Starting point is 00:00:00 Thank you for watching! Well, welcome to another episode of The Strange Truth. I'm your host, Carl B. And hopefully everybody had a great, you know, Christmas and Boxing Day. And, you know, when you're listening to this, we're going to be, you know, heading towards the new year. And, yes, I do want to say Happy New Year to to everyone listening to this. And I really hope that you ringing the new year, you know, safely. But, you know, I know I did miss, you know, last week. And I had intended on making, you know, doing a podcast last week. But it was just, there was just too much stuff going on between running all the last minute chores and work and, you know, and everything else that needed to be done.
Starting point is 00:01:42 And, yeah, it was just a bit much. you know, and everything else that needed to be done, yeah, it was just a bit much. So, you know, I decided, well, you know what, I'm just gonna, you know, just take some time, just, you know, get the important things done, not try and rush a podcast, you know, just to, you know, just to have it done, you know, just, you know, because then it wouldn't have been, it wouldn't have been done well. So, you know, I figured, you know, it was just as well to just, you know, take the time, you know, get all the, you know, the family stuff done. I get all the, you know, the family stuff done. And then, yeah, following week, yes, I can do the podcast.
Starting point is 00:02:33 I am going to do the same podcast that I had in mind. I'm not going to change. I know that the world, you know, the news of the world have moved on over the last two weeks. And there is a lot I could pick to talk about. There's a lot going on right now. And, of course, we'll get back to that. But there's just so much bad news, right? You know, that's the thing. There's just all this bad news.
Starting point is 00:02:55 And sometimes it's just nice to think about the positive things. You know, positive things like family, positive things like, you know, making plans, right, making the right plans, you know, that sense of security that we all get because we are preparing, right, you know, and, you know, taking that time, you know, taking down time with family and loved ones. And, you know, those are the good things in life. Doing the things that you really enjoy, the positive things that you really enjoy. You know, not the things that, of course, they're pleasurable, but they're destructive, right? But the positive things.
Starting point is 00:03:45 So I am going to keep this in a positive vein. My main topic tonight is going to be about the birth of Christ, which is what Christmas really is about. I made the comment earlier on that, you know, Santa Claus has become the God of the new world, right? Of the earth dwellers, right? Because he's way in their eyes, way easier, way more palatable. In their eyes, way more positive thing to talk about, right? So you see Santa Claus everywhere, right? He's in every movie.
Starting point is 00:04:22 He's not even a real person really, right? Yes, there's the myth and everything else, you know, but still, right? You know, so he's everywhere while the real reason why we celebrate Christmas, I mean, Christ's name is in most of the word, right? The real reason why we celebrate Christmas, which is in most of the word, right? The real reason why we celebrate Christmas, which is the birth of Jesus Christ into the world, when God became man, is not celebrated anymore. And no one, you don't really see this on the news. There used to be all these specials on TV about the birth of Christ and the nativity and everything else.
Starting point is 00:05:11 But you're seeing less and less of it these days, and not much. And it's relegated to the realm of the special documentary that you might see, probably on the History Channel, or of course you have the Christian channels that are on television. But, you know, in terms of mainstream media, you don't really see, you know, them talking about Christianity or Christ anymore, really. You know, you'll see a lot of Santa Claus. And to that, to the effect, you know, I have I've seen it and I'm beginning to despise it so much that I you know I had some Santa Claus decorations that I don't really put up around the house you know because you know it's it's it's almost like idolatry in a way
Starting point is 00:05:58 now you know it used to be cute but now it's all out of of hand and I just don't want to contribute to it, if that sounds strange to anyone listening to this. So we're going to talk a little bit about the life of Christ. I'm going to try and keep this to about 30 minutes today, right? You know, I'm just going to, we're going to touch on a few things about what it means, what the birth meant, you know, the whole story behind, you know, Christ. And, you know, and that to me is focusing on the good things and something really remarkable and something really fantastic and wonderful that happened over 2,000 years ago than focusing on the negative things. You know, my next podcast, I am going to be covering the news and all the threats and all the little things that we should be worried about. But in this one,
Starting point is 00:07:00 I just want to be thankful. I want to be thankful that God decided to send His only Son into the world to forgive our sins and to give us a way so that we can be one with Him and be with Him in heaven and be with Him in the new world when the millennium comes. world when the millennium comes and uh you know and and and that is something that i want to um you know i i will be talking about in this podcast but before that let's hear from our sponsors what if i told you you could own land for 200 down and highly affordable monthly payments yourcheapland.com is your answer to bug out land, hunting, recreation, and whatever else your prepper mind can dream up. Starting point is 00:08:42 Get the Prepper's Medical Handbook today at Amazon.com. Again, that's the Prepper's Medical Handbook by William W. Forgy. All right, I'm going to start off today with, you know, I'm just going to read the lyrics of the first Noel, a very famous Christmas carol. And it says here, The first Noel the angels did say was to certain poor shepherds in fields as they lay, in fields where they laying their sheep
Starting point is 00:09:19 on a cold winter's night that was so deep. Noel, Noel, Noel, born is the king of Israel. They looked up and saw a star shining in the east beyond them far, and to the earth it gave great light, and so it continued both day and night. Noel, Noel, Noel, born is the king of Israel. And by the light of that same star, three wise men came from country far. To seek for a king was their intent, and to follow the star wherever it went. Noel, Noel, Noel, born is the king of Israel. This star drew nigh to the northwest over Bethlehem. Israel. This star drew nigh to the northwest over Bethlehem. It took its rest, and there it did both stop and stay right over the place where Jesus lay. Noel, Noel, Noel, born is the King
Starting point is 00:10:16 of Israel. Then did they know assuredly within that house the king did lie. One entered in then for to see and found the babe in poverty. Noel, Noel, Noel, born is the king of Israel. Then entered in those wise men three, full reverentially upon their knee, and offered there in his presence their gold and myrrh and frankincense. Noel, Noel, Noel, born is the King of Israel. Then let us all with one accord sing praises to our heavenly Lord, that hath made heaven and earth of naught, and with his blood mankind has bought. Noel, Noel, Noel, born is the king of Israel. You know, we tend to forget that around this time, it's not just about the presents. It's not just about the Christmas tree. It's not just about, you know,
Starting point is 00:11:27 going to this person's home and that person's home and just running around and expending all of this energy, right? You know, the main reason why we celebrate this day is because Jesus was born, right, into the world. I am one of those who don't, I don't believe that Jesus was born on December 20, was it 24th or 25th? I don't believe that. I do believe that he was most likely born sometime in September, and there's a good, there is a good amount of chronology when you really, you know, study, because you remember like John the Baptist's mom, right, was pregnant with him about three months before Mary came to her, right? Uh, and, and of course, John the Baptist's dad was, you know, his father was,
Starting point is 00:12:20 um, a priest and, you know, he was actually serving, uh uh you know his turn in in the in the temple uh on a specific day and uh they've done a lot of research into this where they have mapped pretty much mapped when he did his time and they've mapped the months you know in the pregnancies and everything else. And a lot of good scholars really believe that Christ was born, you know, sometime probably in September. You know, so it, you know, he wasn't, you know, would, you know, would Caesar be asking the Jews to move, right, to do a whole census, you know, in the coldest month of the year? No, you know, he would have had, all of this would have been done in the warmer months. So, you know, it all just makes sense.
Starting point is 00:13:26 But tradition holds that we celebrate Christmas in December. And that's fine. That's fine because it celebrates that day when God became man. And let me just read from John, right, John 1, and this is from the English Standard Version, and, you know, the Word became flesh. In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through him, and without him was not anything made that was made. In him was life, and the life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
Starting point is 00:14:25 you know, it's really amazing, right? You know, the light came into the world and a lot of men rejected that light. You know, a lot of men are rejecting that light today. You know, being a Christian is not an easy path to follow. You know, it is easy to accept, well, for a lot of people, it's not easy to accept the Word of God because first, there's so many obstacles to overcome for them. They have to overcome their pride.
Starting point is 00:14:56 Their ears have to be open for the Word. It's a blessing. A famous Bible teacher once said, for the word right their ease you know it's a blessing you know um a famous teacher bible teacher once said ever for every christian right every christian is a miracle and and you and you can really see why he would say that right for anyone to become a christian in today's world is a miracle um because you know uh we all worship the God of self right now, right? It's all about what makes us feel good, right? And our own self-sense of worth, you know, whatever gives us that sense of worth.
Starting point is 00:15:36 And it's, you know, overcoming pride is very, very difficult. So, you know, but yes, in the beginning was the Word, right? And the Word was with God, and the Word was God, right? It's really amazing. And the Word came into the world. There is an interesting story here centered around Christ's family, why he came into the world the way he did. And I'm just going to read a little bit from Why a Virgin Birth, a Christmas issue by Chuck Missler. And this is on khaus.org.
Starting point is 00:16:34 And here's what he said. The problem. God announced very early that his plan for redemption involved the Messiah being brought forth from the tribe of Judah, and specifically from the line of David. The succession of subsequent kings proved to be, with only a few exceptions, a dismal chain, as the succeeding kings of Judah went from bad to worse. We eventually encounter Jeconiah, also known as Jehoiakim, upon whom God pronounces a blood curse. Thus saith the Lord, Jehoiakim, upon whom God pronounces a blood curse. Thus saith the Lord, write ye this man Chilas, a man that shall not prosper in his days, for no man of his seed shall prosper sitting on the throne of David and ruling anymore in Judea. Jeremiah 22.30. This curse created a rather grim and perplexing paradox. The Messiah had to come from the royal line, yet now there was a blood curse on
Starting point is 00:17:26 that very line of descent. And then he goes on to say, I always visualize a celebration in the council of Satan on that day, but then I imagine God turning to his angels saying, watch this. The solution. The answer emerges in the differing genealogies of Jesus Christ recorded in the Gospels. Matthew, as a Levi, focused his gospel on the Messiahship of Jesus and presents him as the Lion of the tribe of Judah. Thus, Matthew traces the legal line from Abraham, as any Jew would, through David, then through Solomon, the royal line, to Joseph, the legal father of Jesus. On the other hand, Luke, as a physician, focused on the humanity of Jesus and presents him as a
Starting point is 00:18:12 son of man. Luke traces the bloodline from Adam, the first man, through David, and his genealogy from Abraham through David is identical to Matthew's. But then after David, Luke departs Think about that. Jesus. Think about that. He fulfilled every scripture ever written, every prophecy ever written. He met every criteria of the Messiah. Every criteria, you know, Jesus met. It's amazing. He was a Nazarene. You know, he went to Egypt when he was a baby and, you know, he had to flee to Egypt when he was a baby, right? And, you know, he was born in Bethlehem, right? He is off the line, the royal line, right? Through the kings, off the line, the royal line, right, through the kings, you know, legally through his father Joseph, right, although Joseph wasn't his natural father, but legally Joseph was his father, and also through Mary, his mother. It's just amazing. It's amazing that anyone could have, would have any qualms that he is the Messiah, right?
Starting point is 00:19:52 He met every single criteria for being the Messiah. So, that is his genealogy, right? That was why the virgin birth, right? Yeah, you know, the kings that came after Solomon were just wretched. And of course, Israel divided into Judah and Israel, right? after Solomon died, you know, they had the civil, pretty much was what would have counted to a civil war, and the country was divided in two. Judah got the bigger half. Israel got the other half up there towards Samaria, right? That's why, you know, of course, when they got destroyed, they became the Samaritans up there, right? So, they were kind of like half Jews, you know, when you really get down and you study all of that. And that's why, of course, the Jews didn't really like the Samaritans.
Starting point is 00:20:52 Because the Samaritans, they regarded them as half Jews, not full Jews. So it's really amazing that, and you remember that Jesus went to the Samaritans as well. You remember the woman at the well, right, in Samaria, right? And so he carried the message all through Israel, right? So it's really amazing when you really look at what he did and just how perfectly it all transpired. So I'm going to read something from the Christian Bible Reference site. And this talks about the birth of Jesus. And I'm just going to read the whole article because this is what this podcast is about. It's about the birth of Jesus.
Starting point is 00:21:43 And I'm going to read this to you. It says, and this is taken from Matthew 1-2 and Luke 1-2. And this is from ChristianBibleReference.org. But I found it and I thought it was a nice way to, a really nice summary of the birth of Christ. An angel visits Mary. One day, about 2,000 years ago, an angel named Gabriel appeared to a young Jewish woman named Mary. Gabriel told Mary she would have a son, Jesus, who would be the son of God. Mary was
Starting point is 00:22:19 confused and worried about the sudden news, but she had faith in God and said, I am the Lord's servant. Let it be as you say. Journey to Bethlehem. Mary and her husband-to-be Joseph lived in a town called Nazareth, but they had to travel to the city of Bethlehem to register for a census ordered by the Roman Empire, Caesar Augustus. Both Nazareth and Bethlehem are in the country now called Israel. It is about 65 miles, 105 kilometers from Nazareth to Bethlehem, and the trip probably took them several days. When Joseph and Mary got to Bethlehem, there was no place for them to stay because the inn was already full. They ended up spending the night in a stable, a place where animals were kept. There was probably fresh hay on the floor that they used for beds.
Starting point is 00:23:13 That night Jesus was born. There was no crib, so they laid baby Jesus in a manger, a feeding trough for animals. The manger probably had fresh hay in it and made a nice bed for the baby. Shepherds visit Jesus. That night some shepherds were in the fields near Bethlehem keeping watch over their flocks of sheep. An angel appeared to them and gave them the good news that a Savior, the Messiah, had been born. The angel told them, the shepherds, they could find Jesus lying in a manger. Suddenly, a whole group of angels appeared, saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, goodwill towards men. The shepherds hurried into Bethlehem and found Jesus in the manger, just as the angel had told them. After they had seen Jesus, they spread the news, and everyone who
Starting point is 00:24:05 heard was in awe. Wise men visit Jesus. Sometime later, wise men or magi from eastern countries saw a star in the sky that signaled the birth of a new king. They came to Judea, the region around Jerusalem and Bethlehem, to worship Jesus, the new king. A man named Herod was the king of Judea. He called the wise men to a meeting and told them to find the new king so he could go and worship him too. The wise men continued to Bethlehem and follow the star until it was directly above the house where Jesus was. They found Mary and Jesus in the house and knelt down to worship him. They brought Jesus gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh, some of the finest things in the ancient world. Frankincense was burned to make a sweet smell, and myrrh was an expensive perfume.
Starting point is 00:24:58 After visiting Jesus, the wise men had a dream that warned them not to go back to King Herod. So they took a different route home, journey to Egypt. King Herod lied when he told the wise men he wanted to worship Jesus. He was afraid this new king would replace him as king of Judea. He did not understand that Jesus would grow up to be king of God's spiritual kingdom, not king of Judea. What Herod really wanted was to find Jesus and to kill him. Herod was furious when he realized the wise men had not come back to tell him where to find Jesus. He sent his soldiers to Bethlehem to kill all the children under two years old, thinking Jesus would certainly be one of the ones killed. But God had told Joseph in a dream to flee to Egypt. Joseph took Mary and Jesus to live in Egypt, where they would be safe from Herod. Joseph, Mary, and Jesus stayed in
Starting point is 00:25:54 Egypt until Herod had died, and then they returned to Nazareth. Wow. wow you know so there you have it right from the minute he came into the world right you know he was at odds with men they were trying to kill him right
Starting point is 00:26:17 and he had to go on the run even as a baby and eventually they did kill him right they nailed him to the cross where he paid for the sins of the world, right? He paid for the sins of anyone who would accept him, right? Anyone who accepted him as Lord, as the Messiah, as God. And it's so easy, right? It's so easy.
Starting point is 00:26:50 It's so easy. Just look, right? It's just as easy as looking, right? It's just accepting him in your heart and saying, okay, Jesus is my Lord. Jesus is my Savior. I accept that he died for me and I accept him as my Lord and Savior. It is that easy. If you're listening to this podcast right now and you've never taken Jesus into your heart, it is that simple. It is that simple, really. You know, you say Jesus is my
Starting point is 00:27:22 Lord and Savior. And after that, and after that, you know, the Holy Spirit will start working on you, right? The Holy Spirit will come into your life and start rebuilding you, right? You know, because it rebuilds the spirit, right? It doesn't rebuild the body. The body, you'll get a new body when Jesus comes back and he's ready to do that for you. But, you know, the spirit is what needs to be rebuilt. You know, we all suffer from that terminal illness, right? We all suffer, you know, from sin. Every single one of us, right? I am the biggest sinner around, right? You know, because we all, you know, we all sin every day. And, you know, our works are not enough to get us into heaven.
Starting point is 00:28:15 Just because you're a good person or just because you believe this philosophy or that philosophy, all that stuff doesn't work. The only thing that works is to accept Jesus as Lord and to get yourself. And that's the only way that you can get to heaven. You cannot do it yourself. You know, there is a little story that I'm going to read to you about how misguided people are on this point. And it goes something like this. Yeah, I was reading the book of signs by Dr. David Jeremiah. And I came across this little anecdote that he had in here. And I want to share this with you.
Starting point is 00:29:07 He talks about Jack Welch, right? Jack Welch, who led General Electric, through some of the most successful days, wrote a book called Winning, which is essentially a question and answer book. Taking questions people had asked him, he compiled answers into a book of business and management principles. As I skimmed the book, I was surprised at one of the questions. Someone had asked Jack Welsh,
Starting point is 00:29:33 do you think you will go to heaven when you die? Of course, I was interested in his answer. Jack began by describing some of the mistakes he had made in business and in life, including two failed marriages. Then he said, As far as heaven goes, as far as heaven, who knows? I'm sure, I'm sure not perfect. But if there are any points given out for caring for people with every fiber of your being and giving life all you've got every day, then I suppose I've got a shot.
Starting point is 00:30:07 Oh, Jack, I want to tell you, heaven's not about having a shot. It's not even about caring for people or giving life everything you've got every day. Heaven is about putting your trust in Jesus Christ and in him alone. Perhaps that's harder for a successful businessman to understand than anyone else because his own energy, drive, and vision have helped him achieve success. But when it comes to heaven, those rules are thrown out. Heaven is not something that you earn. It's a gift. The Bible says, the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Jesus Christ our Lord. Romans 6, 23. The way to get to heaven is to humble yourself as a little child
Starting point is 00:30:51 and acknowledge you cannot do enough good things to get to heaven. You can never make it to heaven on your own. You cannot buy a glorified supernatural body. The Lord wants to give it to you for free by grace through faith. And that's part of the problem with a lot of people. You know, they've been Hollywoodized, right? You know, I call it, you know, that's the curse of Hollywood. You know, it's a curse of, you know, all these movies that people watch, you know, people really believe that if I'm good enough, then I'll make it to heaven by my own good deeds. And that's not there, right?
Starting point is 00:31:50 All of this, you know, bad messaging that's out there. Because we've gotten away from Christianity. You know, we want the more palatable options, right? And the more palatable options don't work. You know, that's the cool thing about christianity right christianity is not a palatable thing you know it it is raw you know it shows you you know the the the good and the bad it makes you take a look at the good and the bad it makes you have to accept certain things about yourself that normally
Starting point is 00:32:26 you wouldn't want to. It makes you, you know, accept that there are certain things that you want and want to do that's not good for you and it's bad for you, right? It makes you, it makes you, it shines a light upon the way that we're living and a lot of people find that light very very disturbing and very very uh you know um when when a person has to accept that what they're thinking is wrong and what they're doing is wrong, it becomes very difficult for a lot of people, you know, to do that, you know, pride, right? Pride and a lot of confusion about what Christianity really is, what the way really is, right? And the beauty of the end product, the end product is, really is, right? And the beauty of the end product, the end product is, you know, a woman or a man in heaven, you know, living eternally, being in, you know, their original, you know,
Starting point is 00:33:39 state, the state that was meant for us, that was cruelly taken away from us when we fell, when we were deceived so many, many, many, many years ago. And the beauty of the plan to redeem us in this world that so many people shy away from. But that's what Christmas is all about. It's about God, right? Becoming one of us, going through our daily struggles and showing us that He's not some far remote God. He's not some far remote idea. He's saying, I came, I saw, I overcame, I paved the way,
Starting point is 00:34:30 just I am the way, the truth, and the life, just accept, just accept me as your Lord and Savior, right, and you're home free, you're home free, right? And of course, when you repent and you accept him and you start living your life every day, right, then it becomes, you know, it becomes so much clearer as to the enormous gift that you've been given, right? When you live that life every day, because you can begin to, you begin to understand, right? A lot of times I feel like Nicodemus. A lot of people laugh at Nicodemus, but I completely understand Nicodemus. I understand his, you know, his obtuseness, right? You know, because it's, you know, all that fog, right?
Starting point is 00:35:34 That fog needs to clear out of our lives so that we can really begin to understand. And clearing that fog out of our lives, right, is very difficult for all of us. But it was a wonderful gift when that child was born, right? And who really is that child, right? I will end with who Jesus really is. You want to know about a coming king, right? This I have taken from Dr. Chuck Missler's book, The Christmas Story, What Really Happened. And this was inspired, he said, by Pastor S.D. Lockridge.
Starting point is 00:36:12 And I'll read it to you. Our coming king, right? The king that was born in a manger so many years ago that we were supposed to be celebrating the past few days, right? You know, his birth. He is King of the Jews, King of Israel, King of all the ages, King of heaven, King of glory, King of kings and Lord of lords. Do you know him? Do you really? We often forget that he is Jewish.
Starting point is 00:36:45 When we celebrate his birth, we need to realize he was born Jewish. And a real question this, and every Christmas season, do you know him? Do you really know him? A prophet before Moses, a priest after Melchizedek, a champion like Joshua, priest after Melchizedek, a champion like Joshua, an offering in place of Isaac, a king from the line of David, a wise counselor above Solomon, a beloved, rejected, exalted son like Joseph. And yet far more, the heavens declare his glory, and the firmament shows his handiwork. He is, he who is, who was, and who always will be. The first and the last, he is the alpha and the omega, the aleph and the tau, the a and the z.
Starting point is 00:37:38 He is the first fruits of them that slept. He is the The The The The The The The

Starting point is 00:38:04 He's Immortally graceful, imperially powerful, impartially merciful. In him dwells the fullness of the Godhead bodily, the very God of very God. He is our kinsman redeemer. He is our avenger of blood. He is our city of refuge, our high priest, avenger of blood. He is our city of refuge, our high priest, our personal prophet, our reigning king. He is the loftiest idea in literature. He is the highest personality in philosophy. He is the fundamental doctrine of theology. He is the supreme problem in higher criticism. He is the miracle of the ages, the superlative of everything good. We are the beneficiaries of a love letter. It was written in blood on a wooden cross erected in Judea 2,000 years ago. He was crucified on a cross of wood, yet he made the hill on which it stood.
Starting point is 00:39:02 By him were all things made that were made. Without him was not anything made that was made. By him are all things held together. What held him to that cross? It wasn't the nails. At any time he could have declared, I'm out of here. It was his love for you and me. He was born of a woman so that we could be born of God. He humbled Himself so that we could be lifted up. He became a servant so that we could be made co-heirs. He suffered rejection so that we could become His friends. He denied Himself so that we could freely receive all things. He gave Himself so that He could bless us in every way.
Starting point is 00:39:48 He is available to the tempted and the tried. He blesses the young. He cleanses the lepers. He defends the feeble. He defends the captives. He discharges the debtors. He forgives the sinners. He franchises the meek.
Starting point is 00:40:02 He guards the besieged. He heals the sick. He provides strength to the weak. He regards the sinners. He franchises the meek. He guards the besieged. He heals the sick. He provides strength to the weak. He regards the aged. He rewards the diligent. He serves the limitless. His light is matchless. His grace is sufficient. His love never changes. His mercy is everlasting. His word is enough. His yoke is easy and His burden is light. He is indescribable.
Starting point is 00:40:37 He is incomprehensible. He is irresistible. He is invincible. The heaven of heavens cannot contain Him. Man cannot explain Him. The Pharisees couldn't stand him and learned that they couldn't stop him. Pilate couldn't find a fault in him. The witnesses couldn't agree against him. Herod couldn't kill him. Death couldn't handle him. The grave couldn't hold him. He has always been and always will be. He has no predecessor and will have no successor. You can't impeach him and he isn't going to resign. His name is above every name and that at the name of Yeshua, every knee shall bow, every tongue shall confess that Jesus is Lord. He is the kingdom, the power, and the glory forever and ever.
Starting point is 00:41:29 Amen. Amen. That was the babe that was born in Bethlehem 2,000 years ago. That is the person we're supposed to be celebrating at Christmas. Never lose sight of that message. Never lose sight of who he is. Okay. That's it for me, right?
