Marching till it's over It's ridiculous Good morning, PBN. I did realize I forgot to hit the PBN intro. This is Jay Ferg with Phoenix
Survival, and it is 8 a.m. Eastern Standard Time, so for the rest of you sleepyheads, I do apologize. I am about two hours
early, but I do have some other things going on today. So unfortunately, I have to pick up some
extra work. So how is it going out there in the world, right? Current events, right? So the world is, it's crazy times, just like the title
says, crazy times. I am actually trying to pull something up real quick so I can just go straight
to breaking news, AOL, whatever have you of what's being posted. know we're seeing all sorts of things currently going
on everything from internet going down AT&T the big issue with pharmacies but it wasn't just AT&T
there was even on was it down there's one i followed on down report
down detector.com was one i had gone on and i kid you not the amount of outages that went
across the board for major cell phone providers, even Google had gone down.
Are we surprised?
No, especially with all the issues at the Chinese hack-in and everything else that's going on.
I think, let's see, right now, in the last 24 hours,
the biggest issue that has gone down was Call of Duty, really.
I'm not a gamer, so for the rest of you who are,
sorry to hear that you experienced that,
but, I mean, AT&T stayed down for a while,
and it looked like they continued to stay down.
Oh, wow.
Checking real quick on here.
Yeah.
Verizon.
I haven't had too many issues yet, but I'm not surprised.
But the thing is, but I'm not surprised.
But the thing is, is I'm seeing it across the board.
I'm seeing it at work, how it affects our computers, how we can respond to things, how well the phone calls are coming through.
This isn't like, oh, you know, the telephones are down for just a moment.
This is something that is actually affecting everybody. Everybody's.
It's, it's ridiculous. I mean, you're seeing out there, and not only are we seeing craziness
with the internet and with, you know, China and another balloon flying across, which,
you know, nothing to worry about, folks.
What does the media try to cover with?
Oh, the new Taylor Swift and Kate.
Who cares?
Who gives two shits about those people?
I don't. Don't know them from Adam.
Nothing they can do.
I'm more concerned on the things that can affect me or potentially could affect me.
I could give two shits less about the celebrities and who is doing what or as far as what new actor
is dating who. No one cares. No one cares. Rephrase. Anyone who is prepping and worried about
what they are going to do for their life does care.
Here's one.
Of course, it's coming from NBC.
Universal Measles is a heat-seeking missile, air quotes.
Expert warns as Florida outbreak grows.
You know, that was something else I encountered.
You know, that was something else I encountered.
I spoke to a young lady who was terrified of the bubonic plague that had really gotten out of hand.
I think it was in Oregon.
And I had to explain to her, even though she's on the other side of the country,
the bubonic plague has never really gone away.
We still see that.
It comes from infected mice.
The problem is, is how it's being tended to.
You do see it among homeless and certain, certain, you know, issues.
Maintaining the rat population, maintaining hygiene.
You know, there's a lot of factors that go into it and the reason why it's spreading.
A lot of people don't realize these big cities are disgusting.
All these people on top of each other, it's trash. It's gross. People are gross. How many times have you seen gum stuck under the bench or under a table? Come on. That's disgusting.
And you know, their hands had to touch all underneath that to put their gum under there.
So yes, of course there's
germs and bacteria and food and trash being left everywhere. Why are we not surprised that people
are getting sick? Let's see. ABC News, Russia strike hits Ukraine overnight as it marks second
anniversary of invasion. Don't get me started on that, the stuff with the president and everything
else. Just, yeah, no. Let's see. Oh, this one's new. Two National Guardsmen dead after military
helicopter crashes in Mississippi during a routine flight training. That is actually sad.
A lot of our soldiers, there's been other accidents that have
occurred the marines that passed away it is absolutely heartbreaking
it is truly heartbreaking and prayers and thoughts go out to them but it's it just goes to show you
beyond that what are we seeing on here uh like i said taylor swift and kelsey um will
caitlin clark go pro trump pledges second term tit for tat tariffs it's called you screw us we
screw you not against that as many times as we've been screwed over as a nation it's time we actually stand up for ourselves when did the u.s become such a sad sad thing
let's see australian police officer charged with murder and missing couple i mean it's
and this is why i don't look at the news the amount of stuff that is on here. It's the destruction, the craziness, the sadness, the murder, the mayhem.
Our world is crazy right now.
What is the point of all this? The point of it is look around you. Look what's going on
outside in this crazy world. Look what's going on. If that is not motivation enough,
then there is nothing we can do to motivate you to prepare for yourself or for the very least
for your family. And that's harsh to say, but the thing is, is I want people to be prepared.
harsh to say, but the thing is, is I want people to be prepared. I want people to look at things from a certain light and say, you know what? I need to make sure this happens. You know what
the biggest crazy thing is? And I'm on a lot of mom forums. I have been over the years since my
first child and I was going through and the amount of people talking about the cost of just baby supplies. I'm fortunate enough that my,
I nurse my son, my six month old is a breastfed baby. Um, we are going to be starting him on food
soon, but the cost of baby formula is absolutely absurd. I went into the store to take a look because I'm seeing women
posting prices of 30, 40, 50 up. And I go in and a tiny container is 20 bucks. And one of the normal
size containers that you see is, sorry folks, and a normal size container that you see anywhere from 30 to 50.
No, I think there was one that was $63, $63 for baby formula.
It is ridiculous. And it's difficult because it's like, you know, when we had there for a while, there
was a formula shortage.
They're making it impossible for mothers to be able to take care of their children.
Diaper prices are slowly on the rise.
I've noticed that too, which I am down to my last box of size threes for my son.
to my last box of size threes for my son. And so I now need to try to buy several boxes to put up just so I can have diapers. I did luck out. Anytime I go to the store, I go straight to
the clearance aisle. Always have. It's just sometimes you find something that you were
originally wanting or needing marked down dramatically.
So when I walked over, I've been saying that I needed some cloth diapers. Now, am I going to
start putting them in them now? No, but they are great for an emergency backup. You'd be surprised
how many times cloth diapers have became, are useful in all sorts of settings outside of being used for babies. Cleaning, just
when your babies are having upset tummies, they're great burp rugs. They're great for
lining underneath the sheet. You know, if you don't have the piddle pads, there's a lot of uses
for them. I walked over and I found cloth diapers marked down to two or three dollars
a piece. And it, mind you, when I say a piece, I mean two packs of 10 padded, like the extra thick
padded diapers for two, three dollars a pack. So I bought them both. I have them. I'm going to wash
them. I'm going to put them up. We're going to use them. I mean,
like I said, they're multi-used, multifaceted in how I can use them. Great, great item for us.
Just perfect. And around this time, you see people, you see the stores tossing out wares.
Look, if you're not able to make your own winter wear, if you're not able to buy wool or buy anything that's handmade or certain items, then go look at the clearance item
aisle because right now they have a bunch of wool beanies, gloves, earmuffs, all of
that, even, you know, everything over there marked down for a few bucks a piece.
You know, this is your time. If you are on, you know, you're on a budget, but you want to make
sure your family has what they need. That's what I used to do is I would always go over there,
stock up on several things. Yes, I understand that I can make my own winter wear and I typically do,
understand that I can make my own winter wear and I typically do but children grow fast and sometimes you're found in situations where you don't necessarily have one of your handmade items
on you so I always kept extra hats and gloves and mitts and everything else in the house or in my
vehicle for those few times that we weren't ready and we were caught off guard or we were out
doing something with the kids and another kid comes running up and you can tell they're cold.
What's a one dollar hat to give the child that no one else has worn or a pair of gloves? I mean,
come on. Thinking ahead is a big thing. It's not a discredit to my skill set or your skill set, but it never hurts to have inexpensive
backups just for those situations.
Yeah, they're not the most ideal material from the wool or the angora, but you know
what?
They work.
And if buying something like that keeps your hands or your children's hands warm or your
head or your ears or keeps you away from getting sick or frostbitten then why not absolutely do it
take the opportunity i keep talking about the last few shows i've had about saving about budgeting. These are situations where, yes, you may see it as an extra $5, $10
expense, but that $5, $10 is $5, $10 that you don't have to spend $30 or $40 for. I mean,
a lot of these are marked down for what, $1, $2, $0.50. Add that up. That's quite a bit because if you try to buy it during the season
when you need it, it's not going to cost 50 cents to a dollar or $2. It's going to cost anywhere
from five to 15 and upwards. It's not feasible. I mean, think about it. Is it smarter to buy it
while it's cheaper and then have it when you need it
then all of a sudden realize you don't have anything go in there and you're buying twice
you're paying twice the amount it doesn't make sense it just doesn't
it doesn't I mean that's the same with anything you may need. So this one was a silly thing that I just
want it in a sense. We are beachgoers here. I have a six month old. I, you know, it's not one
of those things where I can just go straight down to the beach and have them directly in the sun.
Not if I'm trying to be smart about it. And so for me, I've been looking at this little half
beach pop-up thing or a beach tent that you put together. And
it's just one of those things where it's normally $22. And when I found it, I found two left on clearance
for $11. I bought it because this is one I've been looking at. I want to be able to go to the beach
on a nice day. And I want to be able to have my son on the beach and not worry about the sand
irritating his skin or him potentially getting a sunburn.
And it's actually nice enough we could take with us to the park and set up and still have
some shade and still enjoy it.
So it's not like it's going to be a one use item.
We are going to use it multiple times.
So, I mean, some things, there are things that we want. And you got to realize, take a look at what it is your goal is or what it is you're wanting.
Because a lot of things right now are getting marked down.
Not because, you know, they're trying to get you to spend money.
Well, they're always trying to get you to spend money.
But because of the fact that they're bringing in new things.
It's tax time.
Come March.
Everybody's getting their returns everybody's spending money you know why why do you want what we had last season when you
can have the new and improved and triple the price no thank you no no thank you
you know all of this leads back to saving and prepping for your family.
What are you doing for them?
What are you doing to make life just a little bit easier?
Yes, I understand that.
Well, Jordan, why would I go buy gloves and hats right now when we just don't have this?
You know what?
Vacuum seal them.
Put them in a gallon-sized Ziploc bag. Press out all the air, okay? Compacts it down really small.
And put it in your winter clothes. Put it in your winter drawer or wherever it is you do.
I change out our seasonal clothing. I always leave one or two items from each season only because the weather could change.
I could decide I want a sweater during the summer for whatever reason, whether I'm cold inside or I
know I'm going to the doctor's office or going somewhere to have tests done, and I know they
keep it like a meat locker. But I vacuum seal our clothes up. I have one of those large ziploc ones yes it is not necessarily
a cheap expenditure but it pays for itself because i've used it many a times when moving
i've used it for putting clothes up for getting things out of the way
and it works it works for us do the same with what you if it's clothing or wears that you know
you don't have to use right now we'll seal it up i mean i used to do the same with my children's
stuff i'd go and i'd buy them coats two or three sizes ahead and then to take not take up so much
space you vacuum seal it up put it in in a tote, guess what? You're good for next season.
One less thing to worry about. One less expenditure that you're trying to scrounge together in a pinch
when come next season, you don't know what's happened. You could have been laid off or your
job could have cut back hours or you had an unexpected
expense come up that you just can't afford to put out for the extra. Now, I know we're not going to
let our children go without. I know we're not. But it's the fact that it takes that burden or that
stress off your back of what you could encounter. Prepping is a security blanket. It is a
sense of peace and ease and everything that is crazy and mad and just outright off about this
entire world. I mean it. And I had been trying to find a clip of the song Mad World because I feel like it fits
so well for this.
The, you know, that's the thing is we have to be that level of peace.
We have to be that level of composure.
We have to be that foundation when everything else around us has gone mad.
And I know, I know there are times we want to rip out our own hair and we want to say, I can't, I can't do this. Or we want to cop
out and say, I don't know what we're going to do. I'm broke. Oh, if this situation happens, we're just fucked. No, that's giving up. That's copping out.
That is letting every bit of darkness around you win when that's not how this works.
I understand that times are tough. I understand that money is stretched as far as it can go. I get that. Trust me, I get that. You are not preaching
to anyone who hasn't been through that or is currently going through that. I absolutely
understand. But there are ways and means to making sure that you are able to provide and do for your family. Guess what?
I understand there are things we enjoy in life.
Do you have to have those four streaming networks?
You know what I'm talking about.
Yeah, the Netflix, Prime, Hulu, YouTube TV.
I mean, the list goes on of the streaming networks.
Paramount and HBO.
Are you really gaining anything from those?
Yes, I understand they're nice and they're enjoyable, but you know, there's a lot of other places you can see films or movies that are free.
There's a lot of networks that offer it.
If you have a phone plan, a lot of those combine regardless
of whether you want the streaming app with it. My Spectrum for my internet, which I have to have for
work, actually combines some TV in my package for free. Yeah, a lot of places do that.
Yeah, a lot of places do that.
Is that extra membership to something that, you know, that zoo membership?
How often are you taking the kids to the zoo?
Now, I'm not saying or trying to tell you to take things away from your children.
I understand you want to keep them happy.
But, you know, you've got to look down, break it down.
Are there other things you can do that aren't going to cost as much? Are there other things that are free where you could take the kids for hikes? You can, you know, I understand that you are,
um, when you are out and about or you're spending money to go to the garden,
When you are out and about or you're spending money to go to the garden.
Sorry, I just got a message.
So when you're out, you know, let the kids help you plant.
Yes, it is chaotic, but you know what?
It's okay.
Kids don't learn by just standing back and watching. Kids have to get their hands dirty.
Kids have to learn and fall and giggle and fart. Yes, that's just how kids work. It is. Let them roll in the mud. Let them get dirty. Have a day where they get to play outside in the water hose
and make a mess of things outside. That's things you don't get back.
Those are laughters and tears of joy that you get to enjoy. And those are memories.
Because after the sixth visit to the zoo, they all kind of run together.
I remember each of my visits to the zoo because I didn't go very often. So yes, that was fun.
But if I'd gone all the time, I don't think I would have enjoyed it. Um, then again, I wasn't
a big zoo person, but that's besides the point. It's, it's the fact that there are other things
you can do. I do have where every so often when I'm able to, I stock up on canvases. I always keep, I always have a lot of
acrylic paint on me because for those of you who don't know, I enjoy painting. I enjoy letting my
children express that and let them paint whatever they want, however they want. I have used painting as an outlet for me when I'm stressed or upset that I have a few
canvases I've worked on in which I'll paint and then I hand stitch the artwork into it. It is
tedious and it is time consuming, but I love it. So for me, when things seem bleak or stressful, I turn to painting.
Now, do I understand that that is an expenditure? Absolutely. The only good thing for me is I don't
do it all the time. So the one time I decide, hey, I can afford this, I make sure I have plenty,
and it typically it's for my kids, you know, every now and
then I'll be like, you know, I want to paint with them, but being able to watch them and see them
be creative, you know, for me, I've been fortunate enough that my crocheting and my sewing has paid
for itself. So I don't have to dip into certain things. Yes, there was a baseline in which I did,
certain things, yes, there was a baseline in which I did. But for what we do outside of things that don't have a practicality or use, you always invest in what you're doing. Prepping is an
investment. The first year of Canon is a big spend, but it is a baseline investment because by year
three, you have made up all of the money.
I'd say not even by year three, but for definite, I think it'd be before, but definitively by
year three, you've made up in your expenses for your Canon and the items that you've bought. As long as you're
consistently cannon or trying to, you have made up for those expenses because it is an investment
that pays for itself. My first, you know, my investment in a good sewing machine
has paid for itself. I do hand embroidery. My, well, I wouldn't say I bought
this. I received this sewing machine I have currently as a Christmas gift from my mother
that has an embroidery machine built into it. Now it is a much older model, which I have to update,
but it has saved me in a pinch. For those of you who
follow my Instagram and saw where we dressed the little man as Rick Austin for Halloween,
you know, that saved me from having to hand stitch his onesie because I crocheted his
beard. I crocheted his boots. I sewed his pants from Ode BDUs. You know, I made as much as I could
for as little as I could because I used, you know, older BDUs, cut them up, and I made him
made them clothes. It works. So you don't have to break the bank to take care of your family.
Don't have to break the bank to take care of your family.
There are, but, but remember what you do to take care of your family as it is an investment.
It's not you being idle.
It's not you just being wasteful as long as you're, you're putting food up for your family, because there's going to be a day where maybe your check is a little bit tighter
or a little bit shorter than what you were hoping for
because little Sally was sick last week.
Or whatever it be.
Then you have one less meal you have to worry about buying for.
Invest in your life. Invest in your family because the craziness around us is not going to stop. The craziest craziness around us is, if anything, is only going to get larger
and grow and be even more chaotic than what we thought before. I mean,
if you think about it, it's kind of like the shirt in the, you know, February is calm amongst
the chaos, right? Calm within chaos. You have to be that for your family. You have to be that for yourself and give yourself grace.
Give your loved ones grace because it's not easy.
And I understand it is stressful and tiresome,
but you can do it.
We're all making it through.
We all are going through some hard times
and some very stressful moments and are just
exhausted. I can tell you right now, I am absolutely and completely exhausted. And if I
could lay down and sleep for a week straight, I would. Don't think I wouldn't. But my family is counting on me, regardless of how I'm feeling,
regardless of what is going on, regardless of the world around me. My family is still counting on me.
That should be enough drive. You should be your own motivation. I refuse to give up and not try anymore.
I refuse.
I just realized my mug is out of water.
But it's just...
You gotta realize there's a lot going on around people.
Everybody has something that they're working on.
So if you're new to listening to PBN, I'm sorry you got my show first.

You know?
I think that everyone has such an opportunity and the ability to do things,
even when you don't think you have the strength to go on through the hard times.
Even if you don't think you have the money or the power, I promise you, you do.
More than you realize.
more than you realize. And yes, sometimes it's emptying all the couch cushions for that little bit of extra change to get by sometimes. I get it. Been there, done that
many a times and not long ago, but that is, that is the way of the world.
Plan out your meals. Plan out what your family needs. You don't have to have the fanciest
gadgets or gadgets to be able to take care of your family. You don't.
Never understood those full electronic homes. Nothing against the individuals who do,
you know, to each their own. You like it. I love it. Not my cup of tea.
know, to each their own. You like it. I love it. Not my cup of tea. I still use a P28 can opener because every can opener I've ever owned either dies or breaks. And it is the one can opener
that has worked consistently every time. Yes. Does it take a little bit? Yeah. Yeah. But I like it. I like my can opener.
It works.
We know where it's at.
We all know how to use it.
No problems there.
And believe it or not, it's a can opener.
One of my, I think my son, my son bought me for Christmas years ago.
It has like a little mini spoon on it or something.
He bought it for me when he was probably about six or seven
with his own money. And, uh, I still use it today. It has been my trusty utensil in the kitchen,
regardless. Every electric can opener, every hand can opener, they all break so easily.
And that one has worked, tried and true, throughout all these years.
And he's now 14.
So what, seven, eight years now?
That tells you something. Sometimes some of the best things you can have for the odor are the less fancy.
Yes, sometimes do they take a little bit more work?
Absolutely.
But that's okay.
You know, and if you are not a big time listener all the time, go into the Instagram.
Follow each of the hosts if you want.
But definitely follow James. follow each of the hosts if you want,
but definitely follow James. So James has a page called Survival and Preparedness.
Okay, it's underscore survival,
underscore and underscore preparedness.
He does morning lives throughout the week
and you should definitely check it out.
He does recaps about what's going on, who's podcasting, and he'll have a morning or evening
live with his coffee and the chickens and the dogs and the family.
And that's what it's about.
Prepping is real.
And we're not people hiding behind masks and saying, you know what, I'm not even going to go into that one.
You just got to realize we're not those people.
We're real, just like you and me.
Just like everybody else.
We go through the same hardships.
We go through the same heartache and pain.
And that's just the way of the world.
When was this that he was live?
But yes, he goes live.
You can get it where you can be notified when he goes live.
And it's great.
It's just great.
It's just a short little clip, almost a little bit longer than a daily audio cache.
But he covers things in there.
You know, you get to see the intrepid commander directly himself and just find out what's going on with the network, what's going on with the world. And each of our hosts have that ability
to be able to share that with you.
And that's just something you definitely want to look into.
Today's show is not going to be very long, only because I do have to be off by a specific time, but I definitely want it to come on air and hopefully open some eyes to pay attention.
I know we all get very narrow-visioned with what's going on around us.
I am just as guilty as everybody else, but take a second and just pay attention to what's going on around you.
There are signs everywhere of what's going on, the chaos itself. There are,
it's more than apparent. So do what you can to take care of your family. Grow your own food if you can. You know what,
if you can't do a lot, try growing tomatoes this year. Try growing anything. Just try,
you know, your own herbs or lettuce or sweet potatoes. Potatoes and sweet potatoes are
so easy and so much fun. The kids enjoy that. Take the time and the effort to do more for yourself.
Like James's Live, he had mentioned the other day about buying the big bulk containers of seasoning.
And like he said, you know, yes, you may not use a lot. Just do it. In the long run, you're going to save yourself so much money.
And it's so much cheaper.
It really is.
And you're talking to someone who figures in every cent when I go shopping.
It is so much cheaper and so much more of a save in the long run.
And you can put up extra and not have to worry.
If you don't want to, then make your own.
You know, grow some onions or buy onions and dehydrate them and powder them. I'm going to
tell you right now though, if you dehydrate your own onions or garlic, do not have the dehydrator
in the house. Please do not. You will burn yourself up with the smell and burn your eyes and it's intense
it is super intense i i've done it in a garage and had to keep the garage open the entire time
the dehydrate dehydrator was running because the smell is stout beyond stout all right so i do i'm
dying of thirst here i am going to go to a quick commercial
and then I will be right back. On the brink of blackouts again, as power demand reached an all
time record high overnight, slivers of the golden state plunged into darkness.
It expects to continue with stage six, running blackouts for the rest of the week.
A scheduled outage on Thursday, but the one that happened Sunday,
it wasn't scheduled, it was unexpected, and it lasted longer than a day.

And we see it time and time again.
So you know what? Be that threat.
Be that force that everybody else has to reckon with. They will either envy you or hate you.
or hate you. I'd rather know that my family is taken care of by myself than ever have a hundred million people like me because I don't care and you shouldn't
either what other people think. You should be content with the morning walks
to your garden and gathering the eggs or feeding the sheep or
your pigs or goats or whatever it is. Set yourself a goal. Start somewhere. It doesn't have to be big,
but make sure you do what you need to do to take care of your family.
Because when it comes down to it, the government and the big societies or whatever
you want to call them, factions, are not going to be the ones to take care of you. Our nation
and society has put people to be so dependent upon it that they have crippled our nation in a whole.
responded that they have crippled our nation in a whole. People are so crippled by being codependent upon all of these assistance. Now, I'm not telling people to not go out there and
receive assistance if they need it. By no means am I telling you that. But understand that you
can do things to take care of yourself and to take care of your family.
And when it comes down to it and shit hits the fan,
you are going to be the only person looking out for you and your own family.
And that unfortunately is true.
And it's the way of the world.
So be mindful, give yourself grace and and try to put yourself in a situation where you can see it from all sorts of situations play the what-if game play it but don't put yourself into
a corner and say there's nothing i can do i'm broke I can't do this. We're fucked.
Nope, that's a cop out.
I promise you there is always something. Sit down, write up every expense that you have if you have to.
And even if it's only saving 50 cents a paycheck, do it.
What expenses are something you actually need?
And what expenses are just something that you want?
And when it comes down to it, if you are in that type of a situation, you'll always figure out a way to make sure that your family is never in need.
That you'll find a way to be able to manage the situations. That you can do this. That you can take care of
your family. I've been on many of hard times and I'm currently going through some of the hardest
times. But I'm not letting that bring me down. And I'm not going to let that stop me from taking care of my family or prepping or moving about and doing what I need to do.
I'm not.
And neither should you.
There are going to be days where we are tired and we hurt.
And I know I'm repeating myself, but it's the facts. You're going to be tired. You're going to be days where we are tired and we hurt. And I know I'm repeating myself, but it's the facts.
You're going to be tired.
You're going to be hurting.
You're going to be drained emotionally, mentally, even financially.
But we don't give up.
We never give up.
That's why we as preppers want to learn as many skills as we can.
Why we want to be as self-sufficient and independent as we can be.
I get it. You don't have a lot of money to buy a bunch of pots of soil or bags of soil or whatever.
Make a little square in your yard. It doesn't have to be very big. Dig it up a little bit. Turn it.
Do what you got to.
Start a little compost in that same spot and turn it, you know,
throw it down in there and dig it up and turn it over and garden.
Well, what about the animals?
You know what?
I am dealing with the same thing with my neighbor's cats,
deciding that my flower bed or my little raised garden is their litter box.
So what am I doing? I'm getting some netting. Netting is pretty inexpensive and I'm sure I have some somewhere. I'm using
the stakes from the tomato plants because I can buy them cheap, the green ones, and I'm zip tying
them to that all the way around to my little porch
fence just to keep, yes, is it extra work for me? Yes, but I'm putting two posts on one so I can be
able to pull it out and move it when I need to, but I can still leave a loose zip tie at the top
of the other green one so I can slide it in there and use it as like a lock. So I can try to keep my neighbor's cats out of it.
There is always a way.
You will always find a means to be able to do it.
I have a ridiculous amount of zip ties.
Some I bought, some I've accrued over the years.
And I'm sure someone has zip ties around
you if you need them to do the same thing with yours, but there are ways around it. You don't
have to spend a ridiculous amount of money, but it never hurts when you're sitting down in your
budget and that, hey, I would like to put up $5 every paycheck towards our summer garden.
five dollars every paycheck towards our summer garden. Why? Because, well, it pays for itself in the long run of us getting, you know, squash and cucumbers and fruits and vegetables and greens,
which saves you a lot of money in the long run from the store because,
boy, those prices are not going down and they're not going to go down anytime soon.
We're not in the world where gas was 89 cents a gallon and that was high.
We're not in a world where a loaf of bread used to be only 89 cents and that was high.
we're not in the world where a simple can of vegetables was 50 cents. And that was,
wasn't, uh, you know, wasn't low is what I mean to be saying. That was, that was kind of high.
And, you know, and the sad thing is, is the 50 cents a can was just three years ago. If that, I know it's 80 something cents a can and up, prices are not going to go down.
So we have to be prepared to feed our family.
have to be prepared to feed our family. And when we take the time to invest in ourselves and invest in our loved ones, we make it work. And in the long run, we're not spending that much
money on everything. Like I said, in the previous show, you can make a meal. You know, when we set
it down, I was talking to my partner, I was talking to Chris about the meals I make. And I was telling her, oh, y'all can make it for 10 to $20 for a
family. It's not even that much because I gave the total of an entire bag of potatoes as $5,
but I can get four meals, three or four meals from the bag, depending on the size of the potatoes and how big of a bag I can.
So you can feed your family at a reasonable price. And you know what? I think I am going to
write up some of the meals that I make. I am going to write out the recipes. So if anyone is interested, let me know.
And I am going to write next to it roughly the cost of what it is per person or per meal or per dinner set meal.
And I think that would be some way to show you that we don't have to break the bank to make ends meet.
And I would love to hear some easy or some cheap or cost-effective meals that you make
or that you plan or prep for.
I would love to hear this because I think this is where it really starts
is being able to plan just your meals is a great start.
It's an amazing start.
All right, folks, I do have to get off here.
Remember, the world is crazy.
Doesn't mean you have to be.
Keep your head up. I understand it can get discouraging, Remember, the world is crazy. Doesn't mean you have to be.
