A person who advocates and practices for preparedness, one ready for any event that will disrupt their daily routine.
That is a prepper.
Hello everyone out there in Internet Radioland.
This is Dave Jones, the NBC guy, coming to you on Saturday.
What a beautiful fall Saturday we got going on right here in northern Virginia.
Holy cow, I got too much stuff to do and not enough daylight to do it in.
Are you finding yourself in that situation?
Well, right now, I am out and about.
The warden has gave me a work release program.
I got to run over to the school.
setting up for a
Veterans Day breakfast.
They're going to have it on Monday.
There's no school on Monday or Tuesday.
And they made it a teacher work day.
So all the teachers have to help with the breakfast.
It's fascinating.
They want to try and do this annually.
This is the first year.
And guess who they're going to have
as the speaker at the
breakfast.
Yes, the NBC guy.
So I've been working on what I want to say
and
I may just read it to you guys
probably tomorrow
just to let you know what I'm going to say
and to practice
to practice I've got to see how
long it runs and if it will fit in the program
good and I'd appreciate
any feedback but by the time i get feedback i'll probably will have already had it done uh the program
starts at eight o'clock monday morning so and yeah you you might even hear a little something that you
don't know about the nbc guy so stay tuned for that um going in town right now going to fill up
some propane tags.
Oh, I scored big time this week on a 3,500-watt generator.
I walked into Walmart, and there it was.
It was out of the box, and it was $200.
And it's one of those little portable generators.
It's not an inverter.
It's an actual generator, and it's gasoline power.
but it's light enough
I was able to pick it up and take it out of
the back of the car. Now granted
there was no fuel in it but
it's that light
and portable
and $200
I can't believe it
it's a $3,500
steady run and
4,500 like surge
capacity so it's almost
a 5KW generator
which is awesome
for $200
Brand new, it's not a return.
There's no gas or oil in it.
It's never been started.
So I'm going to send away for the owner's manual and register it.
I also spent the $29 to get the three-year protection plan just in case.
But, geez, for $200, you can't beat that.
Maria is, and the reason I probably would have picked up on it anyways,
but we're planning to do
kind of a food truck
kind of thing, okay?
Farmers market,
a weekend food truck
with Romanian food.
Meach,
fresh baked bread,
and maybe soup.
We have all
this stuff right now and we just got the license we got to get the inspection you know
got to have all your government regulations in order here before you do any of that stuff so
and that's we're going to launch it this spring we may do a couple test runs here and there
just just to work out the menu and the cooking and the procedures and all that kind of stuff
but that's the plan
and that little generator
is going to come in handy
Maria says
well what are we going to use it for
we're going to use propane for cooking
I said yeah but if you ever have a
freezer which we have
several small freezers
and you want to keep cold
stuff cold
you need to have a generator
run your freezer on and I said I could run
an air fryer we could toast things
you have way more versatility having electricity than not having it.
And I like the small portability of it.
That's something I don't have in my other generators because they're, you know,
8, 9,000 watt generators.
Heavy, big, heavy.
But the reason I'm doing this, and I don't know, you know,
Sometimes you get called to do one, and I don't know why I was called to do this one.
So I'm just going to put it out there.
For those of you who, you know, this may apply to, may not.
If you're going to do any kind of fighting with a knife, okay, you need to have a minimum five-inch blade.
minimum. Now if you have a smaller blade than that, just know you're going to be slicing and
dicing, but you're not going to hit any vital organs. Okay, you're not going to cause
major damage doing the slicing and dicing. Okay, yeah, you could cut some arteries, stuff like
that. But if you want to stab into someone,
And remember, I said this might be one of the things that you escalate in times of turmoil.
You may want to carry a fixed blade, you know, instead of your EDC folding knife or in addition to your EDC folding knife.
So I'm just telling you, in my three-knife concept, this is the camp knife, okay?
this is the camp knife that you would have
you know not not the small one that's like a neck knife
and not the big one that's like a machete
this is the in-between one the camp knife
and I recommend a Tanto blade
because they're great for penetration
and you can do a lot of stuff with it
so you know
And, you know, a fairly thick blade of a knife, you don't want to be able to, you know, if you're stabbing something, you don't want it to break off at the hilt, right?
So, of course, Fultang, Tanto blade, Tanto is that pointy thing, they can poke through car doors, so they can definitely penetrate body armor.
Well, I mean, Kevlar body armor.
They're not going to penetrate steel body armor.
Okay?
But just that's what you need.
You do know that the way you fight with a knife is it's always in your strong hand.
Okay?
So if you're taking a fighting stance, your weak hand is up front to jab and to block.
and your strong hand is in the back held in reserve to land that blow.
Well, that's where you want that knife.
You do not want it out front, especially in your weak hand,
because you want to be able to deliver the blow,
just like if you were punching.
A knife is just a tool, an extension of your fighting skills.
Okay, so just like you get in your fighting stance and your strong arm is back,
that's where the knife has got to be right at your hip.
And able to do it, you know, forehand and backhand.
So be able to flip that flip fixed blade both ways.
So you can, you know, overhand stab something or thrust and stab something.
you could practice that being able to change positions with your strong hand and then you know once you get that down pretty good start practicing with your weak hand what happens if your strong hand is not viable anymore
you know god gives you two you should be able to work them both anyway i don't know why i was on knife fighting today it just seemed to
fly in my brain and I said, you know, this is a thing that is rarely talked about how long your
knife has to be to be an effective, you know, knife fighting tool. So five inches or more. Or more.
And that will get you where you need to be. So PBM family, take all that.
for what it's worth. I am heading out and maybe I'll add some more later, but I think I'm going to
sign off and I will read you my speech tomorrow. As soon as I get her finished. I mean, I know what
I want to say. I just want to get some thoughts down on paper so I don't go off, you know,
on some strange tangent, as sometimes I do.
So take care and prep on.
