for a treat.
Hey.
Leave us a five-star rating because we asked you two, not because we earned it.
And John, we just watched Arcane Season 2, Episode 3.
We did.
We didn't start the fire.
What did you think of this episode?
John, thoughts.
I'm continuing to have thoughts and feelings and experiences.
There's one thing the show is good at.
It's delivering thoughts, feelings, and experiences.
I mean, this is continuing to be just arch compelling.
Yeah, this episode had a lot of nightmarish quality to it.
I feel like the first episode you mentioned in particular that there was sort of a noir feeling and there was a lot of very somber air.
I did. Don't steal my point. Just keep the, you know, just make sure you just give you. You did give credit.
Never mind. You can keep talking then.
You said something earlier, and it was a good thing that you said. And I just like to listen to you speak, you know.
Thank you, John.
I'm just going to congratulate all the points you made last time.
Thank you, Josh.
No, but, like, yeah, coming out of the last episode that does have that somber, you know, grief tone very distinctly.
I thought this episode had a more sort of icky, nightmarish tone to it, even in the aspects that are less sinister outright.
You know, like, everything had a certain air of sinisterness about it, and I think that that's a neat thing, because obviously, like, the, uh, the ramping up of the effort to go scour the lanes and to find jinx, you know, you get to see from the outside perspective what the force enhanced by HexTech looks like. And that's something that we spent so much of season one trying not to come to. And now we are there. And it is.
It's like, obviously leads to some badass action scenes, but also is unsettling and unnerving.
And it comes with this sort of harshness that is, is, there's like a, you know, the violence, the action, the fighting in this show has been, you know, has packed a punch since the beginning.
And it's been very kinetic and been very sort of forceful.
but here it felt also kind of scary in a different way and just the amount of sort of trawling through the shadows that we're doing and through fog and mist and it's hard to breathe and all that and even with victor you know this power that seems like it has the potential to be amazing also comes with this body horror aspect and this aspect of as you brought up as well another good point the sort of question
mark of is he being led
uh you know by
this primordial power for some divine purpose or is there just
another just sort of strange development taking place that is neither good
nor bad or could be sinister you know is he being corrupted is he
you know rising to some other plane of existence now
either way like i i really enjoy the tangibility
of this show the visual choices that they make
and yeah the story continues to be compelling
and I was wondering too after the first season
because Silco is such a compelling villain
such a well-drawn villain
I was wondering who's going to be the villain this time
or are we going to have a villain other than just the conflict
and the sort of seeds at the heart of that
and here you get kind of at least an offering
of three potential villains trying to
fill the void that has been left by silco along with um yeah what is her name america or
whatever the the the girl who's silko's right hand who just got the new arm all that uh yeah
i don't know this this had a nightmare quality to it while also continuing to be compelling
in the way that arcane is what do you think g i feel like the villain's conflict
the conflict at hand there's no real clear-cut villain and
And as the audience member, you have to sort of decide where your allegiances lie.
Because you can easily, if you didn't get the prologue of the show of Act 1 in, I must remember why.
If you get Act 1 of the show of Season 1, it would be very easy to look at this show and go, Jinks is definitely the bad guy.
Yeah.
You know, but because we got that prologue, you're like, oh, man, she's had some shit happen.
Yeah, yeah, there's still
It's still a chance
She's still in there somewhere
Like, you get, yeah
It'd be a villain you understand
You don't agree with jinx a lot of the time
But you do understand her
Much of the time
But if we didn't have that pro
That's part of the brilliance of Arcane
Is because of that act one of season one
She's not just a clear-cut bad guy
Yeah
And to me this episode
Thematically seemed to deal a lot
With the note I wrote down
With suffocation
You know like it starts
off in the drowning of Silco, her being reminded of being born and reborn in the water
baptized in season one and now letting him go surrendering to the water where he felt like he
was born again as well. That's where he was born again and dies. And then as she's going
through like her own little nightmarish world, a cool little music video. And then when she's
in her own little workshop and that smoke thing comes in again, suffocation. It's like looking for
air out of that tightness that I associate with grief where you have to kind of remind yourself
to keep breathing through it and there the that she kind of finds her like air her ability
to breathe in the final moments which I thought was really cool and so much of like the outcome
of the future of this whole what the hell you call it country a continent what is this whole
society I guess yeah the built over and understood because they're all one
yeah yeah but i don't know what you're called it because yeah this is like they look like
like pilt over like beverly hills and and and just like i guess you just call it like a nation
yeah piltover like is a nation unto itself that seems to include but yeah very much separates
itself from what is now known as on or the people of the underworld under well the outcome
of the future really is now for whatever will become of this will this roman empire actually fall
And where, what is the path for what people actually want?
And I feel like this little kid serves as kind of a demonstration for that.
Because while Jinks is hunted by both people in the undercity and while people on top side as well, hunting her,
there's this kid who clearly looks at her as their hero.
And will Jinks be looked at as a hero in this uprising, especially with now there's an allegiance that is defined now with
I forgot her name again already
The one with the arm
Yeah
Something like Marika or something like that
But now that the allegiance is
Strongly defined with her
Will they be what Silco ultimately
Couldn't be because towards the end of season one
There was a lot of talk about
Or Silco lost his way
And his path even though he was on the verge
Of finally getting them more freedom
He ultimately wasn't going to surrender it
Because they wanted jinx
will there be some type of path that they feel that they can form
will there be a new allegiance that forms in the name of of jinx in a way
I can see that yeah I mean and will jinx be open to what the offering of that mantle
means almost because she looks at herself as such a villain and such a
jinx to everything and you know people who get close to me always die
yeah but also if enough people sort of see her at
this beacon of light and this potential savior could that what what will that do to her soul to her healing to her grief exactly exactly so i think it's cool that they finally are getting along and her moment was awesome there's a character in um in hunter hunter yeah with uh what was his name there's a whole season's wrapped around saving this guy's life the dude who like got beheaded and and gone wanted to save oh just kite have the lottery kite was the one with the lottery oh i thought it was shoot who had the lot
either way no kite has the lottery one where it's like every single time it's a different
weapon yeah before he gets his head cut off spoilers for hunter but uh he had felt like such a
it also felt like with like a league of leg of i'm not i haven't played league of legends but like
mobile gaming and stuff like that it's like yeah it kind of feels like that you know there's a
gaming element and i forget like arcane so supersedes like being a video game adaptation that
yeah you don't even really think about it and i'm like oh yeah there's that video game element
to it. Yeah, totally.
Makes you want to play that.
Yeah, yeah. I still have never played League of Legends.
And so I love seeing, I love the visuals there.
The action scenes were really awesome.
And even just the visuals of how much darker Caitlin is becoming just from that action moment that she has.
Like, she has no dialogue here.
Just that one moment of just needing to take that shot and really, like, I really want to kill this person.
And if I get this opportunity to take the shot, I will take it.
Yeah, we'll make that mistake again, yeah.
Yeah, so I really loved it.
I thought it was another really strong episode.
Yeah, Victor, it's becoming maybe a real Jesus or maybe a false prophet.
Who knows?
Maybe the magic's controlling because we fear the magic.
I'm a little concerned for the magic.
I feel like it could be malevolent.
It could be.
Yeah, I wonder if there will be like a battle for his soul.
Like, you know, your goodness, your inherent goodness is what is staving off the magic from becoming worse.
but the magic is formidable and it could consume you.
Because the whole thing, it's a parallel for, like,
healing the lepers.
Yeah.
You know.
So we're drug addicts lepers?
Just lepers get addicted to drugs.
Because what else are you going to do down here
in the dregs of society?
Yeah.
Down in the gutter.
I got to take away the pain somehow.
Yeah, so this was the first one to kind of have a little bit of Christian imagery to it.
Obviously, the death of Silco arms out.
Christ yeah and then so it ends off with like a Christ dying for his cause sure um
viewed himself as a Christ and then you have um an actual Christ walk in the streets that
and I love the the combination of imagery because yeah he does look on the one hand like yeah
just like a prophet emerging from the darkness but also he looks like the Grim Reaper you know
with that staff and the way it's crooked over like a scythe because you know it right
resembles his crutch, but also resembles, yeah, the siph.
Yeah, that's a good point, the dual meaning of it, because, yeah, he could be, he could be good, but ultimately, the magic seems to be dictating a lot of his choices now.
Yeah.
And if the magic has full control, like, what power, how much dominion will it rain over the entire situation?
Because a lot of this has been about trying to control magic, but what happens when magic takes control?
And where is, I am curious to know where Sky is.
in all of this because you know her death her dusting is so kind of dramatic i was never
real it's all the figment of arthur's imagination has always been in victors yeah jace was like
i would love that flashback sequence yeah yeah yeah moment killed sky and part of it was like i didn't
even notice shannon clocked in i barely noticed she worked here at all yeah yeah i it makes me wonder if her
soul jelly is somewhere in there and whether that's a legitimate thing or if there's some
kind of trick of the magic using your subconscious to manipulate you like there's yeah there's a lot
of fun and interesting questions that come off that for sure for sure anyway guys we're going to
watch our cane episode three right now um what did you guys think about this do you guys think
victor is a profit for good or is he just a capitalist leader he up my thoughts down here to make a quick buck
in the poorest place
in this damnation
that's what we've been trying
to say this whole time
snake oil salesman
that's what victory is
yeah he's been a hustler
since he was a kid
this whole relationship
with Jays
just a ruse
this was the plan all along
to launch my empire
did you guys think
your thoughts to have a little
talk show
yeah
yeah manser
