stormed past the Vegas Golden Knights yesterday
to hoist their first Stanley Cup since 2006.
Meanwhile, the Stars and Stripes beat Paraguay 4-1 in their first World Cup match.
Stryker Fuller and Balligan found the back of the net twice,
and Captain Christian Pulisic left at halftime with a left calf injury.
Their next game is against Australia on Friday.
By the way, if you're interested in learning a bit more about the World Cup, go back and listen to Saturday's TPO Explains episode on soccer or football's big tournament.
Here's a verse to consider whether you're basking in triumph or stinging in defeat.
Death has been swallowed up in victory.
Where death is your victory?
Where death is your sting?
The sting of death is sin and the power of sin is the law, but thanks be to God.
God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
1 Corinthians 15, verses 54 through 57.
SpaceX blasted into the public markets on Friday.
The rocket company sold 555.6 million shares at $135 each to raise $75 billion, making it the largest
IPO in history.
The stock price continued to soar throughout the day, closing at $1,6,000.
$1, up 19%, making SpaceX the sixth most valuable U.S. listed company at $2.1 trillion,
nearly double Tesla's $1.2 trillion valuation.
Elon Musk ended the day with a personal net worth of $1.1 trillion, making him the world's
first-ever trillionaire.
SpaceX is using the $75 billion it raised, along with profits from its Starlink satellite
internet service to reinvest in its cash-burning rocket and AI business.
The company plans to build AI data centers in space, help return man to the moon in
2008, and ultimately build a self-sustaining city on Mars.
Pray with us.
Giver of every good gift, I acknowledge that the gift of wealth comes with a big, bold,
warning label.
Protect me from the thorns of cravings that will only choke out healthy growth.
Help me see and root out any love of money that has lodged in my soul and burrowed more deeply than I can perceive.
Cut it out so that it will never bear the fruit of envy, greed, autonomy, and haughtiness,
which will lead me away from the faith and pierce me with many pangs.
Wiseen me to discern prudence from greed, stewardship from idolatry,
ambition from pride, and gratitude from gluttony. Amen.
Hey, it's Zan from the Pourover.
I've been making a purposeful effort to eat more seafood because I know it's packed with nutrients and I feel better when I do.
But finding quality seafood where I live is a feat.
That's why I started ordering from Wild Alaskan.
They deliver 100% wild-caught, never-frammed seafood like coho salmon and Pacific halibut straight to my door.
It comes perfectly portioned and frozen right off the boat, locking in taste, texture, and nutrients like Omega-3s.
so it's both delicious and super easy to prep a quick, nutritious dinner for my family.
My first box from Wild Alaskan Company definitely made me realize not all fish is the same.

In other brews, here's a rapid round of updates.
Switzerland voted yesterday to keep its melting pot melting.
Roughly 55% of voters rejected a referendum to cap the population at 10 million.
It's currently at 9.1 million, which would have threatened ties with the EU, which is Switzerland's largest trading partner.
The proposal was championed by the right-wing Swiss People's Party, who said surging immigration is straining social services and driving up rent.
The U.S. reportedly killed the leader of the Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua in an air strike Friday.
President Trump posted that U.S. Southern Command delivered a, quote, swift and lethal kinetic strike,
executing Niño Guerrero, long-time leader of the group, which the U.S. has designated a terrorist organization.
Venezuelan authorities confirmed their involvement, calling it a, quote, joint operation.
On Friday, the DOJ approved Paramount's $11 billion Warner Brothers acquisition,
uniting CBS, CNN, and HBO to create one production company to rule them all.
The deal cleared its biggest hurdle, but California's Attorney General is still investigating and could block it.
Hollywood creatives fear job cuts and industry consolidation, with over 5,500 signing an open letter opposing the deal.
Solar energy is coming in a lot.
Hot. New data showed that solar supplied more U.S. electricity at 12.8% than coal at 12.2% for the first
time in May. The Sun is now America's third largest electricity supplier, behind gas and nuclear,
and it's just getting warmed up. Solar production is up 17% year over year, while energy from coal
has dropped 11% in the last year. Taylor Swift notched another.
accolade, youngest woman included in the songwriter's Hall of Fame. Swift, who is 36, was inducted
alongside other lyrical stars, including Kenny Loggins, Alanis Morissette, and kisses Gene Simmons
and Paul Stanley. Jimmy, Mr. Beast Donaldson, who's 28, also had a celebratory weekend after
becoming the first person to cross 500 million YouTube subscribers on Friday.
That's all the news we have for you today. But here's some good news you can take with you.
you as you start your week. Christ has died and Christ is risen and Christ will come again someday.

This is from our listener, Polly, who says this podcast is a game-changer.
for me. I have struggled with keeping up with the news for years, and now I'm up to date, and start my day
with positive Jesus-centered news. Thank you. No, Polly, thank you. We are grateful for all of your
support. Have a great Monday, and we'll catch you Wednesday. Fly to space? Check. Walk on the moon? Check. Give
his life to Jesus? That took him a little longer. Astronaut Charlie Duke was the voice in mission control
when Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin landed on the moon.
He helped navigate the Apollo 13 crisis,
and during Apollo 16, he became a moonwalker himself,
spending three full days on the lunar surface.
Today, he's one of only four living moonwalkers.
But after reaching the heavens,
life back on Earth felt empty.
His marriage was crumbling,
his kids were hurting,
success hadn't fixed what mattered most.
Then came a life-changing encounter,
with Jesus.
