Starting point is 00:01:07 this week's videos are brought to you by rocket money a personal finance app that I've been using since way before we partnered with them more on them soon Tara you're gonna get a rock on a boy make sure where my hair shaggy today in honor of Jonas Brothers Rock let's do it is at the end or do we see them in the crew Oh, I know they kissed after that.
Starting point is 00:01:30 In the canoe. I know it. I feel it in my soul. Ladies and gentlemen, we just watched what I think might be a movie called Camp Rock. Yep. Starring Demi Lovato and three Jonas Brothers, whose first names I know, but I forget who they're assigned to.
Starting point is 00:01:53 I don't even know their first names. Nick Kevin Joe. I think you might be wrong about one of those I think you're right I think you're right I think Kevin no Nick is the curly hair one He's the one that was Game with Thrones I think Kevin is the main one we watch and who is he married to we gotta know I don't know and Joe will look at it up soon and Joe is the the dumb brother in this movie
Starting point is 00:02:26 Okay, okay. Tara. Yeah. Well, I liked it. I didn't even, like, I didn't even like it. I didn't know. I didn't know who Demi Lovato really was. I mean, I do.
Starting point is 00:02:44 Like, because she's famous, but I'm not, I didn't know that she came from this movie. She's so young and she's so good. Like, if I had known about this movie, then once I would have seen songs by Demi Lovato, I'd be like, oh yeah I'm a stand for her because like she's great and she's great in this film like she's an incredible voice um she is she's an incredible voice i find it funny that we haven't seen tess again anywhere from i'm sure she's still working i haven't seen her though like everyone else well not everyone else but like test seems to me like she would be the girl that we would keep continuing seeing in a bunch of shows along with demi but i don't i haven't seen her she did good
Starting point is 00:03:24 everybody good that girl margaret at the end she so good everyone in this can sing um what else what you think of the plot i mean i liked it i knew that like tess was going to call her out about like the hot tunes and like your mom's a cook um i i actually kind of like that because i think when you're in high school peer pressure does make you want to lie about everything in your life to make you seem cooler like if there's any way that you can do it me too that you can make up a lie to be like make me an inch cooler I'll do it and so I don't blame her for saying that I like the plot I mean I like that the reason that Jonas ends up there is because he's like overly famous and like people were like get out of here and he was being a jerk Joe Jonas was who we were watching Joe Jonas yeah okay
Starting point is 00:04:19 so that was Joe okay Kevin Jonas is the dumb one Kevin is the dumb one and Nick is the other one So Joe's the main one who's got 12 million followers on Instagram Let's see what Nick is at now This is how you tell him Nick has 35
Starting point is 00:04:37 Nick is so famous He's become way more popular No it's because he's with Priyanka Chopra She's the most gorgeous person I've ever seen Didn't they get divorced? I don't know Who did he get divorced from I don't know but I know one of them
Starting point is 00:04:51 Divorced from the Game of Thrones girl okay it's one of them Jonas yeah divorce divorce is what we should find out first foremost okay Priyanka Chopra okay fine I don't know how to say your name
Starting point is 00:05:05 forgive me okay Sophie Turner so wait Sophie Turner was also his ex Presumis Tofi is it the winner okay are there okay
Starting point is 00:05:17 Sophie Turner unfollows Nick Jonas's wife Priyanka but why So did Sophie Turner, was she married to Nick Jonas? Divorce. Sophie. From Sophie. Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:05:31 They were married together. They were? I think him and Priyanka are still together. But we don't know. Oh my God. Did he get with Priyanka like real quick after Game of Thrones? I mean, Priyanka is very beautiful. Obviously.
Starting point is 00:05:46 I mean, you can't look at her and not be like, uh, I'll marry you right now. Yeah. I get it. I mean, just for the clout. But obviously, but so. Sophia, whatever her name is. Yeah, but, you know, Game of Thrones ended. I know what?
Starting point is 00:05:58 Priyanka carries on. I don't even know what she does. What does she do? Is Priyanka an actress? Priyanka's like a... She's a model. Massive Bollywood. Oh, she is? Yeah, he's done some... A couple American things, but she's mainly famous in India.
Starting point is 00:06:10 She's got money. Oh, she's got tons of money. She's got lots of money. Anyway, we should talk about the movie. Listen, I liked it. What do you have to say? I liked it. I thought it was a fun, cheesy. time. Yeah. Here's the thing. Oh my God, but wait, I just have to say what you asked me about, I know, sorry, with the
Starting point is 00:06:33 plot, why in the F did Ted's go into the freaking cabin and look at her journal under the bed and it never came back up? If that doesn't come back up and two, I'm going to be mad. Go ahead. I don't think it'll come back up. Then why? Why? Why? I don't know. I don't know. I'm right there with you. I was watching it going, like, I thought things were going to, I thought there was going to be payoffs or some consequence to it, but there was nothing. I didn't get that.
Starting point is 00:06:55 She had a character arc before she could do something of serious consequence with that information. So unfortunately, we didn't get us here to utilize information. I think Demi Lovato is great in this movie. She's fantastic. I like watching Joe Jonas, not because he's a great actor, but because he's a very weird actor. This look? I'm not even going to say he's a bad actor. What are you saying?
Starting point is 00:07:23 He's a weird act. He's weird. He's like flipped on a dime when he was like such a jerk and then he was so nice. Like there's these Disney movies, there's a certain energy that you kind of ride of like a little bit hiding for Disney energy, but you still got to be believable. Yeah. And he was something else. All the brothers were like something else. But see, I wonder if that's a direction thing or they're choosing because they probably didn't get directed much because they were already famous, right?
Starting point is 00:07:50 So they probably let them just like make their own choices. It does make me kind of wonder at something behind the scene stuff because I know with Disney, they tend to have people who they cast who can also sing and usually they're actors first. They put in like some freaking TV show and then they make them big singers. But I always knew the Jonah, like, Demi Lovato is like one of them, not really an actress, but like a very big musician now. Right.
Starting point is 00:08:12 But like the Jonas Brothers, they're, I've always known them as a band. I've always known them as musicians. And then here and they were in this post being famous musicians. Not you put them in here. and then they become famous musicians it was like the inverse so I feel like they were the case of getting famous musicians and putting them in here and they get and then they have to act hold on a second what have fun bye wifie anyway the Jonas brothers but he was like a psychopath he really just had like mood swings galore and it was was like that each emotion was extreme was a lot it was like he was yeah extremely joyful and he was like whatever line or scene it required was like
Starting point is 00:09:06 what emotion do I need to play in this one scene he would play five within three sentences it was wild yeah I do agree with that very strange yeah I'm not even sure they had chemistry when they were just doing lines not really um they were singing it was fine But, yeah, I like the friend. I think the mom is a really natural actress. She's great. She's very natural. Yep.
Starting point is 00:09:30 And the plot is kind of like, whatever, it's a little empty. You know, it's like them just hanging out at camp. And it's not really like stakes in the movie. No, there's not. It's like a hangout movie. The only stakes are like, is us being like, oh, what is the secret about her mom being the cook going to come out, which we all were expecting? Yeah. It's like a strange hangout movie.
Starting point is 00:09:54 Reject Nation, I just want to take a quick second to thank today's sponsor because as a business owner, I am surprisingly not the greatest at handling and tracking finances. It just doesn't come naturally to me. I can definitely have an oversight when it comes to certain things. And I'm sure you can relate with this. I hate the feeling of paying for something that I just haven't thought about in a while or worse. I just keep forgetting to cancel. Procrastination is the name of the game.
Starting point is 00:10:17 And that's why, before we ever partner with today's sponsor about a year and a half ago, I started using Rocket Money. I'm glad to have this ongoing partnership with them because I already used their product, so it just makes it a win-win. But seriously, they've been a lifesaver. Rocket Money is a personal finance app that simplifies managing money
Starting point is 00:10:33 by canceling unnecessary subscriptions, lowering bills. Rocket Money does the heavy lifting by analyzing your spending, then customizes notifications to help you stay within your budget goals. Over 74%, not 75, 74% of people forget about subscriptions they don't use.
Starting point is 00:10:49 I was paying for things I don't even remember subscribing to. Free trials will do that. One of the best things about Rocket Money, they found those things and canceled them for me effortlessly. What I really love about Rocket Money is organization. It puts everything in one place. Imagine just seeing all your subscriptions and with just a tap, you're able to cancel the ones you don't want. It even compares your spending month to month keeping you on track for more financial success.
Starting point is 00:11:11 Money's the name with the game. Rocket Money can also negotiate lower bills for you up to 20%. With over 5 million users and over $500 million saved and canceled subscription. It's helped people save up to $740 a year. Join the Rocky Money community and stop wasting money on things you don't use. Cancel your unwanted subscriptions by going to RocketMoney.com slash rejects. That's rocketmoney.com slash rejects.
Starting point is 00:11:36 It's a great way to support the channel and a great way to support your bank account. Heck, it would even just help us out if you wanted to just click the link and poke around. Generous thing that you could do for us and for you. It's a win-win. Yeah. So yeah, I mean, in terms of like the Disney movie films, I thought this was was a lot of fun to do a reaction to. I had a lot of fun of what I noticed with the other movies
Starting point is 00:11:57 that I got to give credit to that did not happen with this one is normally we'll be like kind of laughing at the movie. Yeah. And then we reach a point where we're just really taking it seriously. Right. We get like swept up in it and we're like so invested in like what's going on. And this movie never quite did that for me. I always was a little bit aware of what I was watching and it was always kind of funny.
Starting point is 00:12:21 even when it was supposed to be a little bit more on the heavy side. Especially this. Oh, yeah. Oh, no. What do you even like slap? When he snaps at her over the reveal about the mom. Oh, God. When he goes, you lied all summer.
Starting point is 00:12:36 It's so mad. Oh, my God. He just like flipped out. That's when you started laughing at him. Oh, my God. He started losing it. That was funny because you're like, dude. So what?
Starting point is 00:12:47 So she said, and she's standing there going like, yes, she lied. But my mom's cool. but she's the cook and like Tess is leaning into her and then her friend is like lay off Tess and it's all done she turns around and he is like you lie all summer it's like some guy out of some like romantic fantasy novel just so freaking extreme yeah yeah I agree and it just doesn't feel right it doesn't feel like we got to this level properly I don't think so either especially even remember when she was like sort of ostracized after all the news comes out she she sits in the back of the dance room and then he comes and he's like sit down and he gives that speech but he's like you should just be yourself he looks in the corner and he's so aggressive yeah i was like what is happening he's an asshole like i thought it was going to be you know he's i don't really feel like he changed as a person i feel like this scary asshole who showed up at camp is still the scary Still in there.
Starting point is 00:13:50 Yeah, I agree. I agree. And it's waiting to come back out again. Absolutely. You know, I think he just kind of got, he showed up, there was something he wanted to obtain, and he obtained that. I don't really feel like he changed, though.
Starting point is 00:14:05 Not at all. The second he hits his limo, he's going to be like, let's roll. Once he gets too comfortable, he's going to be like talking down her again. Totally. Yeah, so. I agree. It was a really, it's a strange movie, but it was a, I'm not going to be wrong. like it's a fun one to kind of like go on the ride with and then kind of make and also it's a fun one to also make fun of at the same time like i can have fun with this one i wasn't bored and because i think it's this is one of those that's fun to like make some jokes with and make commentary even when i said i was bored with like tess's songs she just by far her songs were like at the bottom of the totem pole and i feel like everybody else is going to say that too like when margaret comes out like give me a break that was great and i think that you might be right where there were
Starting point is 00:14:48 pushing Tess's songs into be like streamlined, it might be a little bit autotune and it's not as great. Versus the other ones, all the rest of the songs I was super, super into. Just like Tess's, I was like, I don't know. Yeah. But again, this was like 2008. So, this
Starting point is 00:15:04 must have been after, I feel like high school musical kicked everything off. I could be way wrong about that. I don't know. Well, because high school musical was before this. I don't know. Yeah, exactly. See, that's what I'm wondering. I don't remember the date about that. I don't know. I don't know. Because I think high school musical was after this.
Starting point is 00:15:21 When did high school? Let's look like that. Like 2010, 2012 or something, right? High school musical, 2006. Oh, so this came out the same year. High School Musical. This came out the year High School Musical three came out. They stole from High School Musical.
Starting point is 00:15:34 Well, I think High School Musical created the boom where Disney Channel was like, we got to do movie musicals. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Let's do descendants. Let's do zombies. Yeah. Let's do them all because this is our market now. And they've done great with that.
Starting point is 00:15:46 And I don't quite feel. like this this this was like really fun but it felt like we got the Jonas brothers let's use them yeah like I agree with you that there wasn't really a character that really went through a really hardcore arc I mean they throw tests in there but it happens like literally she gets like she sees her mom and trips and then all the sudden she's backstage saying sorry to margaret and her friends but we didn't actually get to see her change it was just it's so it has so fast, which a lot of it has to happen in these movies. They move quickly.
Starting point is 00:16:22 But still, I'm just saying it's not like we saw test change a lot. Literally 30 minutes before that, she was being a total dick in the green room to her friends. Demi Lovato changed. She doesn't accept herself. Agreed. Yes, but like, sure.
Starting point is 00:16:38 It's like them too, but it wasn't like huge. I was never moved by this. Yeah, I wasn't. That's why I wanted to be sort of like, oh, that sweet, like touched by it. And I feel like a lot of the movies we've watched have surprisingly subverted that for us. We're like, we're actually moved by, while we're finding, like, funny and cheesy and like, oh, clearly a kid's movie, it eventually moves us.
Starting point is 00:16:59 Yeah. And I never really got moved. I didn't, no, I didn't from this. But I had, but don't get me wrong. Still a good time. It was a good time. It was a really good time. Like, I was smiling a lot.
Starting point is 00:17:10 This was a lot of fun to watch. Agreed. But yeah, let's see how this one does. Should we watch Camp Rock, too? Is it just as fun? That's the thing, is they can usually cast people for the characters, and it seemed like they wrote a movie around the Jonas Brothers. Right, but I'm like, yeah, but make the movie good.
Starting point is 00:17:28 Like, it is good, but make, make there be a point where it's like Dark Night of the Soul and something changes. Yeah, Jonas Brothers started in 2005. Oh, this is only three years after there. And they gained their popularity on the Disney Channel television network. Got it. And so then in 2008 was when this movie came out. Okay. damn that's crazy it's crazy how like joe jonas was like obviously the oldest one and the lead
Starting point is 00:17:54 yeah now nick jonas is like three times more popular recording a social media maybe it's because he recorded more music after right yeah he's sustained being a son i've heard a couple i've actually never heard a jonas brother song but i've heard a couple of nick jonas's songs oh he's rocking he's really he's actually pretty good he's pretty good that's what that's what happens when you rub the underdog you you run on spite and it really is really helps going down Joe yeah man we're gonna be going to become bigger I'm gonna be I'm gonna surpass you man I'm gonna get Priyanka and that girl from Game of Thrones oh my god he got all the hot ones look oh look now even in in I don't wait yours this photo can we see there's some
Starting point is 00:18:33 entertainment weekly for them older looks even like hotter now Nick's the in the center of the photo yes and the others are on the side and Joe looks totally kind of different he looks like a normal guy looks like a guy who be my barista yeah versus like Like, in the movie, he looked, all right, yeah, I'm seeing it now. All right, get it, get it done, Nick. Did Nick Jonas, like, lose his curly hair? What happened? Nick Jonas, he learned to blow dry.
Starting point is 00:19:01 He's just like, there's no curly hair anymore. What happened was curly hair? He learned to do it. He has, like, extremely curly hair to just, like, went away. No, he just does the, the, the, the shoosh. Why not embrace her curly hair? See, it's curly. That's why it's all foo-foo.
Starting point is 00:19:16 All righty, guys. No. Thank you for. being here. Follow us on social media. Check out Tara's Patreon. Please. But on her YouTube channel. Yeah. And we'll see you guys soon. Bye.
