We love you.
What do we watch, Andrew?
We watched Bad Boys Ride or Dad.
Awesome.
Terra.
Terra, Tara, Tara, Tara.
What you want to know.
What you want to know for this review.
I want to know your point of view.
I want to know what you thought of the movie.
I love this movie.
Shut up.
If you, literally, if there's anyone who comes up to me
and they're like, I think it was all right, get out.
We are not going to be friends.
We do not belong together.
It was amazing cinematography.
They used all practical, like, amazing explosions.
The drone shots were insane.
The stunt work on this, I can't imagine how many rehearsals they had to do for the amount of long shots that they had in this.
It reminded me, John Wick 4 had a very long shot over the head through this, like, room, they're doing all the action.
They did some juice like that in here in the water park or whatever, and it was just, it was insane.
It just, I loved every part of it.
The fact that they did, what really blew my mind is the POV when they're going through and they're having the guns together.
They go off, they go back, flip the camera around.
go on to Will Smith, then they flip it back, they go on to the gun, the gun flies across the
room, and it all feels as though we are with that moment and it never, it like is never ending.
It's insane. I want to watch a BTS of this movie to see how they shot it. How did they do
it? And how long did it take just to do that one thing? I would give them all the money in the
world. I would be like, I'll be a producer forever because you deliver.
and I love you for that.
Andrew, as someone who has such a keen eye for action,
what do you think about Tara's words?
And what would you add on to it?
What would you rank the action in all the Bad Boys movies?
I mean, I love the car chase.
You can talk now.
Thank you.
I really do love the car chase scene in Bad Boys 2
and a lot of the action in that film
and just the action and the other three films are fantastic,
but this was just on another level.
having watched this film and the third film I said it in the third film and I will repeat again
this makes me so devastated and sad that we will never get to see bad girl I just think these
directors are incredible with what they can do with not only action but the emotional drama
and the stakes like they really know how to direct just everything and balance it all out I really
love the undertone as well with the theme of forgiveness in this film you got with Mike just
forgiving himself for Captain Howard's death
and feeling responsible for it.
And then you also got Captain Howard's daughter
who Greg accused of being the murder
or the entire red traitor.
I still stand by.
Yes, she probably still is.
We'll find that on the next film.
But, you know, again, I really love
that they were going with this theme.
I thought it was very appropriate, especially.
And I love how this circled back to Bad Voice too
with, you know, the Haitians and the ecstasy
and all that stuff and just the drug.
And also with the third movie as well.
I just thought they did a good job with that.
And I like how they inserted Captain Howard
into the plot.
And in the film as well, I think it was very appropriately done.
And it just, again, it added emotional stakes.
It added emotional drama, especially with Mike and with Marcus,
and also with his daughter and the granddaughter.
And I really love what they did with Armando's character as well.
I mean, you've got a stone cold killer here, as Marcus pointed out in the film.
And to give him the character development and, you know,
the catharsis that we got for Captain Howard's daughter in that moment,
because I could really feel the intensity in her character and the anger.
Like, understandably so, if someone had done that to my father and I had him right in my sights
and then my daughter pleaded with me not to do that because he had saved her life,
like that is a very difficult decision.
And then again, the catharsis that she got in that moment knowing that he had saved,
like turned to 180 and saved his, uh, her daughter's life.
That was an incredible impactful moment for me.
Like I was just not expecting that.
I also really like, I'll let you get going in a second, but I really loved also what they
did. I thought for
I thought
that it was Reed Richards from the beginning
but I love that it kept
on juggling like wait, could it be reading?
I love when films do that when you're
not entirely sure because it's so obvious
that it is Reed Richards
that, wait, maybe it's not because it's
so obvious and I love when films juggle with that
like damn it's playing mind games with me
and I think this film just executed that
perfectly. Keeps you guessing.
Yeah, keeps you guessing.
really no really Greg what do you what do you have to say about what do you have to you think about it alba
i've i mean with that twist though i i think that they didn't really try to do anything to stray you away
from thinking it just seemed like it was so obviously him that that's the only reason i questioned it
was like well this is so obviously this guy that it can't be him it's too obvious but i still enjoyed
it i thought the movie was a lot of fun the action scenes um i feel like this movie was designed for the action
scenes. This movie looks like a film, feels like a film that was specifically, I don't know, sometimes you think of a movie and then they, then they insert action and then other times they might have action scenes in mind and then they build a movie around it. I sort of feel like that's what we got here because this reached a whole new terrain for me from what I recall from the bad boys movies. You go all spiritual in this one. You go on metaphysical and I, and it seemed like it wasn't done for sincere purposes, but for comedic enhancement purposes. But then at times it is sincere.
like seeing the captain in the afterlife and then Mike seeing him too at the very end when he's saying like it's not your fault and then you even have this like donkey post credit scene it's like a joke scene and so to have that element in there and then these like high stakes technology where the captain apparently had all these technology equipment to encode things and they're able to leave like a trail so it went to a whole new
territory and it seemed like to take a lot of inspiration from some david aer's uh action movies like
beekeeper and then it seemed like uh you know mission impossible the keeper purge john wick a lot of
different things but i think the they did bring something new i didn't really feel it in the club
fight the first one but every following action scene seemed like there was uh like the camera
like the eye of the camera was very unique to the film you know i
I was talking with John about it just yesterday about
how we get spectacle so easily now.
It seems like they could bring anything to life
that it doesn't feel especially tomorrow.
He's like, what makes it feel special?
I'm like, well, I think what makes films often feel special now
was where the hell can you place a camera?
Like Top Gun Maverick, you know?
It's like, wow, we're putting this on the planes.
This is crazy, you know?
Like there's this trailer for Brad Pitt's new car racing movie
and you're like watching this.
You're like, wow, look where they can put the camera.
And then here, you're like, wow, look at all the items
that are putting the camera on in the action scenes.
it just makes it feel more real and tangible.
So that was great.
The performer stand out to me was Martin Lawrence by far as a performer.
And I thought he was hilarious.
And I enjoyed the scenes with Will Smith and Martin Lawrence.
And of course, Will Smith's great in the action.
I'm curious, though, guys.
What did you guys think about Will Smith's presence and performance in this one?
I mean, I think it was definitely more of Martin Lawrence's, like, time to shine in this movie,
except for
I did really like
his instincts when he's
down on the ground
having a pan attack
at the amusement park
and he sees the captain
he starts to tear up
and he has to like slap him out of it
you know I need I need mean Mike
and you do see Will Smith go from
he's panicking to like he gets
kind of sad what the F and then he
wakes up and I really thought that
that was more of a highlight scene
for Will Smith
Rejectation. Some of you guys have been so kind to point out, Greg, you look like you've been getting in better shape lately.
And Greg, you look like you've been pointing that out a lot more than we've been pointing that out lately.
That's because I've been getting products that have allowed me to casually mention that.
But with all that exercise comes a lot of sweat, and let's be honest.
Nobody wants to smell bad, especially when we're in close quarters filming proximity to one another.
That's why I've been using the Mando products.
Heard a lot about them and I was like, please send them my way.
And as a vegetarian, it makes me so happy that they are all natural.
They're high quality.
And man, do they get the job done?
First up, the Mando Whole Body.
There's a little hair here.
Ew, that's gross.
The Mando Whole Body Deodorant.
It's safe to use anywhere.
Why wouldn't it be its deodorant?
It controls odor for up to 72 hours.
Keeps me fresh and feeling confident.
Now my wife finally cuddles with me.
This next one, I really like.
The Mando Invisible Cream Deodent Pro Sport.
Cream is perfect for intense workouts.
It keeps it dry, smelling great without residue.
My wife finally holds hands with me in public.
This one straight at the shower.
The Mando Acidified Cleansing.
bar. It's fantastic. 4-1 powerhouse for shampoo, face wash, body wash, and deodorant. It leaves my
skin fresh and clean, and my wife finally lets me shower in the same shower she uses. I don't have to
go to the hotel anymore. For quick refreshes, the Mando deodorant wipes. Perfect for on the go,
gentle on the skin. And my wife finally let me meet the in-laws after using them. And lastly,
the Mando Body Wash. Provides a rich lather and 24-hour odor control. The scent is incredible
and leaves my skin smooth. My wife actually calls me by my name and the
bedroom now. If you want to stay fresh and confident, get Mando. You can get $5 off at the Mando
starter pack with code Rejects at shopmando.com. That's 40% off. Trust me, you and everyone around
you will appreciate it. You can use code rejects at shopmando.com and get $5 off your starter
pack. So stay fresh, everyone. Or did she call me Steven? That was gross. That was my father's
name. I thought Will Smith brought a different vibe to, you know, the character of Michael
Lowry, which I appreciate in this one. He's definitely developed a lot more. I mean,
He's not the player that he is in the first three films.
He's settled down, but also he's a lot more reserved in that, you know, he's dealing with this PTSD now with the captain.
And I thought Will Smith really brought, you know, a touch to that.
And I think the scenes where I felt it the most were in those moments where he had the PTSD.
So I thought that's where he really got to stretch out his acting range a lot more than in the other scenes where, you know, he just did the action sequences, which again, he was fine.
But I agree with you that Martin Lawrence was definitely the standout.
And I love what you pointed out earlier that he felt very liberated that he was invincible, you know, after he had that near-death heart attack.
So I loved what he did in that.
And obviously, my favorite moment in the film is the meta-slap.
That was hysterical.
That seemed like a great way to poke funer really like.
Yeah, for sure.
And I got to say, I love that they took a character that, such a nerdy character, but a character that was made fun of in the second film by Marcus and Mike Reggie.
He had such a cool, badass.
moment and again I wasn't sure
if many of you were expecting if
you did awesome on you I was not
expecting him to be John Wick style badass
like this but that was freaking awesome
and again it just adds a different
layer to when you rewatch the series and now you
see this kid taking out Marcus's
daughter on a date and they're just making
fun of him and just and now it's
like holy shit this guy's going to grow up to be
a serious badass and I just
I think it's so cool and I really
and again he didn't have a ton of screen time
but every second count and like
I love that they gave him this due.
Except the screen time that he got in this movie
made up for all the lack of the screen time
that he had in one and two and three.
So this movie, I'm like, heck yeah.
They gave him some work.
Or two or whatever.
Consult him in what movie season.
Don't ever consult me.
The movies that he was and was very limited,
I would, in being his character in coming back,
he's never had a lot of leeway,
a lot of lines, a lot of screen time.
This time he actually got to go out with a bang,
meaning like, if I were him, I'd be like, yeah, I'm in the bad boys movies,
but you're like, kind of like, I show up at a door to take a daughter out.
In this one, you're like, I'm in bad boys.
Like, I would be toting it all around because that was such a highlight scene for him.
Yeah, no, he's not here to take a daughter.
I'm here to take 15 bad guys out by himself.
Yeah, I love that.
It's so awesome.
I think they've embraced kind of this more heightened universe that the bad boys movies live in.
Especially with him, because I like how they introduce, reintroduce him as, he's viewed as lazy.
He's just playing games and eating chips.
He's on the couch the whole time.
And even though he drops the line about having that, was it, Navy?
What was the background?
It was Navy or Marines.
I think it was Marine Corps.
I think it was Marine Corps.
Yeah.
It's having that Marine Corps background, it's just a line drop that it does come as an unexpected surprise and does feel very cathartic when he is whooping all that ass on.
I thought that was a great moment.
And I do agree that Will Smith was bringing a lot more of the drama to it, a lot more of the weight.
And I appreciated the intention to it.
At the same time, I did feel myself kind of missing the, like Bad Boys is part of it.
It's the action comedy movie, you know, and a big part of that action comedy is the chemistry between Will Smith and Martin Lawrence.
and I
it's probably because of who the character is in this film
I did miss a little bit more of the fun
Will Smith like of that charismatic Will Smith
that I think here's the thing with the movie
where I thought it wasn't
I think when there was action happening
or comedy happening
it was really engaging
the stuff that was more
just serious investigative things
was like things to fill in the runtime
that were interesting enough
where I wasn't bored, but I wouldn't say I was strongly engaged in it.
Some of the more dramatic stuff might have been the father and son things, even though it's
like cliche and predictable, it's still enjoyable.
And so, yeah, I do think that some of those moments in there could have been a little
stronger just to make the overall film, like, really sore for me.
But the action and the comedy is the main thing you show up for here.
So those are really good.
I would be lying to myself if I said, like, there wasn't, there was a bit of a Will Smith charm that I did feel this movie was kind of missing, actually, from him.
But then again, he's going through, like, sad, you know, Mike Lowry thing that they're doing with him.
You just want to see him hook up.
Human and Real all the sudden with him.
Just want to see him hook up with a bunch of checks, Greg.
We know it.
In Buccini.
In Bad Boys, too, he has the lies with Gabriel Union.
Yeah, I do, I just think that, is it.
is a choice they made for the movie,
but it kind of weighs the energy of some of those scenes down
because of how, like, despondent he is the entire time.
But, yeah, and overall, really fine.
I could see why people love this movie.
It fully delivers on what you want.
Where would you rank this in the four?
I want to know right now.
Oh, my God, dude, I would totally rank this as, like, number, you know, two.
What's your first one?
Bad Boys 2.
Oh.
I would put three, three or this one.
I'm going to put this one at the top.
Three maybe goes after it because the emotional scenes that we got in that movie completely just sold me on how you can do drama and emotion mixed with action and hilariousness in like with a perfect pacing and tone.
The way that they move through that movie, obviously they're brilliant at directing all of those things in making it work.
So I would go four three
And then I don't know
I wanted to throw them in there
Alright so Tara
What are some fun
Andrew I know you want to rank it
I know you want to rank it
I would go with Tara on that
I would go four three and it's really close
You put this as your favorite
Yeah I would
Wow you guys both this are your favorite
I would go four three and then two one
I put this as my fourth favorite
At the four then
Cool
Just to piss you guys off
So look
You guys watch them all recently
So you know better than me
We all know that we'll know that we'll know
that Will Smith, yes, he's repeatedly slapped across the face. It is a very obvious callback
to the 94th Annual Academy Awards. So in the scene where Mike and Armando are squaring up,
Marcus instructs him to break apart on the count of three. Both Mike and Armando break on two,
something Mike does repeatedly throughout the previous films. I had forgotten about that.
In Bad Boys 2, Reggie is intimidated by Mike and Marcus upon first meeting them and that he
couldn't date Megan if they couldn't fight.
This film concludes with the table's turn,
the pair now intimidated by Reggie,
who killed 15 hitmen earlier in the film.
Good call. I like that.
Let's see.
There's some cameos, but we knew who they were.
I'll read, there's not much trivia on this film.
I read one more.
Quite unusually, the movie was released
barely three months after the completion of filming.
It's more typical for major action movies
to complete filming a year or more ahead of its release,
if only to handle all the post-production,
We're, yeah, I'm, like, going insane here.
But in this case, all of the most complicated sequences were finished prior to the 2023 sag after strike.
So the directors and crew were able to finish nearly the rest of the film before the remaining scenes were shot in early 2024.
Yeah, I was going to.
Because I was like, there's no freaking way.
So during the strike, they were editing and stuff.
Yeah, okay.
That makes more sense.
It was like, how could they do all this in three months?
Yeah.
They were the ones that were working during the strike.
You're like, well, since we got nothing to do, let's just work.
Amazing, amazing.
Well, guys, there you have it.
For the true bad boys fans, this is number one on the list.
Thank you guys for joining all three of us on this bad boy's journey.
I had a great time being here with you guys the entire time.
I hated it.
I thought it was like a total blast.
I'm glad that I get to be here to close out this franchise here.
And thank you guys for.
letting me be here with you.
You're welcome, Greg.
Don't hurry to go to rejectation shop.com to get your gear, babies.
Get some shit.
Come on now.
Follow this girl on her YouTube channel, Tara Erickson, where she's covering.
In my Insta.
Reality shows.
I am.
And her Insta where sometimes she poses in a bikini and then you end up muting those posts.
Because you're like, don't want to see that again.
You're like, never.
No.
And then Andrew, he has an only fans page.
It's really, really great.
It's him usually sitting on the toilet.
He's holding a baseball bat with a baseball and he keeps his shirt on.
$9.99 a month, guys.
$9.99 a month.
And he replies to every message.
Every single one.
So, guys, he shows his support up in seriousness.
He has a YouTube channel called the Movie Source channel.
They're doing trivia where he's shirtless on the toilet and holds a baseball bat.
Exactly.
Thank you guys so much for being here.
I'm John Humphrey.
See you guys.
Thank you.
