Transportation tragedies littered headlines to start the week. An Amtrak train collided with a dump truck and derailed in Missouri on Monday, killing four people and injuring at least 150 more. Investigations are still underway to determine why the truck was on the tracks at an intersection locally known to be dangerous. The derailment came one day after three were killed and another three injured when an Amtrak struck a car at an unmarked crossing in Brentwood, California. In San Antonio, Texas, at least 50 people were discovered dead in and around a tractor trailer carrying over 100 people. With no sign of water or AC, the deaths appeared to be due to heat exhaustion. Three individuals have been detained in connection with what is believed to be a trafficking operation to smuggle migrants into

the U.S. to work. The promise of heaven does not remove the pains of this world, but it does give us hope, strength, and peace during life's most difficult seasons. Wade continues to unfold across the U.S. There has been a flurry of mixed legal rulings. A court allowed to ban abortions after six weeks in Tennessee to take place. State judges temporarily blocked bans on almost all

abortions in Texas and Utah. The Biden administration is reportedly weighing following in the footsteps of some major companies like Starbucks, Netflix, and many more, and helping women access out-of-state abortions. Meanwhile, Democratic governors are pitching legal abortions in contrast to Republicans' tax breaks in bids to entice companies to their states. On social media, posts offering to obtain abortion pills on others' behalf have flooded timelines prompting Facebook, or Meta, to clarify that information on how to access medications is allowed but selling or gifting pharmaceuticals is not. When discussing the recent SCOTUS verdict,

After missing a bond payment deadline Sunday, Russia defaulted on international debt for the first time since 1918. Roughly 100 million owed in dollars and euros failed to reach investors after Western sanctions thwarted Russian access to global capital markets. The day after the default, Russian bombers hit a crowded shopping mall in the central Ukrainian city of Kremenchuk, killing at least 16 and wounding 60. The Biden administration announced plans to send missile defense systems to Ukraine and extension notices

to U.S. troops in Poland, and NATO announced they'd update their high-readiness troop presence from 40,000 to 300,000. Speaking of NATO, a new order of team t-shirts might need to be placed soon. Turkey dropped its opposition to Finland and Sweden's membership paving the way for them to join the alliance. take control of the presidential SUV and drive to the Capitol on January 6th, and that former chief of staff Meadows and Rudy Giuliani sought pardons from Trump over the day's events. A Japanese man assisting his city's rollout of COVID release funds woke up in the street after a long night of drinking, only to realize he'd lost two USB drives containing personal information of over 460,000 people. Two days later, police found both password-protected, data-encrypted drives inside a bag outside of an apartment building. It's primary season, and yesterday, voters in New York, Illinois, Colorado, and Oklahoma hit the polls. Illinois' redistricting meant that two sets of incumbent House representatives squared off, a political rarity, and billionaires' interest in the Illinois governor's mansion may set off the

most expensive non-presidential race in U.S. history. Ghislaine Maxwell, who once hung out with presidents, royals, and billionaires, was sentenced to 20 years in prison yesterday for trafficking underage girls for disgraced financer Jeffrey Epstein to abuse.
