We'll see you guys for Annabelle. what do you think if you're on apple spotify five star i saw some comments people were like wait
Starting point is 00:01:39 you can watch the watch longs there no we just do our our piece at the end where we talk about it those go up on podcast form yes correct um everything else check us out on youtube and our social so um man okay it's a good movie yeah good movie yeah i understand why they did it I think it'll kind of just grows the world. Like, we know that there's going to be a nun franchise, too. So then we've got the Annabelle franchise, the Nunn franchise. It's all part of the conjuring. We've got our main conjuring movies.
Starting point is 00:02:13 And this creepiest part of all of this is that there is validity to it. There's truth to it, right? Based on a true story of sorts. Right. These ones really get to me, man. Yeah. because the drama aspect of it and the people dying and giving
Starting point is 00:02:32 like there's there's a lot of sadness that woman was so sad that she felt like it was better for her to go because she'd already lost her kid and this was her time and it was just very it was upsetting yeah it's upsetting um I really was so grateful
Starting point is 00:02:51 for the relationship in the movie I loved the partnership they had yeah you know if I was him i'd been like absolutely hell no um am i choosing uh oh the baby over yeah but i was glad that it's what she needed in the moment to hear right but he really loved her and he believed her and he said i'll always believe you and that that was valuable message as well i got to look up some of the name of the cast because you know yeah it went small and you didn't help me you don't care about my
Starting point is 00:03:23 obsession with the actor's names um okay let me tell you was I who was that and was it who I thought it was this is the question of the hour yeah because I'm never going to know their name fuck me dude that's who it was and it said it at the end Tony and O'Dola you know who I thought it was you said F Murphy something F Murray Abraham he looked exactly like F Murray Abraham who um most recently is I watch in mythic quest but he was in inside lewin davis uh grand budapest hotel amadeus he's been in everything you Oh, I know you're talking about. Once you said Grand Budapest, I was like, oh, he looks exactly like him.
Starting point is 00:04:03 They look so very similar. I was like, is that him? It just looked like him, but it was not him. They look a lot of like. It was Tony Amandola, who I feel like we know from other things. This movie came out in 2014. It looked really good. For being 10 years old, I mean, this could come out today.
Starting point is 00:04:19 Totally. Yeah, no, it looks great. I agree. I feel like. Yeah, we're both a little like dumbfounded right now about. Well, I just feel like they did a really good job of keeping us on the edge of our seats of like kind of, it's just, you feel a lot of anxiety when you're watching this, which is great. You know, there's a lot of buildup. And when there are scares, I mean, that one, demon one really got me.
Starting point is 00:04:45 But we're really mostly following the point of view of a mother caught in the winds of a demon and what it does to her life with her, her child. But having a stranger almost, you know, even though they became friends at the end, a stranger gave her life so that she could remain a mother to her child. And the way that they wrote it, I like that she would understand the most what it means to be a mother to a child. And she lost that opportunity. Who the name, the friend, the book's her owner. So it makes the most sense that she would end up giving her life to say, I know how important it is to be a mother to a child. And she no longer has that opportunity. As we saw, she already tried to commit suicide. And then, you know, she gives her life for them. But I think. And it works. And it works, which is, which is nuts. Maybe appears again. By the way, that actress, Alfred Woodard, at the whole time, we were both like, yeah, and she's in a million things. But she is Mariah.
Starting point is 00:05:55 Luke Cage, which is how I should have absolutely recognized her. She is like unbelievable in the show, Luke Cage. Did you watch any of those Netflix? That's a while ago, right? Long time ago. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Well, not that. I mean, 2016 to 2018. Yeah, a while ago. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:06:11 Anything pre-pandemic feels like 50 years. Exactly. Yeah. But she's been a million things as well, 12 years of slave, Star Trek first contact. Yeah, she was really good. And she obviously knew what she was doing with us. She was toying with our emotions because I didn't trust her. Right. And that was
Starting point is 00:06:29 an acting choice. It wasn't any of her lines. It was the performance. Agreed. Where I was like, you're on my radar. And then adding in that the devil book was in the front of her bookshop added another sense of disbelief of like, do we believe this lady? Is she part
Starting point is 00:06:46 of the cult? Why is she watching them? What's going on? They added a lot within this film to make us not trust her and throw us off the scent that she would end up indeed being their savior, which is, um, you know, crazy. I think, I think it's wild to, to see this story of maybe it's like, hey, don't, don't collect anything because they could be holding some bad juju in them. It's possible. And I have a bunch of collections. Maybe I should toss them all out. Exactly. Right. Where it's like, it's sort of like becomes a gluttonous thing where
Starting point is 00:07:21 it's like collections mean, because she had, she had so many. And then people are, are vying after this like we've been looking all over for this like when they want a thing and then as we saw at the end the he's like absolutely ring me up where that is also you know where they say not to be not to be gluttonous like if you're a Christian whatever like that's like a sin but it's like also kind of like a devil thing I think too which they're they're somewhat highlighting in this film the guy I haven't looked up the trivia yet but I'm just looking at the director because I didn't recognize his name.
Starting point is 00:07:58 He, the director, John R. Leonetti was the D.P. of the conjuring. Oh, how cool is that? That's great.
Starting point is 00:08:06 That's awesome. It makes perfect sense. Also, another franchise we're thinking of doing after this, which you guys let us know in the comments. He,
Starting point is 00:08:14 the director after this, directed insidious chapter two. So we've thought about starting the insidious franchise. That's cool. So that's interesting as well. I like that. It comes from a DP background.
Starting point is 00:08:24 That's probably why, it looked so good. He's been the D.B. For a lot of stuff. He really used music and obviously in his favor because we didn't get as many jump scares, but the music made us feel very tense most of the time. And a long hallway. Exactly.
Starting point is 00:08:42 And like us staying on Annabelle and us both going, she's going to move eventually. And she never does except for that one time with the demon she floats up. And that's wild because I thought in my head still that she's just doing it on her own, and then when the demons were revealed behind her, yeah, I mean, that looked awesome. The demon looked really great. Great job on those, like, practical effects and makeup looked great. In 2014, yeah, it looked awesome.
Starting point is 00:09:06 Okay, let me give you some stuff. Yeah, let me give you the sauce. I think we. Stop trying to make sauce happen, Roxy. The movie portrays the Annabel doll as a porcelain doll, but the real Annabelle doll is a large raggedy and doll. The Warren's had a special case built for Annabelle inside their occulent. where she resides on this day, to this day.
Starting point is 00:09:28 The baby mobile hanging over the crib plays the same tune as the music box from The Conjuring. Okay. The real Annabelle doll was given to Donna, a college student at the time by her mother in 1970. She in her roommate Angie noticed that the doll would move subtly. Then, within a few weeks, became fully mobile, moving from one room to another while they were gone. What? I don't know. Thank you to Hewle for sponsoring today's video.
Starting point is 00:09:59 Now, guys, I'm going to give you all the God's honest truth of how this sponsorship came to be. Sponsorship came to be. We got contacted about basically partnering up with Hewle. Before we agreed to anything, the very first thing I said was I would like to try the product first. I did a Instagram post on our Real Rejects one. It was the first time you see me trying the Hewle product. Basically going like, hey, we might not partner with them. This is not a paid Instagram post.
Starting point is 00:10:23 but I just wanted to try it since a lot of you guys asked for, like, health recommendations now and the know kind of what I take only because of the fact that I'm vegetarian, I have very limited protein options. So I gave it a shot and ended up loving it primarily the chocolate one. Wow, this is really, this is a really great one. One of the best things about it is that, yes, it's pre-packaged, and a lot of times when it comes to, like, the pre-packaged bottles, I'm not a big fan of them normally, which he got me drinking on camera,
Starting point is 00:10:47 is one of these, which takes a very long time to put together and can often get messy, and it's just not aesthetically pleasing, but I'm trying to pack like a lot of vitamins and fiber protein. The best part about Huell is a lot of what I try to pack into this one giant shake is already available in this little bottle. Often taste better than what I can actually assemble myself. It actually tastes great. It's got a high protein intake count as well. And you know what? Brad new bottle. If you guys can see, it's filled to the top. This is how good it tastes. now normally what you want to do is spread it out but if you wanted in one go
Starting point is 00:11:32 it is just as good it tastes really freaking good thank you so much response from this video the one thing they want me to say is this is you can get 15% off huel today with code rejects at huel.com slash rejects fuel your best performance with huel today they are great and i am already almost out of the many bottles they sent me if you guys do go try Check them out at Hewell.com slash rejects. You'll see they've got a whole bunch more items available as well. And if they taste anything as good as this, I'm going to be a very happy customer for a very, very long time.
Starting point is 00:12:00 So join me on this health journey. The elevator scene was directed by James Wan. Oh, okay. That's cool. He just stepped in for that. She looked panicking and opening it, revealing it's the same every time. Okay. I love that.
Starting point is 00:12:17 Alvry Woodard hadn't seen The Conjuring before she began working on this film. Instead, she prepared by researching the story that inspired the film. Okay. Yeah, that's smart. Ellen DeGeneres lived in the apartment used in the movie. Oh my God. While promoting Annabelle in her show, Shailabov, Gina Rodriguez, Padma La Lachima, guest DJ Megan Trainer, 2014. She explained that the apartment in the movie was my first apartment that I moved into in L.A.
Starting point is 00:12:44 That was the building I lived in where they shot the movie. I was watching it going, that looks familiar. and it was my building. It was scary back then, too. Wow. That's great. I love that little trivia. The character names Mia and John
Starting point is 00:12:59 refer to the lead actors in Rosemary's baby, Mia Farrow and John Cassavetes. Oh, okay. The movie is also about a young, well-to-do couple in a luxury apartment, having a baby in combination with Satanists
Starting point is 00:13:11 going for mother and child. That makes sense. Okay. I haven't seen that movie, but now I kind of have the plot. The frequent noise. of the neighbors in an adjacent apartment is a nod to the same movie.
Starting point is 00:13:23 Okay. Yeah. A 1963 episode of the Twilight Zone titled Living Doll involves a talking doll given to a young girl by her mother. The doll's innocent vocabulary soon turns into a sinister tone, especially toward the girl's cruel stepfather. The girl's mother is named Annabel.
Starting point is 00:13:40 Oh, okay. A lot, like, they're taking a lot. There's a lot. I'm surprised that nobody's like, this is very Chuckie-esque, too, because they throw chucky, Chuck E in the trash, he comes right out. But what is, yeah, this is obviously after that. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:13:57 Coincidentally, Annabelle is the first name of the, is the first name of the actress who plays Mia. Oh. That's funny. Okay. Okay, let me ask you a question. Mia shouts Leah, how many times total throughout the film, breaking the record of saying a character's name repeatedly in a movie? Paul. Paul.
Starting point is 00:14:15 Now it's going to be Leah. Leah. Leah? Leah. Um 69 times 89. I was close.
Starting point is 00:14:29 The director of this film is also the cinematographer for Child's Play 3. Ah, see? Dope. So he got some, he got Chucky Juice with him. That's why it's following him around. I kept saying it. Now we got the trivia to support it.
Starting point is 00:14:44 So it's interesting, the order in which we watch this because this timeline-wise, Conjuring came out, then this came out, then Conjuring 2 came out. But chronologically, this is the prequel to the conjuring. Right. It would be that way when we see the conjuring, we would go, oh, that's Annabelle. But we kind of already, we were like, that doll looks creepy as I'll get up. Yep.
Starting point is 00:15:06 I like that. That's cool. Because there's so many items and things you can play with within this world that we have seen, that can be a spinoff. highest grossing horror film in the Philippines surpassing insidious chapter two that's interesting this was wow okay good job damn that's cool um all right my lady anything else that you want to add no no it was it's a it's a good film i'm excited to watch the next one because it it really did feel like a chapter one i'm so i'm excited to see if there is a number two what kind of like juice we get into right off the bat if it takes off a little bit quicker because now we we have like a
Starting point is 00:15:46 really good establishing story. It was a good time. I'm with you. And we will see you guys for the rest of the Conjuringverse. Later, Rejects. Mom, Dad, you should chop Amazon for back to school and save some money. See, I'm currently obsessed with
Starting point is 00:16:06 superheroes and need all the superhero stuff. Superhero launch box, superhero backpack. But next year, it'll be something else. Maybe Dinosaur? I don't know. I'm not a fortune teller. But I can tell you not to spend a fortune and shop low prices for school on Amazon. Okay, good chat. Amazon, spend less, smile more. Mom and dad, I'm growing at an alarming rate and close you by me this year will be very small,
Starting point is 00:16:34 very soon. But at least your wallet doesn't have to be my fashion victim with low prices for school at Amazon. Hope that helps. Amazon, spend less, smile more.
