Starting point is 00:00:00 you're listening to pbm you're paying back the stability Welcome in everybody, what is up? Hope you guys had a wonderful Christmas This may be the first time you're hearing Merry Christmas from me, so Merry Christmas We got a, uh Well, we can go a number of directions today, but we got a bunch of stuff on the docket Merry Christmas What is up, my man? So I need you guys' input on that intro. That intro sounded loud. And when I make these videos on my graphic software, sometimes the audio comes out super loud.
Starting point is 00:01:17 So today, I made the mistake of looking at general news. I made the mistake of looking at general news. I had a plan to talk to you about access, routine, PBN 2025, what's coming, what we will be doing, how it's going to affect you the whole nine yards. No breakfast yet, my man. No breakfast yet, but let's – I'm going to use your cue. I'm going to use your cue, Joray, to – no, I'm not going to pour the coffee yet, but I'm going to use that cue about breakfast. In the last – see, when you surround yourself with awesome people, what you have to be smart about is capturing the reoccurring themes.
Starting point is 00:02:11 My kids, my wife, my audience, Jor-A, for example, my hosts, even my sibling and my parents. my sibling and my parents. Like this kind of, when you put these people in your life, you wind up getting, you wind up seeing reoccurring patterns. People look at you. They care about you.
Starting point is 00:02:38 They think about you. They think about what you're capable of. These are the people you want around. Most of what happens at PB it's in terms of like big planning stuff it's all about reoccurring themes it's all about reoccurring patterns from you over the last week something like that three different people from three different sort of nets of my life have said, not in this way directly, but have brought to my attention, like, look, I think in 2025, it's time for you to focus on your cooking and chefing background and integrate it into the network better. your cooking and chefing background and integrate it into the network better. The last draw was the Patriot, the Prep and Patriot, a member, long-time member, long-time listener. I wake up this morning and I didn't really look at the phone much yesterday. I put
Starting point is 00:03:39 a quick podcast out for our podcast audience, put out to the hosts a video kind of funny video a uh you know that kind of stuff limited and i wake up and i look in the uh members chat in element and i see the the previn patriot says he wants he's he's he's all in on cooking in 2025 and learning how to cook and to do it really well. And it was number three in sort of that open your eyes, James, everybody's talking about the same thing, you know, that pattern that I see him in that I'd like to have guide the network. You know, I don't have to have 50,000 requests of people saying,
Starting point is 00:04:23 do this, do this, do this. I don't have to have 50,000 requests of people saying, do this, do this, do this. Sometimes it's just that pattern tells me this is what you got to be focused on. It's one of many things. It's not going to be an easy year here at PBN 2025, and I never – I can't have an easy year. You understand? Depressing the French press. The worst thing in the world would be an easy year for me.
Starting point is 00:04:54 So, of all the things that we're going to attempt, the SHTF chef is going to be front and center in 2025 in terms of probably daily content on PBN News again, like when i first started this is coffee number two this light doesn't do my disaster coffee mug very much justice does it i'm showing off the disaster coffee mug with our beautiful logo the incredible parachuting coffee mug two elements that are just so simple and fit the brand so perfect. So what does that mean? I think what we have to do is we have
Starting point is 00:05:35 to work our way through the basics. I think we should work our way through the basics in terms of classic cooking, classic cookery, starting with something as simple as knife skills. I'd like to do a lot of ingredient identification and how to use them. You know, knife skills is huge if you want to be a good cook. Knife skills are huge. If you want to be a good cook, nice skills are huge. Um, I, in how to use ingredients, huge, how and where and when, you know, most of the time, one thing I realized is that most people use recipes to cook. They don't use ingredient, uh, knowledge. You know what I mean? So they don't, they don't go, they don't go like, man, look at that nice, fresh sage.
Starting point is 00:06:25 What are all the things I could do with that? They go, I got chicken breast. I could put poultry seasoning on it. That has sage in it, it says in the recipe, so I need sage. And to really enjoy cooking, it's all about ingredients. It really becomes all about it. So knife skills skills sauce preparation i'm going off of how i learned ingredient uh identification and use and then probably cooking methods cooking methods is huge it's another huge thing that you rarely
Starting point is 00:07:00 ever see on cooking shows and hardly even see in cooking uh cook in cookbooks really but this is another sort of ingredient identification thing it's look at it look at a piece of meat and know what can i do with that when i break down a whole pig when i break that pig down i look at that pig and i see things and I see cooking methods. Right. I see the butt and I say, well, you ain't throwing that on the grill. Five minutes per side. You know what I mean? That's that's a slow and low cooked item. That's an item that takes time. That takes a braise. That takes a smoke. That takes, you know, long and slow.
Starting point is 00:07:45 And then you see something like a pork loin and you say, okay, this is easier. This is a muscle that gets less use. This is a muscle that is more tender, easier to cook. It's a quicker cook, right? So all these things I'd like for you guys to sort of walk away with in 2025. Even if you don't wind up cooking. I think everybody should. 2025, even if you don't wind up cooking, I think everybody should.
Starting point is 00:08:13 I really do think like not just from your health, but from like fulfillment of life kind of thing. Like you have to eat three times a day, at least. Maybe some eat two times a day. For the most part, you eat three times a day. You should be intimately involved in it. You know what I i mean you should be able to be like you should get excited you should be like it's breakfast man like like i don't know what i'm i don't know jorate what i'm gonna have yet for breakfast but jorate does say food preservation we can get into that we can get into that um that's a good one for sure that's a good one uh so you know we got a we got a lot on the docket in 2025
Starting point is 00:08:52 we could also talk about well i do want to get into routines the routine thing we kicked off last year, we're going to carry on into it. I never felt better. The biggest takeaway for me for routines. And what are the routines? They're just what they are. They're daily stuff. Like January will kick off. You'll have a January routine. Everybody gets it. Some routines are for members only. Some routines are for everybody. You can get it on the mailing list, members only. Some routines are for everybody. You can get it on the mailing list, social media, all that kind of stuff. Go to pbnfamily.com, sign up for the newsletter. It's free.
Starting point is 00:09:34 You get a free book. You just sign up. Don't be silly, right? Every day you got stuff to do. This is vital to your year there is no better time than the 26th of december to talk about next year and how that year is going to go and you can wish upon a star and you can do the whole uh what is it called i never do them when you make a when you make a profound statement at the end of the year and and pretend like you're going to stick to it, a resolution, you can do the whole resolution thing if you want and pretend that you're going to stick to that for 365 days.
Starting point is 00:10:14 But what was born out of the resolution? See, we did the kettlebells in Christ last December. That was a fitness routine. And then what was born out of the resolution idea, because I know how stupid and silly they are, right, and how so few people ever achieve it, was this concept of you are what you do every day. But keep yourself on track. Make sure you're getting better. Establish a position. Improve upon it daily. And also measure your opponents and measure the people in your life. Opponents to understand who they really are.
Starting point is 00:11:02 People in your life to understand if they're doing what they should be doing with their life. Everything, to me, works back to you are what you do every day. Right. So in other words, sit down and look at it. And what I love about you are what you do every day is there's no lying. It immediately removes your ability to lie to yourself. You know, so in other words, you could say, like, I'm a really great marksman. And you could say, okay, you are what you do every day.
Starting point is 00:11:35 How regularly do you marksman? How often are you shooting? You know what I mean? It really comes down to that. It's that simple. You know, I'm in really good shape. Okay. Well, how often are you working out? The other beautiful thing about you are what you do every day. were at one time amazing. You know what I mean? People who were at one time, at one point in their life achieved something and they kind of hung on to it too long. You know what I mean? Like they hung on to that achievement for too long and then life kept coming and they changed what they did every day. They weren't doing what they did every day that way when they were achieving that.
Starting point is 00:12:25 And then they became something different. But in head it was like i'm still this thing and that's a rude awakening right it's a rude awakening when you realize like i thought i was 20 year old 20 year ago me but i'm just this version of me now and it's not what i want to be happens to like guys my age all the time. You know what I mean? They're like, I was an amazing athlete in high school. I'm an amazing athlete because I was an amazing athlete in high school. And then they go play a game and rip the hamstring off the bone because their body's not at all used to what they thought they were used to.
Starting point is 00:13:06 The routines were born out of this. The other thing about it you have to understand is it's amazingly empowering. It is probably the most empowering thing you can do at the beginning of a new year is wrap your head around the idea that you are what you do every day, because that means yesterday and for 2024, that was you you write out your little routine your little day-to-day stuff that you want to achieve and immediately you're on the path to becoming new different something something exceptional and all it takes is check the boxes on the list i want to get in shape to work out today i want to eat better you know write down three meals did you eat the three meals what were they i want to get in shape. Did you work out today? I want to eat better. You know, write down three meals.
Starting point is 00:13:45 Did you eat the three meals? What were they? I want to be a better, one of the big things for me that really, sorry, we have six dogs in our house right now. Okay. There is nothing working in the sinus cavity. What's up? Blood's coming out of it. Snot's coming out of it.
Starting point is 00:14:02 It's all, it's probably not the dogs, probably just the season. But I never had a better relationship with my concealed carry weapon than what has happened over the last year. And to be honest, the routines fell off a little bit. I haven't done dry fire and and training as much in the latter part of this year and i have noticed a difference in comparison to like april june ish end of summer last year like just a whole different kind of relationship with the concealed carry gun because it was part of the routine we were doing concealed carry dry fire and stuff
Starting point is 00:14:50 all every every day per the routines gotta do it join us join us for the for the I'm telling you, it'll change your whole situation. Oh, that was the part about access that I wanted to touch on. One of the reasons that the way that you make the routine successful is by mastering the concept of access. This is how you get good at stuff. This is how you get good at stuff. This is how you get good at almost anything, right? Like, in my experience anyway, I find that you've got to make it as easy to do as you can make it. In other words, this is why people fail at the gym.
Starting point is 00:15:49 They fail at the gym because the gym is 45 minutes away. They fail at the gym because they don't go to the gym first. They don't go to the gym immediately after work. They say, I'm going to go home. I got to take care of something. Then I'll leave and go to the gym. Very hard to do. Right? leave and go to the gym very hard to do right if the gym is there when you walk through the front
Starting point is 00:16:07 door i.e kettlebell i got a giant kettlebell right here i'm a little tweaked right here or i'd show you the beautiful bigfoot kettlebell um but it'll be real funny looking for me to get it up here, especially not warmed up or anything. But anyhow, you got to have access. You got to have access. You got to be able to slide right into whatever it is you want to get good at. That's why the dry fire was so important. The dry fire practice is so important. Either your gun's on you or it's not.
Starting point is 00:16:42 But if it's not on you, you can put it on. It should be on you or it's not but if it's not on you you could put it on it should be on you anyway so when you're doing dry fire all you're doing is boom magazine out you know remove the round to make sure the gun's safe and then you either have an empty mag or empty your mag and and you could do all kinds of stuff access for the gun range for me, this is why my relationship changed with my gun so much. Access for the gun range for me is 20-minute drive, $200, whatever amount of time I got to set aside, at least an hour, probably two hours. those are extreme barriers when it comes to access for a person like me, you know? So those barriers get in the way as opposed to saying, you know what?
Starting point is 00:17:35 I think I'll, I think I'll pull a gun out and do a little dry fire training and so much familiarity. So, you know, so it's whatever it is you want to get good at. You want to get good at shooting a bow and arrow? Well, if you're going to get good at shooting a bow and arrow, then you need a stack of hay bales out back. Right. You need a stack of hay bales right out back. You need targets and arrows. And then that way you can go grab bow. If you're using a recurve or something you need what you also need is if you if you want to shoot traditional bow then you need to get good at putting the string on quickly and i don't remember it's been a long time since i was in the traditional bow buying phase
Starting point is 00:18:17 but i have a string that bends the bow limbs to easily put the actual bow string on. The bow string is never really off the bow, but it has to be tightened, right? You can't leave it tightened all the time, Rick. The bow can get ruined. So you take the string off your bow, but you use this other thing that touches on both ends of the bow, both limbs, and bends it so that the string comes off or goes on. All this is access access so you got to get good at that you got to have the right tools to do that quick so that you could say all right i'm gonna go shoot the bow it's gonna take me a minute to set up i'm gonna walk out back 20 paces you know what i mean and then i'm gonna shoot arrows at this hay bale. And you're going to get better at it.
Starting point is 00:19:05 And you're going to keep getting better at it until you're so good at it that the next time you see a deer, you're going to go, oh, yeah, I could. Now I know I could slip an arrow right where I need to slip it. You know what I mean? So we can't do everything at PBN, but one of the things we can do is kind of get your focus on I am what I do every day. And that might be too real for some people. I don't know. I can't really figure it. I can't figure everything out for everybody.
Starting point is 00:19:44 I found out a long time ago I can't make people do things, even if it's the best thing you could do. I can't make you do it. Even if I know the thing that you should do, and I'm good at that, particularly with people. I get that from my parents and my mother particularly. You can't make people do anything, really, you can't make people do anything, really, at the end of the day. Do we want to get into news? I do want you to go to YouTube and follow my buddy L2Survive, okay? L2Survive over at YouTube.
Starting point is 00:20:18 Let's talk weakest link real quick. You want to talk weakest link? Another big thing we're going to be introducing in 2025 is not not our own brand of lighters but uh we're going to do some legitimate video commercials on pbn and i've got it i've got a way to make them very interesting for you i think you're going to dig it so i'm going to blow my screen up right now for those of you listening to the podcast we are going to go over something called the mk i'm assuming it's a butane lighter let me see if i can get this thing to not zoom on me manipulation you see that mk
Starting point is 00:20:58 now there was a time when in my life where like i only really started fires with matches and ferrocerium rods right and that was the proving phase that was the routine phase that was make sure i have this skill and i can do it probably about a year ago i started using lighters to make fire again because I know I'm there. And what I found is that – oh, Alexu in chat. What's up, man? I have a band that helps. I think you mean – do you mean a fitness band or do you mean a band that helps like a rock and roll type band? Anyhow, sorry I missed your comment.
Starting point is 00:21:49 I started using lighters again. We started playing with Zippos. We started playing with butane lighters and stuff like that. And what really came to mind, what really kind of opened my eyes? Oh, you got a band for the bow. Okay, I got you. What really kind of opened my eyes is the importance of easy flame in your household. So in other words, I spent a lot of years getting preparedness under wraps for me so that I could be effective.
Starting point is 00:22:17 Took a long time. Takes a long time. I had no skills coming into this. You got to understand. a long time i had no skills coming into this you got to understand so alexu in chat says there's a band out there that you can buy also for your bow i use an old string with some leather straps on the ends or leather cups that go on the limb there's a lot of different things but thank you for that alexu it's good to know as we got into playing with fire and lighting fire and I started teaching my eight year, nine year old. Not necessarily teaching, but having him start the fires, teaching and having, I guess he already kind of knew the fire fundamentals, but having him start the fires in the house and stuff that goes to go light the fire. I realized that cheap and easy flame is is where it's at i mean if we're really talking about survival if we're talking about skills that make people go oh look what he can do then you can do the ferro rods you can do the flint and steels you can do all that stuff and
Starting point is 00:23:19 you should do all that stuff but when you get to the point where you're thinking like in a real, in a real disaster, in a real problem, if we have a real problem, right. Then, then we want cheap and easy flame. And that's what this guy represents. Okay. Again, I don't, I don't know exactly if the brand is exceptional or not, but what I can tell you about it is it's a cheap and easy flame. The click is not bad. You get that butane fire. And if you have someone younger than you,
Starting point is 00:23:55 someone who is not very comfortable with fire, doesn't want to get close to fire, right, doesn't want to deal with fire very much, but you can show them how to build a fire. See, we take our Bigfoot fur cups and we build a fire around that cup. I know you might not know what that is. If you're a long time listener, you know what it is. But basically what I have for the podcast audience is a butane lighter with a nice big gray handle and a nice long barrel, if you will. And it's a one-click, right?
Starting point is 00:24:30 So it's a one-click lighter. Boom. You get your butane heat. You hand this to whoever needs to start the fire. And guess what? They can start a fire. You understand? So in other words, it's not like, dude, do you know how to use a Fresnel lens or a Fresnel?
Starting point is 00:24:44 How do you even say that word? Fresnel how to use a fresnel lens or a frenal friend how do you even say that word frenal frenal frenal lens or whatever do you know how to take this obscure collection of ingredients and make a fire that will make people go ooh and ah doesn't matter when you need fire right you need fire you want something like this hand it off they click a button they have fire they put the fire on the fiery things that need to get fired up your tinder bundles whatever and boom they can be effective and so on all right so i want to show you guys more things i want to show you guys things that work and make sense that's one of my goals with the video you know but this is a new purchase it's a like i said it's a new kind of a new way of thinking around here which is less make data
Starting point is 00:25:32 cool survivalist and more make everybody strong right it's weakest link thinking it's looking at people who in my household or in my group that are going to struggle with this thing. If they're going to struggle with this thing, then I don't necessarily need the coolest gadget out there that everybody has. I need to look at them and say, they're going to struggle with this, so let me get the thing that makes this easiest. We could go down the path of banging rocks together and bow drilling and all that another time. We need fire. And then that becomes the goal, right? I was going to bitch and moan about Joe Biden. I don't want to get into any of it. I think I want to call it, to be honest with you. Thank you for joining me, guys. I do appreciate it. Visit pbnfamily.com down in the show description we have a
Starting point is 00:26:26 link to pack fresh usa we're doing a big giveaway if you use that link to purchase from pack fresh usa i'll look at the names that use the link i'm going to choose a name at random and you're going to wind up getting some awesome prizes from me and from Pack Fresh USA. Okay. Cool survival stuff, books, handmade products. And then of course a giant bunch of Mylar bags and oxygen absorbers and all that kind of stuff. All right. So enjoy the rest of your day, folks.
