Starting point is 00:00:05 I recently asked people to drop a comment on Instagram with one of their most unhinged ways that they earned extra money. So here's what people said. Okay, so here's the reel I was talking about because honestly I love to kind of drop these on social just to be like, hey, where's everyone at? Like, what's everyone's stories? So here's the real. Okay, you guys, the comments did not disappoint.

Starting point is 00:00:39 They were wonderful. I scrolled through them all, and I was like eating popcorn doing it because it was so entertaining. Okay, so I pulled out a couple that thought were great, and some of these were comments that people did when they were kids, but it kind of gave me ideas even for my own kids. Where I was like, oh, that's a good idea, even into adulthood. But y'all are too good. So here it is. Number one, when I was 12, I ordered a truck of Krispy Cream donuts delivered to my house and sold them to my neighborhood as a a fundraiser only it was just to me. And I made over $400 that day. It's a great lemonade stand

Starting point is 00:01:17 idea. Okay, number two, when I was 10, my parents paid me $100 to go off candy for a year. Oh my gosh. So no candy eating for $100. I'm like trying to think if I would pay my kids to do that. I don't know, but that's funny. Number three, I worked with my dad to tear off roof shingles. I did four. and one summer, and it paid for two years of college. Holy crap. Okay, so that reminds me, though, seriously, when it comes to manual labor, how much people will pay to get stuff done at their house? So if you are looking for a side hustle or you're thinking of something, this is, like, the best thing to do. Like, if there is something maintenance you can do, I mean like this, pulling off, you know, shingles off of a roof. Incredible. So finding that, it's a great,

All right, number four, I babysat for one family from four, until they needed to get to school at 8 a.m., dropped them off, went to babysit from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. for another family. Oh, yeah, that's good. Just, you're blocking. Blocking your time. Getting the double the shift. Number five, picked up nails and screws on my parents' building project when I was seven for one cent each. By the end of the summer, I made $110. Look at you. That's actually a lot. I was thinking, I was doing math in my head quickly. I was like, wait, a dollar. That's only $100.10 thing. She picked up. Oh, no, no, no, no. more than that. Number six, flipped washers and dryers off Craigslist. Okay, that's impressive. Talk about handiwork. You got to know what you're doing there. I feel like I've always heard

Starting point is 00:02:51 furniture or clothes or something, but good for you. Number seven, my husband and I had a work from home gig of putting rubbery fishing lure worms into retail packaging for a company. It was rough, and years later, if things got a little tight, we count our blessings at least we weren't having to bag worms. I love it. Starting point is 00:04:42 My gosh. I think that's like everyone's worst nightmare. I'm being attacked by a dog. I'm like, no, thank you. Doing it for extra money, though. Good for you. Good for you. Number nine, shopped for alcohol underage as an undercover shopper and helped bust several

Starting point is 00:04:56 gas stations, you know? Just some extra cash in your pocket. Good for you. You know, probably some good stories out of that one. Number 10, research study in college had to sleep overnight at some place, and they rubbed medicine cream on your forearms. Oh my gosh. I don't even want to know. I feel like it's like giving plasma.

Starting point is 00:05:18 I feel like that's what everyone did in college. Number 11, mowed a local cemetery for a summer. Oh, my gosh. I hope no weird spirits followed you out of there. Oh, my gosh, you guys. It's so, I think it's so fascinating. Number one, how people just like make extra money. but also the creative lens.

Starting point is 00:05:35 Like usually the more creative you can get, the more niche thing you can find, the more money you're going to make. So always remember that.
