Starting point is 00:00:00 To oppose tyranny and fight for the rights our creator bestowed us in the United States Constitution. We are the Prepper Broadcasting Network. Hello, hello, hello everyone out there in Internet Radioland. This is Dave Jones, the NBC guy. Oh my gosh, I almost forgot to do this daily audio cache. Yes, it's late, I know, but it's important. Okay? So, I wanted to explain my theory of too many firsts.
Starting point is 00:00:57 The Intrepid Commander mentioned it on Monday night. And I wanted to explain what too many firsts are. Okay? You want to set your people up for success, not failure. You don't want to test them. You definitely don't want to test them in critical times, but you don't want to set them up so that they make mistakes.
Starting point is 00:01:27 You want to set them up so they have success. And the way to do that is to eliminate the firsts. Okay? First time I ever used this weapon. First time I ever guarded this post. First time I ever guarded this post. First time I ever used the radio. Do you understand? When you have too many first times, you are looking at failure. Failure. That is it.
Starting point is 00:01:59 You want to team those people up with people that have done it, have been there, and help them to learn. Okay? So, when you have too many firsts, maybe it's the first time you ever butchered. Okay. But is it the first time you ever used these knives? Is it the first time you ever butchered anything? Do you understand? You don't want too many firsts. I can give
Starting point is 00:02:31 you an excellent example of this. We went scuba diving off the coast of Florida. And the class that I was with, okay, now I'm a dive master. I've been diving for years. I can teach, not teach, but, well, I can teach snorkeling. A PADI dive master can lead dives into other countries and stuff like that. So I set this up, but everybody in that class went off the coast of Florida.
Starting point is 00:03:10 Now this is the first time they ever dove in the open sea. It was the first time they ever dove at night. It was the first time they had ever dove to this great of a depth. Okay? It was the first time they ever dove off of a boat. They had dove in lakes where they walked off piers and stuff like that. They had never went out in a boat and dove off of a boat. And at night.
Starting point is 00:03:48 And to that depth. Okay? And then the last thing, the instructor, not me, the instructor said to them, If you see a shark, don't do anything with them. They feed at night. Okay. Now, you could have heard their buttholes slamming shut right then. One woman went into the water and she came up and she said, I will never dive again. Another man threw up in his regulator. The sea was kind of rough that night.
Starting point is 00:04:30 You do not want too many firsts in your operation. So you have to ask people, have you ever done this before? Did you ever do this before? Did you ever do this thing? You know, what you want to set them up for success. When you have too many firsts, you're looking at failure. There's no other way. One first, okay. Two first, maybe. Three first, danger. Two first, maybe. Three first, danger.
Starting point is 00:05:06 Four first, failure. Failure, failure, failure. I'm just saying. So that is my theory of firsts. Okay. Just like every piece of equipment you have, you need to know the capabilities and limitations of that equipment. It's the same way with your people.
Starting point is 00:05:31 You need to know what they can do and what they can't do. You don't ask some, you know, 60-year-old guy to go out there and load this truck full of sandbags. Okay? You're just going to make him hurt. And, well, I'm just saying. Capabilities and limitations. I'm feeling mine right now, by the way. Oh my gosh. Yeah, I got bit by a deer tick. And I've been hurting like crazy ever since.
Starting point is 00:06:12 Uh-oh. Gotta go eat. PBN family, take care. Prep on. Thank you.
