Starting point is 00:00:29 alleged poor conditions at a New Jersey of, ice facility leading to protests. Israel escalating attacks in Lebanon and Gaza and other top news for Friday, May 29th. Stay informed while remaining focused on Christ with the pourover. Here's your quote of the day. Humility is to make a right estimate of oneself. Charles Spurgeon. Let's get started with some espresso shots. Uncle Sam knocked five Iranian drones from the sky over the Strait of Hormuz Wednesday. The U.S. also struck a drone control station in Iran's Banda Abbas before a sixth drone could launch, calling both moves, quote, measured purely defensive. Tehran responded by dawn yesterday, claiming it hit a U.S. airbase in Kuwait in retaliation and as a, quote, serious warning to Washington.
Starting point is 00:01:27 Iranian state media said it received a draft framework that would reopen the straight within a month, a claim the White House dismissed as, quote, a complete fabric. Trump drew a harder line Wednesday, warning the U.S. would, quote, watch over the straight, but, quote, nobody's going to control it. Meanwhile, a new analysis warned that Washington, already strained from assisting Ukraine, has now burned through 45 to 50 percent of key missile stockpiles, which could take up to four years to restock. War puts the evil of this world on full display and reminds us of the dire need for the ultimate redemption of this world. Jesus came as light to shine in the darkness. Pray that the Middle East would experience the darkness penetrating light of Christ. John 1-5 reminds us that light shines in the darkness and yet the darkness did not overcome it. Conditions at a New Jersey ice facility have sparked hunger strikes inside and six days of protests outside.
Starting point is 00:02:42 Protests began last Friday outside Delaney Hall after roughly 300 detainees launched. to hunger and labor strike over case delays and, quote, inhumane conditions, citing rotten food, poor ventilation, and inadequate medical care. The 1,000-bed Newark Ice facility holds migrants of varying immigration statuses, including those detained during routine check-ins and green card interviews. The attacks defied a request from President Trump to spare Lebanon's capital city.

The ongoing military escalation has dealt blows to the fraying April 17th ceasefire days ahead of scheduled peace talks in Washington. God of wisdom and might, the chaos of our sin sickness is splintering across your good world, threatening order and peace and goodness and beauty.
Starting point is 00:05:34 The cities we've built as paragon's of human achievement have become epicenters of tension and turmoil. The borderlines we've drawn across your creation have become places of contention and violence. As provocations threaten to spiral into chaos, we cling to you, our fortress and hiding place, We are waiting for you to bring your reign of peace. Amen.
