top quality. Coffee today. Disastercoffee.com. I want to talk about the dirt cheap lighting
solution that I happened upon years ago by accident. Come to think of it, I can't even,
oh, you know, it was to light the railing. Yeah, it was to light the railing in my
stairwell.
I know a lot of people use the push button lights, you know, the little circular light that you stick to the wall and you push the button when you walk by or maybe it's motion activated.
I was particularly interested in running a strand of LED lights up the railing, the wooden railing in my home and lighting that hallway when the power went out.
Because it's dark.
You know, we have a dark, enclosed stairwell.
so I buy these little lights they're available on Amazon they are a LED strip I think it's about 12 feet 10 feet maybe 9 feet I'm not sure you probably get them in any size you want if you really look but what's important about this little strip of LED LED lights is that they're battery powered and they have an on and off button okay battery powered on off button you do have to apply some adhesive
like double-sided adhesive foam to the box, the battery box, and the on switch itself, okay?
The LED lights themselves have adhesive already built into them.
We started to lay those strips on the railing, and I realized, wow, this is impressive.
This is, and by the way, these LED strips, they cost about $12.
Maybe about $14 now, something like that.
They're amazing.
I'll link to them in the description.
From the railing, I realized that these lights could also be concealed.
They could be concealed and stuck behind your televisions, your flat screen TVs.
So you can run it in a rectangular shape behind the television.
Use the adhesive to stick the on-off switch to your wall.
Now when the lights go out
You turn this thing on it brightens
The whole room up almost
It's like a big light that shoots up and out and down
From your television
From behind your television
It does an amazing job at brightening things up
Then we started putting them
On the sinks
Across the sinks
And down the sinks
We have the square-style sinks
You can put them around the sink mirrors
But they can seal pretty well
If you put them across sort of the back
of the sink. Then we put them in the pantry. We put them around the inside of the doorframe
of the pantry, right? So above, well, on the top, actually, of the doorframe and around on the
inside of the pantry. So you never see them unless you look. You can't see them. You would never
see them in a million years unless you were looking for them. But when the lights go out, or even
if you just need more light in your pantry, you go in, you hit the button box, the battery
box with the button on off boom and you've got this powerful beam of LED light that uh yeah i mean
they could be used anywhere just to add light but to me they are the cheapest and most effective
method for for emergency lighting you know immediate emergency lighting like we used to run for the
blackout box and we still have the blackout box and with all our flashlights and lighters
and things like that in it back up power um
But this is a game changer.
This has changed the game for us in Power Outge because now you're just walking up to one of these locations behind the TV.
Click, the lights are on, right?
You got to go to the bathroom.
Don't worry about taking a flashlight to the bathroom or a headlamp.
You don't need to.
Right?
You walk into the bathroom.
You go to where the box is, boom, click.
And it's two AA batteries or something like that.
It might be three AAA, actually.
And you're in business, right?
Hit the button, you're in business.
give them a try like i said i'll link to the ones that i use down below or something as similar as i can
find and uh this is this is the most effective and most affordable emergency light set up you're
going to find okay as long as you got batteries you got rechargeable batteries and maybe a solar
generator something along those lines now you really got emergency lighting for a long time all right
