Starting point is 00:00:00 We are the Prepper Broadcasting Network. No mice get in it. I had to empty it out. Yeah, I like the looks of it. We're here at the Jones Homestead PBN family getting ready for the second leg of Operation Sal. How are you feeling this morning, Dave? Oh my gosh, if I was any better, the state of Virginia would tax me. No doubt about that.
Starting point is 00:00:28 They love that word. That's Clover right there. Clover, she's very protective. You notice the boy dog isn't barking at all. Yeah, he's well behaved. Oh, look at the chickens. One of them got out again. I didn't know you guys had chickens left.
Starting point is 00:00:41 I thought you killed them all. It's okay, Clover. You're a good girl. You're a good girl. Oh, look at this nice rooster here. Oh, I see it. And it runs off of light instead of timer. Oh.
Starting point is 00:00:59 That's great. You can take them any time at all together. Chip can coop door opener. Yep. So it's just solar. Sun goes down, boom. It runs off battery. But I mean when it shuts.
Starting point is 00:01:12 Yeah. It has an electric eye that detects like 120 lumens to open and then 40 to close. Ah, it's, what is it here? What the hell does it say? It says rabid farms. No, it can't be that. Harris Farms. Harris Farms.
Starting point is 00:01:36 Rabid Farms. Rabid Farms. We put the real stuff out. I see you got some escapees. Yeah, one. I don't know. You got to figure out how she i don't know oh they're so slick mine get out all the time i know girl it's okay it's okay you want me to pet you oh you're just such a good girl oh we got a christmas you're such a good girl clover people that got the puppies oh yeah the puppy is on the christmas card oh they put them
Starting point is 00:02:05 on there already so i'm like well she's not a puppy anymore but i uh i said who is this christmas card from i don't know these people and then i recognized the dog he said that's mine that's one of mine that's a jones pup right there huh that was one of yours right clover that's a Jones pup right there. Huh? That was one of yours, right, Clover? Yeah. That's one of your babies made it on the car, made it in the big time. Oh, she's nice. I never really She is nice, yeah.
Starting point is 00:02:32 Go ahead. Oh, she, she wants some lovin'. Oh, that tail can't go any faster. She says, I smell your dogs. I bet you do.
Starting point is 00:02:44 I hopped right out of bed. I was wearing half these clothes in bed. And just hit the road, girl. Yeah, just hopped out of bed and hit it. She's got a pretty face on her. Oh, yeah. I call her dog face. Dog face.
Starting point is 00:03:00 Look at this guy. He's like, this is bullshit over here. Yeah. I got a toy and everything. This guy don't want to come see me. Yeah, we thought hard about, after this last litter, just selling them both. The dogs? Yeah, to a good home.
Starting point is 00:03:15 But we really don't know how much they keep predators away from the chickens. What are they? Are they golden retrievers? Golden retrievers, yeah. The cutest dogs in the world. I got um i got a couple neighbors that uh you're probably listening to um who they're in love with the goldens but they got two right now and a new baby so they probably wouldn't want another no but we've never had any problems selling the the pups. Trust me, man. But, man, this last one was in July. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:03:46 During those hot days in that barn, we had two fans going. It was... Everybody panting in there. Yeah. Yeah. Mama made it happen, though. Yeah, she did. She was good, Mom.
Starting point is 00:04:00 Yeah, you do need to curl up on a big old bed inside next to a fire. Tell you what, man, if I ever get a mansion, it'll be a trouble. Yeah. I'll have 50 dogs. Dog sanctuary. Seriously. Oh, you'll just take this all day, won't you? Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:04:18 You'll just take this all day. My youngest son will be all up in here with you. Look at that guy right there. He can't shut up. He's a nice looking rooster though, man. Yeah. She went, what is it, 30 miles to go get him. He's a nice looking bird.
Starting point is 00:04:37 Our brood ended up turning up to be no roosters. The whole? Yep. Wow. I know. You can see in my neck of the woods, that's a blessing. Yeah. I get roosters the whole yep wow i know we had my neck of the woods that's a blessing yeah i get roosters it's yeah well it was uh we got 24 of them and the guy said up to half of them could be roosters so we're like okay wait and see yeah not one yeah yeah when i get them like as chicks i'm always like god don't make them be roosters my wife's so scared of them too they go cray they can like sense it hey did you ever see
Starting point is 00:05:16 the duck box i built i don't think so let's go see it yeah you want me to hold that thing i'll come see you too. Don't worry. Uh-oh. Chicken taking off. Chicken hung a right. Let's see the old duck. Oh, I see it. Yeah, I do want to see one of these up close.
Starting point is 00:05:46 I'm on the fence about this. Oh, I like the vents. Okay. I had all this wood. I didn't have the vents. So we got a 4x4 feet PBN family. Framed out. One sheet of plywood did everything, all the sides and the roof. Okay, so the whole makeup of the thing is plywood.
Starting point is 00:06:15 I had this, which is like three quarter. And then I had the treated wood for the frame. And I'm going gonna put some metal roofing on the top here okay have like a little lip because water's coming in and i think oh yeah that makes sense yeah that makes sense and we got two uh floor register or three three floor registers for ventilation the doors on two hinges which is also plywood yeah this is the exact same material just not painted yeah i like this man it looks good too i don't think anything's getting in there and it was pretty easy i mean once i got
Starting point is 00:07:01 the idea in my brain i I rarely draw anything out. Yeah. Did you draw that out or you just wung it? No, I just kind of four by four by four, okay, the ends, the sides. It looks good. It did the job. Well, it did the job. It did, yeah.
Starting point is 00:07:17 How many did you guys have? It was actually up there. You guys had a bunch. We did have a bunch. We actually butchered them over time. Oh, okay. We had a few. It was too crowded.
Starting point is 00:07:31 We butchered a few. And then, again, we let them grow up a little bit more, and then we butchered a few. And then two weekends ago, I think. It was about that when I got the photos. Oh, okay. Yeah It was about that when I got the photos. Oh, okay. Yeah, something like that. And then the neighbors, they had some roosters they wanted to get rid of. Andrew.
Starting point is 00:07:52 Ah, you got some cockle mind. We said, rather than bring all our stuff over there and set it up and show you, just bring your chickens over here. And bring the animals to their demise. So that's what we did. So we did them, did their birds, and then we finished up our ducks. Yeah, they look good. And we got the pigeons.
Starting point is 00:08:16 They're out flying now. Dave Jones got carrier pigeons, SHTF comms, game plan. Squab. Eating all the leftover duck food. That's what we would call them in the industry, squab. How about a fine squab from the R2 subway line in Philly? The old trailer. Yeah, this guy comes in so handy yeah the old trailer i forgot to close leaving
Starting point is 00:08:50 prepper camp we drove about 40 miles with it open nothing fell out it's amazing that was amazing god was holding that door closed for sure yeah so uh we stored our feed in the trailer so i had to empty the feed out we're going to put all the boxes in there each person gets a different box he'll have the names on it receipts we took the pool down that might be the pond next year oh the pond yeah i haven't given up on that maria keeps back and forth hot and cold but i'm do it. You'll have them raccoons around the pond, I'm sure. They'll be looking for some minnow. Had to dispatch a raccoon this morning.
Starting point is 00:09:32 I had him in the live trap. I think I got him last night, and I didn't want him to sit there and suffer. So we took care of him first thing. He's going to make a Davy Crockett hat out of him. Don't give Maria any ideas. Well, I don't know what else to show you. Hey, it's all right. You don't have to be show and tell.
Starting point is 00:09:56 It's no big deal. There's not much to show and tell. That's the boss. All right, PBN family, we're getting back on the road. Second leg of tour. Hopefully next time you hear from me, I'll have a carcass in the truck bed. Talk to you soon.
