Starting point is 00:00:00 You're listening to pay the end. You will pay us back the stability here. Humans is short form content. Welcome in PBN family. The thought crossed my mind today that we are slowly but surely becoming TikTok shorts, YouTube shorts, short form content. But it is kind of funny because we in a way we are short form content because we only get a hundred years. So it's kind of like a yeah, we are short form content and the long and short of it is, but what most worries me is this sort of, I don't know, it's like a lily pad lifestyle.
Starting point is 00:01:10 Morning, Jay Ferg. Welcome in. Thanks for joining us. You know, I mean, we seem to jump from one sort of, what's up, Hunter? We seem to jump from successes to failures, shopping to purchases, purchases to sales, milestones to milestones. Morning Garden Girl over at Instagram.
Starting point is 00:01:38 Thanks everybody for joining us on the new Instagram. I can't promise you that this is going to do wonders for my Instagram lives that I do outside normally but now you get the actual podcast so enjoy it. But watching the world go as it goes it kind of puts me in in this perspective lately. Jay Ferg says we're lucky if we get a hundred years that's the truth. But it puts me in this mindset of like, I don't know, we're moving at such a pace, we're ingesting so much every single day, probably in all forms, right? Not just in media content and problems with the world and problems with the life.
Starting point is 00:02:23 And I know I harp on this all the time, but springtime is coming. and problems with the world and problems with the life. And I know I harp on this all the time, but springtime is coming. I mean, it's the bloom has begun, or at least the greening has begun here in Richmond, Virginia, and driving my own vehicle, I can't help but think about. All the things that go buzzing by in a day's time. And most people are concerned with, you know, the next big thing the next release the next this the next that and You know to some degree it is a little mind-numbing And it brought me to Sort of the concept about today's show humans are short-form content
Starting point is 00:03:02 we did a great interview with the confused girl in the city a few weeks ago was an interview that probably most of you looked at and went like what's going on here she had a tremendous ability to capture this kind of thing and it was pretty awesome it's pretty awesome I don't understand hang on I got to go take a puppy down real quick. Do you hear the puppy yelping in the back? Let me put something cool on for you to listen to or to watch You Sounds like we'll have no choice but to introduce you guys to the new puppy, because he's making himself known. Come here! Not you, or you.
Starting point is 00:04:18 We call him Goomba. His name is Goomba. And uh, come on. Come up here. Say hi to the people Goomba. Say hi to the people. I know you're bored. You don't want daddy to do a live show right now. Say hi to the people little Mr. Goomba. See, we have a Bowser, we have a Link, we have a Zella, we have a Goomba. And we lost our little girl Lola. I don't know, a couple weeks, months ago. I don't know. It was 15 years of heaven with that one.
Starting point is 00:04:59 And now she's gone. Now she's gone. And you know, we keep a pretty nice stall worth of pit bulls around. It's our thing, my wife and I. We may not be able to do a show today. I don't actually know. I guess I could put him outside with the other dogs. What can we run here? He was trying to get upstairs. He's seriously not happy with
Starting point is 00:05:35 They did do a good job with the Mario movie All right, hang on a minute Hang on a minute. Let's do don't I have like a media asset for the preppers medical handbook? I didn't mean for this to be such a heavy show on ads, but you know necessity you Things happen in life, just as what it is. Phones going off in the background, half the dogs went outside, the other half didn't. One of those mornings, man. Just one of those mornings man, just one of those mornings and it's kind of perfect because what's what what's happening in the universe right now is I had this idea of Taking life for what it is Right humans life is short-form content this sort of I mean you can see it in the way
Starting point is 00:07:01 The world is built now the things that people like now. My wife watches, what is it? Home and Garden, HGTV all the time. And it's always like the couples are, one of the couples, the persons in the couple, one of the people in the couple that's buying a house is always like, I want the modern, sleek, minimalist. I want the modern, sleek, minimalist. You look around at stuff anymore, and you see that there is a lot of soul lacking therein. You know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:07:35 There's a lot of soul lacking in the things that we invest our money in and spend our time in. That freaked me out the Instagram live stream sometimes freezes for me but not for everybody else and it's a picture of my car inside the car seat I didn't know what the hell was going on with that Jay Ferg says let him fuss pups are pups yeah they are but he's loud you could hear him right he's a little loud I don't think the listeners in the audience want to hear that in the background. I was listening to a Putin interview before I came on. I was going to put it on, but I
Starting point is 00:08:14 realized it was a loop. It was actually a short loop, maybe like 10, 15 minute loop. And he was talking about, it was pretty interesting. I threw it in the PBN, in our signal chat between hosts. But it was kind of interesting. You could probably look up Putin English interview, talking about Zelensky, talking about Ukraine, talking about deals with America, that kind of stuff. I don't know, it was kind of interesting. More importantly, and more focused on kind of what it is we're talking about, I don't know how to tell everybody to do this but I know that it's essential to do it and it's to slow down throughout the day. It's a mental thing a it's a mental thing. It's a physical thing and you kind of got to practice
Starting point is 00:09:05 You know what I mean, but if we don't slow down and if everything is just a frantic run from one Appointment to the next one, you know time to the next see we from 930 to this 30 We got to get here from this 30 to this 30. We got to get here Then we're rushing directly to the grave. That's the rush. That's where we're headed. That's the actual final destination. In other words, if your life is rushing from one place
Starting point is 00:09:35 to another, then all you're doing is rushing to death. The only time you get to really live is when you can pump the brakes slow down. You pump the brakes, you slow them. I mean the prepping community, the homesteading community is, you guys get this probably more than most because you tend gardens, because you swing hammers at anvils. We are going to do a hammer talk today. at anvils we are gonna do a hammer talk today hunter sf says of the this is a thing that my wife always remarks about but hunter sf in the in the Instagram chat says and he's talking about the HGTV
Starting point is 00:10:20 couples at biomes she's a preschool teacher and and he sharpens pencils for a living and their budget for a home is 1.6 million dollars and that's like legit. That stuff happens all the time. I don't know what's going on. You walk away from those shows going like what did I miss in life? Like what did what happened? What did I miss in life to wind up in this boat? And then there's this guy over here He's he's buying his third home in Alabama on the shore for What do you think honey 1.4 million dollars? You know what I mean
Starting point is 00:10:58 Funny you're right. You're right on the money though. You are definitely right on the money Let's get into what I want to get into. I mean this is sort of the concept. I do want you to sort of self-analyze and wrap your head around the fact that life is happening because everything's about to start blooming. Everything's about to start being beautiful outside and I just want you to slow down and see it. Last night, okay let's get into this It's time to go in here it's a scary place in here last night I
Starting point is 00:11:37 Live in a wooded little neighborhood, right? The Sun sets and the woods the trees go black As the sun sets behind it, you know, like one of those old charcoal or One of those old art projects used to make where you would do the background the sunset or the sunrise And then you would create the trees in black. I don't know if you did that in your school But we did those seemed like every year. I loved them. I thought they were really cool But i'm standing out there with my youngest and he's shooting on our basketball hoop and I Don't know if you get hit with this this could be a product of my own personal slowing down
Starting point is 00:12:16 Personal meditation that kind of stuff yoga. You're doing your yoga members You're doing your yoga this this month I didn't do any with you guys I apologize for that but it is what it is so I'm in the rush you know what I mean like in the rush of life but the sunset and the black trees catch my eye and I'm like okay look look look, look, look, look, look, look, it's happening. Slow down, you know, and my son's talking and I'm, you know, he's, I'm basically being his ball returned fundamentally. You know, you shoot, ball comes back to you. Great. If it comes back to me, I'll pass it to you. You practice passing, passing, shooting.
Starting point is 00:13:00 And I had one of those moments where I was looking at him and I was like, oh, And I had one of those moments where I was looking at him and I was like, oh, this is only temporary. And if you have those moments, I think you're in the pocket a little bit. If you have those moments where you can really stop and go like, all right, let me pause for a minute and look at these trees, right? These spires of nature shooting up into the sky. Man, do I have a poem for you guys about the trees. I think it's called We Simply Stand. I don't remember. I'm writing a whole... it's pretty much done and it's happened almost by accident, but it's
Starting point is 00:13:41 gonna be a whole anthology of poetry for men. And I think the book's gonna be called Poetry for Men. No offense, ladies. But what I see most missing in a lot of guys' life is art, history, poetry. These things are missing in men's lives and particularly the art and the poetry and the things. And the truth is they're non-negotiable, man. They're non-negotiable. You know what I mean? Again, they're things that are so uniquely human. And if you find yourself depressed or lost in the midlife crisis or the quarter life crisis, so three quarters life crisis, like you can be wrenched from that agony by just art and poetry, you know, but you've got it, it's back to that thing of like where I'm at with little figurines,
Starting point is 00:14:39 painting little figurines and getting in like totally wrapped up in the Warhammer universe. You want to do some things that make you feel kind of like almost nervous about them, like almost nervous to admit them. I think they're important. We have another dog who's entered the frame. I'm going to go let her out. The camera is gone crazy. Don't follow me. What can I show you now?
Starting point is 00:15:15 I don't even know what to show you anymore. Actually, I think about. Oh, you know what it is actually. We're going to let the alarm system sound. Oh, you know what it is actually? We're going to let the alarm system sound because that's just what it is. Hunter, dude, you do need yoga in your life. What's happening right now is there's a delivery coming to my house, which we should probably talk about. I would hope that they would hurry the delivery up a bit. What's really tempting about all this, I'm just kidding, what's really tempting
Starting point is 00:15:59 is this streetwise barbarian that I have for today. We're gonna do a Inside the cache and there's a stun gun on the end of this thing Look One of the reasons we have dogs is for this exact reason, you know to me Girl you're not even looking out the window anymore You're not even looking out the window anymore. You want to come say hi? Come here, Zella. Come on. Everybody will get a little airtime today.
Starting point is 00:16:30 Come here. You don't need to bring me anything. Come here. Come say hi to the people. If you're going to be loud and rambunctious, you might... Zella! Girl. I guess she's being camera shy. She's a little mutation. Zella girl.
Starting point is 00:16:46 I guess she's being camera shy. She's a little mutation. She's a little pug, French bulldog mix. And she's kind of like the kid from the Croods. You remember the little girl from the crew, the baby, the baby from the Croods? That's what she reminds me of. Let's get into our. I'll tell you about the delivery when we get back. That's what she reminds me of. Let's get into our... I'll tell you about the delivery when we get back.
Starting point is 00:17:14 It's... I've talked about it before a bunch of times, but let's get inside the cache because I got something sweet. I want to show you the Streetwise Barbarian from the home security Superstore, link down below. Check it out. This thing is maybe one of the coolest vehicle weapons you could carry less than lethal devastating all right folks this is a stun weapon the streetwise barbarian it's called it is not the type of weapon that thing The only thing I don't like about is I have a similar one, but it Retracts it does have a cool little belt clip on it. Not that I would walk around with this thing on me, but
Starting point is 00:17:55 and a really cool Feature here the black Templar chain. That's a Warhammer reference. Probably no one will get. But whatever, welcome to my world. It's got like the nice, you know, it's got the beautiful texture for bashing heads or kneecaps, right? And these, you might have seen models like this before, you know, this streetwise barbarian or something like it, you know, it's built off of like the baton or something like it. It's built off of the baton. But this one's got a bunch of cool features.
Starting point is 00:18:31 Switch up. So you see there's a little switch. You got your little switch here. Switch up. You've got your light. And I think there's a few different variants. Let me see. No, I'm wrong.
Starting point is 00:18:44 That's just the light. So you got your light, right? Cool When you click it down, so there's the mid switch. I don't think the mid switch the mid switch is off Come on light. Yeah, the mid switch is off the down switch turns on this red button and Then your little streetwise barbarian is hot. This baby is hot and it has the uh now that I should have done earlier that probably would have shut every dog in the house up huh uh I don't know how many but I know it's loud I know it's terrifying I know if you were in some sort of an altercation and it was a fisticuffs type of altercation or one
Starting point is 00:19:29 of these guys who's pulling out a samurai sword I don't know if you see these lunatics on the road but if you pull one of these out it'll get people it'll get people's attention for sure so this is called the Streetwise Barbarian it's cheap man it's like I think it's like 30 bucks or something like that it's not get people's attention for sure. So this is called the streetwise barbarian. It's cheap, man. It's like, I think it's like 30 bucks or something like that. It's not really expensive at all. Most cars you could find a place to keep it. Um, I have a similar one in my car.
Starting point is 00:19:56 This one I've been keeping close by though, because I won, uh, I've been wanting to show it off again, less than lethal in most cases, depending on how much of your temper you lose control of. Anytime you bludgeon a person, it's not necessarily, I mean, I always laugh when they show those batons and say less than lethal because, you know, it depends. It depends on where and how hard you hit someone. But I dig it, man. I dig it. The home security superstore is packed with stuff like that. And like I always tell you, the big difference and the difference is getting bigger by the day. You can actually afford the things at the home security superstore. That's the difference.
Starting point is 00:20:36 Okay. There's a link down below. It's my personal link. It's an affiliate link. You buy stuff from them with that link. PBN gets the money just in all transparency. All right. I have got other great things from them. This I've showed you before this amazing little tool here might be dead. Nope, it's not dead, but it's loud. Also this amazing little tool right here. Detects wifi, detects wifi powered cameras like the one I'm on right now.
Starting point is 00:21:09 Detects, yeah, those things. If I point it at the, see behind me is the router. So it gets a taste of that router. Why is this important? It can find out if there's wireless microphones, wireless cameras and things like that that are in your home, in a hotel room, in a Verbo, in a Airbnb.
Starting point is 00:21:33 I'm gonna show you how it works. I'm gonna hide this camera, I'm gonna hide Johnny Five and show you exactly how it works. But like I said, I got a doorstop you won't believe. There's a, there's just a lot of cool stuff. They do a lot of cool stuff. Cameras, safes, all kinds of great stuff over there at the home security superstore. If you want to make upgrades to your home security and you want to do it without, you know, like a $2,000 consult and a $3,000 termed, you know, alarm system or whatever the hell I
Starting point is 00:22:07 don't know what people charge check them out use the link in the description because they are they're incredibly affordable a lot of the stuff I mean there's expensive stuff but most of the stuff very affordable very affordable garden girl said she had to get one of those types things for a friend that is getting through a divorce She's not sure if her ex is spying They work man. They work. I tested it out throughout the house I went upstairs and the cool thing about it is there's also varying degrees of sensitivity so like I could I
Starting point is 00:22:41 Could turn the sensitivity up and from upstairs I could find the wi-fi downstairs But if I turned it down, I couldn't you know what I mean? So um No, there's a variety of things you can do with it. That's all We have had uh rec after rec in today's show Dogs deliveries and so forth Uh, but it's been a good one. It's been a good one. Humans as short-form content. I would have loved to get a little more poetic with you on it. I hope you understand the concept. We are to some degree losing
Starting point is 00:23:18 ourselves to the short-form content world and we gotta be careful about that. That is the big question of our generation and generations to come is will we lose what we are to technology? Some people think it's inevitable. Some people think that we'll have the brain chips and the fake eyes and the robotic wives and the AI dogs and that'll be it. And we'll look back and go like there was a thing once known as a human before the cybernetic age, right? And now they're all made in test tubes or whatever or maybe we die out completely with our robot wives. Who knows? What I do know for certain is uh
Starting point is 00:24:01 There's a lot of damn depressed people out there. There's a lot of people out there suffering a wonderful life. Truly fundamentally suffering a magnificent life, a magnificent time to be alive, a magnificent lifestyle. Right? We've never had more options, more choices, more money, more access to opportunity, more love, more... Never. more access to opportunity, more love, more... never. And fundamentally on a whole, the human species is suffering.
Starting point is 00:24:31 Well, it's like Sadguru always says, it's one thing to suffer your failures that your mind can understand, but you can't suffer your success. And many people are suffering their success. Living a great successful life. Look at me, just look at me here, right? You can't suffer your success and many people are suffering their success. Living a great successful life. Look at me.
Starting point is 00:24:48 Just look at me here. Right? I'm trying to do a show, the dogs and the yapping and the bark and the puppy and I got to go get it and I put it, oh my God, it's driving me crazy. Right? And it is an example of that. It is an example of that. So the only way to combat it is to get out of the short form content lifestyle.
Starting point is 00:25:07 It's to slow down. It's to see your home for what it is. My home is strewn with shit. There's so much shit in this room you couldn't believe it. I walk past it all the time, never see any of it. I walk past it all the time, hardly see any of it. But there are things here, man. There are memories tethered to everything.
Starting point is 00:25:29 My mother-in-law gave me this clock. My wife won this hat at a floorball championship. Our great Nate is a picture of Washington crossing the Delaware. What an amazing photo. There's a collection of old school stuff. There's a Pac-Man game. There's just everything riddled. There's a sponsor's bag over here from Lima Tango and amazing people surrounded by a man. This is all of us. We're all surrounded by these amazing
Starting point is 00:25:54 things and it's like, ho hum, what's the next thing I can get and what's the next problem that is going to make me upset so I can bitch about it to my buddies or my girlfriends don't fall for a PBN family life is good right gotta slow down and enjoy it I'll talk to you guys soon okay see ya Thanks for watching!
