Get your disaster coffee today. Great coffee at a great price.
Starting point is 00:04:45 That's disastercoffee.com. All right. So we're going to start off talking a little bit about the economy. It's been flying under the radar. I know that if you're listening to this, then you probably read alternate media and you're probably aware that the banking system right now is really, you know, it's teetering. It's teetering. So the first story is from the endtimeheadlines.org. And I'm just going to read it to you. It says, developing U.S. banks file to close 64 branches in a single week. U.S. banks filed to close 64 branches in a single week.
Starting point is 00:05:51 Big banks such as PNC and JPMorgan Chase have filed to close several branch offices in multiple states amid with the most filings, according to data from the U.S. Office of the Comptroller of the Currency. Pittsburgh-based PNC Bank filed for 19 branch closures, five in Pennsylvania, four in Illinois, three in Texas, two each in Alabama and New Jersey, and one each in Indiana, Ohio, and Florida. J.P. Morgan Chase followed closely with 18 filings, three in Ohio, two each in Connecticut and South Carolina, and one each in 11 states, including New York, Illinois, Florida, and Massachusetts. Citizens Bank came in third with eight branch closings, closure filings, six in New York and one each in Massachusetts and Delaware. Minneapolis-based U.S. Bank filed for seven closures, three in Tennessee and one each in Texas, Massachusetts and California. Citibank filed for two branch closures and Sterling Bremer, first national bank of Hughes Springs, Windsor, F.S. and L.A. and Arleston County, F.S. L.A. made one filing each. Altogether, banks filed to shut down 64 branches. The recent closures are part of a long-term branch shutdown trend that has been ongoing over the past several years. And let's see. According to data from S&P, there were 3,012 branch closures last year and around 958 branch openings, leading to a net closure of 2,054 branches.
Starting point is 00:07:34 This was the third consecutive year that net closings exceeded 2,000. One major factor that led to a surge in blank bank closures is the rise of of digital banking, a trend that accelerated during the pandemic when people were stuck at home. So, you know, banks are closing up services. Right. Why they're doing it. OK. You know, all you have to do is just look at the state of the economy. Okay. Here is another article on banks that are closing. And this one is from Most Important News. Michael Snyder, right? And it says, why are big banks suddenly rushing to shut down so many local branches all over the nation? As I've discussed in previous articles, U.S. banks are currently sitting on hundreds of billions of dollars in unrealized losses.
Starting point is 00:08:37 When financial institutions get into trouble, they start getting really tight with their money and they start cutting costs. In addition to laying off workers, our banks have been cutting costs by permanently closing local branches. For example, between November 12th and November 18th, the sixth largest bank in the United States initiated filings to close 19 more local branches. And, you know, that's PNC, right? America's sixth largest bank, PNC, has confirmed the closure of 19 more branches nationwide, following a staggering 203 branch closures earlier this year. This decision, aligning with the bank's shift towards digital banking, is raising concerns among customers who prefer traditional banking methods.
Starting point is 00:09:16 Scheduled for November 2024, the closures will primarily impact Pennsylvania, where the majority of branches marked for closure are located. However, several branches in other states, including Illinois, Texas, Alabama, New Jersey, Ohio, Florida, and Indiana, will also be shutting their doors, leaving customers in these regions with limited access to in-person banking services, the Sun reported. JP Morgan, 18 filings right citizens bank eight more right um and says it says uh in just in just one week u.s banks decided to shut down a total of 64 branches this is stunning uh what we're witnessing right now is a tsunami of branch branch closures unfortunately even more troubling is coming even more trouble is coming for our
Starting point is 00:10:12 banks because the real estate industry is a total mess right now and it says new home sales in the united states fell in october as typical mortgage rates reached their highest levels this year. Wow, the median price for a single-family home sold in October fell by 3.1 from September to $409,300, right? That's a lot of money for a house. You know, the median price for a house, right? So the whole banking and housing industry is pretty much in trouble right now, right? So the whole banking and housing industry is pretty much, you know, in trouble right now, right? And they say in the days ahead, we're going to hear about a lot more banks that need to shore up their finances. And it is inevitable that more banks will fail. A number of people have asked questions about their banks lately. And I have told them that the same thing
Starting point is 00:11:03 I tell everyone, it's wise never to put all your eggs in one basket we're moving to a period of time that's going to be extremely chaotic he says um but you know and and that is true right we're we're in a really uh uh you know um chaotic time right now right um here's another one in the daily mail regional banks come Americaica first horizon and zions are the greatest are at the greatest risks of being acquired by large larger rivals analysts warns as the industry faces shake-up following the collapse of silicon valley bank is yours at risk and um they say since the and this is from the Daily Mail UK. So, you know, the whole, all these stories about the banking industry are there.
Starting point is 00:11:50 If you do, if you really do the research, if you're, you know, if you're really interested in, if this is one of the reasons why you prep or, you know, if you believe that, you know, there's going to be a financial collapse soon. It says, since the collapse of silicon valley bank in march the u.s banking industry has been poised for a reconfiguration that could see smaller regional banks wiped out that is because the collapse of svb and later signature bank was a warning that new regulations may be needed to prevent another potentially more dangerous banking crisis. This is specifically banks with assets between $80 billion and $120 billion will be worst positioned as new regulations will incur costs on them, which larger banks will be able to afford more easily, according to a report. So a lot of these banks, the bigger banks likely to cannibalize them
Starting point is 00:12:48 them are those with strong returns such as huntington fifth third m&t and regions according to report so they're the bigger banks are waiting right you know to buy out the smaller banks. That's what we saw when the banks were failing earlier this year. Bigger banks came in, pretty much bought out the smaller banks. And the crisis at that time was averted. And the crisis at that time was averted, right? But it's all just a matter of time, okay? Now, we're going to switch gears here, right?
Starting point is 00:13:36 We're going to switch gears because the other big story this week, right? And I'm just going to read from Breitbart, right? But I'm sure that, and this story has been popping all over the place. And it says, DC hospitals seeing more sick people amid global worries about respiratory illness in China. Hospitals in China are reportedly grappling with cases of respiratory illnesses,
Starting point is 00:14:01 and the situation has some American medical professionals concerned. In Washington, D.C., hospitals, emergency rooms, urgent care facilities, and clinics are seeing a rise in patients seeking care, Fox 5 said Monday. The outlet reported, The World Health Organization is reportedly reviewing data from China after video apparently emerged showing droves of people being treated for what's being described as a mystery respiratory illness disproportionately impacting children. And PM, Pediatric Senior Medical Advisor Dr. Christina Johns tells Fox 5
Starting point is 00:14:38 the medical community is watching what's happening in China closely, but there is no panicking yet. The Chinese state newspaper Global Times recently acknowledged the rising cases of respiratory illnesses in the country that have mostly affected children, Breitbart News reported Friday. China has blamed the situation on the population's immunity gap that was due to its extremely strict coronavirus lockdowns. Chinese hospitals in the nation's largest cities have been struggling to keep up with demand as panicked parents bring their children in for diagnosis, the Global Times says. Wow. On Thursday, the World Health Organization, who said that there are no unusual or novel pathogens found in the clusters of child pneumonia cases affecting the communist country,
Starting point is 00:15:24 found in the clusters of child pneumonia cases affecting the communist country. Breitbart News reported, added, that the organization was trying to allay fears that another global pandemic was on the horizon. And it says, according to the Mayo Clinic, pneumonia is an infection that inflames the air sacs in one or both lungs, and it can be mild or threaten a person's life. It is most serious for infants and young children, people older than 65, and people with health problems or weakened immune systems, the site reads. Adding some symptoms includes chest pain when breathing or coughing, fatigue, fever, low body temperature, nausea, and shortness of breath. Officials with the Virginia Department of health said they're monitoring flu activity in the area according to the fox report so who knows what's really going on in china they weren't they
Starting point is 00:16:14 weren't honest when when covid broke out right you remember they were not honest about it and um and who knows what's going on now i i think that they're playing around with a lot of pathogens in that country, right, in labs in that country. Okay. And, you know, from time to time, these things just seem to be getting out, right? You know, their level of care there, right, in those labs are not, you know, are not up to standard, proper standard. So I think that they're playing around with a lot of stuff. And, you know, these things are, you know, they get out from time to time and they rush around trying to control things, right? So who knows?
Starting point is 00:17:00 This is something that we'll keep an eye on. The pictures are disturbing when you see them. But, you know, is it something for us to worry about? Right. I think that we're all pretty jaded after COVID. And if this if we had seen this, you know, four years ago, we would have been a lot more concerned. And now we're just waiting and seeing um what's happening right and hopefully uh it does you know this thing doesn't pop uh in europe and it doesn't pop here because if it does then we know we probably have a problem right and um who knows it's amazing how you know it's popping again uh around the same time as covid did right you? You know, December, right? They start seeing cases in December.
Starting point is 00:17:46 You remember that? And it actually, you know, got into Europe around January and it was here by March. So who knows, right? The same pattern, if you look at the same pattern. So if this is something that we're going to be concerned about, that we'll know, you know, let's see, December, January, February, we'll know, you know, let's see, December, January,
Starting point is 00:18:05 February, we'll know in the next two months or so if this is something that probably we need to be concerned about because it might follow the same trajectory as COVID did. So it's something to really kind of keep an eye on. So we see the banking industry, you know, flailing about, right? And we see this mystery illness, right, probably popping in China. There are all these wars that are going on now, the one, the Israel-Hamas war, and the Russia-Ukraine war, right? And both of those wars can spiral and become even bigger issues in the future. You know, we see there's one story, the last story that I'll look at here for the night.
Starting point is 00:18:54 And this one was about the grid, what was going on with the grid. Okay. And this one, I'm just going to read from All News Pipeline, right? And it says, Insiders warn the dangers of going green will be catastrophic as the Biden administration rushes shutting down hydroelectric dams and coal plants that supply power to tens of millions.
Starting point is 00:19:18 And when the grid goes down and the lights go out, no one will come to help. This is by Stephan Stanford, right? All News Pipeline, right? And it says here, and it says here, there is a story titled Grid Operator Sons Alarm
Starting point is 00:19:40 as Coal Plant Shutdown Threatened Power for Millions. The story immediately caught my attention with Brandon Schor's coal power plant near Baltimore, Maryland, serving millions of people in the Baltimore, Washington, D.C. region, and that closure planned for June of 2025 being just a small part of a much larger settlement with the Sierra Club. Reporting that back in 2020, Texas-based Talion Energy and coal plants operator had agreed with the Sierra Club. Reporting that back in 2020, Texas-based Talion Energy and coal plants operator had agreed with the Sierra Club to close Brandon Shorts and two other major coal plants in the region in an attempt to avoid any future litigation. The then CEO of Talion Energy,
Starting point is 00:20:16 Ralph Alexander, described the move as part of the company's transition to green energy and its broader environmental, social, and governance-focused future. However, as the operator of the grid, PJM Interconnection, has warned, the premature closure of Brandon Shores would create an imbalance in the grid. With Jeff Shields, a spokesman for PJM Interconnection, direly warning the severe voltage drop and thermal violations across seven PJM zones that could result from the plant's deactivation could lead to widespread reliability risks in Baltimore and surrounding areas, which shields also warning an urgent need to upgrade the transmission system in order to maintain reliability and the flow of power to the 65
Starting point is 00:21:04 million people we serve. And it says, Can you imagine the city of Baltimore and numerous surrounding areas, including Northern Virginia, the District of Columbia, Delaware, and Southeast Pennsylvania, without power for an extended period of time? And it says, As the Resist mainstream story warns, such a scenario is potentially catastrophic. And it says the Biden administration is quietly working. And this is another story over at Fox News. The Biden administration is quietly working on a settlement with groups in the state of Washington who are seeking to tear down a key power source there for different hydroelectric dams.
Starting point is 00:21:46 Once again, a long running project with the Sierra Club. The Sierra Club has outright stated their goal is the protection of the wild salmon in the Columbia Basin. Right. And says here they're requesting a multi-year pause on a litigation to allow for implementation of the package as soon as December 15, 2023. So starting to see the big picture, as we'll explore within the remainder of the story, it's not just power plants in the state of Maryland and the state of Washington that are at risk due to environmental groups teaming with big government to shut down American power supplies. You know, it's becoming a real problem, right? It says here,
Starting point is 00:22:30 Representative Harris warns of a real danger to the well-being and livelihood of Maryland families and businesses. Having lived and worked in Baltimore, Washington, D.C. for years and years, I can assure you most people living in those areas will be up the creek without a paddle should the power grid come crashing down for any extended period of time. While most of the people living in those city areas, unable to even tell you what prepping is at a time when more Americans than ever are worried about paying their mortgage and rent utilities and getting food under the Biden administration. It's not too difficult to imagine the chaos that would be unleashed should, God forbid, the grid came crashing down.
Starting point is 00:23:14 And it says here, how many Americans do you think could even go a week without power, heat, and water, and all of the madness unfolding now so the Biden administration can appease environmental groups and there has been a strong push for quite some time to get poke coal power out of maryland summer said in an interview with fox news uh digital in this accelerated timeline of existing of exiting from coal fired power plants in the coming 12 to 24 months i think it's going to create a major reliability concern for the state the loss of power poses a real danger to the well-being of livelihoods of maryland families and businesses
Starting point is 00:23:57 somerset until these current risks to our grid are fully dealt with. It's a mistake to close reliable baseload power plants too soon. That should be a concern to consumers in Maryland and businesses in Maryland that rely on dependable power. Right. And it says with all Marylanders and practically everyone across the country in 2023, totally relying upon dependable power and with most Americans totally clueless about what they should do in such an shtf scenario as the electric grid going down right uh you know this this is really going to start causing a problem right um and uh let's see there are 30 substations in the u.s that play a critical role in the nation's grid operations there's a report that says if terrorists were able to knock out nine of the nation's 55,000 substations, the U.S. power grid could suffer coast-to-coast blackouts lasting 18 months or more,
Starting point is 00:25:15 according to a leaked excerpt from the FERC report. There are 30 substations in the U.S. that play a critical role in the nation's grid operations. The report said if any nine of them were taken offline, there would be widespread blackouts for weeks or longer. So it would cripple the grid. In Texas, they're also having some problems there.
Starting point is 00:25:42 Texas officials have warned that they may need to use rolling blackouts to ease the strain on the state's power grid this winter. Right. So it's all over the place. In New Jersey, they just decided to ban all gas powered cars by 2035. And you can see in all the blue states with all the governor, Democratic governors, right, they're going to be pushing this crazy rush towards, you know, electric cars. And them putting more load on the grid this way. And then, of course, getting rid of coal plants, you know, hydroelectric plants, right, that power or grid. right that power or grid and already you know like it's it's the grid is is not what it was 50 years ago um it already is really struggling to meet the needs of our country uh you know as it is you know as it stands right now so can you imagine right uh with new york california right you know um uh new jersey and all of these
Starting point is 00:26:50 really big states because a lot a lot of the grids are all interconnected you know like uh you know a lot of you know new york gets a lot of its power from places in canada right washington state you know like the the grid, the grid is a really weird thing. So it's not all just coming, you know, it's not all being generated in New York State. So when you have these states saying, okay, we're going to make the push towards,
Starting point is 00:27:16 you know, green energy, and we're going to basically shut off or, you know, shut down our coal plants and everything else. And then we're going to put all of these electric cars on the road and put all these heat pumps in your homes, right? Because we're not going to be allowing you to use propane, gas-powered utilities in your buildings anymore. Then that puts a load not only on that state's grid, but nationwide.
Starting point is 00:27:48 And that's the big thing that a lot of people are missing, is that a lot of these, the grid is all interconnected. It's all tied in together. So when these folks here in New York say, okay, we're going to shut down these nuclear plants and we're going to shut down all of these coal power plants and these hydroelectric dams, we're going to shut them all down. And then we're going to put up all these solar farms and windmills and all that. you know, farms and windmills and all that, that creates a real problem, not only for their state,
Starting point is 00:28:31 but it creates a real problem all over the country. And that's bad governance. And, you know, we have a president and we have a, you know, a Senate, right, that's making that happen. It's bad governance. Okay. So three things that we covered tonight, Right. We covered three things tonight. We covered the you know, what's going on economically with the banks. You know, I wanted to refresh your memory that the banking industry is not out of the woods by a long shot. I also wanted to, you know, mention this mystery illness, because who knows, right? As I said, if we know what the COVID trajectory was, if it is something for us to
Starting point is 00:29:12 worry about, then the trajectory will probably be the same, right? We started seeing COVID blip in China, you know, in late November, December, right? And then it popped up in Europe, you know, late December, January, February, right? And then by March, it was here, in here, causing real problems in the U.S. So we'll just, we'll keep an eye on it, right? We're not going to get bent out of shape about the whole thing, right? But we'll just keep an eye on it and see what happens with that and then of course right the whole thing with the grid right uh you know um it is something that i think that we're it is we're so vulnerable on that front so everything is fraying at the edges which one of these things is going to be the thing that tips us over, right? You know,
Starting point is 00:30:05 which one is going to be the black swan event? I was just reading an article that Pennsylvania, right, I think that they were hacked, right, over in Pennsylvania. I think it was their water plants, you know, the hydroelectric plants, right, that were hacked, right, by the Iranians. So, you know, who knows, you know, what will tip us all over the edge. And we just got to keep an eye on all of this, right? We're just going to keep an eye on all of it. All right, folks. This is where I'm going to sign off. Okay.
Starting point is 00:30:40 It was a pleasure touching bases, right? But these are the big stories. These are some big things that we all got to keep an eye on And You know I'll see you guys next week Keep listening to PBN this weekend There's a lot
Starting point is 00:30:56 On PBN this weekend Draven Rock I believe that we got Reliance back I think We're going to be getting that back on a regular basis on Sunday. I could be wrong, but, you know, give it a listen, you know, tune in and see if it's there. And, of course, we have the Changing Earth podcast on Sunday. So, and you can go back and you can look at the shows for this week.
Starting point is 00:31:21 And if there's any there that, you know, catches your eye, then, then give it a listen. If this is something that you think that your friends, you know, could use, please pass this around. We are a unique resource here on PBN, right? So let others know that, that we're here. And if you, you know, if you want become a member, right, that will unlock a lot more, you know, things, right. That, you know, become a member. That will unlock a lot more things that will give you a lot more access here at PBN. So there's a lot going on. And these are serious times, and serious times require serious people.
