Starring Taylor Kitsch as Captain Alex Hopper (Friday Night Lights, X-Men Origins: Wolverine), our daring hero leads the charge with courage and wit. Starting point is 00:01:00 Oh my God, that's right. WonderCon. Run by the same people who do Comic-Con, so it seems like it might be a pretty big event. Real Rejects is going to be there. Late afternoon, early evening, they did give it time, but that tends to change, but it usually hovers around the same time frame.
Starting point is 00:01:15 So I'm saying late afternoon, early evening. Come say hi. At this point, all the rejects are scheduled to go, and some don't even know that yet. But you guys know before some of they do. It's their job. They have to be there. Or else they're out of here.
Starting point is 00:01:28 They get fired. You get fired. You get fired. You don't show up to WandaCon. You get fired. You get fired. You don't got to get that Pite Check, uh? Anyway, so get your Wondercont ticket to enjoy the event. Check out all the other panels with people who are bigger than ourselves,
Starting point is 00:01:42 but then come to ours and say hi after because we want the attention. We need to feel special and validated. We want to interact. We do it for us, not for you. No. Thank you to Huell for sponsoring this video. More on them in just a bit. Did you sink a lot of battleships?
Starting point is 00:02:01 No, but I'm ready to sync this movie battleship. Oh, no. Okay, well, battleship commence. Well, guys, we just watched Battleship. So if you are listening on Apple or Spotify, make sure you sync those battleships and give us five. Star ratings, we would appreciate it. Also, if you want cool teas. these make sure you go to reject nation shop.com you can get some cool merch at all
Starting point is 00:02:33 did you have so much fun because I had so much fun I'm not I know we were joking I really actually did have fun I had a good time I was entertaining I honestly I had I had a fun time seriously I know we said that like a few times but he did say it a few times we just said a few times did you have fun though go ahead I had time go ahead and express your yourself please okay I'm gonna start with some positives okay I'll start with some positive things I think oh that was
Starting point is 00:03:02 Brooklyn Decker I think this movie does a great job of honoring the military with the Navy and the army and and showing like veterans who've gone through through war and like with the prosthetics and everything
Starting point is 00:03:18 they did a great job with that the CG is cool I like some of the score Rihanna did a good job acting And the composer of Transformers Jesse Plymins is always great Are you reading out of positives, Aaron?
Starting point is 00:03:36 I'm getting there. Okay. All right. The action was cool. Sometimes. Um, uh, this movie didn't have a soul.
Starting point is 00:03:52 What are you talking about? We had fun. This will be in this movie I'm not going to lie I was I was trying I think you made it fun I think us watching it together made it fun
Starting point is 00:04:02 but this this feels like a TV movie not not made for TV but it feels like a a movie that plays on FX like at 3 in the morning or that you're watching the background there
Starting point is 00:04:18 that sounds like something we should try sometime yeah we should definitely uh yeah dude and just I didn't care about anything or anyone in the movie. I cared about Brooklyn Decker's character a lot, but I don't know if... What was that? Sam? Which one was Sam?
Starting point is 00:04:38 The really gorgeous blonde. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. She was, I mean, she was there. You know, they made a subplot for to give the girlfriend and make something to do. Yeah, I actually liked the brother character out of Alexander Scarsgard. I thought they'd have moved a little bit of a good. character and Drew's is like, it was all right. Yeah, a little bit. But it felt like, okay, what of the, the plot points? We need to make a film. Yeah. And like, we want to honor the military and I want to adapt this board game into a movie. I'm not disagreeing with anything you're saying. I actually
Starting point is 00:05:11 agree with just about everything you've said, but because the movie let us know in the first five minutes, hey, we are not taking itself seriously. That's the thing, though, Andrew. Like, in the first five minutes, okay, we had the, the bit like, okay, he's like funny and he's goofy. We're going to want to make you laugh. You know, most of it wasn't very funny, but it was like, it was entertaining. But then I feel like the movie was taking itself very seriously when we're like in the heat of it. And I was like, okay, we're taking this whole thing very serious. And we have no characters that have actually attached ourselves. Right. And the only reason I say that as a comparison is because we have, we have alien invasion movies like Independence Day,
Starting point is 00:05:43 which is like the pinnacle of like what this type of film can be with the military versus aliens. And I feel like it didn't hold a candle to that type of four. Yeah. And I'm not going I mean, I understand the comparison, transformers and, you know, and independence, I understand the comparison because it's in that type of vein. So I'm not going to compare it. I will say yes, it did have the contrast of, hey, in the first five minutes, we're not, like, look how goofy this is. We're not going to take itself seriously. And then in the heavier action sequences, and then with the brother, it's like, okay, it is kind of taking itself a little bit seriously. But again, it didn't, it didn't bother me. I understand what you're saying, but I mean, look, there's not really any characters
Starting point is 00:06:29 in the movie. It was ridiculous. But again, having said that, I love the action sequences. I had a good entertaining fun time. Like, I shut my brain off and I had fun. Like, that's the key thing. I really wish, I know we said it quite a few times, but I really do wish I would have seen this in 3D. They were really good. Like that, I really appreciated that. I appreciate the scope of the film as well. And one other thing, too, we did mention it as well, I would have loved if they would have, because they showed it in the end battle. Maybe it would have been tedious if they did it too many times, but I'm glad that they leased it towards the end. I love seeing the perspective from the aliens inside their ship when they were strategizing how to fire onto the humans
Starting point is 00:07:11 and stuff like that, because like sticking with the humans the entire time, obviously we're on their side and all that, but that can also be tedious as well, even though we're on their side. It's just, it's interesting perspective-wise, just to get an inside look onto how they're, you know, strategizing in order to fight as well. So, you know, what makes them tick and, you know, how they fight and stuff. So I thought that was fascinating, like to get a little glimpse of it. I would have liked a little more exploration onto that. But, yeah, and I agree with you. I do like that the movie does honor and respect the Navy and all that.
Starting point is 00:07:43 That was great. um reject nation i currently am on a very specific macro plan calories fat carbs protein you know the goods and what's very fortunate for me some of the brands that we have partnered with recently are products that i've already been using so throughout this journey i want to keep you guys updated on my health and fitness goals january 25th i was 218 pounds at the time of filming this one just under 198 a little lighter than the last time i mentioned today's sponsor baby that's right i already had already tore it open because i just had a i won earlier today this is

Starting point is 00:09:32 Yeah, I mean, look, I didn't. I had a fun time. I know who said that a million times, but I did. It was good. Read some trivia really quick. some trivia yeah it's battleship bitch shadow ship we got so we got some some cool battles you know we got to to see some some ojeet in my name there um yeah let's see let's take a look saddle shit at a 10 what do you think this movie was on average i had a 10 yeah on 9 db
Starting point is 00:10:08 I'm going to give it like a 5.6, 5.8. Oh, I was looking 5 or 6. Hey, okay, I was right in the middle of me. Aaron and I play the Rotten Tomatoes game. Aaron, tell everyone how close I usually am. He's usually one point off. Oh, like literally always a point higher or point out. All right, I read like 5 or 6.
Starting point is 00:10:27 Is that cool? Sure, yes. Why, okay. So the veterans of the USS Missouri that Stonehopper mentions are real-life vets of the USS Missouri, some served in World War II. You called that. In March 2012, Army Colonel Gregory D. Gatson, who plays retired Army Lieutenant Colonel Mick Knauz, you also called that, became garrison commander of Fort Belvoir, just south of Washington, D.C. Colonel Gatson is the first bilateral amputee to serve as a garrison commander to any post in the United States Army. Man.
Starting point is 00:11:02 Hopper's orders to drop the port anchor in order to rapidly swing the ship around to the opposite direction is a real-life maneuver. known as club hauling. It's a very risky, but allows the ship to retack in combat or an emergency. Club hauling was used almost exclusively on sailing ships, which were much lighter and easier to steer. A club haul on an Iowa-class bow ship would likely cause severe damage and injury. I was thinking that. I'll do two more. The inspiration for the design of the alien ships was water bugs. Interesting. Okay. Let's see. Peterberg wanted to cast Rihanna after seeing her Diane Sawyer. interview following her battering by then-boyfriend Chris Brown.
Starting point is 00:11:42 Berg was convinced that if the singer could negotiate a tricky interview like that, she would make a good heptress. Interesting. Okay, but she thought she did good. Yeah, no, she was fine, and she had one of the best lines in the movie, Mahala, Mother. So I like that line, too.
Starting point is 00:11:56 But like I said, if you don't take this stupid movie too seriously and shut your brain off, I think it's a fun entertaining time. But, again, I agree with a lot of the sentiments. So you make any final thoughts? that exists battleship
Starting point is 00:12:12 battleship yeah but hey what did you guys think of this film um is it one of your favorite alien invasion films are there other ones you'd like Aaron myself any other members of the team to react to what are some of your favorite
Starting point is 00:12:25 3D films that have ever come out too I'd love to is this is this up there because again I thought even though we didn't get the 3D effect I really thought it would be effective in theater so we'd love to hear your thoughts in the comments section if you have stayed on uh well if you are still listening to us rather we appreciate you staying on this long much love and uh we'll catch you guys next time later david david there was a man who i would trust
Starting point is 00:12:54 to complete a battleship against aliens it would be david gandie a hundred percent apparently people shot a reaction to this movie and i don't remember that happened but damn that's crazy That's how that happened, yeah. And the idea that Gandy is going to be able to, everything about David, I feel like this would be the culmination of a life experience from using music as a way to create sonic sound waves to confuse them. Yeah. From his martial art skills to hand on ham, welcome to earth. Yeah. Can't wait to see him pull it off.
Starting point is 00:13:31 Yeah, and his photography skills would also come in handy. To his Christianity to be able to call on God to summon lightning, to strike them all down. Spart the seas, even though it's somewhat messing with his belief system, the fact that he's fighting creatures from another planet. Nah. David would be the perfect person to lead this battleship.
Starting point is 00:13:49 Oh, my God. Imagine David giving orders to Rihanna. It'd be crazy. It would work. Yeah, it would definitely work. It would work. Imagine giving orders to Liam Neeson. Liam Neeson would definitely listen.
Starting point is 00:14:00 Like, it takes a lot of authority to override that level of authority. Yeah. Got it, man. What's the popular Rihanna song? Umbrella. Not that one. Desperado? Desperado.
Starting point is 00:14:14 What's a fun? S&M. I forget what it's called. Doesn't matter. I don't be rude, boy, boy. No. It starts off Desperado. I can't pull it.
Starting point is 00:14:26 Okay. Battleship. Despacito. Dave Ganny. Thank you.
