While he never received the notoriety of some of his peers, he had quite the rap sheet. He co-founded Al-Qaeda in 1988, helped mastermind decades of terrorist attacks, including September 11th,
Starting point is 00:00:44 and led Al-Qaeda after Osama bin Laden was killed in 2011. President Biden personally authorized the drone strike on al-Zarahi, who was killed while standing on a balcony in Kabul, Afghanistan. A CIA official said there's no evidence of any other loss of life. His presence in Kabul is raising questions. When Uncle Sam pulled out of Afghanistan, the Taliban promised it would not allow terror groups to operate in the country. But al-Zarahi was living minutes away from
Starting point is 00:01:09 government buildings in the country's capital. The Taliban denied any wrongdoing and condemned the attack. One of the hardest and most humbling pills to swallow in the Bible is that our sins are no less damning than anyone else's. And apart from God's grace, we're no better. Yes, that includes terrorists. Romans 3 verse 23 through 24 says, For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. They are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus. With football season right around the corner, some last-minute off-season news was due for the NFL, whose first preseason game is tomorrow, not to alarm anyone. Suspensions led the headlines. Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson has been suspended
Starting point is 00:01:51 without pay for six games over sexual misconduct allegations involving as many as 30 women. Miami Dolphins owner Stephen Ross was also suspended and received a hefty fine and cost the team two draft picks for violating the league's anti-tampering policy by communicating with Tom Brady and Sean Payton. In a different kind of preseason ranking, the Dallas Cowboys were named the NFL's most valuable team. Valued at more than $7.6 billion, America's team is actually the most valuable franchise in all of sports. Here's a verse to consider when realizing you'll never own an NFL team. Nice to know. A man who stormed the Capitol on January 6 with a gun, zip ties, and threats against Speaker Pelosi on his lips was sentenced to seven years in prison, the longest January 6th-related sentence to date. Bill Russell, 11-time NBA champion and five-time NBA MVP with the Boston Celtics, passed away Sunday at the age of 88.
