It's just all great.
And I wear their shirts all the time, working out, making love.
Why?
Why did you do that?
Because she prefers me to keep my shirt on.
It can't be true.
She does.
She says you look so much better and reject apparel.
I'm calling Olivia right now.
Olivia, Greg's claiming that you force him to put on only reject shirts while you guys are making love.
Is that true?
Wear your Omni Man.
Let's do this.
Roxy, I'll go to you first, buddy.
Yeah, man, you know what's so weird is that
there was the most hype and anticipation around this episode, right?
Because this is our first ever, like, real sequel.
Yeah.
And I loved USS Callister.
I loved that episode.
And so I was very excited for this one.
And I really like what they did to make it different than they did the first one.
and I'm happy to have a lot of our main people back.
I wonder how I would have felt about this episode
if I didn't love the first USS Callister,
like as a standalone episode.
I don't know that this,
like this has just been such an amazing season,
but as a sequel, this was really cool
to live with the characters that we love so much.
I just don't know that I have as much takeaway from this,
like lessons on life or like things that I want to work on in myself.
In fact, kind of the opposite,
feel like what they were saying with Jesse Plymouth's character is like it's not really
nature versus nurture it is 100% nature and who you are is who you are and that will come out
eventually no matter which is not how I feel in life um so I think it's a really solid episode
and there are moments that I thought were great but I'm feeling a little conflicted on because of
that do you know what I mean at all yeah no I do uh I think
it's because this is like very much a straightforward like suddenly it's a sci-fi episode of this
whatever if there isn't a callister show this would be like the second episode to the
yeah so less of like an anthology episode that has like some type of deeper commentary to make
either about society or about technology it's more of a continuation of the
the next chapter of these characters so it's a different direction for them to take um because yeah i mean
the first like 25 30 minutes of this hour and a half episode i found myself already looking at the
time going oh man this really feels like it's not going to be as enjoyable and it it was like i wasn't
super into the callister adventures at the top because it felt like a derivative star trek episode or something
like that like it felt like the omages and everything are you a star trek fan i'm not a huge star trek
fan and i was actually thinking that one of the things that's been on our list for a long time is to
cover all the star trek movies because i haven't seen like most of them and i'm not gonna
definitely be covering all the i've covered i've seen my mom my mom was a huge star trek man she
watched like all the shows you just opened a door is someone there
come out with your hands up i'm totally flipped out your making joke but i'm actually
I think it's the wind blowing it open or it might have been Olivia.
I will be masculine.
I'm scared.
What was it? It was nobody.
Anyway, as I pretend to act like that?
I wasn't scared of what I just did.
You're all right?
You've had some scary things in life happen.
I understand.
I do.
And Olivia's biggest fear is home invasions.
So, yeah, I understand.
Anyway.
Anyway, back to reality.
But, you know, my favorite films of all time are like Matrix and...
But you were telling me, you were thinking about watching all the Star Trek movies.
Yeah, yeah.
I haven't seen them.
I was exposed to a lot.
of them i could do that with you yeah i don't the thing is i'm worried about is they they're all
outside of j jabrams's ones they're all like there was the shows first and then that crew got a
movie yeah i saw the con one i i i'm a t o s girl i'm an original series girl i didn't watch tng
but i'm a t o s person yeah i've seen all the ones with uh patrick stewart the generation's ones
once uh when i was young and the shows the show episodes the movies and uh you
J.J. Abrams's movies I've seen once, but most of the, of the original.
Oh, you're saying next generation. Next generation movies, yeah.
But you didn't see TNG show.
I've seen some episodes. My mom was obsessed with them. And there was, like, growing up,
I wasn't, like, watching a lot outside of friends. I didn't watch a lot of shows in my family.
Oh.
It was like, that's for them. You watch Law and Order SVU, you know, like, I wasn't really there.
So, like, Matrix and Termin.
too. I still think it keeps like the thought-provoking side going. I don't think this is as strong as
the original USS Callister. And I don't think this is, I feel like it could sure as hell be
divisive for people. I really love like the last 45 minutes of this though, a lot. I thought it
was really gripping stuff. And yeah. So what's the marker for you like after she gets hit by the car?
I think it was right when they actually first encounter each other when I started getting really into it.
Yeah, that's when I started getting into it too.
I think I even said it out loud like, okay, now I'm super duper and invested.
Yeah, I think like in the first 25 minutes, it was I only, I was enjoying the real world stuff.
And I liked Simpson.
And I thought he was hilarious.
I love that they really gave him a lot more screen time and they made him a more.
Because in the first episode, I remembered thinking he's doing a great.
He was great in both parts.
But him as the CEO, he was just a douchebag.
He wasn't funny.
And he was hilarious here.
Yeah, he was really funny.
And then we got to see Caveman version of him and then back to the guy on the ship.
So there was really three versions of him that we kind of get to see.
Yeah.
And I thought there was some meat to chew on that maybe emotional when I thought she died
the real world i was bummed by that because i was so um surprised by what they decided to do
when she's looking at her clone self and she's realizing there's so much more of the kind of
person she could be of someone with so much more strength and assertiveness and capability
capable capable i didn't even notice that um i didn't even draw the correlation that that
that could possibly happen.
So I thought there was like interesting existential, psychological things to explore on that front.
So whenever they touched on that stuff, it was interesting.
But yeah, this was a little bit more like plot mechanic heavy with some character moments for
sure.
And some of them are like revisited beats instead of like new beats.
Yeah.
And also when you talk about plot mechanic heavy, every character understood everything so quickly.
Yeah, it was a little convenient.
together so conveniently so quickly which makes sense it's already an hour and a half what are we
going to do stretch that longer but not every i guess most people working for this company probably
are genius but the fact that like when she describes what she describes to um jimmy's character
he immediately gets it and like but it's like he's a moron in some ways but he understands very
complicated things in other ways which it happens with people but the fact that everybody
even the report, the journalist,
everybody immediately was like,
here's what's happening,
here's what's happening, here's what's happening.
So that led to a lot of exposition,
which, again, I understand
because we are on time restrictions,
this is an episode of a TV show.
But that was a little bit convenient for me.
It sounds like I'm being harsh on this,
which is crazy because I really did like this episode
and there were things that I thought were really clever
that they did do and accomplish.
And I think while we were watching it,
said I would love one of these every season like I love these characters that we've created
I would I think it'd be really cool if every season we got one more episode of the saga
or every other season whatever that would be sick but for some reason I don't know I think
maybe my expectations are just so high going into this it just it feels like a like a missing
something a little bit hey guys I've hit a point in life where I realize time flies
and if you're not intentional about your future
sneaks up on you.
And my whole life, the advice was always
start investing when you're young,
start investing when you're young.
And if you grew up like me,
nobody really teaches you how to do it.
And by the time you realize you need to,
it either feels too late or too complicated,
that's why, whether you're a total beginner

I bet through many panic attacks, something like this very much necessary for a guy like me.
It's easy to overlook small amounts.
But they add up faster than you think.
And the very concept that small actions today can lead to big growth over time.
I believe in that now more than ever.
And I think Acorns is a great reflection of that.

For me, Acorns, mighty oaks do grow.
Thank you again, Acorns, for everything that you do.
Well, it doesn't, outside of like some weird convergence thing they do at the end,
I don't think thematically they really do anything new.
Or perhaps they do like shades of new things, but not really.
The first episode is powerful and popular for more than being Star Trek Rift.
The commentary about power and abuse and what is sentient life.
And if this technology did exist and you did this, would it really be harmful if they're not, quote, unquote, human or real?
Which has been kind of a commentary on a couple of episodes this season.
So I like that.
But I guess I was kind of in, I was, I perhaps was a little bit more into.
I was loving the world building.
I was loving like, oh, the clone technology
and how they're fleshing that out
and how Simpson he had the,
Walton had the clone technology.
I didn't see that twist coming.
Yeah, I didn't either.
That was really cool.
Like that's when I'm talking about
some of the plot things were really cool.
I thought that was a great choice.
Yeah.
And going into like the garage,
which feels like very much like a Steve Jobs,
Steve Wozniak situation.
I thought was really awesome too.
And the architect.
And I think there's like so many great acting moments still.
I think Jesse Plymins kills it again.
Like kills it again.
The guy's so freaking good.
He's so good.
Yeah, he's amazing.
I love the scene when, um, what is her name, Christine Millioti?
Christa Miliotti.
When she is interacting with Jesse Plemons in the architect room or whatever the,
uh, whatever that room is, that duality that she's facing where it's like, it's not him.
It's not the same guy, but I still got all this trauma about who he was.
so I'm afraid he's going to be this way, but I need to treat him like he's not that guy, you know, like, I love those shades of her performance.
I do think the crew kind of takes a giant backseat.
Yeah, it is, I love that scene too, and I love that even this version of him is like, I'm just going to copy so you're here with me.
And she immediately is like, no, that's the whole problem.
I thought that was very, very smart too.
I think they did dumb down.
Like, I enjoyed the comedy a lot of Simpson.
I thought he was hilarious.
At the same time, he was a little too dumb to make...
To be brilliant.
To make real tension out of him.
Because, you know, Jesse Plemons is a super genius.
So that's a big part of what made it scary in the first episode.
It's because he's got not just physical power, but the mental power and the education to outwit them.
And I get the funniness about the CEO who doesn't care and all that shit.
it doesn't even know his own product like i get it and that's very realistic honestly
there's so so many people at that level who just don't know they're not the smartest person in the
room they're the richest though yeah so i i like that um but you know it like the first one's like
a psychological horror show yeah totally and and this was a pretty straightforward
sci-fi like it doesn't feel as rich in the nuance um but i was still eating it up man yeah i love
because we were cooking with gas yeah yeah like they really did go a lot of making it like bigger but
perhaps they lost um i think they could have used a little bit more focus on what are we really
trying to say this time around but it was i guess that's a part of the experience that's different
is it seems like the right that the storytellers for this really like their
characters and they wanted to hang out with them again and and continue their lives and so maybe
less about like commentary and themes and all that shit but they really wanted to continue on with them
you know yeah they like the people that they had built my the thing I think was the funniest and
the whole thing was rocky yeah that was funny you and I both thought that was hysterical um but yeah
going to what you say going back to what you said about the characters I do feel like that
carried me through because I also love the characters
that they created.
But yeah, just the first one is such powerful messaging
and this season has been such powerful messaging
that I almost wonder how I'd be feeling about this
if it wasn't the last episode.
Yeah, it's weird.
It's like the biggest one,
but it's not the richest one in terms of thought-provoking.
Right, it doesn't leave you like,
this isn't going to be the one that keeps me up at night.
No, no, it is a pretty straightforward.
Or that I call my friends and I'm like,
you have to watch this one, you know.
um that last one the paul giamati one and the isa ray aquifina episode those are two episodes that i am
going to be calling people about yeah yeah yeah and i eat up the little easter eggs like jesse
plymonds having the bandersnatch book and stuff like oh that's cool good because it's it's maybe it plays
on my mind more like what is the is it is it i mean it has to be multiple timelines but there's like
some type of stronger tethering
to there. But I mean, like
Jesse Plumman's being locked away and
the performance
that he gives, like, you do feel
sorry for him. Totally.
Totally. Yeah. Because he is
being used. If they
announced that they were doing a USS
Callister episode three,
would you want to watch an episode
of Kristen Miliotti's
character, Annette, have
the crew in her head?
Yeah, I think they'd have to figure out
really compelling plot though because i don't think they would like open up the game again
unless they did i don't know what that would be honestly um but yeah i think they'd have to do
something very different they'd have to do something completely would you be interested in if
if you heard next season there was going to be i don't even know if there's going to be another season
but if you heard next season there's going to be a u s callister three would you be excited
undoubtedly yeah me too me too so that means they did a good job because i'd be stoked i think they could
have ended it without the moment at the couch where she's working on it I think they could have
ended it just in the hospital with the realization then I would have been I think I think that would
have been a perfect ending honestly I don't think we needed the whole like epilogue shit but that was
the funny they wanted to put in the humor clearly this was like they really wanted the jokes
I know I'm with you I'm with you I'm with you dial the back like 20% yeah I'm with you
Like the whole reality show bid and stuff.
Like it felt it felt like punch up writer shit.
Yeah.
It feels like you and I feel very similarly about this episode.
Yeah.
You want to know what I'm going to tell the people, though.
I'm not going to ask you your final ranking because...
I would probably put this towards the bottom.
But I'm not going to ask you it now because I'm going to ask you to film a social media video with me of our official rankings of this season.
