Starting point is 00:00:00 You're listening here to pay the end. You'll pay us back the stability here. Do me a favor this morning, folks. Take a moment. Thank God. Take a moment. You know, whatever it is. Not a prayer. Don't recite a man-made litany from a book.
Starting point is 00:00:49 Take a moment. Thank God. Don't pray for someone else. Don't use your prayer for this or that. Don't beg for a check. Don't beg for the well-being of the world. Literally. for the well-being of the world literally. And look, if you're trapped in an office or trapped in traffic, whatever the situation is, take a moment, look out the window. Life
Starting point is 00:01:16 is everywhere. Beauty is everywhere. It's spring. See, when you have to take a deep breath also. You have to take a deep breath. You have to thank God for this day. Right? Start your day with that. At least whenever you're listening or watching this podcast, take the time. Take the time. We live in what has to be the most complaint. Well, you know what?
Starting point is 00:01:47 Complaining is the wrong way to say it. I'll say it the way my parents said it growing up. We piss and moan about everything. I mean, there's whole industries about it now. There's whole everything that is released. There are literally like I see literal titles to videos. What's wrong with blank? Five things that are wrong with blank.
Starting point is 00:02:11 Thank God. Okay. I will tell you that. Let's get into the show. Let's get, you know what? Let's get right into the meat of the show. How about we do that? No further ado.
Starting point is 00:02:31 So this news broke yesterday that we could impose 50% tariff additional on China. So they got the 34% additional 50% could come through on the 9th,th 10th 9th, I think it is and Xi has come out and said, you know bring it Bring it how you gonna afford medicine? He didn't say that but that's what that's what comes to mind when I see Michael Snyder has said I don't know all the details But he has said that we've now pushed China into the realm of 104% tariff.
Starting point is 00:03:08 That's a lot. That's a lot. So we'll have to see how that goes. It's a thing. You know what I mean? China is one of the few nations that's not bending. Let me refer to the Grey Man Brief real quick, a great service if you guys are into threat alerts and News to drive you completely insane. You can you can join the gray man
Starting point is 00:03:32 They do a great job It seems Taiwan India Vietnam Zimbabwe Cambodia and Israel have tentatively agreed to stop all tariffs on the United States That's a win. That's, I mean, that's as simple as, as it is. A fire wolf Ford says, I don't get this reciprocating tariffs. So that means if you charge 10, I charge 10, right? If you charge zero, then we charged zero. Exactly.
Starting point is 00:04:01 Well, that's what we're going for. And in fact, the EU and Canada are already thinking about it. They're already mulling it over. Let's see what it says here. The sentiment Canada appears to match the EU proposal with Ontario's premier suggesting the country would agree to a 0-4-0 deal also. That's it. You know what Trump's trying to do right Trump is trying to get rid of the income tax and he's trying to get rid of the large tax burden of the United States taxpayer That's what's that's what's gonna wind up happening if we can get this to go, right? And he's also gonna use tariffs militarily
Starting point is 00:04:50 this to go right. And he's also going to use tariffs militarily. Let's go with geopolitically. Okay, that's a good move. You know what I mean? It's a good move. It's already starting to happen. He's already talked about using tariffs on nations that buy oil from people we don't want to buy an oil from. In other words, like you buy oil from Iran, tariffs are coming up. Tariffs come with a consumer of the world. China makes it out to believe like, I don't know if it's China or if it's the mainstream media, but I read an article before the show where it was mentioning like, well, you know, the United States is not so much the great consumer it once was. Exports to other nations are picking up.
Starting point is 00:05:31 OK, yeah, sure. I will be interested to see how a place like Walmart survives something like this. That will be interesting. So yeah, I mean, the trade war with China is a thing. You have to be a realist about it in the short term. You have to at least say to yourself like a lot of shit comes from China. You know what I mean? Lots.
Starting point is 00:05:56 Antibiotics, a lot of medicines, base materials to make medicines, important things. This, this, this, this. Largely I come from China, largely. If you're watching me or listening to me, I'm basically from China. Because in order to see me, you need this, you need something to watch on something to listen on to everything here is from China Taskam headphones are not made in the United States. I don't think Sure can be right the OBS bot Johnny five over there our camera Can't be so We're in this situation where we got to be realistic about that. Now, to me personally, you want my take, my personal take?
Starting point is 00:06:51 Sorry, it was bothering me that my head was not in the middle of the circle, at least from a height perspective. My personal take is this. First of all, we've prepared for this. Maybe not this particular situation, but we've prepared for an economic collapse or an economic downturn for reasons just like this. My personal feeling is this. If I can leave my kids with a manufacturing base in the United States
Starting point is 00:07:29 kids with a manufacturing base in the United States and a world where some of our closest allies are not taking advantage of us economically and militarily, then I'll figure it out. We'll figure it out. You know what I mean? This is why for the last 10 years of my life I've been saying self-reliance and independence self-reliance and independence self-reliance and independence do you know what I mean that's why the hosts of the prepper broadcasting network have been telling you food storage gardens chickens move go where you want to be where you want to live where you need to be where you have to be to do the things that you want to do because you know this is just the nature of the world folks hardship so yeah I mean things are going to become
Starting point is 00:08:15 expensive and harder to get they have to if we have a trade war with China the problem is there's a lot of people in the prepping world and in right-wing media, I think, that like to play the fantasy game, but they don't really want to see the trouble come true. In other words, it's really nice when a headline like, you know, China wants to fight on, comes across because they know, all right, we'll get a lot of views, we'll get a lot of clicks, we'll make a lot of money, and man. But deep down, unprepared for it, don't want it to actually happen, totally screwed if anything like that happens. And that's
Starting point is 00:08:56 not what I want for you. I don't want you to just be informed. I don't want you to just be some person who knows the stats and the data some like part-time geopolitical analysts who can tell everybody what's wrong with the world and You know bitch and moan Frankly and Many of you out there, you know, you guys have been with us a while a lot of the listeners and members out there You know the deal, you know, right? You already are producing food. You have backup plans.
Starting point is 00:09:27 You probably have a medical cash with backup medicines in it. Like you're not going to take your last ibuprofen and be like, Oh, I guess I got to pay $40 for a bottle of ibuprofen now. Right. Hopefully things in medicines and such that you you know depend on you have backups and those kinds of things prescriptions the world of prescriptions is largely changed we've had several sponsors for long-term prescriptions and antibiotics backup antibiotics I'll be honest with you we didn't we didn't do
Starting point is 00:10:00 very well for those guys so you know it goes back to being one of those things. Are we going to have economic trouble? Are we going to have warfare trouble with China? It's very likely. You ask anybody who listens to this podcast network, is this a thing that could happen? They're going to say highly likely. The problem is, do you have what you need then? Did you invest in what you need? Right? I mean, I could tell you right now, I don't have backup, multitudes of backup microphones, cameras, computers. We got backups, but you know, I don't have like three of these OBS bots that we use. I don't have extra Johnny Fives, right? But still, you have to understand, it's real. Do we want to do continuity review or do we want to do the SHTF Chef? I'll decide.
Starting point is 00:11:18 What is up? I'm going down here in this little speck to the bottom left. So today on the SHTF Chef, I tried to dumb down a rice and beans recipe that I turn to a lot. Oh, I forgot the main ingredient. Whoops. Rice, beans, and retaliatory tariffs today on SHTF Chef. Tumeric, turmeric, turmeric, turmeric, turmeric, turmeric, okay? I apologize. I should have turmeric on here. So rice, beans, and retaliatory tariffs, this is a side dish that could easily become a main dish with the addition of freeze dried meat with the addition of any kind of ground meat, right? The Firewolf Forge quote of the day. He says, I vote for uh SHTF Chef because shallots don't
Starting point is 00:12:15 come from China. I love it. Coffee mug of rice, two coffee mugs of water. Why do I put it that way? Why do I put it that way? Why do I put it that way? Because that's exactly how I measure it. And I started thinking to myself, I say this two to one ratio business to you guys about rice. Some of you who know how to cook rice, you know how to cook rice, so it doesn't matter. But to many of you out there who are storing rice and all that kind of stuff that you guys have no clue what you're doing or why you're storing it or how you're going to cook it because you've never cooked it This is the way that I do it if I'm making rice for the family I Get a coffee mug of rice maybe not this one because this is a big coffee mug, but like a normal sized coffee mug of rice and
Starting point is 00:13:00 Then I rinse that rice off in the pot Right rinse it off rinse it off rinse it off fill the pot up with water rinse fill the pot up with water rinse Fill the pot up with water rinse why because rice is filthy Rice is filthy. It's dirty. It's covered in excess starch. And the last thing you want is is you know, like Meekery You have to look that up to know what it is, but the last thing you want is, you know, right rice That is just mush Overcooked or overstarched or over finagled
Starting point is 00:13:34 finagled so One cup of one mug of rice two mugs of water Pretty simple, right? Jay Fergan Chad says rinse the rice till it runs clear. That's the way to go. So it's a step that a lot of people don't take, and it makes a huge difference in the outcome. So yeah, one mug of rice. Rinse the rice off till it's clean.
Starting point is 00:14:01 Boom. Set it aside. Then in whatever pot you're going to steam or cook your rice in. We're going to start a half an onion diced. We're going to start a green pepper diced. You know, diced to the size that you want. It's not that important. You just want everything to be about the same size
Starting point is 00:14:18 that you're going to cook down. I slice the garlic very thin. That's what I always do. But we're going to add that later. Okay? Half an onion diced a green pepper diced. I like to keep it pretty big probably about a half inch Half to a quarter inch something along those lines on the dice. I Like to have some things in my rice, you know what I mean? It makes it more fun So then we're gonna over a medium low heat olive oil medium low heat we're gonna over a medium-low heat olive oil medium-low heat we're
Starting point is 00:14:49 gonna sweat that onion in that green pepper in other words I don't want it brown I don't want it sauteed I don't want any color on it I just want the onion to start to get translucent I want the pepper to start to get softened then I'm gonna add in my garlic sliced finely sliced a lot good fellows with the razor blade you know what I mean that's not true I don't cut it that thin I cut it I like it substantial I do I've been over using garlic lately a lot like a lot like in a recipe like this I said one clove of garlic because I want you guys to be like mmm this is good I made. I made James's recipe. It tastes delicious.
Starting point is 00:15:26 But the truth of the matter is, on a recipe like this, I'd probably use about three or four. You have but so many chances to fill your family with insane nutrition. One of the thing you can slip into the family's diet, and they will just love it it is garlic by the pound. You know, it's very rare that you get something with real cooked garlic in it and you're like, as long as the garlic's not like overcooked, that you're like,
Starting point is 00:15:54 oh, that was too garlicky. No, most of the time you're like, that was delicious. So, all the goodies working together in the pot then you're gonna take about a tablespoon of turmeric over top Dust it over top stir it in over that medium low heat What's gonna happen is all the goodies in the turmeric are gonna start to come out the turmeric is gonna come back to life If you don't use it a lot, it's probably been sitting in your cabinet. You should have it. It's an anti-inflammatory. It's an amazing little spice. Once you give it about a minute, 60 seconds, something like that, over the medium-low heat, boom. Rice in, water in. I do some more olive oil on top and then
Starting point is 00:16:40 I don't know. I'd say like at least for at least for a mug of rice, I'd probably do about a tablespoon of salt, to be honest with you. It's very hard to get rice like over salty. So yeah, and I like my rice seasons. A lot of times I'll add salt at the beginning, cook it all the way through, fork it around. You fork your rice at the end. Keep it PG. Just kidding, don't care if it's PG actually. But anyway, fork your rice, fluff your rice with a fork at the end.
Starting point is 00:17:18 And a lot of times what I'll do with the rice is more olive oil and more salt and then fork the rice. Because I like those things you know really when it comes down to it like you I can't have enough olive oil and garlic and onions and things. It's delicious but it's also you know you know you're doing your body so good. So once the rice is all forked then you can add your pinto beans in. Well let's go back actually. Cook your rice with the water till it gets stodgy right. You know that process. It's gonna start to look like oatmeal. It's gonna start to look like porridge. At that point I add my cup of pinto beans
Starting point is 00:18:06 Stir it in particularly if they're coming out of the fridge They need some time to heat up stir it in while it's still all you know what it is Lid on lowest setting on the stove lowest setting on the stove and Let that rice steam 10 minutes 15 minutes something like that come back to it look at it That'll give time for your pinto beans to warm up that'll give time for your Rice to steam till it's you know, you can't eat crunchy rice. You don't want crunchy rice rice has to be soft pinto beans have to be warm and
Starting point is 00:18:44 From there you're done. That's when I do the forking. That's when I do the olive oiling, the salting again, to get what I want out of the recipe. You can do some cilantro-ing. You could do some fresh basil-ing. You could do whatever you want. The thing about rice and beans is there's
Starting point is 00:19:04 a lot of different kinds of beans. You could do this exact same recipe with white beans. You could chop sun-dried tomatoes up, fresh basil up, toss that in at the end. You know what I mean? A lot of cool stuff. Rice is a vehicle for your culinary creativity. It doesn't have to be white rice, black beans. So, rice, beans, and retaliatory tariffs.
Starting point is 00:19:30 The only thing I forgot, turmeric, turmeric, turmeric on the list here, so remember that, because that's how you make rice yellow. That's the key. The key to the yellow rice, and there's something in my family about yellow rice. I don't know what it is When I make the yellow rice people get excited. I Don't know. I don't know why but it's a thing so Yeah, rice beans and retaliatory tariffs. I hope you enjoyed it. I hope you enjoyed this shtf chef now we need to talk about
Starting point is 00:20:04 We'll end the show with a little recap on the incredible continuity meeting last night. We won't go too far in detail. It was a great time. I'm going to put in the background here. Put the flag. The flag don't really work. We'll go with the good old prepare the homeland.
Starting point is 00:20:26 It was almost like, the one thing I want to remark on, not so much the process. We dealt with a 9.2 magnitude earthquake and volcanic activity in the Pacific Northwest. That was the scenario. There's a couple things I want to talk about. It felt like fate because we did not come to this meeting knowing the scenario ahead of time. It was delivered to us, which made it really fun. And it felt like fate because we had two people who were really knowledgeable in the Pacific Northwest and the challenges they're in, particularly with the 100-foot tsunami that we had to deal with also. The big takeaway, or not the big takeaway, but we discussed everything, guys.
Starting point is 00:21:21 We went through just, we had an hour and a half meeting on trying to piece back together the society after a cataclysm like that, right? What I kept going back to, what we kept going back to was just, and it's gonna just be a sort of beating a dead horse, but it's, there's a portion of time following a serious disaster and I think it might be about two weeks I think we came to the conclusion that it's probably about two weeks That you're gonna be on your own in every way shape and form Now if it's if it's even bigger than the event that we you know, we worked on last night Then it's gonna be probably longer than two weeks, but I do think that like, and this goes back to what are you prepping for? You know, if you're prepping for a serious disaster, not, you know, whatever, if you're preparing for a serious disaster, or if you're even thinking about
Starting point is 00:22:22 a serious disaster, you really have to wrap your head around being self-sufficient for two weeks That's two weeks of water. That's two weeks of food. That's two weeks of medical. That's two weeks of power if you need power That's two weeks of being able to charge your phones your radios. Oh my god. I Got to show you this This came out of nowhere this came late in the night, so I didn't even, I couldn't even really like... After the continuity meeting, I wish I could say I was dead and I went to sleep, but I was sort of like idling, I guess you would call it.
Starting point is 00:22:59 Yeah, I was basically idling and I idled for a while, you know what I mean? And then I eventually fell asleep but I got to share something with you that popped up that everybody listening to the prepper broadcasting network should check out okay let's have a look here we got comms time with Captain Com's. I'd prefer it called Captain Com's, to be honest with you. But it's fine. This at prepperbroadcasting.com. Com's Time with Chin.
Starting point is 00:23:34 And this is a combo podcast with Sarah and Chin talking about storms and radios. I haven't listened to it yet, in all honesty. I haven't heard it yet. Let's see how long it is This is a hour and 15 minute conversation on storms and radios with chin and chin is the comms guy here at PBN Don't miss out on that one. That's tremendous. Okay, that's gonna be awesome Yeah, but the continuity was a hit, man. We had a small group last night.
Starting point is 00:24:08 I think the group will grow in time. If you remember, you should really set aside, what is it, the 12th of next month, because it's Monday nights, 10m. The 12th of May will meet a next and it's you you it really cranks the brain up It really cranks the sort of preparedness thinking up and it also puts in perspective your own sort of preparedness level like ooh Would I be okay in this situation? One of the things we talked about a lot last night was volcanic ash And I was a little uncomfortable imagining looking out this window and seeing volcanic ash clouds raining down and Closing vents and thinking to myself Am I equipped to handle this you know and how bad is this gonna get type of thing right so?
Starting point is 00:25:03 Just another perk of membership like I said We had a great meeting the Phoenix was with us last night. It was a it was awesome I appreciate all you who came out and Yeah, it's fun was definitely it's gonna be great next month is gonna be wild too. We're gonna be the situation the scenario is gonna be a massive terrorist attack across the nation. And we'll see how the continuity measures up. Alright folks, I'm out of here. I do appreciate you. I hope you enjoyed the show today. Touched on a number of different things. Visit PrepperBroadcasting.com and follow the follow the podcast like the pie review whatever
Starting point is 00:25:45 you're doing if you're on a social network do me a favor hit the like button subscribe don't just sit there and drool make sure that you make sure that you where did that come from make sure that you you know do the stuff that helps us keep going and keep growing What we do on the membership side what we do on the on the challenge side what we do on the daily podcast side is so Miniscule compared to what we can do, you know I talk about Sarah Hathaway if you knew the plans and Sarah Hathaway had in her head
Starting point is 00:26:22 If you knew the plans that Dave Jones had in his head if you knew the plans that Sarah Hathaway had in her head. If you knew the plans that Dave Jones had in his head. If you knew the plans, well if you knew the plans that I had in my head, you'd probably jump off a cliff. But anyway, so help us grow, you know, help us grow, help the membership grow, all that kind of stuff because you know, we want to, we want to do things that you can't even imagine. That's the truth of it all. The collective here at PBN is really mulling over amazing things. And you can help us achieve that. Talk to you guys soon. Thanks for watching!
