A person who advocates and practices preparedness.
One ready for any event that would disrupt their daily routine.
That is a prepper.
Hello, all you preppers out there in Internet Radio Land.
This is Dave Jones, the NBC guy.
How are you doing on this wonderful Saturday?
It's wonderful because we're done for a while processing
turkeys. And man, we did three geese and ten turkeys in two days. And thank the Lord the weather was good. Not a lot of humidity.
It was really, really nice.
And it went very smooth.
And now you know why I have three refrigerators and five freezers.
Imagine putting ten turkeys and three geese in your family fridge.
Because, you know, once you, you know, do the thing and process them and get them all,
you got to refrigerate them for a while.
And so that's what we're doing.
As a matter of fact, since Alex moved out,
we're going to use his little apartment fridge. Yeah, we're going to be
smoking some turkey. Oh yeah.
Oh yeah, I built a smoker
last year, and it does not
get used enough. Just out of a sheet of plywood and some 4x4s for legs.
And it's 4 feet tall.
2 feet by 2 feet.
Because it was one sheet of plywood and I cut it up.
Maybe I should put plans on it.
I even lined it with cedar.
You know that cedar interlocking stuff that you put inside closets?
I lined it with that.
So that it wouldn't have any kind of plywood like, you know, facing the meat.
And, you know, put some hooks in there.
The way I make the smoke is I have a very small wood stove
that's just for outdoor use.
I got this on clearance.
It was like $100 a couple years ago.
We were heating.
We were going to try and heat
the greenhouse in the winter with this thing and it would consume more wood than then we'd be able
to so that that idea went out the window but i had this little box this metal box of a wood stove
so i can put some charcoal on the bottom of it and then my smoking
wood, if I want to do hickory, apple, or mesquite
or whatever I want to smoke it with, on top
of the charcoals. And then I just light the
charcoals up and the smoke goes through the box and
out the top.
And it works really well.
When I first made it, we smoked a bunch of stuff in it just to experiment and see if it's going to work.
Maria was getting upset with me because I have a smoker.
One of those, what do they call, egg things?
It's the cheap for smoking Joe, I think it's called.
I don't know.
I got it on special.
I'm all about the deals.
Anyway, three or four years ago, and it was a Christmas deal or a Black Friday, I don't know. But it's too hot. It's too hot.
It kind of turns everything into jerky, unintentionally.
jerky, unintentionally.
Great smoke flavor,
but there's a level of heat there that I can't eliminate.
And now this new smoker
just smokes them.
And I mean, it does a great job.
We smoked some sausage.
She made some sausage. We hung it
in there. You'd be
surprised what you can do with very little. With just
hey, I think I'll make something out of nothing.
Yeah. But that's not why I'm doing this daily
audio cash. Oh my gosh people people people
people was that on McClintock
I love John Wayne
and I know Sarah Hathaway loves John Wayne too
but he had a guy on there and he would go
people people people to get the attention, get everybody's attention.
Anyway, I have had an insatiable craving for shotgun.
Shotgun shells, double barrel shotgun. I mentioned this before. I
don't know why this is. My inclination, when these things happen, I just go with it. Okay,
so I picked up another 100 rounds of shotgun shells at Walmart for $76.
If you want to get cheap, inexpensive loads for a 12-gauge shotgun, there you go.
This right here is the Rotgut Whiskey trading material.
Okay, when the grid goes down, has a 12 gauge it's the most
common shotgun round next is 20 gauge same amount of shot just a different
pattern okay 20 gauge is more like birds and skeet and things like that.
12 gauge is more like a flat out
spread. Where's Dane D on this?
Dane D, tell us the difference between a 12 gauge
and a 20 gauge shotgun.
Come on, man.
Get on PBN.
We need you.
I am getting ready for my afternoon nap, and the warden does not know I'm not napping yet.
I have instituted this policy of afternoon naps,
and it's working out pretty good because she gets a little break from me and I get a whole lot of break from her.
Just saying.
And did you hear Phoenix Survival, the blue screen of death?
Oh my gosh. survival. The blue screen of death.
Oh my gosh.
Jay Ferg has a bunch of people tune in to her Saturday morning. Saturday morning.
What are they doing that they can get up Saturday morning and listen live
to Jay Ferg? I don't know. They must be preppers.
They must be preppers. They must be.
So if you can help Jay Ferg out
with getting one of these pouches,
I got one of her foraging bags.
Now, okay, full disclosure,
okay, I was experimenting with it,
and I found it to be
small for what I'm foraging.
Okay? And we gifted
it to our neighbor
who loves it. Loves it. Absolutely loves it.
They watch our animals when we go on vacation,
and this was a gift to them.
We used it a few times and found it to be small,
but she has many iterations.
The thing about Jay Ferg, she will custom make you a pouch or a bag.
So if you want a pouch or a bag, you got to get a hold of her.
And she'll fix it up and send it right out.
I mean, this is unbelievable.
sent it right out. I mean, this is unbelievable.
And I think it's therapy for her and it's a bag for you. So there you go.
And Jay Ferger, if you're listening,
I can't wait for the Feminine
Product Review. I just cannot wait for that.
That right there, that, wow.
Piqued my interest.
Joking, joking.
Okay, so I'm going to sign off here.
I don't know why I'm craving shotgun shells and shotguns.
I want a double fired shotgun. I don't know why I'm craving shotgun shells and shotguns. I want a double-barred shotgun.
I don't know why.
It's probably the most impractical weapon you can have.
I just want one.
I have no idea.
Maybe it's a past life thing.
I don't know. But it's a past life thing. I don't know.
But I mentioned Sarah Hathaway.
She's coming up tomorrow night.
Changing Earth.
Changing Earth.
Oh, I don't know if I'm allowed to say it.
But there's a binge.
There is a binge episode.
A binge weekend that's coming up I'm going to let her explain
but if you did voices for Sarah Hathaway
and you are a character
in her audio drama
it's time to stand up character in her audio drama,
it's time to stand up.
It's time to be counted.
And she'll tell you all about that. I don't know which voice I'll do. Oh, I'm working on a new one.
It's a new character. And she said he's going to be
around for a while.
So I don't know.
I got to work.
It's a Viking. And I have been thinking about this voice.
Maybe not so close to the mic.
I'm not sure.
But I open my throat and inhale.
Anyway, I'm working on it.
It's a work in progress.
What can I say?
I hope you like these daily audio caches.
You know, if nothing else, they're entertaining.
I try to be informative and entertaining.
So there you go.
Maybe I should do a video on how I built the smoker or explain.
Out of one sheet of plywood, yeah, one sheet of plywood and a 4x4
for the legs
and then
I lined the inside with that
cedar
interlocking tongue and groove
cedar lining
that you put inside of a closet
and
it was
I used the nail gun and bang bang bang it was
together and it's two feet by two feet by four
feet it's a nice nice smoker
and really if you don't
have one of these little box wood stoves things
metal woods you could put any kind
of smoke in this thing, in the box.
So, you could make a fire and funnel the smoke into the box.
Yeah.
Listen, I'm going to post this
I'm not sure if it will get any listens
but you take care
hey and if you want to email me
there is a listener out there that wants my sticks
he hasn't
emailed me back yet
memory sticks
anyway my email address is nbcguy at protonmail.com.
And my website is nbcguy.com.
So if you want to go check out my website,
there's stuff on there.
Yeah, nb NBCguy.com.
Take care and prep on.
