Let's cast a spell, and now you're mine.
All righty, gang.
That, dare I say, was a banger.
Gee.
Take it away.
What did you think?
I was very much engrossed in it.
and I'll say this
anyone who's been watching us for years
knows we're always making jokes
and sometimes that can be misinterpreted
for making fun of show
instead of having fun with show
and usually when we're having a good time with the show
we're just making jokes with the show
so it's how we just watch things
part of Who Real Regix is for the longest time
like Penguin
but yeah Penguin is a great show that we're loving right now
we're always making jokes
and what was so cool about this structure
here is that
the way the narrative device
is done, it forces
you to kind of just pay
close attention
or else you're going to miss some important
detail because of how
it thrusts you into a very
unique POV of Lillia.
Because when you're in her POV
of someone who is in and out of different time
frames, you
start to pick up the puzzle pieces along with her.
So I liked how as an audience member you become
part of like the investigation
with her. You're like playing detective
along with her so you are kind of forced to like
you relegate down to like so we're
all like sort of like okay all right
trying to like pick up on it as well
and then feeling rewarded when
you do guess things before they reveal
them in a good way not in like a
this shit's predictable because it wasn't predictable
it was like you would guess it right before
they're about to say it. Yeah you know so
I wouldn't say it's a predictable thing it's
it's like that feeling of reward of
your oh I get it
like reading a mystery novel like when you
figured out the page before and you're like yeah like oh my god it's not like oh this is yeah yeah so i
thought i thought it was brilliant and you guys might not know exactly what i'm referencing and
when i keep saying the mike flanagan episode so there's like this was some considered one of the
best plot twist ever in house of house of um hunting of hill house my bad yeah honey of hill house uh
episode four i believe episode four or five the rose episode sure you've seen that right boy i love that
true um well i don't remember which episode you kind of just it's the big reveal episode of what is
really going on with this rose character i'll just say that if you haven't seen it's absolutely
genius and it's a i heard there's a big twist before i watch it did not predict it at all and i don't know
anyone else who has it's like this brilliant reveal and then his follow-up show haunting a bligh manner
has a similar thing where with um a character to go in and out through time and you're putting
together these different pieces and stuff and it's like totally very similar to that it's not aping it
it's just very reminiscent of that that kind of episode you know what episode that is you
Yeah.
So it's a very specific type of thing that you don't see done a lot.
And I love it for in terms of just writing because it shows that this writing team had to map out a season.
It wasn't just like, well, we'll see what happens next.
Like they had to map out a season.
They had to map out specific lines for her.
It's like it had me going, when did they figure out this episode for Lilia?
And then they had to go back in place little nuggets so that way they can have the giant reveal,
the tariff card, like you're literally
on the tariff card journey reveal
throughout this whole episode with her.
So I think it's just a very
sort of meta-layered
execution of
writing. I was very
much impressed by. I thought it was a very
impressive episode. It was my favorite one by far.
Yeah, no, I would agree. Koi.
I'm sorry, Agatha all along. I wasn't aware
of your game.
This was,
this was, this was.
Agatha did cook. Though Agatha herself was
She did cook this week.
This was the show, dare I say I want it all along.
This was truly what I have been hoping for the investment of for me with characters.
I personally like coy struggles with art when I can't find my way into the eye line.
Like when I'm watching something and it's just entertaining, I can enjoy it, but I don't get invested.
Like there's always like, you know, watching it through.
opaque glass versus transparent glass
versus being on the stage. Like there's always layers
removing me and when I when I can like feel
with a character it takes it above
just entertainment and I feel and I identify
with and I connect and that's what I
usually get out of these shows because
I am a comic book reader
from that I learn to read with comic books
so I think that a lot of people get mad that I
sometimes judge things either not harshly
enough or too harshly because I'm known
as the guy that like loves this stuff and I love
it because it literally taught me
what I consider my moral
Who I am, the things that make me, me are because of comic books.
The stakes couldn't be higher.
I think my biggest fear in life is losing my mind.
I really honestly, like, I value intelligence, I value intellect, I value reading, I value
communication, I value what it is to be human, to me is words.
My favorite thing in language is word, like the concept of word that we've developed
something that we can pass on, that we can have stories, that you can pick up a book and
everything you've ever wanted to know.
someone has already learned it can convey to you like the idea of what we've created with thought
and speech is everything to me so now this show was like by the way glad you stayed here
because it gave me an eye line and now i cannot wait to watch it again like i'm going to go back
because like i'm so afraid of losing my mind i'm so afraid of the inevitable dementia or Alzheimer's
or the number of things that happen as we age i'm so afraid of slipping through reality i i get
sensory overload where I don't know if I'm real and it scares me like I have moments of total
disassociation at times when I'm overstimulated and this episode made me feel this episode made me
connect to that this episode gave me so much that I was looking for while feeling like that
incredible scarlet witch run on the road while feeling like it's blending IP in a dope way while
feeling like it's paying off on what it's set out to do in a way that is deserving of these
characters and these writers and these actresses
that I honestly hadn't connected to yet
I loved episode four but it was
like one two and three I was trying
and then four I was like oh I'm here and it's harder
when you feel that thing and then you lose it again
but this explained to me
a lot of the why and it gave me a character to connect
to and it gave me so much like I'm
so happy right now and I and I
really I really just want to
rewatch the show with these new eyes and delete all my reviews
that's not going to happen but like it really gives me
what I was looking for yeah like it honestly
this is what I was looking for so I'm just overjoyed
I'm this was so special for me I got to just
really quickly add on to what you were saying
because in terms of the comic
side of it this episode
and this show in particular has really
set itself aside even if you
love the show in total from beginning
to end there's been a lot of people have been saying
but it doesn't really feel like a Marvel show
you know it doesn't really feel like whatever I don't know what that
really means
that could be a good thing but there are people
who have been saying
yeah
whether sets
they built it
but people have been saying that
and it's like oh it feels more
yeah it's like a witch show
and I really like how it's really embraced
it being a witch show
however when you
introduce this character of death
and have that big reveal
you're also getting that comic book
payoff in that regard
so I like how this show
was able to really do its own thing
with a structure that felt akin
to something out of Loki season two
meets that Mike Flanagan shit I was talking about
whilst still also
giving you, oh, here's your big comic book
moment with the character of death.
Yeah. It felt like such a payoff.
John, I monologued. I apologize.
I know you've loved this show. I want to know if it elevated
or what was your experience. It's the one he didn't.
You know, I was on board until this one.
I'm actually kind of bland and confusing.
I've seen
Memento already. Yeah.
No, I love this episode.
I was overjoyed as well. I feel like
everything you guys have brought up is
beautifully said. And
I mean, yeah, this...
We haven't talked about performances.
Well, and as a...
Categories we did not touch us.
No, no, for sure.
For sure.
To make sure you have something.
No, absolutely.
And that is on my mind.
Connect to your own trauma.
This does.
Yeah.
Well, I mean, this episode in multiple ways, like, this was really fun to watch because
this was clearly firing on all possible cylinders.
This was reaching, like, the very high potential for what just this show could possibly be.
And yeah, it delivered me something that was like,
quite again supernatural witchy but also yeah that's like a little bit sci-fi and a little bit
sort of timey-wimey and almost like that bookcase thing i was like interstellar like there's there's
a mishmash of cosmic supernatural loveliness that i think they encapsulated here that is also like
really well distilled through the motif of taro and the idea that you know that debate of like
it's a scam it's just subjective this is all like kind of what you want to make out of it
versus like, no, if you really focus, you might be able to, and especially in the fantastical
context of this, you know, if you focus in and attenuate, you can divine what the actual
messages and what the actual spiritual, you know, slipstream is and, you know, follow that.
And I thought as, and yeah, as this show has gone on, with some exceptions, they have done
a fun job of giving certain episodes, you know, as an opportunity to spotlight a particular
performer, particular actor, and I feel like
some people have benefited greatly from that.
I feel bad for Allie On, because I feel like
her character benefited the least
from that kind of treatment, but here,
Patty Lepone, just like, as
an opportunity, like, I never thought
I would be sitting in front of a Marvel show
that is just like a full episode
where Patty Lepone just gets to take
the reins and be center stage
and, you know, shine
the world-class talent that she
is and has been for so long to, you know,
like, from the
height of the pop culture
obelisk. Tens and millions of eyeballs
because of. Yeah. And
it's just, you know, this is
a show that seems like, yeah, it has benefited
from an amount
of foresight. When we watched Loki season
two recently, it seemed very
gleamingly clear that like when they
have a plan for these shows
ahead of time and
barring any sort of...
This is the part where you don't really
have to look at us. You can just listen.
But, you know, I feel like they're barring any sort of intervention from, like, huge world circumstances or whatever.
You know, some shows seem like they're more thought out than others.
And I didn't know exactly what to expect coming into this show.
But yeah, looking at Loki season two, we were sitting there going, man, look what you can achieve when you have a plan.
And I'm sure they updated things and had rewrites.
But like, look what happens when you come up with a plan, flesh that plan out, and then shoot that plan.
It's all part of the plan.
And this felt like part of the plan.
And certainly, yeah, like, I feel like the previous episode did suffer from being slight.
And so, like, that feels a little, you know, outside of her anomalous to the plan.
But, like, this, I didn't know what to expect from Agatha all along going in.
I was like, is this going to be a fun side quest?
Is this going to be essential or not?
And from here, I'm like, this is kind of neat because, like, yeah, Billy, I'm sure will be interconnected.
And I'm sure death is a character.
We're going to see Agatha.
I'm sure at least we will see again
but like this seems like it's occupying
its whole own neat little lane
where I feel like you know people are actually
kind of flocking to the show and checking it out
and it's been kind of event TV to some degree each week
and this episode was cool
because it's like yeah obviously
the Wiccan reveal is going to be a big thing for the future
but like also just this show
has managed to be something unique
and there's clearly a lot of really
lovely thought and craft
and effort put into
to it and like watching this episode kind of made me misty-eyed at points because too it was the
culmination of seeing like my gripe about the episode last week was sort of like I know you can do
this well because I've seen you do a bunch of other stuff well so I'm just bummed we can get that
opportunity whereas here I was like this is you're getting to shine all the stuff that you do so
well as a show and on top of that I'm also just kind of emotionally affected by the actual character
journey of yeah lilia doubting herself and you know being sort of excelling in certain you know
facets of the trade the craft and feeling very shaky on others and yeah her like little journey of
you know completeness and self-actualization and bringing together all the disparate elements of her
journey in these weird little flashes and interludes and and moments where she's transported out
of time like all that culminated into something that was both really neat from a high concept
you know pulp angle but also like really touching from just like oh wow like and it's all in the
performance like again patty lapone is like a world-class performer and and yeah just like
I felt kind of misty-eyed as she was putting it all together and clarity was dawning upon her and
and yeah she was able to like truly shine and to really again in function of the plot save everyone's
asses but also you know really go out on such a beautiful high note and that last moment of peace for
the character as she falls into the swords with the tower the flip of the tower and like there's
so many great little details like if you know any little i'm not a terrorist expert but i know little
things and they've done a great job of elacing that throughout the show like this is just so well
constructed for what it is in terms of again the the you know the stuff that they're drawing from
that's actually part of our world and i like when comics to bring in like you know death exists
throughout so much folklore and so much history and so do you know these tenets of which
but they're all adapted here for Marvel and I feel like yeah this is I'm excited like you said to go back and rewatch it and to see all the little clues and the little mysteries and see yeah how a second watch of the show goes down and I was already feeling like oh yeah I could pull this out every Halloween it's pretty I'm enjoying it it's a lot of fun but yeah at this point I'm really excited to see whatever culminates in the finale and also was just yeah super impacted by this episode for sure you thought we monologued
Ladies and gentlemen, I'm excited to shout out today's sponsor because it is an app that I have been using since before we partnered with them, which just makes my job easy.
And I just get to share with you something I really do love.
And that is the Acorns app.
Because money's involved, I researched them extensively to make sure, like, they've got to be legit, right?
You can find so many positive reviews on them.
There's one person here.
Day themselves gave me a very positive testimony about how it helped get them out of a bind once that they were in.
And I can say that, you know, I don't want to actually show my, but I have the app just as evidence.
Because one of my favorite things about it is how easy they make it for investing.
That's something that I think is really important.
It's really hard to get ahead in life for something like me who doesn't have a 401k who really does need to invest money.
So that way I don't have to just work for money, but have money grow for me.
It's an absolutely amazing start.

They make it easy to automatically start saving and investing for you, your future, your retirement, your kids, whatever it may be that you want to invest money for.
Like I say, you don't need a lot of money.
You don't even really need expertise, which is the best part.
Acorns recommends an expert built portfolio that fits you and your money goals.
Then automatically invest the money for you.
So it takes a lot of this stressful decision-making fatigue out of the process.
I just love how I can let it do its thing and then I can just check it with my half like a month later, a couple months later, see how they're awesome.

this app. I highly recommend this app. I mean, hey, that was a beautiful agent,
one out there's journey, left and right, throughout literature, and ends of deaf and references.
We'll go back and count the minutes. Start about the beginning of time.
In the beginning, there was witches and then, man.
You got to talk about, like, what it means to be alive with, like, the essence of human experience and this.
I'm going to take credit slash blame for this journey.
We all went on together, introvertedly and extrovertedly.
Sure.
Introspectively and extrospectively.
No, no, I agree with what you're going to say.
I was actually going to comment on your comments.
I really like that it is something that opens up doors that you can choose how much to see.
Something you said about the taro.
Oh, the intuition.
in the beginning of your journey through the mental experience of it,
I really like that when you tarot,
it is usually stuff that you've intuited yourself, that you've blocked.
And I like that the episode was all about stuff
that she wasn't letting herself see,
but that unraveled like when you were playing a deck of tarot.
Yeah, I like that the actual experience of the show,
Greg pointed out that it was the format,
but I like that even the way I think of taro
feels like you're unlocking stuff that you yourself know about you,
but you need to see a card for it to,
unlock so I really enjoyed that she got to have that because the whole time I've been like I hear this
pat-in-lapone is amazing yeah and I feel like she was getting short change and that was a purpose behind it
and we got to discover it with her in a way that felt like thinking no that's the brilliance I think
of the opening shot I feel like it's very intentionally making you because that shot up from get
out is so famous that there's nothing else really that you'll probably think of right and then
even when she's originally falling from the profile shot you can't see what she's falling into
doesn't even really look like she's in a room it looks like just a black void so it does seem like
you are in what i love about the setup of that is that it's yeah showing you physically where she's
going to land what her ultimate and part of her journey will be however it is also visually as a
director throwing you into her mindset having you subconsciously think you're going into her
subconscious yeah yeah yeah yeah i think it's a really smart like visual cue because that is what
it's doing it's it's both going physically and mentally
with our character, Lilia.
And the narrative allows for that
because it's been doing things
that are references to other things.
So like the door,
like the, you mentioned another seller,
I do like that the show
from episode two or what,
actually from episode one
with your detective slash mayor of Easttown.
It's always been acknowledging other stuff
and shortcutting to that emotional connection
in this case of subconscious.
Yeah.
And I also like too that they didn't
just completely drop the whole William Billy thing
because they would,
with him questioning like,
who am I really?
I like how there is still a question of identity
for this guy who has now
just inherited a body
and is also having like family
like he has parents
I have a mom I have a mom
I have parents but then I'm also the child
of Scarlet Witch like there's all these like complications
and I like that I like that didn't drop the complexity of that
and the Kevin Faggy yes no that was that was gonna be
one two even just a little thing
I like that they were like someone's gonna ask but comics
well and I guess the last just little stray thing
that because you made me think of like yeah
Patty Lopone for so much of this has just been being like an all
star support, you know, like being, making sure to be just enough to punctuate, but not enough
to, like, steal every scene or something like that. But here I also really loved the her and
Jen back and forth. Yeah. The, like, you know, accepting, embracing of the coven for both of them.
And the coven as being something less immediately now these people even and just, like, all
of us who donned this mantle of witchcraft and, you know, divining the elements and the, you know,
all that stuff so cool i got out yep oh guys i got it all along did you think of this episode leave us
your thoughts down below is your favorite of the season so far what do you want from the finale
let's hear it and we'll catch you next week keep on the road people you bonky bill
