Starting point is 00:00:00 A person who advocates and practices preparedness. One ready for any event that would disrupt their daily routine. That is a prepper. Hello, everyone out there in Internet Radio Land. This is Dave Jones, the NBC guy, coming to you on the 1st of January, 2024. Gosh, I almost wrote 2023 to a couple people today, and they're going to think I'm, you know, dementia. Anyway, oh my gosh.
Starting point is 00:00:54 I got to tell you, with all the challenges and all the things that we can see in 2024, I want you to know that I have hope. I have hope for of all the hosts that are on PBN that got it. They got it. They're doing it. They're doing the thing. You know, James says,
Starting point is 00:01:36 you are what you do every day. And I'll tell you what, every day I feed the animals. I have established a position, and I improve upon it daily. Okay? So, my challenge to you all, to bring my hope to fruition,
Starting point is 00:02:02 is that you analyze where you are right now and figure out where you want to be 365 days from now. If it's weight loss, if you wrote down on a calendar or your goals, I want to lose one pound, one pound a month.
Starting point is 00:02:28 You'll be 12 pounds lighter in a year's time. If I want to lose one pound a week, you know, if you do the math, it's baby steps. And that's all about prepping is baby steps. Establishing a position and improve upon it every day. Incremental steps that you can achieve.
Starting point is 00:03:02 Put goals down that you know you can achieve just to put the feedback in your brain of success. I make lists. I check things off. The endorphins that are produced in my brain by checking a thing off or lining it out, that's success. And success breeds success, just like failure breeds failure. You want to get in a mode where you can continually succeed.
Starting point is 00:03:39 If the obstacles are put in your way, COVID is an excellent example. the obstacles are put in your way, COVID. COVID is an excellent example. COVID came to us I mean, every Hollywood scenario predicted this, but bam, there it was. And Maria said, who preps for a pandemic? And I said, I do, honey. I had bought my N95s, I think in the year 2000.
Starting point is 00:04:13 They were on clearance. I got a gross of them, a gross. That's 144. I was using them to mow the grass and things like that. So I wouldn't breathe it in. So I had stuff for the pandemic. Now, did I have everything? No.
Starting point is 00:04:34 I shifted my prepper budget specifically for that. And, you know, right now when ammunition's high, when you can't get, if you listened to the show last night, you got some really good insight on what true preppers are thinking and doing and planning and, you, and working ahead for.
Starting point is 00:05:06 Man, that show last night was great. I hope the Intrepid Commander puts it up next year, the day before we do the next New Year's show. And I think we should do a next. Just so you see, you have a reference. Just so you see, you have a reference. I pledged fitness because since I started this job, I've been putting on the poundage.
Starting point is 00:05:37 And, you know, fitness is like an investment. You see dividends later on in life. It's like a retirement account. If you lose that pound of fat now, you will live longer later. So it's one of those things. It's like an IRA, retirement account, a 401k. You put the investment and time and effort in now and it pays off later. I have always been a fitness guy. You know, trying to eat right. All that kind of stuff. Always.
Starting point is 00:06:13 My whole life. And for the past, well, 20 years. Yeah. Not so much. So I never thought I'd live this long. I thought my lifestyle and, you know, but once I got kids, once I found Maria, wow. So, you know, you never know you never know where this twisted road called life will take you and now I'm a history teacher at a private Christian school after surviving four years
Starting point is 00:06:58 of retirement okay I was retired four years and worked here at the house and I was able to keep that weight off because of all the activity. And now, apparently, I need to step up my game. And that's what I'm doing for 2024. I am stepping up my game. I am stepping up my game. I appreciate all those kind words that everybody said last night that they would take my 67-year-old butt over most 40-year-olds right now. I appreciate that. Part of that is mental.
Starting point is 00:07:42 And I always tell Alex this. If you get your mind engaged, your butt will follow. If you say, I'm going to do this no matter what, obstacles disappear. Things that you thought were insurmountable, you will eliminate. So it's almost like the mind creating a future. And I mean, when you think about it, your mind is like the most powerful computer
Starting point is 00:08:21 on the planet, okay? And this is true. This is, and I used to point this out to people, what do you do when you cross the road? Many of you said, look both ways. And that is true. When do you learn that? About four, maybe five.
Starting point is 00:08:43 Okay? And think about what happens when you look both ways. You calculate the distance across the road, how fast your feet will take you. You judge each oncoming car and decide in a second to go or not go. There's no computer in the world today that can take in that sensory input and make that decision. You have done it since four. If you program your mind,
Starting point is 00:09:19 there is nothing that you can't accomplish. I'm chuckling because there's so many times in my own life that I didn't know I was programming my mind. I did it and then I realized long after I achieved that goal because I set it down on a piece of paper. I could give you example after example. Just being the shortest state trooper in the history of Alaska is one thing. That's one thing. A private investigator, I put this in my high school yearbook at 18 years old. They ask you what you wanted to do as a career path, private investigator.
Starting point is 00:10:12 That yearbook was packed away. I did 20 years in the Army, pulled it out after 20 years and when I read it I was shocked because on the wall of my office that I built downstairs was the license to be a private investigator in the state of Pennsylvania. So I programmed my mind all those years ago, years ago. and at 18 years old, I had no idea what the requirements for a private investigator was. But all those years, my mind was working on solving the problem.
Starting point is 00:11:00 Listen, I have hope for 2024 because I know you all are out there and you should have hope too because you're on PBN, your path back to stability. You're with us and we're all in this together. You're in great company, PBN family. Take care and prep on.
