If you walk in my statutes and keep my commandments and perform them, then I will give you rain in its season.
The land shall yield its produce and the trees of the field shall yield their fruit.
Your threshing shall last till the time of vintage and the vintage shall last till the time of sowing.
You shall eat your bread to the full and dwell in your land safely.
I will give peace in the land, and you shall lie
down, and none will make you afraid. I will rid the land of evil beasts, and the sword
will not go through your land. You will chase your enemies, and they shall fall by the sword
before you. Five of you shall chase a hundred, and a hundred of you shall put ten thousand
to flight. Your enemies shall fall by the sword before you.
For I will look on you favorably and make you fruitful,
multiply you and confirm my covenant with you.
You shall eat the old harvest and clear out the old because of the new.
I will set my tabernacle among you, my soul shall not abhor you.
I will walk among you and be your God, and you shall be my people.
I am the Lord your God,
who brought you out of the land of Egypt,
that you should not be their slaves.
I have broken the bands of your yoke,
and made you walk upright.
Lord, thank you for your word.
Thank you for your promises.
Thank you that you never change.
Thank you that you are good and your
mercy endures forever. Thank you that your power never wanes. Thank you that
your love for us never subsides. Jesus thank you for your continual intercession
on our behalf as our High Priest. Thank you for your sacrifice. Thank you for
your atonement.
Thank you, Lord, that we can be in right relationship
with you, that we can hear from you directly.
Holy Spirit, lead us, fill us, and equip us
for the days in which we live.
Lord, wherever there is an advantage,
Lord, let it be pressed for the sake of your kingdom.
Wherever there is a breakthrough, let us not draw back,
but press in to receive more and more
of what you have for us
and what you deserve in this generation.
Lord, bring about holiness in your people
and a hunger and a thirsting after righteousness and truth.
Lord, let your people be bold.
Let your people be courageous.
We can only do the things that you have called us to do
and that are necessary in this time with your help,
with your support, with your guidance, Lord give us discernment and wisdom
to make the right choices for our families
and for our ministries and in every single capacity.
Lord bless us, bless your people with health
and with unity of purpose and with vision
and with understanding and with unity of purpose and with vision and with understanding and with creativity
and with boldness.
And Lord give us opportunities to speak
into the lives of others, to showcase your goodness
and your love through our actions and our attitudes.
Lord help us to be quicker, to repent
and to restore right relationship.
Lord, help us to jettison anything that needs
to be left behind, anything that needs to be tossed aside.
Lord, you are worthy of it.
There is nothing that you cannot deliver us from.
Lord, help us.
We need your help, your assistance, your guidance,
your love, your mercy, and we need your power,
Lord, at this time and in this place.
Lord, use this opportunity, use this broadcast
for your glory.
Overshadow me and the frailties and shortcomings
that I have and anoint these words, Lord, for your use.
Let them be edifying to your people.
Help me speak what is appropriate and what is on target for this point in time.
We love you, Lord.
We give you all the glory, all the honor, and all the praise.
In Jesus' name, amen.
Lest I be accused of cherry picking scriptures,
I'm well aware that immediately after the verses I read
in Leviticus 26, there is the other side of this situation
where the Lord begins in verse 14 and says,
"'But if you do not obey me,'
and then goes through a litany of punishments
and judgments and bad things that are often the inverse of the promises
and the blessings that will come upon the people.
And much of the history of the Old Testament
is a history of the falling short of the people of God,
finding themselves on the wrong side of the tracks,
so to speak, in terms of what we see here in the word of God.
But I do want to focus on the passage that I read for now,
especially in light of what is going on
in our country and in our society,
because there has been a time of substantial hibernation
of the people of God, substantial compromise and concession in a bad way,
in a way that has depleted the testimony
of the people of God and has left a vacuum and a void
that has been deliberately designed to be occupied
by forces and sentiments that are deliberately
and directly anti-God, or if they don't posture themselves
that way, at the very least surreptitiously,
or even directly anti-Jesus, anti-the name of God.
In our culture, it's still fine in almost every circle
to invoke the name of God, but the name of Jesus
brings about
a particularly different reaction.
But pendulum swings and the time of
an openness and a receptivity to the gospel,
a hunger for it is here.
The people who are growing up now, Gen Z, Gen Alpha, these folks, they're in a different situation than we were, Millennials, Gen Z.
It's a different situation for them growing up. They're growing up in a culture that is so far removed in most cases from the ideals of biblical Christianity, the morals that are established,
that biblical Christianity by comparison is going to be seen, if it's presented, in the
way that it deserves to be presented, the way that the Bible presents it, as bold and
refreshing and conclusive and direct and powerful and mighty.
And that is the way that God deserves to be esteemed
in addition to the love and the mercy
and the grace and all of these things.
There is a powerful message in the gospel of Jesus Christ,
the promise of eternal life, but more importantly,
eternal life with God, in the presence of God,
fulfilling the purpose for which we are created.
But note what is happening here in verse eight.
Five of you shall chase 100,
and 100 of you shall put 10,000 to flight.
That has not been the case, at least here in America
in the West in the course of my entire lifetime.
But perhaps now, perhaps as the Holy Spirit moves,
perhaps as society turns,
and you can feel these things happening,
you can sense them happening,
you can feel doors opening up
and barriers being broken down
and strongholds being removed,
there is now a unique opportunity
that I have certainly not seen in my adult life,
and I would hazard a guess that has not been available
throughout the entirety of my life since I was born in 1988,
where the gospel and the ground and the harvest
truly is plentiful and the labors are still few.
But notice one of the implications here
of this verse in Leviticus.
We don't necessarily need 100 million laborers.
It would be great to have, but five shall chase 100,
100 shall put 10,000 to flight.
The people of God are not trying to win
a secular mathematical numbers-based strategy game.
There are certainly reasons to put forth
different strategies, and we need to be wise
in our operations, and we need to have
the right kind of perspective,
but at the end of the analysis,
what matters is what God wants us to do, where God wants us to
focus, and it's in this time that we have to be laser focused and
extraordinarily attentive and sensitive to the voice of the Holy Spirit, because
it's not just a list of abstract circumstances and instructions when we
read in Leviticus 26 three.
If you walk in my statutes and keep my commandments
and perform them, then all of these promises
will come about.
Yes, there are the general moral rules and guidelines
and commandments and the teachings of Jesus
in the New Testament that come through that.
And there's also the specific and directed will of God
for our lives individually that,
depending on how you view it,
can serve as commandments for us,
where if we are being disobedient to the will
that God has made clear to us specifically,
then we can find ourself on the wrong side
of these promises, even if
it's just to the tune of missing out on some of the blessing and some of the impact we
could have had. Now, the good news, amongst many other pieces of good news, is that God
will equip us for these things. We have to be open to hearing and open to receiving and that involves
putting aside any unnecessary sin that so easily besets us. We all deal with
different things from time to time but let's just take a moment to say if we
are going to be positioned properly for the move of God that it really does
seem like is taking place and that deservedly is taking place for the move of God that it really does seem like is taking place and that deservedly is taking place
for the Lord.
God's name is not mocked for so long
without there being judgment and consequence to it
and without there being a restoration.
God is a God of judgment, but he's also a God of mercy.
And there is a generation coming up
and is now in important positions
where they have not lived in a time
of background Christian morals.
They've lived at a time of loose affiliation
with those sorts of ideas,
but in a way that has come untethered
from anything actual and practical and applicable in reality.
And so you have a mental health crisis,
you have tension and anxiety and stress
and people feeling adrift and no wonder.
But there is a rock, there is an anchor.
God is not moved, he is not going to be displaced.
The principles of God and the character of God
are steadfast and eternal and firm. And that is what people to be displaced. The principles of God and the character of God are steadfast and eternal and firm,
and that is what people are looking for.
And they're looking for that in a way
that is presented with power and with love,
with understanding, with compassion.
There's a craving that people have
who are growing up for meaning and belonging and purpose,
and they're not finding it elsewhere,
and they have less and less tolerance
for dealing with those sorts of things.
They're more willing to adjust
and to look at their underlying premises.
They're more open than before to the gospel.
At least it would seem that way to me.
And as we enter into this mode And as we enter into this mode,
as we enter into this time,
as we go ahead into this harvest that is coming,
we have to take the necessary steps to become prepared
and let God position us where we need to be.
So whether that involves tossing out things
that need to be tossed,
having conversations that need to be had, clearing the decks and reaching out and forgiving others
and receiving forgiveness in many cases,
repairing relationships, restoring the breaches,
making ourselves known declaratively,
that being firm and bold in where we stand,
being willing to take on confrontations in the right
kind of way, in the biblical way, in the godly way, being willing to engage with
people and to hear them out and to understand where they're coming from to
get to the bottom of it, to ultimately be led by the Holy Spirit, understanding
that we're not going to be able to chart this course for ourselves. When we deal
with something new, when we deal with a landscape that is different, when we're not gonna be able to chart this course for ourselves, when we deal with something new,
when we deal with a landscape that is different,
when we're in unexplored territory,
a place that we have never been,
and here we may be entering into that time,
and I would argue that we are
from a sociological perspective.
Now, it's still the place, and it's still the case
that so many people who profess to be evangelical
or born-again believers or Bible-believing Christians
do not affirm the core nature
of the doctrines of Christianity,
including the deity of Christ,
the reality of the resurrection,
the reliability of the Bible.
And it's incumbent upon us to take a stand for orthodoxy.
And it may very well be the case
that the toughest battles that we're going to face
as we present the gospel and as we bring forward
the truth of God, that the toughest battles
are going to be inside of the institutional church
rather than dealing with those on the outside looking in
who have no basis for culturally rejecting
these sorts of things, and who haven't been inculcated
in the kind of false, secularized Christianity
that diminishes the value and the authority of the Bible,
that puts our own definitions and contingencies on God
and the way that he wants to operate,
and that has simply just abandoned the biblical position
in favor of something that was a pipe dream,
something sold, people got sold a bill of goods about how you have an impact in in
a culture and you conform to them was the advice given and that is not the
case. That removes your power, it removes your ability to stand out and people
these days would rather see someone who is bold and direct and principled
and able to take action and confident
rather than someone who is simply conforming
or like-minded to a certain extent.
Yes, there are always going to be exceptions,
but let us stand for Christ the way that he deserves.
He deserves much more than we are giving.
In any case, no matter how much we're giving,
Jesus deserves more of it.
He's deserving of every single thing
because all things were made by him and for him
and it's in him that we have our being.
There is no way to separate that.
And so when we think about this motif
and this idea of five chasing 100 or of 100 putting 10,000 a flight,
this can only come about because of the blessings
and the grace and the timing of the Lord.
So if we are not on the battlefield, so to speak,
spiritually, if we are not positioned properly
as a move of God takes place,
then we will not be in that
position. We will not see these things that are generationally relevant, like
once in a lifetime, once in a century, once in a millennium, once in
all of human history. These are the things that will last and bear fruit
for all eternity.
And let's not imagine that the grace of God
and the love of God and the mercies of God
being new and fresh every morning
means that we will get an unlimited amount of chances
to be obedient to what the Lord is doing.
If we are not going to allow God to place us
in the positions that we need to be with
the right mindset and with the right approach and with the right background
and with the right giftings and skill sets. All of that is God's work in us by
the way. It's not that we are manufacturing these things out of our
own strength, but if we're not going to allow the Lord to put us in the right
place at the right time, God's will is not going to be abrogated. He is going to find someone and put them in that position. And it's not as if I'm saying that we should
be envious and covetous and jealous of that potential. God's will is moving on. The train
is on its way and if it leaves the station, yes, there is still grace and mercy and love and God is not running short of those precious resources,
those infinite resources, but why don't we just get
on the train, why don't we make sure that we are in
the right position by paying attention to God,
by staying in the Bible, by fasting and praying
for specific things, whatever season you're going through,
whatever time you are in,
whatever station of life you are at,
whatever position in society you are in,
God has something for you.
God has a way for you to have an impact on those around you
and a positive impact for the kingdom of God.
And it is absolutely incumbent upon us
to avoid the snares and the traps
that can be laid for us
that will drag us away from these things.
And one of those is going to be
the kind of internecine debates that go on
where there's just a lot of friendly fire,
Christians against Christians,
taking all these sorts of positions
and casting accusations,
whether it's on items of prophecy
or inter-denominational things
and going back and forth
and Catholic versus Protestant and Orthodox
and everything else with these traditions
or going even into the depths of someone's perspective on the church fathers
or particular theological doctrines
and everything else like that.
Good doctrine is important and necessary and critical,
but if our time, and I'm speaking to myself here,
is spent more in unpacking the individual components
of an argument that has been taking place in the church
for hundreds and hundreds and even thousands of years,
rather than time spent on our knees praying and trying
and reaching and hearing and asking and knocking
and seeking and trying to get a hold of God
so that we can know what to do tomorrow,
then I would argue that our time is being misplaced.
If we are sitting in a place
where we have a critical attitude of others
and we are whining and bickering and complaining
and just going about things the wrong way
and gossiping and everything else like that,
if we are not showcasing and seeing the development
and the growth of the fruits of the spirit within us,
then we are missing a window of opportunity
that is critical that I don't think I have ever seen
in my entire lifetime.
I have made changes, I have this year
had an adjustment in attitude, I have this year had an adjustment
in attitude, I've had to repent of things,
I've had to get things under the blood
and move things forward, and there's an urgency
in my spirit to do this, and one could argue,
yes, the urgency should have been there before
because it's always the right time to draw closer to God,
to put aside the things that we should put aside
and to leave childish ways behind and to move forward
with the Lord and to repent and to just get things going
in the right direction.
There's never a bad time for that.
But especially true right now as we see circumstances
changing around us and as we see a greater openness
and a receptivity to the things of Christ.
Let's not get bogged down in things
that are going to move us away from the target.
It is absolutely true that we should study
to show ourselves approved.
It is absolutely the case that we need to focus
on having right doctrine.
Part of the departure from the Bible
and the departure from right doctrine. Part of the departure from the Bible and the departure from
right doctrine has has been the kind of effects that we have seen and the apathy
at best and outright opposition to to the word of God at worst. There are tons
of people who have extremely effective ministries in blazing different
different paths and trails and trying to make these
different inroads into the culture and standing up for Jesus properly and
expositing the Bible in a proper way. But as for each and every one of us, as for
all of our houses, let us serve the Lord in this time. I'm not here to tell you exactly what you need to do,
but I can tell you that the Holy Spirit is working in me
in a way that says, get your affairs in order
because we are about to move.
Now, what exactly that means,
how exactly that will play out,
I don't have a word from God like that,
but my sense and my feeling,
and this is a notion that is shared
by many people with much greater spiritual maturity
than I have, and people who have seen this
in some way, shape, or form,
and the Lord has spoken it into their spirit
that we need to prepare for these particular times, and whether this is already going or it reaches its climax
in a week, a month, a year, or a decade, now is the time and now is the season.
It's not something to be rushed.
We can't force God's hand in some way, shape, or form, but it is something that we should earnestly
pursue to the point where, well, why shouldn't we move with haste towards where God wants
us to be?
He can take things that have burdened us for years and for decades, and he can remove them
in an instant.
He can redeem the time.
He can restore the years.
He can strengthen us
where we need to be strengthened. He wants to. His hands are extended. He wants
to equip his people, the people who he has called into this generation, to be
positioned rightly so that he can receive the glory, so that his power can
be shown, so that testimonies can be established and the gospel can be sent forth
and the great commission can be fulfilled
and we can move forward and give God the glory
in all of this.
So brothers and sisters, ladies and gentlemen,
the time is now.
If we are coming into a season, and I believe we are,
where five of us shall chase 100, so to speak,
and 100 of us shall put 10,000 to flight spiritually,
then do we wanna be one of those five?
Do we wanna be one of those 100?
Or do we want to be on the sidelines?
Or, worse yet, do we want to be the 100
who are being chased and the 10,000
who are being put to flight?
Presumably not.
So with that in mind, if we agree with this premise,
even if we don't really see it with our eyes just yet,
if we understand by faith that the Holy Spirit
is up to something in this generation,
there are opportunities like never before
that God wants us to walk into,
then what kind of people should we be? We should be people who are earnestly seeking after
the best gifts, we should be people who are forgiving
quickly, who are repenting quickly, who are practicing
the devotions that are necessary to learn from God,
to hear from God, to have good doctrine
while not getting sucked into
meaningless quarrels and things that are not fruitful, we have to spend our time doing
the things that matter.
We have to spend our time serving others and bringing glory to Jesus.
We have to spend our time communing and fellowshiping with one another and entering into the presence of God,
entering into his courts with thanksgiving
and with praise and with worship,
for he's worthy of it.
He is holy and he is righteous and true and faithful.
And now is his time.
I pray that we would see this in our lives.
I pray that we would see this in this lives. I pray that we would see this in this time,
in this season, in this generation.
The Lord is loving and merciful,
and he is not going to let all of these people
simply just go by without them experiencing a testimony
and a moment of clarity and a choice of being given
this grace and the showcasing of God's love
through Jesus and what Jesus accomplished.
There is a reality check going on.
And so will we let the Lord, will we let the Holy Spirit
give us a reality check so that we can know what time it is, so that
we can know what we are supposed to do, so that we can walk in his statutes and keep
his commandments and perform them.
Then what is promised to us, brothers and sisters?
Rain in its season, the land yielding its produce, the trees of the field yielding their
fruit physically, spiritually, emotionally,
psychologically, all of the above. Our threshing will last till the time of vintage and the vintage
shall last till the time of sowing. There will be plenty, plenty of spiritual resource, plenty of
words from God, plenty of direction, plenty of truth, plenty of proper fellowship with fellow brothers and sisters
in Christ, plenty of love and mercy and grace, plenty of power and judgment where needed,
plenty of the kind of correction that for so long people have bristled at.
But I pray that we would enter into a time and into a season where people are open to
correction, open to change,
that our egos would just be stripped away
and that we would just not be so sensitive
to these sorts of things.
And we would say, here am I, Lord, correct my ways.
Search my heart, try me, know my thoughts,
fix what needs to be fixed, transform me, Lord.
I can't do it myself, you have to do it,
but do what you need to do, Jesus,
and he is faithful to it.
There will be peace in the land.
We will lie down and none will make us afraid.
The land will be rid of evil beasts.
The sword will not go through our land.
We will chase our enemies and they will fall before us.
Five of us shall chase 100, and 100 a hundred of us shall put ten thousand to flight.
Let the name of Jesus ring forth, let his kingdom be established in our hearts.
It is near and it is at hand.
Lord let this be so in Jesus' name. Please Lord, let us see for the first time in my lifetime
as people and a situation
and a set of background circumstances
where there is a hunger and a thirst
and a receptivity for the gospel
and for the truth of the Bible,
even in congregations of people
who would call upon your name.
Let there be a revival in our churches.
Let there be testimonies going forth.
Let there be powerful miracles done.
Let your power be shown, God.
Put your enemies to flight.
Put your enemies to flight.
Let there be forgiveness for sins.
Let there be the breaking of a critical spirit.
Let there be the destruction of the tendencies
that we have to so easily fall away
and to give in to temptation.
Lord, your word says that wherever there is temptation,
you have given us the grace and a way out of it.
So Lord, let us choose the way out.
Let us win those battles. We need your help to do so, Lord, but it is all worth it. So Lord let us choose the way out. Let us win those battles. We need
your help to do so Lord but it is all worth it. It is all worth it for you and
for your glory Jesus. Be magnified in our hearts. Be magnified in our land. Be
magnified in this season. Be lifted up in this time. Let it be a moment of clarity for your people and for everyone. Lord, let this
tipping of the scales, let this swinging of the pendulum create openings, God, for your love to be
poured out. Be established and glorified in this time and in this generation. Use the lives of
your people who have been laboring and sowing for so
long, who have been believing in faith, who have been long-suffering, who have
been gracious, who have been following you, who have allowed themselves to be
transformed by you. Fulfill your promises, God. This is your word. You have
pronounced blessing upon your people and it will be so because you are not like a man that you should lie
You are the God of the universe. You are the King of heaven. You are the Lord of Lords
You are the Prince of Peace. There is no name that is above your name Jesus
Let your will be established in our lives in every single aspect. We love you Lord
I pray that you would bless my brothers and sisters who are hearing this.
I pray that it would find deep root in their soul.
Not for my glory Lord, but for yours.
Holy Spirit, do the work that you need to do
in my heart and in all of our hearts.
Let it be done according to your will.
In Jesus' mighty and matchless name, amen.
