Tara Erickson, Coy Jandreau & Aaron Alexander bring you their full Reaction & Review of Alien: Earth Season 1, Episode 8, “The Real Monsters,” — the thrilling season finale from Noah Hawley’s bold reimagining of the Alien franchise. After seven episodes of escalating tension, betrayals, and alien horrors, the finale delivers big answers, shocking confrontations, and a new power dynamic that reshapes everything we thought we knew. Sydney Chandler (Pistol, Don’t Worry Darling) returns as Wendy, the hybrid leader burdened with secrets and a growing connection to forces beyond her control. Timothy Olyphant (Justified, Deadwood) is Kirsh, the cold synthetic mentor whose loyalties are tested in the darkest of ways. Behind the corporate veil stands Boy Kavalier, played by Samuel Blenkin (The Watcher), whose obsession with immortality and control over the Lost Boys has driven much of this season’s conflict. Adarsh Gourav (The White Tiger) and Jonathan Ajayi (Apple TV+ projects) portray the Lost Boys Slightly and Smee, each struggling to find their place in a world that sees them as tools. Lily Newmark (Shōgun, Sex Education) is Nibs, whose fate after Episode 7 became one of the biggest cliffhangers in the series, while Babou Ceesay (Peaky Blinders, Krypton) plays Morrow, whose connection to the Ocellus eye creature looms large. Check out Patreon and check out the finale
of Alien Earth. Let's get it.
Ended on the
Pearl Jam.
I mean, I was pretty close at the ending.
Yeah, what was your preaching?
It was going to be her and the alien
walking and inherited the earth. And instead it's her
aliens and the hybrids inheriting
earth. Yeah.
Yeah. I mean, it's
it's close. Yeah. I thought it was going to be
a dramatic walk into the sunset. Instead, we get
the little bit more of a, you know, season one
cliffhanger energy. Yeah, for sure.
Well, I got a lot to say, but I, uh, first of all, want to thank Prepper
for making this possible on the YouTube.
It's a very violent intent show.
So without their editing prowess, we would not be able
to do such things. Before we get into our review and thoughts,
normally we would have Patreon questions. We were lucky enough
to get this a little early so they didn't get out to folks
in time. But I want to hear
anything you got to plug?
Um, uh, TikTok, Instagram.
Real Aaron Alexander.
And, uh, yeah, those are the things for now.
TikTok, Instagram, YouTube back, Coy, Johnro.
Same here, Tara Erickson, but also follow the rage pod, please, and go listen to the new
podcast that I'm on. Thank you.
Let's talk Alien Earth.
Um, I enjoyed this finale, but I actually don't know what I want to say yet.
So Tara.
I think the most exciting part for me was realizing Wendy or Marcy's actual powers.
When she stops the freaking dickhead robot and like I was like, wait, what is happening?
Oh, right now, like the haunting is such smart writing.
And I, I mean, I just had a lot of fun because there were times where I thought when like the
soldiers went into the elevator it kind of leaves you on a cliffhanger like wait is the xenomorph
going to be in there and then you're like no wendy's going to fuck with them right now in the elevator
which was so much fun um and then i i got the path that i wanted to of really seeing her
communicating with the xenomorphs and her now like ruling because i'm like yeah if she can
communicate with them she can make them do whatever and we saw in the last episode and she reaches out
to like pet it it's like we've never seen that before ever in our entire lives um and i think it's
really cool and i i would love it if because one of you guys said oh maybe she can teach the others
to communicate with them which i think that would be a lot of fun too but um i don't think that
the xenomorphs are going to kill like kersh and cavalier and the the therapist i think she's just
going to maybe toy with them a little bit because as we as we heard um cavalier calling them toys he
literally calls them toys so i'm like now is the time for these guys to toy with them and not
necessarily kill them i think like make it last like not torture full on but they did fuck with you
a lot and i i'm not sure how hermit is going to fully help all of them but i'm not sure how hermit is going to
fully help all of them
but I'm glad that like
they're all together and they have
the power now and that is
very exciting. But
Waylon Utani was arriving as
yeah
there's not going to be a lot of time for that's why that's
oh my God yes
we're about to get a holy difference season
holy tamale I'm just saying I'm just that was a
yeah that was a
really good finale
yeah you know it's funny
because I really enjoyed the finale
I think just because of the nature of the franchise of Alien,
I was expecting something a lot more bloody and a lot more people to die.
But I guess I am happy for the fact that I enjoy the cast that we've culminated over the course of these eight episodes.
And then we get to see more of them in the second season.
And I appreciate Noah Hawley's restraint in not having that be the case.
This grand finale where they get there come up, it's just a big blood bath.
But more so, it's a, it's wrapping up what we started at the beginning of the show where these kids are in a position looking up to these adults, feeling powerless and looking to them for guidance.
And now they are the ones in control of their own narrative and their own destiny.
And in the face of, you know, more problems to come for the second season.
But at this point in time, they are the ones in charge.
They are the ghosts.
They are ruling.
And I think that's very cool.
I think that's very awesome.
like hey there is another light something's happening in here it's the same it just goes on and off they're just dimming it
it was very alarming yeah um but yeah in ghosts uh in short i really liked everything we got in this episode
i think it was tense they built upon all the character drama and relationships that we have come to
see over the course of the season i like that we ended with the reunion of of hermit and wendy
slash Marcy or whatever
she's going to call herself
for the next season
and I like that
NIMS wasn't dead
and that she didn't kill
the scientist lady
slash mother figure
and we get to see
what happens next.
I like that that
his name Robert
who now is the holder
of the eye
his body.
Arthur Arthur.
Arthur, my bad.
Arthur is now going
to be possessed by this
good for that actor man.
He gets to come back.
to me and like, I'm barely in this.
And then at the end,
you're like, it killed me and then nope.
Nope.
Also, how nice of it to not like
rip his face apart and just kind of
sneaks slyly into that spot.
You know, because he messed up the, the sheep's
eye fucking real bad.
But yeah, he just like replaced the eye real
gentle, real, real demure with it.
I'm a little worried, though, because Arthur was on their side
and now that that's in there, will he not be?
We don't know what it wants.
I know. I know. That's what I'm like,
I'm genuinely curious. Yeah, I like the fact
that Utani's coming to
the island now. I think this episode
did a really good job of positioning
our characters and now getting them all on the same
side. I like that
what was her name? She goes by
Jane now.
Curley? Yeah, Curley goes by Jane now.
Cavalier betrayed her. She wanted
Daddy's love or Peter's love and
she's like, no, I am
my own person. I'm not what he
defines me to be. So the fact that we
are now entering the rise of the
hybrids is a interesting place for us to start this second season and yeah there's more monsters
and aliens afoot on here i don't know what's going to happen with them but it seems like we
potentially have a a war on our hands between our five synthetics and our two xenomorphs
but against uh will and eutani so yeah we'll see what's to come next season coy uh two big
thoughts broadly uh i think it's really interesting how little uh we get shows that are confident
in their season 2s.
I feel like so many shows
write themselves
to be single season experiences.
And I like that this is
something that is
presuming more to come.
I like having a building up of cast
because so much this first season
had to be acclimating to these characters.
And there was a moment
I didn't expect
where it was like a team up
with the hybrids that felt like a team.
And I was like,
oh, I have invested in more of them
than I thought.
Like I did feel that.
Oh, they're all together.
And like you kept pointing out
like the five shots.
It's like those moments did hit, and I wouldn't have thought they would have.
So I was like, I want more of that.
So I like that the show, formatting-wise, was confident to not have, you know, this kind of wrap-up.
And shows are continuous, like serialized.
So I like a cliffhanger.
So I like a show that doesn't feel like a limited series.
So I appreciate that from a macro standpoint.
And storytelling-wise, you know, there was this running conversation of when is a machine, not a machine.
and I think the answer to that being a ghost in the machine is a really interesting philosophical question.
I kept bringing up the ship of Theseus, and the ship of Theseus is a concept.
I've wondered a lot because I'm a believer in the cocoon theory.
I think that humanity is aggressively heading towards its own demise to become an amalgamation with technology.
I think that we are aggressively destroying our planet.
I think we are aggressively building AI when we've made a lot of art about how.
how dangerous it is.
I think we are shepherding ourselves towards a new consciousness where there'll be a period
of cocooning, and then we emerge something that is a mix of organic and synthetic.
And I think that's probably only four or five generations away.
That's as an optimist.
I want my kids to live full lives as humans.
But I think that the concept of hybrids ties into that organic, synthetic blend that I think
our reality is experiencing.
But there's also a philosophical concept of the ghost and the machine.
what it is that separates a machine from life and what it is to have that spark of life.
So I love the language of a ghost is when a machine is not a machine.
And I really like that this landed that in a horror way by making the haunting, but also it made a lot of very big horror decisions.
Like this was a very haunted house episode.
This was haunting a dead body.
You know, this was very much a ghost thematic tie-in to the end that I didn't expect.
So just as a philosophy junkie, ghost machine, cocoon theory, all of my weird, I like doing mushroom thoughts.
I love that.
I feel like...
You guys broke down the episode and I was like, so!
Oh, yeah, rejuignation.
It's time for me to tell you that if you're still overpaying for wireless, it's time to say yes to saying no, I've joined this family.
No contracts, no overages, no hidden fees, no BS.
That's why I have finally converted.
to the thing I kept hearing about.

I worked long days here.
Oftentimes, I've the shoot content on the go.
And I've never felt like I downgraded.
If you're like me and you're tired of jaw-dropping wireless bills,
Maybe it's time to make the switch like I did, like we all have.
So, if you're ready to say yes to saying no, make the switch to mintmobile.com slash rejects.
That's mintmobile.com slash rejects.

Thanks, Minmobile, for finally reeling me in and helping me save.
Like you reminded me that Whalen Yutani is like on the way but Wendy is in control of everything of everything so she is now going to have to work with like Marro's mommy type deal who took him in yeah and while Marro is like tied up and I wonder if they if they become fast friends if Marcy's like you can have them or you can't I mean Marcy is going to be the only one that she can't
communicate with if she wants to get what she wants period yeah so my that's going to be wild yeah what
what does power do to her though like is she yeah is she going to be you know will she will she
abuse her power will she use it just enough to be peaceful because this is the first time they
don't have to answer to anybody or have to bent to somebody's will i suppose so what is what does that
mean in the face of because they have
they have the cyborg in there
they have the fully synthetic
androids in there and they have humans in there
they are something else entirely
because they have the
physicality of something that is greater than a
human but the minds and feelings and
memories of what they've experienced
plus their processing
power of being
something that's not human so it's
to create something both mentally
and physically other than
anything we've experienced or people in this world
have experienced before, and I think that alone
is fascinating. Does she
become corrupt? Does absolute
power corrupt absolutely in the face
of someone who is not human or
robot? Yeah. I
think the moment
to tie into that, that's interesting, is she doesn't like
complicated. So what's the most
linear path? Like, that's why she likes
the xenomorphs. Is logical.
They're honest. So is it something where
she'll like Whalen Utani's
clean, like, is it going to be where she's
like, take them? Give me this power. Give me
this thing that I want, I don't care about
this. Like what's it going to be when you're a child
which is an immature thing that's fueled
by emotion and when you claim
to be something above that that doesn't like complicated?
So I think that's going to be really interesting in Wayland
Usani because we've seen her be very calm, cool
and controlled. And that last shot of her
like the overlap fate of her like watching over
as the ships descend. Like that
I feel like is season two, a very big
like anime inspired like
the power struggle of
a big billion trillion dollar corporation
versus this new entity
on this island, all on earth.
Yeah, I think another question I have is with her relationship with the xenomorph, does she
view them as her children as something that, you know, that she connects with or she
viewed as a tool more so?
Her mentioning Jane was interesting, like Wendy's child.
You know, Captain Hook stole Jane in the original, and that's something they brought up,
and I don't think you'd bring that up.
Right.
You know, so I feel like, you know, her calling out him for not being Peter Pan.
is as important as her being like
Jane is really the thing
and the xenomorphs to me
are Jane in the myth
but yeah it's fun to like
have Peter Pan be relevant like I
love the myth of Peter Payne and I really
think they played around with a lot of lore
mythology here in a very interesting way
I like that they're all hip to like
what they were named how it's going
and now all these people that were controlling
them are in there and what
makes me think that's going to be harder
between Marcy and Wayland
Utani is the last thing we
heard is now we rule
and I'm like
that was dope as hell but now I'm like
oh shit
what like what yeah
awesome but also what's
gonna go down
what does it look like how does she
rule like I'm and I think that hermit
will still keep her grounded
I think she'll still listen to her brother
but then again maybe not
I feel like at the end there was a lot of
there was a separation right yeah so you know what I didn't realize it maybe I should have
because it's on the uniform and I think sometimes they do that when I went to the grave it
showed that hermit's their last name and because it's Marcy Hermit's like what's his first
name well I think because in Mill oh yeah I don't know they would have hermit written down
because of the last name exactly right right they probably said yeah they probably did
we can look at IMDBs yeah we don't know but I my last point I think is um what I'm finding
interesting about like what's to come is they very specifically mentioned she could control
the other android the original because he was on network so her power is within that environment
what is that going to look like with these ships and things coming in what does that look like
with you know obviously she's physically powerful in all those things but you know what's that war
going to my god she could stop their navigation they i mean they're not part of their network though oh
right so she can control things outside of the island as well because remember uh when her
it wasn't even on the island she controlled
like when he was at the lady oh
when he was at the DMV looking place
remember that yes and she had
the lady say welcome whatever
whatever it was or play play the Ice Age
movie and that's what I'm wondering her level of power right
she's mentioning the network I was like
okay so it's controlled but yeah
that's true
a lot to discover
season two yeah spooky
any last thoughts no man
love this show can't wait for season two
yeah I hope they we see obviously
within the context of this show
but I feel like Wendy's a really cool
character and they've done
some interesting stuff with the mythology and
I would like to see Wendy outside
of the context of just this show. Maybe she can
mean other alien projects going forward
because synthetics technically don't
age. So who knows?
Maybe we can see her in like
cryosleep or just like
in another timeline of alien
but yeah, I'm excited to see
where she goes next in this journey in season too.
I'm really curious if any of these seasons
ever connect to the original because I know they set
this before and I like that they're going to be himself enough
runway. Two years before. Yeah, so I
like that there's enough runway that maybe like
if they find out season three or four
is their last, they then make that something that connects
that'd be cool. Especially with how this opened
so 70s. So yeah, I had
a fun time with this. I think it's one
of my favorite shows of the year. I'd love to hear your

All right, bye guys.
All right.
It started with a scream
inside a quiet Maryland home,
a mother trying to protect the family dog
and her son in the grip
of a violent hallucinogenic rage.
By the time it was over, she was dead.
And he claimed LSD made him do it.

It's so small that it's easy to miss on a map.
Just scattered homes, gravel roads, and dense, silent forest.
It's a place where people choose for the quiet, the isolation in the distance.
a place where life moves at a very slow pace and secrets can stay hidden for a long time.
On the morning of Sunday, the 8th of March 2015, the stillness of Peel was interrupted.
At the Oneida County Emergency Dispatch Centre, the phone began to ring.
Before the operator could answer, the caller hung up. It happened again and then again.
Three calls, all from the same number. Then came a fourth call.
And then finally, there was a voice. It was a little girl.
And she grabbed the knife. It was on the shelf, and she came after me with it.
