This week's video is sponsored by Acorns,
the money app that makes it simple and cheap
to make small yet significant investments.
All right, let's do it, guys.
Well, well, ladies and gentlemen,
if you are privileged enough to listen to us on Apple or Spotify,
where Real Rejects is located.
We just watch our Kane season two, episode,
one um john john from fawn how are you doing john from zahn i no i're going with fawn we're going
with fawn i hang out with the deer uh yes absolutely do uh i am enthralled that's so cool to be back
in this world like i remember back when we first saw our cane we were introduced to this world
and it was like such a gratifying sort of dazzling experience of both basically an equal
measure of interesting storytelling and characterization but also beautiful art and animation a lot of
punch and zap and all sorts of other onomatopoeia uh yeah and and i mean this season hitting the
ground running i feel like speaks to the kind of storytelling that they've exemplified all along you know
it's like they'll lead you to a place that you might have expected to go but the circumstances that
get you there are never quite what you anticipated and yeah just the boiling over of this conflict now you know
I have all this dread, but I'm also just so excited to get into the thick of the, you know, the conflict, the battle, the fight for the soul of, you know, Zahn and Piltover and what, you know, sort of unity could become after all of this bloodshed that is undoubtedly coming our way.
Yeah, I thought this was a very strong opening episode for the season.
I mean, and having just binged the first season again in preparation for this, it feels pretty much just like a direct,
you know,
continuation,
which after,
you know,
given the way
season one ends,
you could expect that
to happen.
But I wanted a 10-year
time jump.
Well,
I mean,
they've been great
at doing time jumps
and,
and, you know,
far to be like
a passover,
the war.
Yes,
yeah.
James is dead.
Yeah,
so it's a hundred years
into the future,
none of the characters
we followed the first time
or you're alive anymore.
Uh,
yeah,
but,
but,
but,
but, you know,
the outcome of that attack,
uh,
you know,
being the cliffhanger
from last season,
I thought was
nicely handled here and yeah
you know the sitting here going back
and forth being like oh man I thought
for sure that we were going to witness
piltover invading
the um what do they call them the lane
the lanes you know
the memorial essentially well no
I mean piled over evading
the under city yeah
the lanes or whatever they call it
you know I yeah I too
thought we were going to kind of witness that
tyranny and that tyranny is brewing
but there's also yeah that sort of idea that sort of idea
that jinks in striking this blow has literally, as you said,
you know, kind of started the revolution.
Become the joker.
Has become the Joker.
And now, you know, Richard.
She's Arthur Fleck.
She, you know, she doesn't have the cause at heart so much.
You know, she is like a chaotic rogue.
And so, yeah, in a way.
She kind of does.
She kind of wants to attack the council.
I mean, this is true.
I mean, she's certainly more politically aware than Arthur Fleck.
But certainly, I wouldn't say.
say motivated solely by that she's heath Ledger's Joker with the mental instability of
her through pleasure sure yes very much motivated and driven by you know the personality of
harley Quinn and the personality of harley Quinn there you go it's perfect it's all the joker and
adjacent Joker characters distilled uh but yeah i don't know like just the the the way we're
watching is yeah characters now grow especially katelyn as of this episode and a bit with jace
kind of allowing himself to turn to you know to cross that threshold we said we would never
cross with the hex tech weaponry yeah i mean there's there's more to talk about certainly but
i was quite enthralled by this and you know the action is punching just as hard the animation
is gorgeous it's you know very much what we saw demonstrated in the first season but i feel like
they've also just kind of without any kind of massive overhaul not that it would have needed it
anyway, they have sort of added to their sort of visual palette in some interesting ways
and stylistic ways.
So, yeah, I cannot wait to continue.
Ladies and gentlemen, I'm excited to shout out today's sponsor because it is an app that
I have been using since before we partnered with them, which just makes my job easy.
And I just get to share with you something I really do love.
And that is the Acorns app.
Because money's involved, I researched them extensively to make sure, like, they've got to be
legit right you can find so many positive reviews on them there's one person here they themselves
gave me a very positive testimony about how it helped get them out of a bind once that they were
in and i can say that you know i don't want to actually show my but i have the app just as evidence
because one of my favorite things about it is how easy they make it for investing that's something
that i think is really important it's really hard to get ahead in life for something like me who
doesn't have a 401k who really does need to invest money so that way i don't have to just work for money
but have money grow for me, have money work for me.
It's an absolutely amazing start.
Best part is you don't need a lot of money to do it.
You can literally start with your spare change.
They make it easy to automatically start saving and investing for you, your future,
your retirement, your kids, whatever it may be that you want to invest money for.
Like I say, you don't need a lot of money.
You don't even really need expertise, which is the best part.
Acorns recommends an expert built portfolio that fits you and your money goals.
Then automatically invest the money for you.
So it takes a lot of this stressful decision-making fatigue out of the best.
the process. I just love how I can let it do its thing and then I can just check it with my
half like a month later, a couple months later, see how they're awesome dollar roundup or whatever
my money investments I've gone into. Literally it's just awesome to see it grow. Plus now you can
open an Acorns later IRA and get up to a 3% match on new contributions. So it's extra money
for your retirement. Cannot stress it enough. It's made investing, especially at a jumping off point,
super easy, super stress-free, super straightforward. It's all about small steps today making a big
impact on your future. Because from ACORNS, Mighty Oaks do grow. Grow your Roke.
So you can head at ACORNs.com slash rejects or download the ACORNs app and start saving and
investing for your future. There's a link in the description box and pin comment.
A little disclaimer too, I got to say because it's, you know, financial is involved.
Payton non-client endorsement. Compensation provides incentive to positively promote ACORN's
investing involves risk. Acorns advisor LLC and SEC, registered investment advisor, view important
disclosures at ACORN.com slash rejects. I highly recommend this app. So please go
head download it thank you again me neither we didn't see heimlich maneuver yeah heimerdinger he's
still out there still out there still out there teaching echo how to be everything he was
concerned about unfold all on a couple days time you know when you're watching that first
is you mean like shut up man yeah we don't hold my mad jace down all right gosh this
you're stuck in the old ways different now man you're stuck in the old ways you wish you came up
with this we're not learning from history we're going to create a new history you watch uh yeah i mean a
big part of this show seems to be like dictated by how grief can morph you and if you look at like
act one of season one that ends at such a pivotal point because it's like essentially act one of season
one is really like a prologue for everything that we're going to watch unfold and that it's so
dictated by the final moments of what happens with jinx and vi in their younger years
and of course like the situation with silco what he's moved by then you watch here with kaitland
experiencing this level of grief like it's you've seen her care throughout all the season one
that's the that's the interesting part with her character is that she she's not someone who
suddenly gives a shit because her mom died she's always cared but now she's at conflict
where she's battling her own emotions of hatred and trying not to develop prejudices
towards people in the undercity
whilst in this stage of grief
trying to remain
semi-rational
as much as possible
and understanding that this is just
a few bad apples
and there's some conflict here
and there's going to be some violence
but that doesn't mean everyone deserves to be
you know killed
like that's why I really like
the one-two punch of
the undercity attacking first
or Silco's people
whatever you want to call them attacking first
those who wish to revolutionize because
I mean first though generally
it would be Piltover who would attack first
following because it's like okay now we've seen
Jinx's attack it would only make sense
and then we would react but then like oh my god
just while they're mourning they're hitting them at
the under city is hitting them at their most vulnerable
like turning a day of mourning when they least expect it
I really think that that makes just makes it even hard
I like I like how watching how much it was pushing
Caitlin to the point where she gets to by the end of this episode
and for Vi to be hinting at at least being somewhat of a bridge between what they want to accomplish by the end.
Like, I don't know if this is all just going to burn down.
I really don't know if everything's going to burn down.
I'm going to find a solution by the end of it all.
I really have no idea where any of this is going to go.
The hope is that a solution can happen.
But I think, too, they do a really good job at showing you the perspective of both sides.
and enhancing the whole conflict in the fact that you're like,
well, everybody's got a point and everybody's also overreacted
in some heinous way, you know, at one point or another.
So, like, how do we detangle this, you know?
Yeah.
Yeah, that's fair.
Yeah, I mean, it carries over a lot,
and there's some really cool action,
and I didn't expect there to be any action at all in the first episode, actually.
And I think, like, that's great storytelling
when the action is definitely rooted in emotion and seamwork first
before cool choreography and visuals.
Well, it makes it feel dangerous, yeah.
And the way they ramped up that moment in the memorial
where you're watching these people move through the crowd
and the suspicion is slowly kind of being planted.
Yeah.
They're really good at capturing that perspective
and making a camera, like, evoke that feeling.
And we didn't even see Jinks at all this episode,
and I'm really, I'm really interested to see
what becomes of the position Vye has now inhabited,
because to dawn the uniform, the badge, is a massive step and creates a lot of fuzzy line work, I can imagine, for people who might even know her.
Anyway, yeah, I still got two more episodes to watch, so we're going to get to it.
But what did you guys think about the premiere episode?
Anything surprise you in here?
Did you guess that's Xander's brother, but it was really a misleaded at Silco's brother?
Oh, what is it?
Leave your thoughts down below.
Everyone, shut up.
We're going to watch the next one.
David Miliora.
David.
If there's anyone who I feel like I would need by my side as I go into a lower class society to go take them out with my advanced weaponry, I really feel like it would be you, David.
I just get the vibe
that you are someone who is just
looking to inflict
some pain and
you know what?
Beast you. You need someone
like that on your side when it comes
down to it because you're fighting
against people who have something to fight for
their lives. I'm
fighting to protect my water.
So, you need
someone who just wants to be violent
to be violent. You need a berserker.
It's David. It's David. It's David Miliaro.
Let's face it, David.
Kill Yaro.
Oh, dude, yeah.
That's what they call him on the streets.
The streets of Beverly Hills, California.
That's where I want to be.
He is a threat.
So, David, I want to say thank you for this Thanksgiving for being part of our Patreon page
and being willing to fight by my side as I justifiably go after people.
Enabling you.
It's good.
You need somebody to grease those wheels.
If I'm not enabled, I'll still do it.
See again.
But it won't feel as good.
