The Biden administration has announced that 2020 will officially end in May. On May 11th, the public health emergency issued in response to COVID-19 will end, after just shy of 40 months. Ending the declaration means that the government will no longer foot the bill for COVID tests or vaccines. Other changes stemming from the end of the pandemic response include the reduction of Medicare payments to hospitals, increased out-of-network costs for Medicare enrollees, and disenrollment of potentially millions from Medicare. It could also bring the end of Title 42,

which allows officials to quickly turn migrants away at the border. The Trump-era policy has been caught in long-running litigation, with the Supreme Court expected to issue a ruling on it in June, unless the clock strikes midnight on it, too, in May. The pandemic has impacted everyone, but not equally. Though we're all anxious to put COVID in the rearview mirror, pray for those whom this legislation may pose additional challenges. James 5, verse 16 says, The prayer of a righteous person is very powerful in its effect. Fallout from a deadly traffic stop continues to grow. On Monday, the Memphis Police Department confirmed two more officers have been placed on administrative leave in connection to Tyree Nichols' death.

One officer was not present during most of the violence but was involved in the preceding traffic stop and can be heard on video saying he tased Nichols and hope other officers stomped him. No information has been released on the second officer. Meanwhile, the Memphis Fire Department announced it dismissed three EMTs previously placed on leave for violating multiple policies and protocols by their actions and inactions on the scene. All this follows a statement by the Memphis Police Chief that the department has been unable to substantiate the probable cause required to pull over Nichols in the first place. Tyree Nichols' funeral is today at a church in Memphis. While you likely have no control over the decisions made in the wake of Tyree's death,

you can control how you speak about them. Leave others with no doubt of your love for everyone involved, even for people whose actions you do not support. At least 100 people were killed and over 200 injured in a suicide bombing at a Pakistani mosque on Monday. Most of the worshippers were reportedly law enforcement officials, and it's unclear how the bomber got through the heavily secured area. Initially, the Pakistani Taliban took credit for the blast. Later, the group's main spokesperson

denied any involvement, instead blaming the attack on a splinter faction and calling mosques sacred spaces. The Pakistani city of Peshawar has seen an uptick in violence over the past year following the end of the ceasefire between the Pakistani government and the Pakistani Taliban, which has waged an insurgency in Pakistan over the past 15 years, seeking stricter enforcement of Islamic laws. Overall, terrorist attacks in Pakistan have been on the rise, with a 28% year-over-year increase in 2022. Pray for the light of Christ to shine brightly in areas where there is so much division, anger, and bloodshed.
