Starting point is 00:00:05 I'm all about a good practical Amazon haul. So today I'm going to share nine Amazon purchases from the last year that I actually loved so much and one that was a total miss. Be sure to stick around to the end and like and subscribe and share this episode with a friend. All right, first and foremost is my Kindle. I did. I went down the Kindle pathway with all the Kindle users and all the Kindle accessories.
Starting point is 00:00:29 And it's a whole world that I've joined, I feel like. But it was, it's a good world. I'm not going to lie. I love to read. I read many books throughout the month. Like I just, I love to read. And so normally I wanted an actual book. Like there's something about holding a book. But then as I would travel and have to carry books and pack books and stuff, everyone's like, get a Kendall, get a Kendall. For years, they said that. And I'm like, no, I need it. I want an actual book. But I did it. And I got the paper white, Kendall, and let me tell you, it's fantastic. It's amazing. I keep it in my purse. I think I read more. I think I read faster on it, which sounds weird.
Starting point is 00:01:04 but zero regrets I can confidently say if you are a book person and you're like I need an actual physical book I'm telling you especially for fiction go the kindle route it's worth it all right number two is a steel birdse container Winston ordered this one and this thing is pretty serious it has a locks lid because well Winston I'll rope myself in there a little bit it's more helm he loves bird feeders he loves bird feeders he loves having, he has sperm meters, like three of them in our yard. And he knows the name of every bird, every tree. He's like a nature guy. He knows like all this information. Anyways, these squirrels kept getting into our bird seed. And so they'd spill everywhere, be everywhere. So Winston got a,
Starting point is 00:01:53 yeah, one of these like locked lids. And it was great, but great Amazon purchase for us in 2025. Number three was all of our school backpacks. The three kids going back to school. And we, yeah, bought their backpacks on Amazon, which was great, instead of having to, like, fight the back-to-school shopping and all of it. There were so many options. You read the reviews. And we even, like, found the same brand of Amelia's from last year that she loved and, like, shopped on that same store on Amazon, and it was wonderful.
Starting point is 00:02:24 So some back-to-school shopping with Amazon. Love it. Number four is my handheld steamer. This thing is amazing. I travel with it because it's actually. pretty compact, like, when you take, like, the lid off and stuff. And I hate to iron. Ironing is, like, I hate it. I don't even know. Do people still iron? I just feel like everyone steams stuff now. So I am a steamer for life, and I love it. It gets really hot, which is great.
Starting point is 00:02:49 And it doesn't do, like, sometimes, like, some steamers, like, it shoots the water, like spews water every now and then. Then it gets all in your clothes. This one doesn't. But it's wonderful. Number five, a beech hat. Yes. We love our sun protection. Keep the sun out of the face. And this style for sure as like a classic millennial mid-30s person is buying it. That's why I bought it. I like it. And I don't like to buy expensive beach hats because if I pack them, sometimes they kind of get messed up and I don't want to like carry it on the plane. I'm definitely not going to be buying a hat box. I feel like I've seen people with that where they put them. I'm like no, no, no, no. I need a cheap one. Maybe it lasts me two years. That's great. But this one worked.
Starting point is 00:03:27 It was perfect for the year and I loved it. Number six, the silicone crock pot divider. You guys, this has changed our life. Winston cannot eat red meat anymore because he has Afigal and he was diagnosed with that last year. And so now all of like, whether it's chilies or spaghetti sauce or like different things that I'm like, I still like to have ground beef in some of my stuff. And the kids do too. So these crock pot dividers were amazing. So I can do like chicken meatballs and sauce and one end of it. And the other ends, I mean the kids can have like, I don't know, our red meat, which is wonderful. or if you're cooking something and you need something that's gluten-free and something that's not, two different dips even.
Starting point is 00:04:07 Like if you're like, oh, yeah, let's make a dip here and it's in the crock pot. They are wonderful, y'all. I literally was like, I wish that my crock pot had a divider. And I went on Amazon and just searched it to be like, I wonder if it's out there. And it is. And we bought it. And it's amazing. All right, before I share the rest of my list, including the purchase that was a total bust.
Starting point is 00:04:25 I do want to tell you about one of our sponsors, delete me. So holiday promos are amazing. and with every newsletter sign up and coupon code, though, you're giving way your data. Starting point is 00:05:00 Rachel at checkout. So do it today. That's join delete me.com slash Rachel code Rachel. And next was Amelia's lunchbox. Okay, so this came from Amazon. And y'all, it was so cute. And so she carries like kind of a lot in her lunchbox. She like put a bunch of different stuff in it. So I needed something that was bigger than just like your standard flat lunchbox. And it was wonderful and adorable and like good quality too. I was like, yeah, this is awesome. So that was a great purchase. Number eight was a. A car window glass breaker. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:05:33 Do you get sucked into social media products that are so scary that help, you know, from like the choking thing? I bought that. This, I went down a video rabbit trail of people driving off bridges and they are immersed in water and they can't get out. And I thought, oh, dear God, new fear unlocked. Like, what is happening? And this little gadget you put it and you do this and it shatters your window and you can swim out and you can stay alive. And I said, give me six. So I ordered.
Starting point is 00:06:03 I tell them of them. And I'm like, yeah, I don't even have that many cars for as many as I bought. But I was like, just in case they were here. I don't know. I got sucked in. They got me. I don't even know if it works. I pray I never have to use it.
Starting point is 00:06:15 But it just feels good. Oh, and it has a seatbelt cutter too. Like a blade. Again, who knows if the thing works. But it gives me peace of mind. So I bought a bunch. Number nine, a suitcase. Yes.
Starting point is 00:06:28 Okay. This is one. I had the same suitcase for probably 10 years. And it was fine, but I was like, I really just want a hard shell, one that is a carry-on that I'm not going to pay an insane price for. I don't know. I just don't like to pay for like stuff that's, I don't know. There's just something about it that I'm like, I don't want to be, like, have the nicest thing.
Starting point is 00:06:49 But I do want something that's going to last at least a couple of years. And, yeah, I found a Samsonite suitcase on Amazon. And I said, purchased. And then we ended up buying like two more. because now our kids, when they travel with us, they can have a carry-on, obviously, because they have a ticket, like, if we're flying. So I'm like, perfect. Let's just, let's do that. It's wonderful. All right. Now, here's the item that I had high hopes for, and sadly, I only used twice a walking pad. God bless. You know, you have, like, really good intentions.
Starting point is 00:07:20 You know, like, listen, I'm going to get basically a little treadmill, and I'm going to walk and listen to a book or read a book or watch TV and get my steps in for 2025. and no, it didn't happen. Didn't happen. I used it twice and it was great, but I never used it again. And it's so sneaky because it can like slide under your couch. So yeah, so slid it under there. You never see it.
Starting point is 00:07:43 Out of sight, out of mind. Man, it was expensive too. It was one of the more expensive ones on this list. It's really nice, but I just never use it. Okay, one thing that I definitely, though, use all the time, unlike my walking pad, is every dollar. So this budgeting app is new and improved because it's going to go through your entire financial plan. And if you want to spend money with things like on this list, it's so much more fun to spend money knowing that you have the money and that you planned for it.
