Where's the picture of me?
me on here. I don't know what they were thinking
of the she-jacks, but still, very cool
stuff. Go over and support them.
There's a lot of great stuff. So, we've been waiting
since 1988. I think it was way
too long. I should have got in Hawaiian, but still
this is still a great addition. Who wants
to go first?
Terry, you can go first.
Sorry, I just,
it's great. I
really like this movie. I'm so glad
that Catherine O'Hara was back. If she wasn't,
I would have been way more sad. I
love her so stinking much.
I think that Wednesday is, I mean, she got a lot of attention from being in Wednesday and now in this movie, I'm like, she deserves all of it. I think she's such a phenomenal actress. And of course, Keaton, it's like, didn't he say, like, when he did Birdman, he was like, I'm retired. And I'm like, I'm so glad that he's back in this movie. I really, really like the plot. And I'm, my favorite part is when they were like, is when Beetlejuice was like, see you later, fucker. And that.
guy who killed his parents who was trying to swindle Wednesday went down on the hole I was like
that's the best great writing the pacing was really really good um oh is this a post adams family
no it's not it's not in do with no it's another oh my god I believe it's uh Jeremy Frazier
I just got really distracted I thought I was a post credit scene uh but you I thought it was a great
movie uh it didn't feel like I think it was like an hour and 45 minutes didn't feel like it
I liked it.
I had a lot of fun.
And I'm really glad that they did, like,
call back,
that the scenery and the sets looked the same.
Like, serious nostalgia.
I love that so much.
Speaking of Wednesday.
Hey, there's Wednesday.
I know.
There's another one.
Abbas family values.
Anyways, Aaron,
I better not hear any negativity.
I'm going to be very,
very upset with you.
What did you think of the film?
I liked it.
I would say I didn't love it,
but I didn't like it.
what's going on here oh boy um i felt like this had a lot happening and i feel like it was a little
unfocused but i think all of the creativity on display made an entertaining watch i was
i for the for most the movie i was i was engaged the entire time but i feel like for like towards
like the beginning the end of the first act beginning of the second act i was like okay this is like
was a little slow but then afterward it kept picking up for me i felt like it had
to a lot of elements going on and were introduced a lot of characters.
I feel like Willem Defoe didn't, he was funny, but he didn't really add to the plot.
I think the whole thing with the wife, the ex-wife was kind of an afterthought.
And yeah, it was just an array of different ideas, but I feel like the movie didn't really have a sense of grounding.
And I wish we would have had more focus going throughout the plot.
and also wish that Lydia would have come to the decision to leave the douchebag on her own
and not have Beetlejuice come in to save her to interrupt that because I feel like that
kind of robs her of her power taking her independence away yeah well first of all I do
going back to my normal voice I don't want to lose it um I do agree with that I was thinking
that and again I get it she was grief stricken he'd emotionally manipulated her throughout the
entire film I do I did like the scene itself like using the truth
serum just to show what a tushbaggy was but i mean we could all see what a douchebag he was before that
but um i agree with you i think that did kind of rob her power and just one other thing
i understand they gave us a line that the loophole and all that i really did miss having the
maitland's in here and again they didn't have to be a humongous part of the film or anything
but i really feel like having them in the first film because the film's very the first film is
extremely supernatural as is this film but they really even though they're ghosts in that movie they
really ground the film their humanity in that film and i i really feel that was a really integral part
of this film that was a little bit missing having said that i still really i had great joy and i still
found this film very entertaining and fun michael keaton just did a fun i mean katherine o'hare to all
them they just did a great job of after 36 years stepping back into these roles and not missing a beat
um and i think jen jenna ortega was a great addition i really liked her character and i think they
did a great job of making us to understand. I mean, there was some exposition, but
I mean, even without the exposition, I understand why there was such a riff between her and
her mother. And it was just, the motivation was completely clear. And like, it was resonating
to me, like, why she felt that way, even though we as an audience, like, understand where
Lydia was coming from in terms of we've experienced what she's experienced as an audience
through the first film. But also, too, you can get behind what Astrid is feeling because
she doesn't feel like she has her mother, really. Because she's so married to this life of,
of with ghosts and all that's like you're still mother first you got to be there for your daughter
and I like that that's the arc she came to by the end of the film and her daughter was the most
important thing so like that spoke to me and I really did appreciate that the film did touch
upon that I love that the movie to not a lot of CGI did mostly with the 1988 film relied
more on practical effects stop motion animation which is like speaks to my heart and soul
because I just, I love practical and stop motion.
Obviously, if you can sporadically use CGI and just blend the two, that's, that always makes me happy,
which I think, yeah, they did a great job.
Yeah, the CGI shot.
I liked Monica Balucci in the movie.
She was, like, scary.
She was threatening.
She was gorgeous.
And I thought it was cool that they went into a little bit of the backstory.
It wasn't a ton, but they showed us rather than told us how they, how him and his wife met,
how he died and got to become Beetle Juice.
Like, I found out to be interesting.
interesting. I just didn't like the long. And again, I get there was so much going on with the
plot. So I understand it's a tough, you know, position to be in. But I didn't like, like,
there were a couple times we're like, is she still in the movie? Could you say, could you say
what the plot of this movie is in a sentence? No. This would be the hardest. When you make a
film, you have to write a tagline for it, right? Taglines are the hardest. Like, people hire other
people to be like, write the tagline for my film. I don't know what it would say.
To both your points, I think the first film, two people die.
They become ghost and they want to scare the people that have now moved into their house.
Yeah, I think that what makes the first movie so special, in my opinion.
And this is, I'm coming watching this movie, not someone who grew up with Beetlejuice,
but as someone who just watched it for the first time like a month ago, right?
I really like the first movie because of its simplicity.
It's very simplistic.
The plot is really simplistic, but you have these characters you're endeared to.
And they used the simplicity of its plot to then allow themselves to explore.
the weirdness of this world but this wants to explore the weirdness and have kind of a convoluted
plot with a bunch of different elements and i feel like though it gives that elements of heart i feel
like it could have focused up a little bit more to give us more of those things like we had a
i was already thinking like damn there's a lot going on and then we introduced the side
plot of having the ghost serial killer boyfriend i'm like damn we're introducing another character
and then we get back but that's kind of just used as a way to help them
get to the dad and then help them connect ultimately and then the whole relationship with Lydia
no with um yeah Lydia now having the the husband and I was like okay what is her arc in relation
to the husband because I don't I feel like they did that because it felt like it was building up
to something but then Beetlejuice kind of just came in and like took that whole thing and made
at the Beetlejuice show yeah and what I really liked about Beetlejuice in the first movie is that
he felt like more of a I think he first of all Michael Keaton did
great as the role he he is an actor slipped back into that role effortlessly but as far as his
utilization in the plot i felt beetlejuice in the first movie was very much a force of nature
and he added an energy of pizzazz into the movie but i feel like because this movie so
anticipated uh they wanted to include beetle juice a lot more but i felt like they in having him
in there more i feel like they they lost some of that like a kinetic energy that he brought to the first
movie. In those certain scenes, like when they called his name for the first time, and he goes
down there in the therapy office and with the scene at the wedding, I thought that stuff was
great. I liked seeing Lydia and Beetlejuice together more, but I think that overall, this movie
at the end of the day becomes a series of scenes that I really enjoyed rather than a total
experience of a film that cohesively worked for me both narratively and emotionally.
And to your point, and I'll let you get going here in a second, but to your point, but to your
point, Beatrice is only in the first film for about 17 minutes, but it feels like he's in the
movie a lot longer because it's an effective. It's a very effective 70. I remember my mind
I'd probably seen the movie about 10, 15 times when I found out, he's really only in the movie
for 17 minutes. It feels so much longer because of the way they utilize him in it. Having said
that as someone who I have, I only watched an episode or two recently, but someone who grew up and
loved the original animated show, which was produced by Tim Burton. I do like that they did try
some to do something a little bit different because him and Lydia like they are friends on that
show and they do team up. So I do like that they showed a little homage and, you know, dedication
to that show with what they were trying to do here. But I do agree with your points. I'm not saying
I disagree. But I like that they tried something different, but I do agree that he was definitely used
a little more effective. But it was interesting kind of seeing him as like that anti-hero in this one.
Yeah. In like hearing them talk about it, it's almost like they are really living up to the title, Beetlejuice,
Beetlejuice. It's almost what came to my head is they may have utilized him too much.
I think maybe what could have made this possibly better to have more heart, because I talk about
having heart in a lot of movies. I realize that it's about the mother and daughter relationship,
right? Especially their hug, exactly. At the end, you know, they're really trying to hit that home,
but I really think that could have been more emotional. Because if you do a call back to the first
movie when um they first kind of accept her as their like daughter even though their ghosts it's very
like heartwarming but it's because we took the time to meet the maitlands go around town time at home
with her right versus this movie because we introduced a lot of other side characters and because i
think that they chose to add in more beetle juice beatle juice to have him more in the in in the
movie because of course it's Michael Keaton you're like duh right my assumption is when you're
writing this you're like it's Michael Keaton it's Beetlejuice obviously we're going to bring it back
and they're going to want to add more of him in it I think it might have done them a little bit
of a disservice because it didn't give us as much time to get with Wednesday and Winona
because we would have liked to see that relationship so that the payoff at the end with the mother
daughter relationship really hits home with us in an emotional way
versus for me, I was just like, oh, that's cute.
Yeah, I feel like this movie could have, I felt like, first off,
want to say, I did like the movie.
I know I'm kind of carping a lot of my negatives.
I really enjoyed it.
I think the creativity on display was incredible.
I think a lot of the effects, the way this movie utilizes color, is all great.
I think the acting is great.
The way that Catherine O'Hara and Winona Ryder slipped back into those characters are phenomenal.
All the actors have great chemistry.
The fact that they got Jenna Ortega and Winona Ryder,
to come together not only because they kind of look similar have a similar vibe but the fact that
they worked well together when they were in the scenes was fantastic that being said I felt like Tim
Burton had 30 years worth of ideas that he wanted to do right and then he had to cut some of them down
but then he's like oh but we can put that back in oh we can put that back in and I feel like at the
by the time we get to the final product I feel like there is so much extra fat narratively that
kind of takes away from the crux of that heart being the mother-daughter story and the
re-entry into this world because i like all the stuff with them is great i love the fact that
she had resentment for her mother from for her mother because of the absence of her father
and the fact that she didn't believe in ghost herself i'm like okay let's like take that and
make that like the forefront and then have introduced these other elements slowly or like in
in a way that feels okay you know what it is when we first introduced
When we first introduced to the mailings and we start off in this normal sense, it's a little bit quirky, but for the most part, they're a normal couple.
But when we get introduced to this world, it is this, becomes this heightened experience, right?
So we have this character that is coming from this place of, I don't see this stuff.
This is my normal reality.
I'm in school.
My mom is crazy.
To have her be the point of view into the craziness, I think that would have added that
magical feeling back into the film but because this movie is like okay we have 30 30 years of
expectations we want to give the people what they want I feel like it loses some of that that magic
but maintains the weird quirky aesthetic of what Tim Burton established in the first movie and also to
the Maitlands there was a line of dialogue in there too that they were trying to have a kid so when
Lydia came into their life after they obviously couldn't because they were you know no longer
alive like that i just i love films i can execute properly on that surrogate type of uh storyline with
incorporating a child and i thought the film like really like with all the heightened craziness that
was going on the supernatural stuff like that's what i mean by the maintenance humanized that story and
with lydia uh as well and their chemistry works so well and like it added a dramatic flare to again
all the supernatural corkiness and all the crazy stuff going on that again you still felt like a human uh humanized
story was going on there and like real characters so but again i still i hope this you guys didn't
feel like we're being negative or harping on we still really enjoyed this film was a fun watch like
i really enjoyed every moment great practical effects great special effects i love the way that they
played a lot with the green and blue lighting and a lot of the scenes um uh and i love also the
cinematography there's a lot of times where they cut into when you're you're looking at bob and
you're in that world or whether you're in the hallway the black and white it's like
there's a different point of view from a camera.
Sometimes they played with a wide angle lens
and sometimes they played with a different point of view
like a,
uh,
uh,
uh,
like a,
it's felt like a fish lens at one point in a weird like Dutch angle.
They just like played around with stuff to where it didn't pull you out of the film.
It just felt like,
oh,
this is like a part of the,
the world that Tim Burton has created.
Which makes it,
um,
extra enjoyable.
Which in,
in what we've all kind of said here,
kind of flips that on its head to just go, yeah, well, I guess, you know, people are here to see
Tim Burton's work, his art that's in his head. And you just go, yeah, he did it. We got a lot of
stuff out of it, right, that you got to see. That may have dampened down what could have been maybe a
really like heartwarming, fantastic mother-daughter story. But then you're like, hey, maybe the audience
didn't really want that and they would have rather
to see all of this stuff anyway.
Fair enough. So I think it's
it's like a 50-50
depending upon what kind of
mood you're in and what you really wanted
from a Tim Burton film.
So yeah, I think we all had fun though.
Yeah, it's still really well-paced and I still found it
very fun and entertaining. Like I would still
recommend this movie to any Beetlejuice fan
or just a fan of cinema. I would say, go check
this movie out. Yeah. Enjoy it.
I agree. This is a fun new Halloween movie
to watch.
For sure.
Absolutely.
Like when I watch the first movie from this point forward, I'm going to watch this one.
And I will not say I'm not going to include this one.
Totally.
I would definitely include it too.
Yeah.
Absolutely.
All right.
Do you guys have any final thoughts or?
I don't.
Go get your spooky Cheek's sweater.
Yeah.
And follow all of us on the socials, you know.
Yes.
You know the drill.
On the books of faces.
Anyways, guys, that's going to do it for our Beodews, Beodews reaction.
I hope you enjoyed having me on.
I won't be on again.
unless they make a third film, so you better hope and pray that happens.
All right, until next time, say it once, say it twice.
Third time's a charm.
We'll see you guys later.
All right, Rejignation, here's the juice.
Years ago before they even announced Beetle juice, beetle juice,
I came up with an original pitch idea, so I want to share it here with you.
I harass Greg, and it worked because here it is.
But now I'm going back into my normal voice, because I don't want to lose my voice.
But guys, seriously, leave your thoughts down below in the comments.
I'd love to hear them.
constructive, please. But if you don't like this idea, totally fine. Here we go. So the plot of this
is going to be, what if a lonely Lydia and the infamous Beetlejuice were brought together by a
broken curse only to face a powerful force that threatens to tear them apart forever. Now,
Beetlejuice must confront his past and change his ways or risk losing the only person who truly
understands him. So that's going to be the plot. We're going to get into the setup. And now the
time, setting, and characters. So the film takes place years after.
the original Beetlejuice. Lydia is now divorced living back with Delia, Adam and Barbara in the house from the first film. Delia has gained fame for her Beetlejuice sculptures thanks to social media. Beetlejuice has become a notorious social media figure but feels more isolated than ever, as most people are only interested in him because of his fame. The undead world has changed. Ghosts now age when they share their lives with the living and are limited to 125 years.
Now we're into Beetlejuice's isolation and Lydia's loneliness.
Despite his fame, Beetlejuice realizes he's still alone.
Lydia, blocked by Beetlejuice on social media, also feels lonely post-divorce.
The curse preventing Beetlejuice from seeing Lydia breaks unexpectedly, bringing him back into her life.
To set the stakes, Jeffrey Jones' character, if he was to be included, is killed by an unknown, powerful force, upset by the dead interacting with the living.
This villain becomes a looming threat, capable of sending ghosts to a place where they can no longer interact with the living or the dead.
Now we are reuniting with Lydia and her family.
Lydia, Delia, Adam, and Barbara panic upon Beetlejuice's return.
Beetlejuice expresses his gratitude to Delia for his newfound fame and tries to reconnect with Lydia.
They turned to Juno's replacement, played by Ian McShane, for help in restraining Beetlejuice,
but learn that he's now free to bother them as much as he loves.
likes. Now we get into growing tensions. Lydia begins spending time with Beetlejuice trying to tolerate him and
explaining why his behavior is extremely problematic. Beetlejuice's antics drive the family to seek
new ways to block him. Yet Lydia starts emphasizing with his loneliness which mirrors her own.
Lydia sees glimpses of Beetlejuice's vulnerability learning about his tragic past, including how
his wife's betrayal led to him unaliving himself. This revelation resonates with
Lydia, who has also felt abandoned and misunderstood. Their friendship grows as Lydia helps Beetlejuice
understand his own behavior and its consequences. Over time, he does begin to change. The villain
makes a move against Lydia, seeing her attachment to Beetlejuice as a violation of the boundary
between the living and the dead. Beetlejuice heroically sacrifices himself to protect her,
breaking Lydia's heart and prompting her to confess her feelings for him. Act 3 is about love
and redemption. Lydia's declaration of love resurrects Beetlejuice in a new form as he returns to
look like his pre-death self, only visible to Lydia. Adam and Barbara, moved by Beetlejuice's
act of love, work to reverse the curse gaining a newfound respect for Beetlejuice. The final confrontation
with the villain, in a climactic showdown, the family faces off against the villain,
utilizing the love between Lydia and Beetlejuice to triumph. Lydia and Beetlejuice marry in a scene
filled with quirky supernatural cameos including characters like John Wick and musicians from
the wedding singer and airheads. Delia becomes more popular than ever creating sculptures of Lydia
and Beetlejuice and embracing her role as a more loving motherly figure. Adam and Barbara
now supportive walk it Lydia down the aisle accepting Beetlejuice as part of the family. The film
concludes with a wild, ghostly celebration encapsulating Beeljuice's transformation and Lydia's
newfound happiness with Beetlejuice. In a many
a twist. We have John Wick and the dog from the first film, make a final cameo, bidding farewell
to the dead ghost. So, guys, that's basically at two in the morning about six, seven years ago.
That's kind of, I spent like six, seven hours coming up with this pitch idea. I sent it to Greg.
The rest is history. So that was my idea. You guys let me know in the comments. Do you think
that was any better than the film we got? Or do you think I should never come up with another
pitch idea in my life again? I'd love to hear your thoughts in the comments. If you did
Listen, I appreciate it.
Whether you liked it or not, you guys are the best.
I hope you guys enjoyed the reaction.
And remember, you guys take care.
See you in the afterlife.
Guido, Gwito Gwendo.
You're going to be our first shout-out.
Hey, buddy.
Of October, 24.
Got this message from you.
Oh, no.
Hi, guys.
Hey.
Hope everything's well.
It's well.
I'm sorry to bring this up.
And I feel like I shouldn't bother you with this.
Yeah.
That's what we were thinking.
Good instinct.
But for some reason, I missed a couple of months of shoutouts on the YouTube videos.
No.
We did that intentionally.
Because we don't like you very much.
I don't know if I did something wrong or I offended you in any way.
You definitely did.
With the incessant amount of conversations we have, you're bound to offend us.
Yeah.
You should know what you did.
If I did, I apologize.
Thank you.
Well, what are you just apologizing in a thin air?
Do you even know what you're apologizing for?
What gives, man?
why we hate you so much.
I am still a patron sponsor of the day
and have been for a year.
Good.
As it should be.
Just because you pay to be a patron of the day shout out
doesn't mean you're going to get one.
Yeah, it doesn't mean the classic
of internet perks is not delivering.
Says he been doing that since November 2023.
Coming upon a full year and he hasn't missed a payment.
Wow.
I feel like we have shouted you out,
but I've dug into the archive.
So expect like a hose kink thing to just spray all over you with shoutouts.
I mean, unless we actually did miss you in which case, we did it on purpose because we don't like you.
In my mind, Guido, have you read the Bible?
Oh, that's a good question.
There's a great story there.
Man named Abraham.
God goes up to Abraham and says, kill me a son.
Kill me just one of them.
And Abraham's like, do I have to?
He's like, yeah, a freaking.
God.
We're a God.
We are your savior.
Pledging is your son.
Yes.
Yes.
Offer it up to us.
Do we need to shout you out?
Your faith should remain steadfast.
Does God shit in the woods?
Exclusively.
Metaphors.
Analogies.
Literary devices.
Euphemisms.
Inuendos.
All kinds of.
of literature that we like to link our intellect towards.
Guito, I don't know what happened.
I thought we shout you out.
Your name sounds way too familiar because I know your name too well.
So I don't know what happened.
I feel like we make a thing out of it.
So we'll make this right one way or another.
I am sorry.
Thank you for being patient.
I am sorry.
You might not, you know, not everyone is.
And that's very kind of you to be.
That's a godly thing to do.
You've learned well.
You learned well.
And now, if you double your pledge, we will give you two shoutouts for next month.
Look out. We'll shout you out so hard. You'll be like, awesome. Okay, enough. I'll pay you not to shout me out.
That's fair. Trick or treat.
