You have to like cat noise.
Ladies and gentlemen, for listening to us on Apple and Spotify, we just watched a super boring film.
You have tissues over there.
Give me.
No.
No.
I like when women cry.
Idiot.
Oh, my God.
It's so stupid.
Oh, my God.
Terror is crying because she didn't get good pizza.
Once that happened, she came an emotional wreck.
I became undone.
I can't handle this.
This whole movie, she's wanted warm pizza.
Get shitty pizza.
basic cheese
not even pineapple
with no garlic butter
no ranch marinerous sauce
a terrible way to go
not even a Pepsi
I never drink I haven't had a Pepsi
it sounds like 10 years old I'm like
also Pepsi no everybody drinks Coke
yeah Coke is the number one brand
anyway
Tara that's someone who clearly
doesn't remember the quiet place movies.
Holy crap.
What did you think of right?
I explained it to her on the phone.
Like, yeah, it's a quiet place.
It's like the prequels.
And she's like, I think I saw one of them.
I know that I saw probably the first one.
And I don't like, I don't remember.
Clearly.
Yeah.
Long COVID-Eft me up, y'all.
This movie was fantastic.
From the beginning.
beginning to the very end, it keeps you on the edge of your seat.
They get into action right away.
Her relationship with the guy in the beginning, the nurse guy, was great.
I felt their chemistry.
And then Eric comes along.
You feel their chemistry.
Like, they're casting and who they had in this as actors who actually said words out loud.
You believe everything, but also you believe them even when they're not talking.
You can feel the chemistry.
And that's so important in a film.
Because if we didn't feel it, it wouldn't make it as good.
Oh, my God.
And the cat, man.
The cat is, like, so great.
It's just like in John Wick, in the one with Halle Berry, where they have the dogs, it's like such, it's so, yeah.
But this one, they have a cat.
And, like, we don't get to see many movies with cats that are in it, where it's like, oh, and it just killed me that she, you know, obviously wants her cat to have a long, great life.
and she sends him off and the way that this ended was poetry that was poetry that was beautiful it was a
beautiful beautiful movie it was so great like the first i know you don't remember them i barely remember
them i remember like the beginning and end of each of them because it's all there is to really
remember when you've only seen them one time yeah but i do recall them because they're more in the
like i think they're like midwest territory so they're more
woodsy kind of films.
And so they're like it's called Quiet Place and it does embody more of that quiet
woodsy nature atmosphere and it's smaller cast and everything.
And so it's a very different vibe than this one where this is, you know, big city scale.
It's called Quiet Place Day 1 with this.
It feels like takes over like what, three days, three or four days, something like that?
Yeah, seems like it.
Takes over a few day span and I think it's a good step to like.
like, okay, we're going to focus on a new character.
We're going to go to a bigger terrain.
It's going to be a little bit more roller coaster.
But in the last half, I was like, you know, they really, you could tell, like, in terms of writing, they, I forgot the director's day, but he, he really cares about the characters.
Yeah.
I was thinking that in like the last 30, 30 minutes when it's all about getting her the medicine, getting her to have the pizza, the jazz experience, and giving her a great memory a way to say goodbye.
yeah and find joy again after feeling so bitter towards her last days i thought was so beautiful
and character driven and was main like they can barely speak in this movie right due to the
circumstances totally so it's all just mainly visual uh whether that be through like the body
language of their performances which are both great from josephwin and the pita nongo they were both
excellent and i did like the big stakes horror i don't know where i rank this because i barely
or the other two because yeah like I did I did kind of want that there's only one thing I wanted
from the movie that I don't feel like they they really gave us was I wanted to see a little bit
more of the the panic when destruction is happening and then people trying to figure out like how do we
how do we yeah you know how do we dodge them or in some of the word so they have to figure out
how to be quiet yeah and I wish that was like the one like you do get a brief moment with the
helicopter zipping by and it's like going in and out like don't make sounds or something i don't know
what they say right um but i feel like there was a missed opportunity for so for a really great
um tension moment and on like high body count whatever right but other than that little skip over
the adventure was solid and i i was really enthralled by the i think the visual effects were
amazing they were awesome the thing that i don't remember from the first one even i don't remember
much. I do remember a truck. John Krasinski and his wife, okay? Something to do with a truck
and a kid dies, maybe. I don't know. But what I will tell you is that I don't believe that they
showed us the actual fucking stranger things, creatures. Like with the mouth and they did? With the mouth
that looked like it. They did? Oh my gosh. Because in this one, it reminded me so much of alien
close-up shots. Like when it lit up and it opens its mouth, it's insanely scary.
There was a lot of jump scares in this that, like, I was like, I'm going to have a heart attack.
You definitely get more here because there's a bigger quantity of them.
And, like, this is, like, much more of a, you know, adventure, blockbuster, big stakes, alien invasion.
Yeah.
But, you know, it's still toned down.
It's not like military is coming in and fucking guns blazing and shit.
It's still, like, a little bit more toned down than your average sci-fi.
It's not like War of the Worlds, you know, or Independence Day on that scale.
my god yeah it's it still feels like appropriately contained for what this franchise is famous for
which is you got to keep your mouth shut in the midst of chaos yeah and i thought they did a pretty
i think they did a really good job with it yeah the monsters were effectively scary they were
that was wild the way they move and like when you would see them on the building that was awesome
there was one super dope master shot from up above when they were
were all crawling up the buildings and that was that just gave us a real sense of the environment
and I really like they didn't use a ton of those we didn't need it we needed that one that
looked terrifying yeah and that was it they and then they they played with our emotions and
revealing them and that was that was great how they did it I remember in the last one
in the first movie there was this big thing that people debated about which was I'm sorry I just
don't know something he's just deciding to dust right now
Dusty?
Do you notice how dusty?
This thing is insanely dusty.
Holy crap.
You need wipes.
I know.
That is a really dusty soundboard.
Oh, my God.
This is not good.
It's bad.
It's not good.
It's bad.
In the first movie, there's like this big waterfall where they can get near and then they
can make a lot of noises if they want to.
And everyone's like, why don't they move near the waterfall?
Oh, right.
And they never moved near the waterfall.
Yeah.
They're like, why don't they move near the waterfall?
Yeah.
I would just live under the waterfall.
fall like those two kids had the right idea living in the fountain there and you know based off of
the rules of what the especially the first movies established you just it's easy to put for some
reason because of the kind of movies those are especially the first one it's easier to poke holes in
the logic of like what if you fart like how much you know there's like so there's no totally it's
impossible like this is the most impossible situation like it seems like you you step on a leaf a little
too hard. You're going to get attacked. So how the hell do you possibly survive? But for some
reason in this, because it feels more blockbuster level, I feel like they're able to get away a little
bit more with the suspension of disbelief in certain scenes. Yeah. Like what he's like crawling in the
and the freaking cat like when they're like on the harvest. Right. Yeah. And then it's like it cuts to
and he's just back and giving him the medicine. He's just back. He's just back. He got away.
Yeah. Yeah. Like yeah. We didn't need to really see his whole.
process and getting back, although I don't, I don't know how entertaining it would have been because
it's like, well, how does he get out of it? Do they feast? Does he slowly climb down the thing with
the cat and then tiptoe out? I mean, I do have questions. How did he get out of that? Yeah, I think
that way, but you're, you're right about that because like that would, that was a tough situation
for his character to get out of. And I am curious how he did it, but I assume the same way he got up
there. He went down that way and tiptoed out of there. Yeah. I'm
surprise that creature didn't pick up on him at all.
Yeah.
Reject Nation, as a business owner, I'm actually terrible at tracking finances, believe it or not.
It's something I work on a lot because I can be forgetful.
I can have terrible oversight when it comes to tracking things.
I'm sure you can understand the immense hatred that comes with the feeling of forgetting
to pay for something or the feeling of consistently paying for something you forget to cancel
or something that you just simply haven't thought about a while, so you keep paying for it,
which is the same thing as what I just said.
Anyway, that's why I started using Rocket Money about a year and a half ago.
And that's today's sponsor.
And it's always cool to be partnered up with a product that you've already been using
before you started doing a sponsorship with them because it makes it more natural.
But seriously, Rocket Money has taken care of a lot of the thinking for me and has been a massive
lifesaver.
Rocket Money is a personal finance app that simplifies managing money by canceling
unnecessary subscriptions, lowering bills.
Rocket Money does the heavy lifting by analyzing your spending, then customizes
notifications to help you stay within your budget goals.
I was relieved to know that over 74% of people, not 75, but 74 specifically, forget about
subscriptions they do not use.
I was paying for things I don't even remember subscribing to.
Odds are with some free trial that I forgot to cancel.
But one of the best things about Rocket Money is it finds those things and makes it effortless
to cancel them.
What I really love about Rocket Money's organization, it keeps everything in one place.
Imagine seeing all your subscriptions with just a tap and being able to cancel the ones you don't
want.
It even compares your spending month to month
to it's been able to help me stay on track
with bettering my spending.
And one of the great benefits, too,
I can absolutely attest to this.
Rocket Money can also negotiate lower bills for you up to 20%.
With over 5 million users
and $500 million saved and cancel subscriptions,
it's helped people on average save up to $740 a year.
So stop wasting money on things you don't use like old Greg did.
Cancel your unwanted subscriptions by going to rocketmoney.com slash rejects.
Once again, that's rocketmoney.com.
Rejects help up your game and being financially responsible and reap the dang
benefits people but the cat man oh the cat was the best part I kept thinking he might
be dead I know that was I did not like when he ran off like I was like if they
kill a cat in this this movie's dead to me and I'm just so happy that he is safe
and purring it's insanely unrealistic the way the cat is I know like he's so quiet
And he's so chill.
He sees the crazy thing and he's just like, whatever.
Like, he just was chilling, staring at the stranger things creature.
But the movie has the moment where when Joseph Quinn, Eric, pops out of the water and he's making eye contact with the cat.
Yeah.
There's something almost spiritually angelic about the cat.
Yeah.
It just made me buy into how unrealistic it is.
Right.
Because you're like, okay, the movie.
doing something like fantastical about this cat i don't know exactly know what it is right but i'm going
to just accept all these ridiculous situations this cat is able to pull off right especially that he
found his mom after he found him oh yeah right he found him helped him and then guided him back to
to his mom yeah he was just like in the alley like waiting for her just always quiet like
yeah i know what your average cat is like and this cat does not this cat is like the definition of a
movie cat. Totally. And even more so, because you don't ever hear it me out. You just hear it per at one point.
Never a single meow. And I'm like, he had to be hungry. He only got one can of friskeys.
Come on now. This is the only cat in the entire movie. Clearly there's something special about this one cat.
Otherwise, this movie filled with cats being like, we got this shit handled. He's got to be quiet.
He was just a good cat, therapy cat. Good therapy cat. He can go under water. You put a cat on her water. You put a cat on
water cats like they're freaking out
they want to kill you
I can't believe how good he was
and then like when they obviously that was probably
CGI they're not taking the cat under the water
I don't think they're taking the cat of the water
but even him floating he did have
the cat personally in the water
when he was like floating unless that
was a CGI cat I don't think it was
it all looked practical the cat
seemed chill a F
yeah I'm sure there's someone in the comments
being like actually
I don't care how well
train of cat is you throw them in an environment this bombastic chaotic the amount of dunking in
tunnel water and river water that cat's going to be a little local yeah i agree with that like a hundred
percent yeah great cat but a great cat still the best part of the movie yeah undoubtedly still the best
part we got to make a t-shirt a froto t-shirt yeah froto lives which is what they said when froto
lived in return to the king yeah froto lives but it's a picture of the froto yeah yeah
Yeah.
This is great.
Would you guys buy that t-shirt?
Let us know.
Let us know.
Like how it was like an emotional core.
Like you were, I never heard you like whelped so much into the mic.
I know.
Like, I guess that's how we know I'm on different meds.
I need different meds so I can cry on camera.
But also, that just really got me.
You know, I, in her giving him,
her sweater and then sacrificing herself
right after she gives her cat away.
It was all just such a poetic ending.
And her calming him down
right before she knows
she's going to have to go and sacrifice herself
doing the alarms, sending him off with a cat
and then just seeing her cry
and you know that it's her crying
because she knows her cat's okay.
I cannot, you guys know me.
I'm like, you kill an animal in a film, you can F off.
I don't even care if it's a war film.
Those horses better not die.
I have a hard time.
And like, humans, I'm okay with.
It's fucked up.
But animals are 100% unconditional love.
And I just felt that, you know, her seeing that.
And, God, what a great ending of her saying that I'm happy to see that the city like sings again.
and she's you know on her last leg
even though she doesn't look like she's in a ton of pain
but we know she's dying and her just unplugging it
what a great what a great ending to the film
like that's a poem that she would write absolutely
she's choosing her time to go to exactly
talk about the second the hours in that poem too
I first met yeah down to the minutes down to
I forget what the last line of that was but
it is just everything
kind of just came to a head
in the end and all of her poems
kind of led us to that
ending. I love how they formed that
relationship between the two of them too.
That was one of the biggest surprises
of the movie to me because it's such an odd
relationship and it's not like romantic in the
slightest. It's just like
some type of kinship
forms over the survival situation.
Because it's like she saved him
multiple times from having these panic
attacks. He wouldn't have
and he was such a lost public.
dog when he was first following or he was like okay okay okay you know like he was just he was just
lost and you know she she had you know enough empathy and realization in that moment she had to help him
he wasn't going to go anywhere by himself but what led him to go somewhere by himself was to save her
because i think of the kinship that you were just saying they formed yeah it was beautiful that was a
great movie that was great that was great it's so good and we watched it in the
environment this movie was intended to be lights hearing each other in each other's ears the
entire time on a television screen there was one point where I was like what is that noise
and you were like it's me yeah and I was like what is what you were like I was going oh god yes
I thought it was the movie y'all and I was like who the what the Fs had to be quiet oh my god
They were making too much noise.
Idiot.
And I was hoping they could hear me.
Yeah.
It changed the outcome.
Trust us.
We all heard you and it was a terrible noise.
I hope the editors mute it.
No, man.
Blasted.
Blasted louder.
Anyway, guys, what did you think about a quiet place day one?
Where would you rank this?
You want a quiet place day 15?
See what New York has evolved into on that?
What happened to those kids?
What happened to them?
Yeah, did they survive?
They're on the boat.
They are.
They're on the boat.
No.
No, but we're on the boat.
Wasn't paying attention for them.
Yeah, they made it to the boat.
I thought they were going to get the cat in trouble,
so I was like, kill the kids.
Kill the kids, because the cat needs to live.
Absolutely.
No, not that sweet little girl.
She lives forever.
I know they're alive.
Adults, we had our time.
Probably the director's kids or something.
I need to read something for my children.
Anyway, guys, thank you, Tara, for joining me.
