music Well, hello and welcome to another episode of the Strange Truth. Your host Carl B and I just hope that everyone's having a pretty good week. We got some wild stories to cover here today. And I'm gonna try and keep this light today. I was just looking at, you know, just looking around the web at some of the incredible like crazy stories that have been breaking all over the place.

And you know, it's just insane. It's like the world has gone insane. That's the best way to put it. You know, everything is, it's like we're living in the upside down, right? Where everything is tops the turvy. You know, we are living pretty much an Orwellian dystopian, you know, nightmare right now. Although a lot of people don't really realize the depth and the gravity of it yet. But I think that in the coming years, that it will become more and more apparent. I've talked about it on this show before.

If you're living in Europe, it's crazy what's happening there in terms of civil liberties and everything else. And how basically one party, they're living in pretty much a one party state, although they wouldn't want to call it that. Like in a lot of places in Europe, it's only the progressives, the leftists in Europe that are in power right now because they have outlawed everything else that, you know, and they've made everything else that's not like them, prize, right? So it's just insane. But I think that when you really look at it, you

know, and if you have a Christian worldview on the whole situation, then a lot of these things just have to come to pass. This is all, you know, this is all, you know, setting it up, right, for, you know, the horrors that are going to be coming. When you look at everything here in the United States, everything in Europe, it's just making it so much easier for what if it could really go wrong? The best things always start with,

well, the so-called best things, right? Everything starts with the best things always start with, well, you know, well, the so-called best things, right? Everything starts with the best intentions and then end up just going seriously bad, right? That's what happened, you know, like when you read, you know, Orwell was a master of this, right? When you read, like, you know, Animal Farm, right? And you read 1984, it just goes to show that a lot of things start with the best intentions, and then they just devolve into tyranny. And I think that's what we're seeing. And then every idea is tyranny that's not mine, is what they're saying in Europe. So you have the people to the left, they're saying, well, in Europe. So you have the people to the left, they're saying, well, I don't think this way,

so the other people must be tyrants. We have to have it this way. So they set up all these things, and then you realize that it always starts with the best intentions, but then it goes south pretty quickly. Here in New York State, I didn't even realize that we had this bill here in New York State, I didn't realize that we had this bill here

in New York State that they were thinking about assisted suicide here, making it legal here in New York State. And this is just something that flew completely on the radar for me anyway, right? I mean, and I read the news quite a lot. So the fact that this almost got by me is interesting. But it's just like we're just gravitating towards more and more death. And I know that folks on the other side of the political spectrum don't see it this way. But everything is just death. Like, you know, every decision just seems to create more social chaos and just more death. You know, I'm sure they're saying, well, if you're suffering, right, and you're at the end of your life, you should be able

to die in dignity. That's the way they always phrase it. But I'm sure that pretty soon, right, just like everything else is going to be abused, the people who just want out, right, or the people they people don't want around anymore, right, that's the way it always starts. And folks hearing this will say, well, that's a bit of paranoia, right? But isn't that just the way it

starts all the time? You know, something that's supposed to be in the public's interest, right? The public good. And then it just devolves into, you know, just tyranny, right? Tyranny and a way, expedient way of getting rid of an unwanted segment of society. You know, and so it gives me pause. A lot of this gives me pause. I don't like it. Anything that results in death, I don't like. Right, some people just have an easier time accepting that, right?

But anything that results in death, I, you know, I know enough of world history to understand that, you know, yeah, that's how things work usually. And it, you know, that brings in a tyranny. So we'll see how this goes. I keep you guys abreast on that because if they're doing it here in New York state, then they must be doing it in your neck of the woods too.

And I know it always starts as I said before, and you're tired of hearing it starts with the best intentions, but it usually ends up going very, very wrong, right? Very wrong. Anyway, what's on the agenda? I know that your time is valuable. Right? So we're going to talk a little bit about, you know, the tariffs and how they're going to affect certain things here in the United States. So you want to

There is also an article about why Gen Xers are terrified of a recession and some of the things that they're doing to try to either prepare for it, plan for it, or some of the interesting therapy that some of them are, the lengths that they go to, right, to self-soothe and to deal with their problems. We're gonna talk about that. We're gonna talk about what's going on on Mars, right, to self-soothe, you know, and to deal with their problems. You know, we're going to talk about that. Lots to go through here, but let's talk about tariffs and potential shortages, right? Sure, everybody wanna hear a little bit about this. I'm gonna read an article from themostimportantnews.com. This one's written by Michael Snyder, of course. And he has some really good insights here into some of the issues that might occur, that

are occurring right now with all the tariffs and the shortages. Something I'm sure the Prepper community and the preparedness community is keeping an eye on. So let's just dive right into this one. And it says here, we're about to find out what happens when thousands of very popular products are suddenly no longer available for sale. A lot of Amazon shoppers have been left shocked to learn that some of their favorite products

have already disappeared. In fact, their entire stores on Amazon that are now completely gone. Of course, it isn't just Amazon that is facing an unprecedented crisis. Walmart, Target, Home Depot, and our largest dollar store chains are all going to have to figure out new ways to fill their shelves in the months ahead. Those that wish to export products to the United States will soon have to pay enormous

port fees on top of the tariffs that have already been announced. For certain products coming from China, that will mean paying poor fees on top of tariffs of up to 245%. Some companies will still attempt to sell Chinese-made products in the United States, but they will be forced to hike their prices extremely high. But many other cases, companies will decide that it is no longer makes economic sense to sell those products in the United States. This will increase demand for similar goods that are produced right here in the United States.

Of course there are a lot of instances where there are no similar goods made in the United States and even if all our factories were running at full capacity, there is just no way we could hope to replace the tsunami of products that is normally imported from China. Yes, we can build new factories, but that will take years. It also comes with a lot of risk. Less than four years from now, a new administration could come in and totally reverse the current trade policy. If Chinese goods started pouring back

into a country at that point, that would happen, what would happen to those that invested giant mountains of money in new US factories? I don't think that we will see a huge wave of factory construction, because the risk of being wiped out when a new administration comes in is just too great. I haven't heard anyone else talk about this. Businesses do not like to make huge investments unless there is certainty about the outcome.

While US CEOs debate about what to do, our stores will not be able to fill their shelves with things that are made in the United States. We simply are not able to produce enough stuff. So if other nations stop sending us the things that we need, there will be shortages. Last week we learned that Chinese-built and Chinese-owned trade vessels will soon be hit with massive new port fees every time they make a voyage to the United States. The Federal Register notice posted by the US Trade Representative USTR on Thursday said the US government will charge fees on all Chinese-built and owned ships docking in US ports based on net tonnage or goods carried on each

voyage. The new fees will be enforced in around 180 days' time, rolled out in a phased manner and may be raised in coming years, according to the USTR notice. The latest announcement backtracks from proposals floated in February to charge China-built ships of up to $1.5 million per port call, which had prompted a widespread industry backlash routers reported. So in addition to facing tariffs of up to 245%, a Chinese container ship that is carrying Chinese products across the Pacific could be hit with a port fee of up to $1.5 million when it arrives.

This is going to absolutely kill trade with China. Once those port fees go into effect, I don't know why anyone would still want to ship products from China to the United States. Of course, these new port fees will have a tremendous chilling effect on trade with everyone else too because Chinese-made vessels will soon represent 98% of the trade ships on the world's oceans. Many warn the government in letters and in testimony that the US was in no position to win an economic war that placed ocean carriers using Chinese-made vessels in the middle.

Soon, Chinese-made vessels will represent 98% of the trade ships on the world oceans. The good news, if you wanted to call it that, is that Chinese-built ships that are coming to the US from nations other than China will be facing significantly lower port fees. From October 14th, Chinese owned and operated ships will be charged $50 a net ton, a rate that will increase by $30 a year over the next three years. Chinese built ships owned by non-Chinese firms will be charged $18 a net ton with annual fee increases of $5 over the same period. But even at a lower level, these poor fees are still going to really sting. So what is the bottom line?

The bottom line is that if you want to buy a foreign-made product, you should get it now while you still can. This is particularly true for anything made in China. Already we're witnessing a stunning increase in canceled sailings by freight ships out of China. US importers are being notified of an increase in canceled sailings by freight ships out of China as ocean carriers try to balance the pullback in orders resulting from President Trump's tariffs and the escalation of tensions in the trade war. A total of 80 blank or cancelled sailings out of China have been recorded by freight

company HLS Group. It wrote in a recent note to clients that with the trade war between China and the US leading to a demand plummet carriers have been have started to suspend or adjust Trans Pacific services. We have never seen anything like this before. As trade across the Pacific dries up, it is going to have a tremendous economic impact up and down our supply chains. The impact of the diminished freight container traffic to North America will be significant

for many links in the economy and supply chain, including the ports and logistics companies moving the freight if each sailing was carrying 8,000 to 10,000 TEUs, 20 foot equivalent units that would equal a decline in freight traffic of between 640,000 to 800,000 containers and lead to decreased crane operations at the ports, lower fees that could be collected, and declines in container pickups and transports by trucks, rails, to warehouses for storage. It isn't going to take long for us to start experiencing a lot of pain. According to a report that was posted by Zero Hedge on Saturday, there are some cases where Chinese exporters have opted to surrender

their cargo to the shipping companies mid-voyage rather than deal with the new tariffs. The South China Morning Post, a Hong Kong-based English language outlet, reported on April 10th that some Chinese exporters have opted to surrender their cargo to the shipping companies mid voyage rather than deal with the new tariffs. One, no one will buy them after the tariffs are imposed. The publication quoted one client as saying to a Chinese exporter. Mainland Chinese outlets, Sizing, reported that the port of Shanghai normally bustling with ships was virtually empty on the day after the US, the United States imposed its 145% tariff.

The outlet expects US, China shipping to fall by half in the near future. I have never seen this happen before. We are talking about Chinese-made goods that are literally on the way that were literally on the way to this country. Needless to say those exporters won't be sending anything else or away for the foreseeable future. If there are products that you depend on that normally come from China you should stock up now. There will be shortages. Of course, not everything will be in short supply. For many things, we can definitely produce the quantities we need, even if China imports went to zero. But in other cases, there will be supply

crunches that will surpass anything we have witnessed during the pandemic. Those that were hoping for a hard reset with China certainly got their wish. Now the fun begins. So word to the wise, you know, if there's some that you've been waiting to buy and you actually have the money to buy it instead of waiting on it, just get it now. Just get it now. Put it aside. Right. If there is anything that you wanted to get from Amazon or or you were waiting to buy, right. Just just get it now. Just get it now. Put it aside. Right. If there's anything that you wanted to get from Amazon or or you were

waiting to buy right just just get it now. Get it all now because you never know how the supply chain might be affected by all of this right. China you know those imports are significant part of our economy you know whether you like the Chinese or not right there are significant part of our economy, you know, whether you like the Chinese or not, right, they're a significant part of the economy. And if those goods, you know, parts, chemicals, minerals, you know, whatever, you know, whatever it is, if those things aren't coming across from China, then of course, that's going to cause problems, right. So look around you and if there's something critical

that you need that is available, get it now before it's too late or before the price has increased so much that it's completely out of your price range. All right, so that's the word on tariffs. I do believe that the tariffs are just Trump's way, or the administration's way of saying, okay, come talk to us about some of these really unfair

trade practices that have been going on for decades. And they know, and the world knows that a lot of these trade practices are unfair, right? We're the biggest consumer in the world. They should be treating us better. And why shouldn't we have fair trade? They should be able to import our stuff with zero or very little tariffs, right?

And we should be able to import theirs with the same. I think that that works for both parties and it will increase trade globally if that is done. So it's been coming for a long time. The US has been everybody's cash cow really. You know, when you think of countries that have 20% tariffs, 30%, 50% tariffs on our goods, versus, you know, what?

We impose two to 5% tariffs on whatever they're importing here. And yeah, that's problems. And for people who might be politically on the other side of the spectrum, not to acknowledge that, then that's journalistic malpractice, right? Because you got to look at how fair is any of this, right? So we'll see how it all goes. But I would advise, yeah, if you do need something, then go get

it now before it becomes unavailable or before you're priced out. There was another interesting article that I'm going to read to you and this one is coming from Yahoo Finance. And it's about Gen Zers. Gen Zers are interesting people. Some of you listening to this right now are Gen Zers I'm sure. But Gen Zers are interesting people and right now they're very terrified of a recession. That is something that you know baby boomers and Gen Xers have dealt with in the past but the younger people you know for them it's a real like wake up call as to like how just fragile everything is, I think, for a lot of these folks and the whole

tariff situation, you know, because that's all that's getting played in the news right now because it's a bit of bad news, right, for the administration. So they're going to pick their sides and of course they're not gonna do it equally right and they're gonna blast us all over the news and it's causing all kinds of problems you know like for the Gen Zers here right I mean the economy was bad what starting around four or five years ago, the economy was really bad, right? Four or five years ago. And we've always maintained, I've always maintained that we've always been in a recession.

That's not that no one has really acknowledged. Everything has been artificially kept going by us pumping trillions of dollars into the economy, right? If everything was fair and above board, we would have owned the recession a long time ago and we would have been probably been recovering from the recession because we would have had, you know, we would have had things in place, right?

We would have had, you know, procedures in place to deal with, you know, an ailing economy, but, you know, we had to fake it, right, because they didn't want to, they didn't want any bad use for the last administration. So this article, right, on Yahoo Finance says, Gen Zers are so terrified of a recession that they're ditching doom spending, ordering Happy Meals, and using chat GPT for free therapy. So let's see. And this was published April 21st, Emma Burlai, right?

There's a writer here and I'll read some of it to you. It says Gen Z is preparing for a potential recession with no buy lists and other thrifty habits. They're turning to free AI therapists, fast food survey rewards, and dumpster diving to weather the downturn especially as they're the most vulnerable to layoffs and rising prices. The lipstick effect was has historically been a popular way to gauge a recession against spending habits, with shoppers opting to buy smaller luxuries like makeup during a downturn versus cars and property.

But Zetgenziers are redefining their recession experience through all the things they won't buy from turning to free chat GPT bots in lieu of costly human therapists to creating no buy lists including clothes and beauty treatments they're proving they're willing to do anything to save a buck right now there is a lot of economic uncertainty. TikTok user at what she saved said in a video adding that she's tackling $9,000 worth of debt. I'm actually trying to go on this journey of eliminating as many things out of my life and living more intentionally, not just going shopping.

Her TikTok video clearly resonated with what a lot of young people are feeling right now raking in over 2.6 million views and 14,500 comments. Users chimed in under the video with their frugal hacks, surviving off Burger King survey rewards, eating kids' meals as an adult, and dumpster diving for essentials. Another user shared the tricks young adults like herself pulled out during the 2008 recession. She divulged such tactics as sneaking into hotel buffets and grabbing extra condiments at restaurants to take home. I wouldn't advise that really. Isn't that theft?

Potential inspiration for the young generation facing an economic crisis today. While no generation is immune to an economic downturn, Gen Z is considered especially vulnerable. They are the lowest on the workforce totem pole with the smallest salaries, often shackled with student debt, still trying to understand their finances as many generations before them did in their 20s. Moreover, Gen Xers don't have the savings piled up in their Gen X as their Gen X counterparts do, so cutting back on spending in small ways has become a way to actively

recession proof their lives. One popular way young people have been sharing their saving hacks is through no buy list detailing all the things they're no longer splurging on during the recession. One user on TikTok shared her rejection poster. Blankets, polyester, plastic clothing, shoes, occasion outfits, trinkets and accessories. She also opted out of salon visits, like nail and hair services, alongside buying home decor.

Another user echoed her plans to cut back spending on clothes as well as vacations and dates. Beyond frivolous expenditures, Gen Zers are also shaving their spending on essentials to make ends meet. One 25-year-old digital marketing specialist replaced her human therapist with chat GPT. Erin Briscoe's weekly sessions morphed into mini-text conversations with the AI chatbot. She now turns to several times a day. Therapy is expensive, Briscoe told the Wall Street Journal. No one has an extra $200 to spend to talk to someone.

Wow. That just can't be right, right? It just sounds like a really bad idea. Wouldn't recommend that. Gen Z trends of recession-proofing and no-by lists couldn't be farther from the tune they were singing a few months ago. Their days of splurging on little luxuries may be over as the economy takes a turn for the worse.

Young people were once known for doom spending, shelling out for pets, vacations, and clothes for short-term gratification. With the prospect of buying a home getting further out of reach and living costs reaching a fever pitch, these little dopamine hits help quell their economic anxieties. After all, Gen Zers are increasingly doubtful they'll ever be able to afford their American dream. But now, even the small luxuries are fast falling out of favor. Nearly 40% of Gen Zers do not have an emergency fund, and 27% carry more debt than they do savings according to a 2025 report from Bankrate.

These entry-level professionals are feeling the squeeze at work too. Only 43% are positive about their employer's business outlook for the next six months, according to a recent report from Glassdoor. That's the lowest number and weakest confidence ever reported since data collection started in 2016. Not only are Gen Z wallets under a pinch, but their jobs may be too. Entry-level workers have less job security. Daniel Zao, lead economist for Glassdoor Toll Fortune. As they see these economic headwinds on their horizon, there's an understandable concern that they might be the first ones to lose their

jobs in a recession, or they'll be left out in the cold when trying to find a new job. or they'll be left out in the cold when trying to find a new job. And that's the end of the article. But interesting insights into what the younger generation, what they're doing, what they're feeling. I don't know, you know, what happened to, you know, people, young people being taught to be responsible? Because this sounds like there was a lot of young people that were not really taught to be responsible with their time with their money with their lives

It's you know, it's this kind of disillusioned You know life that people were living via like their phones, right? you know, they were living through other people on TikTok and and and of course, because the breakdown and in family values, breakdown in traditional ways of doing things.

And and of course, you know, people, you know, electing to have the me, the me focus in their lives, right? It's all about empowering me. It's all about me. Everything is about me. So, you know, everything is about me.

It's about my comfort, my, you know, just me, right? And that they were not really like taught properly, I think, how to live a really balanced life. And that means, yeah, you gotta save your money. You know, yeah, you know, don't spend what you don't have so you don't go in debt, right? You know, and, you know, try to meet someone, or, you know, that can be a part of your life,

your significant other, that can be a part of your life, that complements your life, your significant other that can be a part of your life, that complements your life, right? That, you know, can share a lot of that burden with you, right? And then you can make plans for the future together, right? And you're more solid that way. But, you know, they've been taught, right? A lot of them have been taught that, well, you don't need anybody else except yourself. you know, they've been taught, right? A lot of them have been taught that, well, you don't need anybody else except yourself. And you don't need a partner in life or anything like that.

So, and I think that that is a future crisis that's gonna be happening here when a lot of these people, you know, when they get really, really old and they realize, oh, I'm too old now to have children. I'm, I'm, I'm pretty much too old to have a partner in life that, that is really, that really means anything to, to my life at this point, right? And I think that there's going to be a lonely elderly problem in about 30 years. You know, there's going to be a lot of these people who will not have anyone and they're going to be alone and they're going to be by themselves and it's going to be a

really sad situation. But that's what worshipping the God of me does, right? The narcissism cult, the narcissism culture that we're living through right now. And essentially it's a death culture, you know, because you know, it's all about me, right? You know, going back to the Bible, right? You know, what the devil's saying, you know, eat this fruit and you shall become as gods, right? You know what I mean? Knowing good from evil and all that, right? You know, once folks, I think, have a, you know, me center focus in their lives. And I think, you know, once it's all about feeding the ego, then I think that that leads to

a lot of like social, economic, you know, spiritual problems. And so we'll see where it all goes. But, you know, it's interesting that they're doing all these things. Now they're trying to recession proof their lives, so we'll see how all that works out for them. Okay, so moving on. The last thing that we'll look at here is this article from the Daily Mail. They have some interesting articles

on the Daily Mail all the time, right? And this one is about NASA scientists are baffled after spotting a mysterious skull hill on Mars. And I'll read a little bit of it to you. It says, let's see. NASA's top experts have been left baffled by the latest discovery. NASA's Perse have been left baffled by the latest discovery. NASA's Perseverance rover has spotted a mysterious rock on the Red Planet, which the space agency

has named Skull Hill. The rock was discovered in the Port Anson region which lies on the rim of the Jezero crater. Initial analysis suggests it may be a float, a type of neat rock that may have originated from elsewhere before being transported to its current location. This float rock uniquely contrasts the surrounding light-toned outcrop with its dark-toned and angular surface, and it features a few pits in the rock, NASA scientists said. If you look closely, you might even spot spherules within the surrounding regoliths.

However, the space agency admits that its true origin remains a mystery. When you look at this thing, it looks almost like a piece of plastic. I know that you can't see it, but in my description of it, the way I would describe it, it looks like a piece of trash or a piece of plastic that you would see in any trash, like in any like you know in any like trash you know like yeah dumpster area or whatever right it just looks like a piece of trash it looks like a piece of plastic and it looks

like it has this indentation in it that looks really like angular you know it almost looked like triangular it has a so it's this clear rock, clear rock-like thing. Like just imagine a really old piece of plastic, right? That smooth plastic with a triangle indentation in the plastic. That's what it looks like to me. Or a piece of glass with a triangular like imprint in it. That's what it looks like.

I could see why they're a little, you know, imprint in it. That's what it looks like. I could see why they're a little, you know, interested in it. Skull Hill was snapped by Perseverance, Mastcam Z instrument earlier this month as the rover continued its journey down lower Witch Hazel Hill. The rover stopped along a boundary visible from orbit, dividing light and dark rock outcrop.

The site the team has called Port Anson. Wow. And it says here, in addition to this contact, the rover has encoded a variety of neat rocks that may have originated from elsewhere and transported to their current location, also known as float. The rock contains dark pits which resemble the eye sockets of a skull. The pits on Skull Hill may have formed via the erosion of clasts from the rock by scarring or scarring by wind, NASA suggested. We found a few of these dark- dark tone floats in the Port Anson region.

The team is working to better understand where these rocks came from and how they got there. So it's interesting to me, right? You know, they're finding a lot of interesting things on Mars. And when you look at even our past here on this planet, where you could see where we had really sophisticated civilizations, 12,000, how many thousand years ago before what they would really accept as

the beginning of civilization. It's been proven that there's been a lot of really advanced civilizations before what we would consider the written record. And those civilizations been destroyed either by the climate changing, right? Where in the past, where places know, places that had that were above ground got flooded out because, you know, from the last

Ice Age and different things happening in the past, right? It just goes to show, right? You know, if you've ever read the book, there's a book called A Canticle for Leibowitz. There's a book called A Canticle for Leibowitz. And the whole premise of the book, right, is, you know, human civilization that has, you know, evolved from the lowest form of human civilization all the way through to very advanced civilization. And every time we get very advanced, we destroy ourselves. And then we are reset back to square one, and we have to rebuild civilization all over

again. And in the book, we've blown ourselves up a bunch of times, right? And that's the premise of the book. And to me, it seems like, right, are we on the same path again where right now we have all these nuclear weapons just proliferating our planet, right? And if we were to have a full blown nuclear war, we wouldn't survive it. No one would survive it. We would be, you know, it would be an extinction, almost an extinction level event, right? We would be very like we would be resetting civilization pretty much back to, you know, like, you know,

people living in caves and, and, you know, just restarting everything all over again. And rebuilding everything all over again. Is that where we're heading right now? You know, is it is it within our nature to keep doing this over and over again, and each civilization doesn't really have any idea of the past civilization that it has replaced because the preceding civilization has just been so thoroughly destroyed. And it makes you wonder about serious, serious prehistory, like what has gone on in our solar system before?

Because we have a very set, like what I would call, very, right now the scientists have a very set way of how they think history is gone. But what if there's a lot more to that story? I mean, even as a Christian, you realize that there is more to the universe, there is more to the story. The so-called gap theory too,

about when God created the earth, he was kind of most likely doing it for the second time because something had happened before called the gap, what's called gap theory in Christianity, right? You know, whatever happened with Satan and the angels and the fall and all of that, right? What happened before and then what happened after, right? So there's this interesting theory out there

called the gap theory in Christianity that says, well, there was something most likely before all of this, and then this was created, and then it itself became corrupted, and of course, at some point, God is gonna have to fix it, right, permanently, right? So it's interesting, and those of you who have never heard

When you read Genesis 2, you realize that it just seems, and a lot of people have noticed it, it's like something the Holy Spirit doesn't necessarily, you know, well, just want us to know about yet, right? You know, what happened during the fall, right? You know, what occurred there, right? Well, that's an interesting way to end it all, right? You know, just throwing that out there, right? Please, you know, if you need to unplug from all the craziness that's going on out there right now,

then please do so. You know, find some time to spend with your family, to get yourself spiritually renewed, know exercise eat well, you know Take care of yourself.
