With Alice in Borderland Season 3 dropping on Netflix on September 25th, Tara & Aaron are BACK for MORE deadly games as they give their Alice in Borderland Reaction, Recap, Commentary, Analysis & Series Movie Spoiler Review!! Tara Erickson & Aaron Alexander continue their journey through Netflix’s intense Japanese survival thriller Alice in Borderland with episodes 7 and 8. The series, based on Haro Aso’s manga, follows Arisu (Kento Yamazaki – Kingdom, Your Lie in April), a disillusioned young man who finds himself trapped in a deserted Tokyo where players must compete in deadly games to survive. Alongside him is Usagi (Tao Tsuchiya – Orange, Rurouni Kenshin: The Final), a fearless climber who becomes his closest ally. In episodes 7 and 8, the deadly “Witch Hunt” game inside the Beach resort escalates into chaos. With Niragi (Dori Sakurada – Let’s Go Jets!) turning violent and the group fracturing, Arisu must use his intellect to uncover the truth behind the witch’s identity. Mira Kano (Riisa Naka – Nodame Cantabile) steps further into the spotlight as one of the enigmatic leaders pulling the strings, while Chishiya (Nijirō Murakami – Still the Water) manipulates events from the shadows. These episodes deliver some of the most shocking twists of the season, including betrayals, explosive action sequences, and a brutal climax that changes the players’ understanding of the Borderland forever. With jaw-dropping visuals, relentless tension, and emotional revelations, episodes 7 and 8 set the stage for the thrilling conclusion of Season 1. Hope you two like the first season.
What was your favorite game of the first season?
and who's either your favorite
or most intriguing character so far?
Alice in Borderland,
his first time watching. Yeah, this is great.
I've really, really enjoyed the show,
probably one of the best shows I've seen this year.
I don't know, I look at horror so, man.
He's just come so far
from where we've seen him in that first episode
through where he is at the end of the season.
He's, you know, he's cunning.
he's brave he's someone who's you know gone through hell and back and he's still finding a reason to keep fighting because he wants to avenge his friends he wants to avenge all the people that have died and bring an end to this game and i think that's just awesome you know that's really impressive to bring a character from you know being perceived as like a slacker and like a a loser by his family to now being
the savior of, you know, the people of Tokyo.
It's just a crazy contrast to believably sell over the course of eight episodes.
And I think the show's done an amazing job of doing that.
What about you, Taryn?
I mean, I think the most intriguing character so far is a blonde guy, and I forget his name.
But he's there at the end, and he's like, and when she announces more games, and he's like,
I'm actually not mad about it.
I'm like, oh, my God, like this guy, he's very smart.
He also knows how to just hang back, lie back.
He's sort of figured out, I think maybe like the backdoor way to like the games where he doesn't have to like play hardcore when he just observes he gets more information.
Right.
And I like that.
I think it's really smart.
I'm glad he is still with our main characters because I always found him very intriguing from the top.
yeah um and my favorite game i think would be the i think because it was so savage and it took place in
the the plant nursery the botanical gardens would be the the wolf game right the fucking that i that i
that i pitched the mirror for oh man uh yeah it's a toughie favorite game they're
They're all pretty savage.
That one is definitely, I don't know, there's no winning that game.
No.
We technically win, but not really.
No, no.
So.
It's awful.
They're all awful.
Yeah, I think the one with the horses, I think that's probably my favorite game.
Because they actually could win that one, but you have to use teamwork to be able to beat the horse people.
But even they were playing a game.
So, you know, there's, there is no winning.
there was only surviving and you know I feel like the way that they were able to handle that
situation the way that they were able to solve for that situation to be able to find a I don't
even know if loophole is the right word but you know the thing about the games is their objective
in how you go about winning is not obvious so I feel like it takes really smart people to be
able to figure that out so yeah I would say that one I'll say the second one yeah I liked
that came a lot. That was the one that I thought
I could win. Are the other ones?
Hell no. Forget about it. Forget about it. The one with the doors, hell no.
Uh-uh. Nope.

Jay Rustin, thank you for
sending another question, dude, this
like went crazy, so
controls, wait, what?
Controllers.
This like went crazy, so controllers of the games
are killed off.
What card in the deck
would be your
call sign?
I don't know.
answer that um what my call sign that's tough queen of hearts sure um
aces spades okay yeah i don't know if we've seen what that means as of yet but i'm gonna go
with that one because likely it sounds you know it's funny like what you're saying jay
is that yeah it did it did absolutely go crazy where the controllers of the game did
get killed off where we realized they were all just sort of pawns as well like everyone is a pawn in
this bees game right i mean they still were getting delight out of uh helping her figure out the game
and putting people in in certain places and seeing them killed and like making bets over it which
is really gross but i assume in the way that they got there is the same way that the girls got there
right do your job and you won't die help us build these games yes people will die you're still alive
and then the girls had an even harder job because they're not behind the computer right they're like
well you have to go in pretend to be another person get people confused be like a spy which i would be
like yeah i'll take it over actually playing the freaking game because i know they're not going to laser me
if I work for him.
Mm-hmm.
Wild.
Well, I could do.
Yeah, man.
And we had one more from,
ooh, sorry.
Donica Costellano.
She was asking if this is our first time watch.
It is.
See.
Yes, yes, yes.
And we've had a blast watching it.
We're going to move on to season two pretty soon.
Mm-hmm.
Um, but this show, I think the main question that me and him have gotten multiple times
from everyone is he goes, is it better than squid game.
People are saying that like it's between and you know what I have answered truthfully?
I've said, yeah, I think so.
But squid game is still a brilliant show.
There are two different things.
I fell off a little bit in the new, the new squid game season.
this one just really drew me in
and it has a little bit more
what I want to say is like
heart built in
but Squid Game still had a lot of heart
once we got into it
I think it's really
that's a tough question and I'm sure
we'll continue to get asked
that because I love
Squid game loved it from the second
it came out but also
I love this show
yeah I think the
difference here and it's been a minute I've seen in Squid game I've rewatched the first episode which is an
amazing pilot but I think the one of the differences is is the desperation people will
put themselves through to acquire a prize and the way that they'll let money and the the
promise of money change them whereas this show is about how people adapt to circumstances for the
survival and how they let the unambiguous or the ambiguous nature of the circumstance they found
themselves in dictate their actions and what keeps them going in spite of not knowing where it leads
what keeps you surviving in the face of hell and I think that this show executes that
brilliantly and shows how all these different characters have changed in the face of that
from
our main character
to the dude with the tattoos
and the blades
and the girl
who he was fighting at the end
and she's an awesome character
and the fact of her mom
accepted her like on her deathbed
that was all beautiful
everyone's come such a long way
in this world
and even you know
was changing before the world
that kind of come into their lives
the way the best friendships
have been corrupted and were in a position for them to have to kill each other
or at least, you know, one friend is in the position where he believes he has to defend
himself and then that causes him to outwardly project all of his pain and cause all these other
people to kill because he now has an excuse to justify that because he feels like
his friend was corrupted. So I feel like watching all these people go through these changes
and transformations because they feel lost and they all they know how to do with survive
because all they've had is the experience of being a person in the world.
It's just a really fascinating character study coupled with the circumstances in which they're put in
because the games themselves are really creative.
Yeah, I agree.
The one similarity that they do share is that, you know, in Squid Game, they are going after money,
but if they don't play the game, they will die.
They will get shot and killed.
Yeah, they're finding for money in their lives, for sure.
And I like that similarity.
I mean, because, you know, within this, I guess once you get to the beach, the prize is really the cards,
but we didn't know really all of that until we got towards the end.
But, yeah, this one shows a little bit more of the grit of like, do you want to live or do you not?
Because if you don't, then we go back to the very first episode, how this opened up.
And he was like, I'm out of visas or like, it's my third day and he gets lasered immediately.
And I'm like, so there's always a way out, I think, in this.
Like, if you're done, you're done.
And it's kind of cool to see Orisu with his new friends and them realizing the strength he has in the game.
Even though all of this shit has happened, he did want to die.
He did.
And that girl brought him back to life and was like, you know, there's no use.
like might as well not even do it if you don't want to if you don't want to be here and now he's he is
here and he did fight for other people's lives and now he'll continue to do that and i'm excited to
see what happens yeah great writing great great direction i mean it all looks good great characters
i can't wait to get to season two um i don't really have any other thoughts in that i mean i i
love it i think it's great yeah i know i really love the show
Yeah, from knowing nothing about it to finally, having seen the first season, I can't wait to see where it goes.
I think the writing is really compelling.
I think the acting is amazing.
I don't know the rules as far as how TV nominations go, but the dude plays RAS.
I would give that man a frigging award.
Give him a...
You would definitely get the Emmy.
Yeah, the Emmy.
Yeah, he deserves an Emmy Award.
But I don't know if they count
shows in Japan. I hope
Japanese programming
have their own version of the
Emmys because, yeah, I do definitely
be nominated. But yeah,
those are my thoughts for now, and I can't wait for season
two. I'm excited.
We can't wait. So leave all the likes, all the comments.
