Starting point is 00:00:00 Larry Wilmore here, host of the podcast, Larry Wilmore, Black on the Air. Now, in my latest episode, I talked to Senator Bernie Sanders about the state of the Democratic Party and the polarization happening in America and Trump's rise to power. And Trump picked up and he said, you know what, I feel your pain. The establishment is ignoring you. I, Donald Trump, I, of all people, am going to take on the establishment. Well, he lied, of course. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:00:26 But that was his message. So you can hear this episode in full and subscribe to my show by searching for Larry Woolmore. Black on the air on Apple Podcast, Stitcher, Spotify, mobile, or wherever you get your podcasts. Welcome to Bachelorette Party. I'm Juliet Litman. It's a new season. Rachel's our gal. And of course, for episode one, how to bring in my favorite guest, the sports gal. Carrie, hi. Hi. How are you? Lovely. Very excited. Great to see you this morning. I decided we'll do this a little bit differently than we have previously. I feel like in the past we've tried to go over every person and it's just unmanageable. And also, so many of these people do not matter. No, I agree.
Starting point is 00:01:21 Like I was like going through the bios. It was just like the pictures this morning to familiarize myself with everyone. I was just like, was that person on the show? Like, who is that? There were 31 guys. Yeah, no, I did the same thing. That's the most they've ever had for a Bachelorette. So what we're going to do is just hit seven burning questions about this premiere and look forward.
Starting point is 00:01:41 Let's do it. Number one, what did Rachel do wrong in episode one? If anything. You know, I think she's fantastic. Me too. She's on. She's beautiful. She's smart.
Starting point is 00:01:53 She's funny. We all know this. I don't honestly think that she should have given Wabooam or whatever is freaking what the hell guy a chance. He's horrible. That's what she did wrong, but I know the producers did that. Yeah. We're going to talk a lot more about Waboo. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:02:09 I really don't think she did anything else wrong. I don't think so either. She said that she had been, I think she's wonderful. Completely agree. Did you like her dress? I thought her dress was beautiful. Yeah. It looks really.
Starting point is 00:02:19 She looked really good. I think, like a white. but like not straight white is smart. It's kind of like bridal, which like makes sense for the show. Yeah. But it's like cool. And it showed her curves right? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:02:28 She definitely has that like smaller, top, bigger bottom look, which is fine. Looks good on her. Yeah, definitely. I mean, the thing is Rachel is different. Like first of all, she's the first black bachelorette, which is a huge deal, black bachelor or bachelorette.
Starting point is 00:02:43 So that is just going to make this whole season different because she's a different type of woman. But more than that, like she's smart. She's a little bit older. She's 32 and she's a little bit older. Like those are two things that aren't common on the show. Like she is like, you know, she's like a real like woman of substance. She's kind of Andy-esque. Yeah, totally.
Starting point is 00:02:59 She is Andy-esque. That is true. I hope that she goes back to being a lawyer though. Andy did not return to her legal career. Yeah, I hope she doesn't like go for like, you know, being an actress or Hollywood. No. Don't do that. It's true.
Starting point is 00:03:10 But she's awesome. Like she had some good like catchy one liner. She was fast. She also seemed very comfortable. Like. Very comfortable. I think it usually takes the people a little while to get used to being like in the spotlight and like being on camera but she seemed like so at ease with it yeah she didn't miss a beat
Starting point is 00:03:25 like even when the guy came in and did the like dance move and like she immediately she was like continued the flow yeah yeah she was she was right on i think she did also come right off a season yeah she did so she was like it was kind of like you're playing basketball or you're practicing and then you go into the game and you're already ready you're warm she's warm and she did play basketball on her open she came in hot yeah um so thanks for bringing up timing i just wanted to get it out there that They started filming four days, I think, or so after the after the final rose. So the men that she met on the after the final rose when we saw them back in March or whatever on Nick's finale night, she's seeing them four days later. So like even though we've forgotten about them, like she just met them.
Starting point is 00:04:06 So when she sees them again and they come out of the limo, I feel like they try to play it up like it had been a long time, but it wasn't. It was like a few days ago. And if you really like someone, you remember them like after five days or whatever. You know, they like stick out, stick out in your mind or whatever. Okay. So Rachel, I agree. She didn't really do anything wrong. Like, I would say it was a weird thing that she didn't want to kiss anyone on the first night.
Starting point is 00:04:30 It wasn't weird, but I'm just like, why not? What's the point of being on the show? Well, she didn't want to look cheap and easy. Sure. I mean, it's true. And so, you know, that interesting tone set her, like, oh, maybe she's going to try to, like, play it conservatively or she wants to. Yeah. I don't see her playing it conservatively.
Starting point is 00:04:51 That was like a key insight though. Yeah, it was. It's weird that she did say that and then she immediately went in. I'm glad that she did though. Yeah. Like she sort of like, okay. She went with her gut. She went with her feelings.
Starting point is 00:05:00 Got swept up in the minute, in the moment or whatever. Okay. So Rachel, great job. I'm excited about her. Thumbs up. Yeah. Also, I, in this season on, which I like rewatched five times, I thought she had some great looks, which I'm excited about it as well.
Starting point is 00:05:14 She wears a lot of hats. Yeah, she's a good. She has that kind of face. Yeah, she wears, um, like a lot of like knit beanies or whatever. But she's a hard look to pull off, honestly. Yeah, unless you have that like soft look that she has. Yeah. She's got that going on.
Starting point is 00:05:29 Yeah. She's, she's going to look amazing this season. I think some of her clothing looks are going to go far. I know. When you go, when you transition from being a contestant to the main character, your look just gets so much better because you get a stylist. So it's just like, you don't have to do it yourself. But she already dressed well.
Starting point is 00:05:45 I'm excited. I love Rachel. She's great. You too. Next. You already brought him up. Let's just get out of the way. Let's talk with the Wab Boom guy. On a scale from 1 to 10, how much do you hate him? I fucking hate him a hundred. This is why you hate him. I want to just bring in what his intro sounded like. This is what happened when he was getting out of the limo. Good evening stepping out of the limo next standing at six feet tall. in a whopping one
Starting point is 00:06:19 195 pounds your lean muscle mass he also has one testicle larger than the other testicle good to know which of course is completely
Starting point is 00:06:33 normal your future husband that was our intro to Wobo and you didn't watch very strange but he was in the the limo and like yelling through like a megaphone or whatever. So he was like his own announcer, his own hype man.
Starting point is 00:06:56 I didn't mind that part. You didn't? If he came out and he was somewhat normal, like because it was one of those of all the awful gimmicks, it's the worst gimmick, the Waboo me thing. Sure. And regardless, at least that was original. And if he came out and he was like just a normal guy or whatever and acted somewhat realistic.
Starting point is 00:07:15 I actually kind of agree with you. I might have been okay. Listening back to him like, oh, this is actually kind of funny in charge. I could actually like, and if that was the end of it. Yeah, that was it. But then he did this, then repeatedly kept doing things like, wah boom. Okay, that's really irritating.
Starting point is 00:07:34 That's so irritating. And it's also just like an eruption. Like, it's just like bizarre. And then the face is so un, like, it just grosses me out. I agree. His head moving back and forth. Like, and then he gets all red. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:07:46 How does she like look at him and not want to punch him in the face? I don't know. So that's an important part of this is his like presentation. He's wearing like a blubing. suit and then instead of wearing a shirt he's wearing his self um branded wabum tank top which at least put it where make a t-shirt a tank top really yes I'm kind of surprised he didn't a muscle tank he seemed like the kind of dude who just like jumped into the pool or whatever yeah he I'm surprised he even making the pool I've got kind of what she had it's it's sort of a bummer if
Starting point is 00:08:13 no one goes in the pool on the first night but this whole thing with this guy yeah it's just showing me what the bachelor what's happening with the bachelor right something's going on right Like, is it really that boring that we have to bring in, like, a drummer, a marching band with a drummer and a guy in a penguin suit? He's got a copy of the dolphin girl. Now we got the catchphrase dude. I mean, it's getting too far. It's crazy. I know.
Starting point is 00:08:37 And the Wabooom guy, he didn't let the megaphone go. Then he was like narrating what was happening for the rest of the guys. I actually kind of like that was killing me. But did you notice that? No one really reacted. Like, he was clearly doing it just for the camera because none of the other guys were like, oh, what's happening out there. Like, none of them were paying attention to him.
Starting point is 00:08:54 Probably because he's so annoying. They didn't want to engage. Yeah. But it was just, it was completely like in a vacuum. It was like he was on his own episode or something. The only dude who got mad at him was Blake, the marching band man.
Starting point is 00:09:07 Yeah. But otherwise, it was almost like they ignored him, except that he was irritating, which I actually think is the way to handle it because you don't want to engage with a crazy guy. You don't want to be like, yeah, let's talk about how you are annoying or whatever. You don't want to give him more screen time.
Starting point is 00:09:20 Yeah. They all know what they're doing about him. He got enough, though. He did. They kept like going back to him basically for like laughs. But that is a good point. Like kind of was a sneaky boring premiere. Like Rachel has a lot of charisma so that helped carry it.
Starting point is 00:09:35 And there was the Wabooam guy and a couple others who like kind of help push it forward. But there was that. If Wabooam is like the headline and that's like not a good side of my opinion. I agree with you. The other headliner was Brian. And my next question is, does Brian have a real chance? Brian, if you recall, is Colombian, and he wanted everyone to know that. Let's listen to his intro as well.
Starting point is 00:09:59 Well, first of all, my name is Brian. Brian. I want to say that you're going to be spectacular this night, and no putt to expect to know better. Did you get all that? Some of it. Something about I look spectacular tonight. Yo.
Starting point is 00:10:17 You get brownie points. You get brownie points for that. So I have a question. Have you ever dated a Colombian guy before? Not Colombian. Oh, girl. Am I in trouble? You in trouble.
Starting point is 00:10:28 You in trouble. But it's all good trouble. So I look forward to getting to know you better. And I look forward to getting in trouble. There you go. Ma. Nice to meet you. Bye, bye.
Starting point is 00:10:40 Okay, so they have like a real instant connection, I think. Can I just say, not Colombian? Not Colombian. I know. Hey, Rachel. Every other. She'd been up to. Yeah, seriously.
Starting point is 00:10:50 That, okay, so a couple of things here. first of all, I want to say, Brian is 37 and he's a chiropractor. I just have a personal distrust of chiropractors. I love this about you. I don't really know why, but I'm just like, why chiropractor? Like, what drives you into that profession? Because you want to ease people from their pain? We'll just be a doctor.
Starting point is 00:11:08 Yeah. But then there's people that are masseuses. That's true. I personally like the idea of chiropractor. Because he's good at his hands. Yes. And he knows the human anatomy. It's true.
Starting point is 00:11:18 So then you know he's got other skills possibly, right? And like if I was married to a chiropractor, there's no fucking way there wouldn't be a table laid out right in my bedroom, right? As much as possible. I'm getting adjusted every morning when I wake up. So it's almost like a utility play. It's like, yeah. Keep him around for his facility with your body, basically. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:11:37 Well, I think that she probably felt the same way. And he's got her look. She's got a look. Yeah, she does. She likes some facial hair. Yeah. And like sort of like a little jaw. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:11:47 He was a little nickish. But there's a lot of guys look like that. I think like all. the white guys on the show look the same. I know. There was another dude who I saw him in the, oh, Matt, who was in the penguin suit? I saw him in the season on. I was like, who is that?
Starting point is 00:12:00 Is that like, bizarre world, Brian? Because it looked very similar. It's just like a style, I guess. Also, like, there was the guy Rob, who I think I voted off, who was the law school student, who also was like tall, dark and handsome, but he, I think, was wearing glasses as a differentiator. He was the one that, the rapper. Yeah, he was that awful rap.
Starting point is 00:12:17 He was really, really bad. That's probably why he had to go. Rob did not have bars. He didn't get the producer pick, that's for sure. Yeah, he was definitely like too boring. There's Alex. Who's Alex? Alex, great question.
Starting point is 00:12:28 He was like that kind of foreign guy also like kind of like Colombian-ish. Who was like his mom was a big part of his intro. But he looked like them too. Yeah, he did. Alex, I think he told he had an IQ of 180, which I guess is good. I've never really understood IQ test. So maybe mine's low. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:12:45 Mine's definitely low. So Brian got the first impression arose. and also the only makeout of the night. And I think I'm talking myself into Brian. However, he's a chiropractor. And B, his kissing was very weird. He swallowed her face. He swallowed her face and just like a lot of head motion.
Starting point is 00:13:06 Like it was almost like back. It was like a kissing roller coaster or something like that. It was like a lot of like bouncing back and forth. Do you think these guys practice kissing before they go on the show to see what it's going to look like? I mean like it out with a girl. Like I mean, he didn't because he cannot. thought that looked appealing. I'm not saying he necessarily
Starting point is 00:13:22 a bad kisser, but just the way he looked was just sort of like, what's happening here? Maybe it was like a dance kiss. Maybe. It was just like, it was so,
Starting point is 00:13:30 um, aggressive is like the only way to say it. But he didn't really seem aggressive to me. So I don't know. But she liked it. So I guess she was obviously into it. They had a few kisses. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:13:38 He went in for it, even though she didn't want to. And then when he got the rose, they kissed again. Yeah. I mean, the first impression was probably important to her because she got it.
Starting point is 00:13:47 Definitely. So she probably like thinks that has a lot of meaning, And it does have a lot of meeting because almost every bachelor where the first impression, that first impression rose, that person's usually in the final four. Yeah, like it's definitely around for a long time. Yeah. Yeah, like sets the stage for that, like, for them to like be in the mix. Be hated by everyone in the house.
Starting point is 00:14:04 Sure. He doesn't seem hateable, though. He doesn't. I like that he's 37. Yeah, he's ready to get married. Yeah, that's like a normal time to meet each other. But that again, why are you already 37? And not married and also on the show.
Starting point is 00:14:17 It's a good, a great question. Yeah. Maybe he's divorced. I would love. The shoes going to drop. Not enough divorce days on this franchise. No, I don't know if it's been brought out yet. Why not?
Starting point is 00:14:27 Kenny the wrestler. Yeah. Is he divorced? He must be right. He might be as a kid. Yeah. You had a really, a crazy sexual past.
Starting point is 00:14:34 Yes. So Kenny's the one whose bio was scrubbed. Originally on his bio, it said that his crazy as sexual encounter was having sexal woman in front of her husband. And then a day later, that was removed from his bio. No explanation. Interesting. Okay.
Starting point is 00:14:46 I didn't know that. No word on that from ABC yet. But I will get to. to the bottom of it. One more thing about Brian. He was like he's like a very run home of a Colombian guy and she was like, no, not yet, which obviously we love. Amazing answer, Rachel.
Starting point is 00:14:59 Yeah. But B, I feel like this is going to be a lot of this season. It's a lot of like, have you ever X with Y before? Like we see Rachel say to Jackstone like how you ever brought home a black woman before. And then there's a lot there's a lot of like because she is black
Starting point is 00:15:15 I feel like race is, has just moved into the forefront obviously. But now also like being like played up it's almost like what are all the different ways you can be like have you ever been with like this type of person before yeah i don't know um it seems like a little cynical but i'm also i'm kind of interested to see it play out on tv because it just is different for the different for the show it's not a hugely diverse cast no like it's it's either black guys or white guys totally then there's there's there's blake who's agent he's already out yeah but he's gone yeah there's a couple and there's like eggy it is more diverse but
Starting point is 00:15:49 it's certainly not like, you know, every color of the rainbow. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, it's like, it's just like it's going to, it's going to be an ongoing conversation like about like how they're handling it, obviously, because it's just, it's just so different and has been the elephant in the room for the show for its entire 20 seasons, basically. I think Brian's going to go far though. Bring it back to Ryan. I'm in for Brian. He was a lot. He was in a lot of this season on. Also, I liked his jacket. One, one thing I noticed, no, that was, he was wearing white shirt with the black. Yeah, the gray. Yeah, it was like the gray.
Starting point is 00:16:20 Dark gray. Yeah, it was like a dinner jacket. That's what that's called, right? Yeah, it's a dinner jacket. I liked it. It was sexy. I thought so, too. I like a nice jacket, no tie.
Starting point is 00:16:27 Mm-hmm. I'm with you. I think it's a good look. It's a very L.A. look. Is it? Yeah. I've become indoctrinated. You are.
Starting point is 00:16:33 You live here now. That's awful. Sorry. How embarrassing. There were a couple dudes in New York. Yeah, a lot. Yeah. I also liked me and your daughter both liked Peter, who was wearing the blue jacket.
Starting point is 00:16:46 I liked his also. Peter looked like he was going to the Emmys, not the Oscars, but the Emmys. And he's like, this is a cool look for me. I was into it. We'll talk about Peter again in a second. I don't know. I just, I just feel like Brian, there was really something there. She seemed excited
Starting point is 00:17:01 about him. I think she's, I think he's definitely final two. Yeah. I bet not winner, though. It would be weird if they gave that away in the first episode. I don't know who the winner is. I wonder if they're grooming Brian for the next Bachelor. They might be. Because I don't, do you see a winner?
Starting point is 00:17:16 Do you see an engagement? That's a great question. I want to talk about that next. But first, let's just talk about my sponsor. It's a good one I'm excited about. So I'm usually kind of a planner, especially when it comes to traveling, but there's this app called Hotel Tonight that's been making me rethink things. Basically, Hotel Tonight teams up with great hotels to help them sell their unsold rooms, which means there are always incredible deals available. And these aren't last resort places. They're cool, top-rated hotels that you actually want to stay in. There's a really helpful rating system that's like hip or Lux or, you know, very cool. basically tells you what kind of place you're getting into. There's over 15,000 awesome partner hotels in 36 countries. A hotel tonight can help you find a great hotel almost anywhere. Whether I want to spend the weekend away on a whim or book myself a staycation at a cool local place, hotel tonight's helping me be just a little bit more spontaneous. In fact, last month, I was in New Orleans, and I was staying at a really crappy hotel and was desperate to get out of there. So I fired up my hotel tonight app and I found a great Marriott Courtyard. And it was a delightful hotel. I had a great
Starting point is 00:18:19 time staying there and it's all because of Hotel Tonight. You can even book it up to a week in advance, so it's not just for last minute getaways. Although honestly, there's a real thrill in using it just for the night that's coming up. All it takes is 10 seconds, just three taps and a swipe. See for yourself. Download the Hotel Tonight app now. All right. So you just ask who the winner is, which is my next question. Who's your sleeper pick as a winner? I mean, I kind of like Dean. Dean. Okay. Yes. Dean is number one of my list of sleeper picks, partially because he's in this so much on of this season on. He also was after the final rose and he
Starting point is 00:18:54 said that he wanted to go black and never go back. So Dean is like already doing the producer's work by talking about race in a uncomfortable weird way. He's kind of like he reminds me Jacoby a little bit. Oh, interesting. Wow. And that's what I like about Dean. In one way. Tell me
Starting point is 00:19:11 more. He's just that tall like he's got swagger for a white guy. You know? Yes. Like it's like he can cross both sides like I don't know. There's something about Dean. Okay. I like his confidence.
Starting point is 00:19:24 I like his everything. There's. So Dean and Rachel after he entered that he said he loves going to the beach and that's why he moved to California. So he wanted to build a sand castle with her. Cute, I guess. I think it's a really good sign if you get like a prop and you're like sit down with Rachel.
Starting point is 00:19:41 Jojo, I remember with Nick or sorry with Ben like did something. And so did Vanessa. Like when you get like a special like. second something, not for your intro, but when you were like at the cocktail party, that's like a really good sign. That means like we're going to be getting a lot of you. So shout out to Dean for the Sandcastle. Really weird though.
Starting point is 00:20:00 He was like, I've never built a Sandcastle before. So that was just really strange. Yeah. Maybe he's got some messed up childhood we're going to find out about. Sure. Or maybe it's just like, don't admit that. If you're suggesting building a sandcastle, like pretend to be an expert or something. Obviously the producers made him do it.
Starting point is 00:20:20 Yes, I agree. But that was bizarre. Dean is 25, though. I don't think Rachel could be with a 25-year-old. Yeah, he's young. Also, I really, I really dislike his hair. It's like, he's got weird hair. A little too styled.
Starting point is 00:20:33 I don't know. He needs to mute, I think he needs to mute the stylist. But I agree with you. I think he's going far. He seems like he doesn't have a lot of self-awareness. I mean, if he did, he wouldn't say he wouldn't have had that opening line. And that's good for TV. Yeah, I didn't even catch that.
Starting point is 00:20:46 The lack of it. Well, he said that on like the after the final rose. Okay, that's probably why I don't remember. Yeah, exactly. I didn't go back and do my research. Yeah, no, I mean, for us, that was two and a half months ago. It was. It was a while ago.
Starting point is 00:20:57 Who cares? Mario. You think he's a sleeper? I don't know. I feel like he's right up front. Okay. So I was, I had a question about him, which was, um, who is the most promising? That's not a sleeper pick.
Starting point is 00:21:08 And, uh, I think DeMario, there's too much of a gap between who he actually is and who he's pretending to be. That's my reading on him. Because like, he speaks really well to Rachel when he's, he like has prepped his lines and like he speaks well to the camera when he's like you know like planning for it but then he's just also really annoying when he was like are you more into zinc or back shoe boys while that's a conversation i love to have like maybe for your your first conversation is rachel probably not that also like not sexy like well seriously i will talk about
Starting point is 00:21:39 that for hours and hours having just gone to see the backstree boys in las vegas a few weeks ago but that's just like not a sexy first conversation i agree with that that's like from you know from from your teenage years. Also, he seems like a troublemaker, which I like. Yeah, he's going to stir the pot. Yeah, for sure. Which means he'll be around for a long time. Yeah, he also says he talks so much. Like he gives good lines. I feel like they can't get rid of him. Yeah, he's a narrator. He might be the show narrator. DeMario. Yeah. You know how they have that one person that kind of narrates all the situations. Yeah, it tells you what's going on. Yeah. Yeah. I think, yeah, he'll definitely do a lot of that. I have some more sleepers, though. Okay. Let's talk about Peter,
Starting point is 00:22:16 who we like his blue jacket. He's one of my. I bolded people. Yeah. He seemed like among, among the best. Kind of normal. Yeah. He's from Wisconsin, focused on it a little bit too much.
Starting point is 00:22:27 Rachel went to law school at Marquette, which is why it's a thing. Okay. But like. And Nick. Yeah. And Nick is from Wisconsin. And they both have gap teeth.
Starting point is 00:22:34 And they both have gap teeth, which he brought up, which I also, I like. I love it. It looks a great look on both of them. It is. They both.
Starting point is 00:22:40 Peter might be the most handsome. Yeah. I mean, that's a matter of, that's a relative. Of taste. Who do you think is the most handsome? Uh, I like Brian, I think.
Starting point is 00:22:52 And wow. There's something, there's a sexy thing about him. I don't know, the Colombian slash dark hair, tall, big. Yeah, he has a nice frame. Cowractor. Sorry. You just like because he's a chiropractor. I got to keep going back to that.
Starting point is 00:23:07 Just like his hands. I don't think this is a very attractive cast in general. I don't either. I'm not a lot of like hot guys. But whatever. One other sleeper pick, and this is a real sleeper, because I don't know if he's really spoke in the intro or the first episode, was Anthony.
Starting point is 00:23:24 I bet you don't even know who Anthony is. No, I'm looking in my list and no, I have no idea. He was barely in the episode. Anthony, first of all, went to Northwestern where he played football, which was exciting for me. And second of all, he was a lot in this season on. He was not in this episode, like, at all, but I have a feeling we're going to get a lot more of him.
Starting point is 00:23:41 It seemed like he got some one-on-ones and some foreign places. I'm keeping my eye on Anthony. What was he wearing? I think he was wearing like a light colored suit, which is also a bad move. But he probably was like Los Angeles, warm, light color. I can forgive him for that. Okay. LA's a hard place to dress, don't you think?
Starting point is 00:23:59 I think it's, yes. Because I mean, my uniform is jeans and a blouse. Yeah. And like for guys, I can't. It's hard. Also hard for them, shoe-wise. Also, like, I don't know. Sox seem to be really out of vogue.
Starting point is 00:24:12 And I am against that. Please wear socks. Which I don't understand. But I can kind of get, if you're not from L.A. And you're like, what color suits should I bring? And you don't want to just wear, like, blue or gray. It's challenging. I really think they should help with the styling for these guys.
Starting point is 00:24:27 Sure. I mean, I guess because then it might be unrealistic. But what's realistic about a marching band? So I don't know. Like, maybe style them up and show her the best version of them. And then they can fall apart as the show goes on. Sure. It's true.
Starting point is 00:24:41 Like, night one, you should get, like, special roles. We're like, we help you. So them having to go out and buy suits and all. all that stuff. I know. People spend a lot of money. Like that one guy that cried when he, Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:24:51 He's like, I didn't even get to show my clothing. I believe his name was Clint. Is that it? Or Milton. Milton. Milton. Milton.
Starting point is 00:24:57 I knew there was an int in there. Yeah. Yeah, he was horrible. He was just like, he was purring. Oh, no. He was the grr. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:25:04 That's not okay. That is not. I like the way she handled that. That was like one of my favorite things. That was her best line of the night. It was. That was the best. That was like when she was like clearly a little
Starting point is 00:25:14 soft up, feeling herself. and she was just like, no. I believe the sequence. I'll give you a pass once. Pass on the first time. You know, the first time he did it, he got a pass. The second time I said, oh, no, this is his thing.
Starting point is 00:25:27 It's not mine. Okay. Next question. Josiah. A ton of screen time on Josiah. Yes. Frontrunner or low-key nightmare? Low-key nightmare.
Starting point is 00:25:38 I think so, too. Yeah. Yeah. He's like way, he's a dork. He's too aggressive. So Josiah is a prosecutor. also from Texas. I know he's from Florida.
Starting point is 00:25:48 Yeah. And he's really into Rachel. Yeah. Like really into her. He had the whole litigation sentence when he came in. Yeah. So I judge that. As I have three lawyers in my family.
Starting point is 00:25:59 And they don't really, like, they're not trial lawyers. But there's like a lot of like legal jargon out there. And Josiah tried to like go the legal jargon route for his intro. And it was like I could have said the same thing just from having watched like lawyer shows on TV. He was just like something about like, and like, you know, like objection or like best defense or something like that. And it was just stupid. It was just really.
Starting point is 00:26:23 He's like just. It was a fail. Yeah. He has a really sad story though. He saw his brother hung himself in his backyard and he had to like cut him down and that sent him on a bad path. And then he ended up going to like a juvenile like detention center and that turned his life around, which is really great. But it was just like Josiah, I just feel like is being presented to us and like a very like a
Starting point is 00:26:45 way, not on his part, but almost on the show's part, because he's like playing up his sob story while he's so irritating, though. Yeah, like he's, he's not humble. No, he's not humble. And he just seems like obsessed with her in like an uncomfortable way. Yeah, I agree with him. He got a lot of screen time. He's not, I think, I bet he's around to like week four or week five and then he's out.
Starting point is 00:27:06 I think, I don't know, though. She might, you think she could be into him? There's a lot of bad guys on the show. I know. Like, I, I would say that maybe. I just keep him around because he's at least someone that she's got to peer in some ways. That's true. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:27:21 Some common ground. That's a good point. I think when you're around, when you're in this mix with 31 dudes and so many of them suck or like are dumb or like don't have real jobs, you probably are like, which is almost everybody. I know, which is most of them.
Starting point is 00:27:33 You're probably so happy to talk to someone who has like things to discuss. Totally. And then it's not just like only trying to like fawn over you. I obviously, I'm sure it's great to like be complimented by 31 guys. all night, but it probably also just gets like uncomfortable. It was like, okay, thanks. Like, you're just saying that for the show. Yeah, it's awkward.
Starting point is 00:27:51 I imagine it's awkward. So awkward. Like, it makes, it probably just makes her feel like, I have to respond. Yeah. And how do you respond when somebody's like kind of coming on to you and you're grossed out by it? How also, like, how many times can you have like a gracious thank you? You're probably just like by the 15th.
Starting point is 00:28:08 You're like, okay, thanks. Let's move on. I think eventually I'd start becoming a bitch. Oh, my God. I wouldn't even take me to 15. Probably like number three. They have to cut those. moments out. They must. Definitely.
Starting point is 00:28:17 Right? I would love to see that, though. Like her just be like, nope, and just being really rude. That'd be hilarious. Outtakes. Yeah. Like, who Rachel really is is an outtake. I feel like there also needs to be, like, audience picks. You know how they have? Producer picks. Yeah, like, let us vote. Let's have an audience pick.
Starting point is 00:28:34 Like, maybe the first night, they roll out 31 people. Right. Right. And you see them all on stage. They all, like, have a quick something. Or we have vignettes of each person that's on the show. then the audience gets to vote or like yeah we get to vote and say we want this person to stay through the first episode no matter what right they should they should mix it up like the guys got to vote when they did the brit and katelyn thing the only the reason they can't do that is because like the production schedule because they film it two months in advance but it would be better if there were some kind of like way for the audience or could we vote someone off right
Starting point is 00:29:06 like rachel we overrule you cannot have this guy that would be great how could they do that's it really interesting i don't know know. I feel like somehow they need to make it more interactive. If they're going to go for all these gimmicks, some kind of format switch. Yeah. Just, yeah. Like the people speak. Give us a gimmick.
Starting point is 00:29:21 You get one for you, one for us. Exactly. Everyone deserves a little say. Like Survivor mixes it up. All these different shows mix it up and they're not really mixing it up. I know. But you know what? They don't have to.
Starting point is 00:29:31 I read that of all the network shows from this past year, the only, the one like, you know, Fox, ABC, NBC, whatever, CBS. The only preexisting show to gain audience. is The Bachelor. Everything else declined, and The Bachelor went up during next season. I know. It's amazing. It's just, it's more popular than ever. So they don't need our stupid audience suggestions. And like, no one really cares that these people don't end up with each other anyway. Totally. There's so many things that, like, we don't care about. Like, this, I mean, this season will be interesting. I think the race stuff is going to be complicated and tricky and often uncomfortable,
Starting point is 00:30:05 maybe offensive. It'll be interesting to see how it plays out and, like, how people accept it. But, I mean, as someone who considers herself, like, socially aware and, like, semi-wit, woke, I've been like just looking the other way for X number of years. You know what I mean? Yeah. There's like a whole like fantasy that people indulge in with the show like regardless of how ridiculous it is. It's like a soap opera. Totally. A reality soap opera. Totally. And also like I mean I like obsessed over these dudes. I, you know, I like freaking. No, you do. I do too. Like I live vicariously through her and figure out like who I'd pick and what I do in that situation. It's, you know, totally. I know. Okay. Next question. Yeah. Assuming a prop is a must.
Starting point is 00:30:43 what is the best thing that you can do in your intro and what would you bring? We can run down some of the options and then decide at the end. Assuming a prop is a must. Like you have to do like the penguin suit or the marching band. If I were the guy that did the marching, what's his name? Blake. I hate him. I would have brought in.
Starting point is 00:31:01 I would have like had them bring in a flatbed with me playing drums and just a drum solo or something. Oh, that's a good call. That's sexy. Yeah, because he's like, do a drum solo. Yeah. Like a cool jazz man. or like a hip hop song where she can dance knowing that she's into the music, you know, or something where it's like a little bit cooler than marching band.
Starting point is 00:31:22 Yeah. Because he, well, this is the thing about Blake. He's not cool. I actually hate Blake. I hate him too. Blake is the one I hate the most. He's, first of all, he's like obsessed with sex. Like he was just talking about.
Starting point is 00:31:31 His penis. Yeah. He's talking about his penis. Like he just, he sucks. I can't, I cannot stand him. Yeah. And he, I don't like his face. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:31:38 He also got really mad at the Wabboom guy. He seems overly sensitive. Yeah. And he probably has, like, has something, like, fundamentally wrong with him that makes him the way that he is. Yeah, no, he, I think he is absolutely going to have an explosion on the show. He's going to, he's a good, he's a good one to keep on, though. Totally. Keep him around for a while.
Starting point is 00:31:57 So Blake came with the marching band. Then there was Lee who came with the guitar. He's a country guy. And he was, like, singing. Oh, I hate him, too. I hate him, too. I mean, I'm not really into country, so maybe that's part of it. But anybody that.
Starting point is 00:32:07 Country can be pretty hot. That twangy kind of country where you like that? Are you familiar or Sam Hunt, the singer? He has a song right now called Body Like a Backroad. Okay, no. He was, that's a good name. He was also on the Kansas City Chiefs Practice Squad. He's like the hottest guy in country music.
Starting point is 00:32:25 And he is very hot. I also think Blake Shelton's pretty handsome. Yeah, he is. Yeah. I'm just like, it's possible. But not this guy. No, this guy sucks. This guy has like got that.
Starting point is 00:32:34 And weirdly, over the top voice. He's going to become the villain. He becomes like a potter. And you see Rick. Rachel confront one guy and she's like, Lee said that you're not here for the right reasons. So he becomes like the dick of the show. So I assume he's just trying to like get his country music growing. Yes, for sure.
Starting point is 00:32:52 I can't. I can't get one more awful song in before he gets knocked out. Yeah. So Blake had the marching band. Lee brought the guitar. Alex, who I don't know anything about him, but he came with a vacuum and then was like dancing around. I kind of thought that was funny.
Starting point is 00:33:05 Well, it was funny. But then he kept doing it. He kept doing it. Right. He came in with a vacuum because on Rachel. when we first met her on next season, she was like dancing around her home with the vacuum, which was cute.
Starting point is 00:33:17 And so he did that. But then he kept like walking through the shot once they were at the cocktail party with the vacuum still. That's right. I'm like, dude, give it out. It was kind of fun. And here he comes, like dancing around as she's having a moment with somebody.
Starting point is 00:33:29 I think that I might want to prop if I were, if I were one of these people. Because like, otherwise, what do you like do with your hands? You get out of the limo? It's so awkward. Like I'm definitely like a semi-awkward first hugger. Do you go up? Do you go hi?
Starting point is 00:33:41 Like, I don't know. I just feel like I would be, I would be awkward. I am awkward. So I would want some kind of, like, talking point. Like a rolling out of red carpet from the car to her or something. I don't know. Yeah, like something just like weird or something like that. Yeah, I wouldn't be good with any of the buff.
Starting point is 00:33:59 Me neither. Milton, the man who purrs and got voted off, he brought a Polaroid camera. I don't think. That's a weird tone. The selfie was cute, though. Yeah. Like doing the stuff. But then I can't even do that.
Starting point is 00:34:11 Can you? No. It's like a motion with your tongue that I can't do. Adam brought the doll, Adam Jr. That was incredibly creepy. What the F? I don't know. What was he thinking?
Starting point is 00:34:24 No, but like then he sat at places and he, was he speaking in French or something? They had like the doll pretending to be speaking in French. It was really weird. It wasn't even like a ventriloquism situation. Yeah. He had no talent. So it was like he wasn't showcasing. a talent of any sort.
Starting point is 00:34:42 He was showcasing like his doll. It also looked like, is this doll, like does this doll really travel with him is the question too? We can't rule it out. Since college, like was he at a frat party and this became the doll? And then it went on with him through life. Yeah, I don't know. He can't go anywhere without the doll.
Starting point is 00:34:58 We can't rule it out. We don't know. It did kind of look like he had just drawn the face on the doll recently though. Okay. It wasn't like a high. It was a high quality doll. At least spend some money on it. Put some dollars into your prop.
Starting point is 00:35:11 And then he kept carrying it around. It was just really weird. Really weird. It reminded me of that Ryan Gosling movie, Lars and the Real Girl, where he carries around the inflatable girl. Have you ever seen that? I haven't seen that. Well, Ryan Gosling plays a weird dude in that.
Starting point is 00:35:27 And then finally there was Matt who came in the penguin suit. Yeah. Was he doing that to hide the fat fit that he was losing his hair? Maybe. What was the idea? I don't know. Like it did have a hat. it was kind of perfect.
Starting point is 00:35:42 Apparently she's a thing for penguins. I don't know. It was weird. Yeah. Was there a reason? Like he wasn't, he doesn't have a penguin love? She doesn't have penguin love?
Starting point is 00:35:50 She likes penguins. She does? Apparently. I didn't know that or I had forgotten it. Okay. It was weird. Matt goes far because he's on this season on. I don't,
Starting point is 00:35:57 which is kind of weird. Okay, if you have to choose between marching band guitar, vacuum, vacuum, polaroid, doll, or penguin suit, which should you go for? I go vacuum. Yeah. I think vacuum also. It was funny.
Starting point is 00:36:10 That was the only one where, Yeah. It's also like weird, but there's like a tie-in. I don't know. I've just talked myself into having a prop. I usually don't want to have a prop. No. But for some reason, I'm like, no into it.
Starting point is 00:36:20 Like, yeah, that sounds great. Because it is just like awkward. You know what happened if I was on the show? I would fall. I would stumble getting out of the limo. Like, I 100% know that would happen. I once went whitewater rafting when I was 13 and I like fell into the river before getting into the boat, like right at the very beginning.
Starting point is 00:36:36 Like, that's the kind of thing that would happen to me. So I'm positive that I would need something to like. steady me and I'd be so nervous. I just can't even imagine. Yeah, I think I would just, it would be all about eye contact. I would open the limit. You wouldn't need a prop. I'd like, on the prize, walk up. I've walked into a party before. You don't need a prop. I know you don't. You just like, you just go for it. Just smile. Yeah. I'd smile my way through and keep walking. I wouldn't say much. I think not saying much in kind of being yourself is key. Totally. And what the prop just means that I'm not good enough without this piece of equipment to make me more interesting.
Starting point is 00:37:13 I don't know. I feel like the prop kind of takes away from who you are. It's true. I don't know. That is a good point. It also just gives you like a weird label instead of like her trying to figure out who you are. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:37:24 Only issue is not saying much is that you then risk her not knowing who she is among the 31 people, 31 guys. But then I don't know if I'd want to be remembered if she doesn't remember me. Right. I don't know. Like you just want to believe in the strength of your own first impression. Exactly. I like that.
Starting point is 00:37:40 It's very confident. And like eye contact and, you know. Sure. And like you want her, like you know it's all physical. Oh, yeah, of course. I mean, all you care about. What else do you have the judge on? Nothing.
Starting point is 00:37:49 And there's like 31. I mean, other than the prop. Also, like that is real. I mean, how many people, you know, like that is a real thing. We're like, oh, I'm really attracted to this person. I'm going to talk to them. So there's nothing wrong with that. Like her, that's why the Brian thing like seems natural because she was like obviously
Starting point is 00:38:03 into him right away. Yeah. When we went to Juan Pablo's first night, we saw him with Andy. and he was very into her right away. It was clear. You can kind of tell. You can see it when there's like a connection. And it was,
Starting point is 00:38:14 it was obvious. It was obvious. Okay. A couple more dudes. Just tell me creepy or sweet. Fred, the younger man with the yearbook, who he was in third grade and she was in eighth grade.
Starting point is 00:38:25 At first I was excited. And then I found out there was that huge age gap in that she was his counselor and that's a no-no. Yeah. You don't mess with the babysitter. The babysitter doesn't mess with the baby. Hard to get her. that. No. And also like third grade to eighth grade is like a weird time. Yeah. As you,
Starting point is 00:38:42 you know, if you're like 55 and 60, you don't have to make him a difference. But that's like the foundation of how you know each other. It's a weird framework. And also he just seemed lame. I thought he seemed like really, really lame. Yeah, he's, there's nothing about him that's interesting. No. Jonathan the tickle monster. Creepy or sweet? Totally creepy. That was weird. That was weird. That was weird. Don't touch me either. Don't tell me to close my eyes and then touch me. I don't want to be touched when I don't even know you yet. That's a little like too close to sexual assault.
Starting point is 00:39:14 Yeah. Not okay. Not okay. Also, you know he's not making it far because his job was tickle monster. If you get a novelty job, you can't be taken seriously. And then you're just out. I mean, there's no way. There was just so many other guys that I'm just like, were you even on this show?
Starting point is 00:39:32 What happened to Michael the NBA? Isn't there? Michael? An NBA player, Michael. Oh, yeah. a former professional basketball player. I don't know. Maybe he was a guy that didn't do anything. I don't think we got, we got like very little Michael.
Starting point is 00:39:44 Yeah. Is he even selling the show? I can't remember. No, he's on. I think he's gone, right? Yeah. Yeah. But I'm like, that was surprising to me because I don't know.
Starting point is 00:39:52 I think he said he played in Europe or something like that. Okay. But yeah, we got like very little Michael. It's just, I think she likes confidence. Yeah, she does. And she definitely does. She's going for all the guys that either had a prop or had confidence. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:40:05 What about the firefighter? The firefighter. He kind of looked like Brian. He looked like, and Jack Stone. Yeah. Jack Stone. I'm intrigued about Jack's Jackstone because if you're a two-man, a two-name man on the show, like that has to mean something.
Starting point is 00:40:22 And Jack Stone's a really good name. Yeah. And he's got a story. You know, he's going to bring up his mom past. Yeah. You know, he's got something going on. Yeah. All of the sad stories.
Starting point is 00:40:32 Oh, man. Sad stories. Do you remember Jamie? Jamie looked very much like Robbie from. Jojo season. Oh, yeah. Couldn't shake it. Also, Jamie with a Y.
Starting point is 00:40:41 Mm-hmm. Judge you for that. Not your fault necessarily, but just not into it. Yeah, I agree with you. I can't, I can't get down with that. What about Dibby? Diggy. Diggy.
Starting point is 00:40:49 Diggy had great glasses. That's my number one thing about Diggie. And I like a guy named Diggie. Totally. Is it a childhood name that he just leans into. Yeah. And you want to hang out with Diggie. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:40:58 I'd want him on the wing, making people laugh. I'm afraid that Diggies going to get upstage by Josiah. They were introduced to, like, write one than the other. Yeah. And I just feel like Diggy is just going to, for some reason, I feel like because of the way they were introduced, I think that we're going to, there can only be one between Diggy and Josiah. And Josiah just demands that it's him. Eric had a good intro. He was like kind of like just like one of the generic guys.
Starting point is 00:41:24 Oh yeah. He was wearing like a tan suit. Yeah. But then there's a lot of him in the pre-go. He's the dancer. He's the one that did the- Yeah, I dance with her. Exactly. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:41:32 But what about, what about Kenny? Kenny, the wrestler. Kenny the wrestler. You had a great note about Kenny who has a 10-year-old daughter, which is that would be Rachel's like marrying into having a teenage daughter like very soon. And that's a lot to deal with. Yeah, that would be bad. Kenny, we see him bleeding and this week on or this year on.
Starting point is 00:41:52 I thought that was fake blood. You thought that was real? I did. I really thought it was real. I watched it again. I can't tell. I don't know. It was just like very tight on his bloody eye.
Starting point is 00:42:01 There's definitely somebody that has a girlfriend that came up, right? Yeah, there's a girlfriend. Is that Kenny? No. I don't think that's Kenny. No. I don't know who it is, but not him. Well, he, Kenny has an unfair advantage.
Starting point is 00:42:13 She's been on TV before. He was like, he's a wrestler, so he's comfortable. Yeah. He's a performer. That's a huge. He's a good looking guy. I mean, no, he's not in your book. He's not my style.
Starting point is 00:42:22 Not your style. I don't think he's her style regardless. I think DeMario is the most, like, objectively handsome. Yeah. Could be a model. Executive recruiter. DeMario. I'm certain he works at CIA.
Starting point is 00:42:34 executive recruiter from Century City. There's only really one place that you would be at an executive recruiter there, and that's a CA. Okay. Like Century City was built for CIA, basically. That's just my guess, but I stand by it. I'm really disappointed that Grant, the doctor is gone. I mean, how do you get rid of a doctor? On night one?
Starting point is 00:42:52 There was no connection, though, probably, right? For her. I mean, he probably sucked. He didn't seem like he was tall enough. She likes tall. She does like tall. Yeah. She's got a type.
Starting point is 00:43:02 She stays on brand. She stays on brand. It's true. I'm excited about this season. I think that it's going to come down to based on that, Matt, Brian, and Peter. And maybe Alex. Those four basically look identical. What's Matt?
Starting point is 00:43:16 Which one's Matt? Matt was the penguin guy. Really? But I think he's going to go far. Okay. Those four basically all look the same. Matt, Brian, and Peter. And so I wouldn't be surprised.
Starting point is 00:43:26 I have Peter, Brian, DeMario, and Dean. Ooh, Dean. My final four, Matt, Brian. Peter and Anthony. Those are my four for her. Okay. That's my guess. Carrie, thanks for coming today.
