Starting point is 00:00:00 you're listening to pbn your path back to stability Man, I really stopped and listened to that intro this morning. Wow, that thing hits. That's nice. Your path back to stability. When you do this every single day, you know what I it feels like uh you're at sometimes it feels like i'm watching pbn rather than you know being pbn you know i'm saying like i hear these sound bites
Starting point is 00:00:53 all the time and yeah it's that one hit though welcome the commander's on the couch the commander is on the couch i'm coming to you live from the typical broadcast setup, which should not be the case at 9.54 on the Thursday before prepper camp. I should be somewhere on I-95 south, closing in on I-85. I spent 48 hours monitoring the hurricane, 48 hours monitoring intelligence coming out of the area. And when I say monitoring intelligence, I'm going to talk to you a little bit about that. Because the way I do information is everybody. You know what I mean? The way that I do information is I get it from everyone. That's the way I do information is everybody. You know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:01:45 The way that I do information is I get it from everyone. That's the way I do it. I make sure that I'm not stuck on one thing. These are the good guys. Those are the bad guys. Actually, when I'm gathering information, I almost don't even care. I am a quantity over quality person when it comes to big decisions and gathering intel. That's just how my mind works. I want to be inundated. I want to be inundated
Starting point is 00:02:15 with information because I have an ability, I guess, or something like that. If I dump it in there, what's important will get hung up in the it in there, what's important will get hung up in the net, right? What's important will get hung up in the net. And basically, by noon yesterday, I had a pretty good feeling that I wasn't going to go to Saluda, North Carolina. Just based on what I was seeing. just based on what I was seeing. Around 1, 2-ish, my wife alerted me to the fact that her offices in Atlanta and offices in the area were closing and that a state of emergency had been declared for Western North Carolina.
Starting point is 00:03:08 I was watching rain totals. I was not excited about the amount of the sheer volume of rain that— And listen, I don't want to go over things and scare people. Suffice it to say, to me, it seemed dangerous. There were things that could happen to me, my vehicle, and so on. On the way there, while there, on the way home. And it all equated to me saying, see you in 2025. Oh, it stings.
Starting point is 00:03:48 Don't get me wrong. It's a stinger. Because the majority of the hosts who are planning on going are there. Or are en route right now. So, they're going to endure. There's no doubt about that. But it'll probably be great stories. They'll probably have a good time.
Starting point is 00:04:07 I hope, you know, that's my hope because now a very big part of my heart is still in Saluda anyway. You know what I mean? So even though I decided against it, it doesn't mean that a lot of people that I care about aren't going to have to deal with whatever the hell rolls through there. So it's going to be a very weird year, man. A very weird year for me. I haven't missed Prepper Camp since 2019. And, you know, we talk about it like we talk about it. And understand that it wasn't an easy decision to make.
Starting point is 00:04:42 I consulted many people who were close to me. I consulted many of the hosts. I consulted family members. I even called the campground manager at Orchard Lake. And just, you know, just as a phone call, an informational phone call, and got information from them. Like I said, I dump it all into this crazy brain of mine, turn on the blender, and that's
Starting point is 00:05:12 how I decide these things. So I pulled a lot of intel from a lot of different places, and it just seemed like the best decision for me was to wait until 2025. decision for me was to wait till 2025. And that's all I want to say about it because look, it's a really weird, it's a really weird position to be in because undoubtedly you're letting people down, which always sucks. Um, but on top of that, you don't want to shade another person's decision too much. And on top of that, if things do go terrible, like if something terrible happens, then you're going to have the regret of maybe I should have been more forthright. Right? So it's all up in the air till Friday afternoon, basically.
Starting point is 00:06:06 For those of you who haven't got the email or or didn't hear the communication from Rick, Prepper Camp is a go still, but they are going to be opening later. OK, actually, let me give you the details on that so you know exactly what the deal is, because I know that's just an email. exactly what the deal is because I know that's just an email and a lot of people uh a lot of people might not have gotten the email or even looked at the email might be traveling so severe winds from the hurricane will be coming through tonight starting 3 a.m Friday through noon on Friday uh the wind will be manageable to set up after 1 p.m., so they're not having vendors or anything set up until 1 p.m. tomorrow when the winds die down. Saturday and Sunday will be nice weather.
Starting point is 00:06:58 Two excellent days where you can sell merchandise. He's talking to vendors here. But, yeah, weather delays for for prepper camp um i'm going to advise against anyone setting up anything until afternoon friday so you arrive there today if you're a vendor speaker uh you know, hopefully you wait it out. You know what I mean? Let me see if I have the other. The other email was directed at the camp goers.
Starting point is 00:07:32 Okay, here you go. Prepper Camp is still on. Where's the delayed opening part? We are here. If you're concerned about traveling through the storm, you may want to come Saturday, Sunday. Yeah, so, I mean, I think that's kind of what we're looking at. Later Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
Starting point is 00:07:54 Let me see what the Instagram said. I don't want to give you guys bad information on this. Like I said, the delayed stuff, I was kind of like, eh, because I was already kind of out. Come on, eh. Hold on, let me look it up. Preppercamp. Those with concerns about the status of Preppercamp 2012-20 assure you that we are here and setting up.
Starting point is 00:08:21 There will be rain, but the wind will not get strong until late Thursday, Friday morning. By Friday afternoon, the storm will have passed. Saturday, Sunday will be a little rain, sunny. See you at Prepper Camp 2024. Okay. That's the latest, okay? I've given you the latest. That's the latest. What I do have planned, you know, I don't stop. You know what I mean? Like, I have fantasies that, oh, well, since I'm not at Prepper Camp, maybe I should enjoy myself for a couple days. I don't stop. a long and lonely ride. Seven hours is a long and lonely ride. I don't care who you are. I decided to message Dave Jones and I said, you know, I think this is the weekend since I'm not supposed to be here anyway that I'm going to get the quail. Why don't we do a telephone call in quail Q&A between myself and Dave Jones and then we'll post it. quail Q&A between myself and Dave Jones, and then we'll post it. So I'm going to walk through all my questions and concerns and so on and talk to Dave Jones about them before I pull the trigger
Starting point is 00:09:32 and get this meat source and egg source. And then we'll go from there. And we'll probably get incredible information from, well, I know we'll get incredible information from Dave Jones. get incredible information from well i know we'll get incredible information from dave jones and that'll be that you know that'll be that you know he he might regret it i don't know i'm not i don't think he does regret it um but dave jones is it advice like when i tell you guys dave jones prepping advice changed the way I look at prepping. I mean it. It is on repeat when chaos comes. And it really was one of Dave Jones's adages that hammered the final nail in on PrepperCam for me, and it was too many firsts. You know what I mean? It was a too many firsts kind of situation. i kept looking at my
Starting point is 00:10:26 travel plans looking at the day looking at the rain looking at what people were saying and i just we had a situation that was far too many firsts for me you know so is what it is folks i'm gonna keep it short this is not necessarily pbn daily. I'm going to keep it short. This is not necessarily a PBN Daily News. I'm not doing a PBN Daily News today. I'm doing what I just did. I'm letting you know that the intrepid commander is on the couch. There are much bolder men and women out there at Prepper Camp right now. there at prepper camp right now and what i hope what my hope is and what my prayer was last night was that we can be laughed at in 2025 right is that 2024 can go down in history as the year the
Starting point is 00:11:18 intrepid commander wimped out of prepper camp and we all uh got a bunch of laughs uh off of them that's the best possible outcome for me right now you know what i mean something radical happens storm shifts gets knocked off course everybody has a great prepper camp i show up next year they put a dunce cap on me, I make coffee and kiss their feet for the rest of the year in 2025. No, I'll have a great time, and I think they'll have a great time too, I hope. You know, I hope and pray. God, cover our hosts with your grace, please. Protect them out there. Because if the weathermen are right it's gonna get wild pbn family i really do apologize especially to all of you out there listeners
Starting point is 00:12:13 who may be making the journey or have made the journey and i won't get to see you i know the hatter was planning on going out there i'd love to talk to him there's tons of people i see every year that i love to talk to i don't's tons of people I see every year that I love to talk to. I don't know if they're going, you know, whatever the situation may be. Uh, if you had something planned or, you know, whatever the situation is, I do apologize. And, um, yeah, man, I hope, uh, I hope 2025 is a better year. You know, that's about all I can do.
