Citizens to the Reject Nation.
I'm a diehard DECOM fan, but showing my age here a little bit, I missed an entire generation of them.
And this is one of them.
Today we are watching Camp Rock.
Camp Rock.
I don't know what she keeps referencing, but...
Cam Brock.
Baby girl Jackie on the channel has seen this, but she was 12, so doesn't remember.
I was 10.
I just looked it up.
It came out when I was 10 years old.
I remember...
Wait, this is a fun story.
Okay, let me hear it.
Really quick, really quick.
I was at...
I was at...
I did be. This is I dream of Jeannie. I don't know what Camrock is.
I was at my neighbor's house when this was coming out and Disney Channel did the like road to the Camp Rock premieres.
They had like a new episode of Sweet Life, a new episode of Hanna Montana.
And then my dad comes and knocks on the door of my neighbor's house.
Camp Rock is like about to come on. It's like doing the countdown.
It's like five minutes wait.
He's like your brother jumped off of his dresser and cracked open his head.
Oh.
We're going to the ER. Are you going to come?
And I went, Dad.
Camp Rock is about to be on.
Camp Rock is about to be on.
And then I did not go to the ER and I watched Camp Rock with my friend.
I'm so sorry to my little brother Rocco.
I love him so much, but I loved Camp Rock more that day.
Okay.
So it brings a little bit of trauma out for you.
Yeah, I'm going to start sobbing during Camp Rock.
Let's watch a Disney Channel movie.
All right, here we go.
Camp Rock, we're coming for you.
Here we go.
This is a Reject Nation.
We just watched Camp Rock together.
And if you loved it like we did, then don't forget to like, comment, subscribe.
Ring that bell.
A few things.
If you guys are here and you're like, okay, Roxy and Jackie, best combo ever.
And let us know that in the comment.
Make sure that you let them know because we know that that's what everyone is thinking.
Yeah.
Please, like, say it.
Thank you.
Just make sure you say it.
Also, if there are other decoms or other movies that you're like, this is perfect,
you guys should do this, then let us know that.
I will tell you, I read every single comment.
So be nice in there, friends.
Be cool.
Also, big shout to our patrons, patreon.com slash derail rea.
You can sing up their own copy.
It's where Greg and John cover stuff exclusively.
That's where you get discount.
on our merch, reject nation shop.com.
Like, if it wasn't so hot in here,
I would have been wearing this because I wear
almost every day of my life.
Our sweet reject sweater
or all different kinds of fun stuff over there.
So please go support.
That's a great way to do it.
And then you get swaggy merch, baby.
I think there's some jewel tone things there.
This might be considered.
It's jewel tone adjacent.
Exactly.
And as we learned today,
jewel tones are very important.
If you want to be popular.
If you want to be a pop star.
If you want to be a pop star and or popular.
Yeah.
You have to wear adult tones.
Matters a lot to a...
This we learned.
Were you guys paying attention to the jewel tones?
I do love that like when I was first coming up for auditions.
They're like always wear jewel tones.
That was such a 2008.
Jewel tones were the jam.
Then we kind of got away from that.
People were just like, no, we like black, white and gray.
Yeah.
Nobody doesn't color anymore.
Just neutral, neutral.
Yeah.
But that was.
super fun. Another cool thing that you can do on Patreon is you can ask us questions. And we use those
questions to give our review, which we'll get to momentarily. But before we do that, I want to know for
my girl, how do you feel about this movie. I want to know how you felt about it because you've
already seen it, but you forgot a lot. So how was this rewatch for you? And also, as a professional
musician, how do you feel about this movie? I had even more fun than I thought that I would have,
and I did expect to have fun. But this is just like such a core. Camp Rock is.
such a core memory for me
because of the story that I told at the beginning, I think.
Because of your bro.
Brother is, also, we couldn't spend too long on it,
but I had follow up questions like, is he okay?
He was literally so fine. They stitched him up.
Like, he's fine. He has a giant... It didn't even matter.
Camp Rock was way more important. Literally, camp rock was
so much more important. Um,
no, it was so much fun.
I mean, I love...
I guess I, obviously,
I guess I just have not rewatched a lot of movies
from my childhood.
Okay.
So that was really nice.
I'd be really interested in rewatching more.
What are the decoms that you came up on?
High school musical.
Okay.
Okay, yeah, I really got to get to that one.
Did you watch any of the ones that I loved?
Name them.
Okay, so Cheetah Girls you had seen or no?
No.
I don't remember it as much to remember.
Camp Rock.
Because Cheap Girls is like the greatest ever.
Like Smart House.
I have seen.
seen smart houses the house is smart yeah that is that is exactly what that is maybe i've seen it okay
there's a bunch of we can look up drink i don't know i've never heard of oh the skating one um johnny tsunami
nope okay yeah um no my help guys my age is showing um this is this is like something i'm kind of
passionate about so we will get to decomm list and then i will tell you which ones i think you need to
watch and then you can tell me which ones i need to watch because i can do that i missed it um and
But I have a little sister and she's like your age.
And she always is like telling me how not cool I am because I've missed X, Y or Z.
And that's why I need your help because I got to get in with my sis.
So, and with the audience that watches all of the, watch the things that was just like a few years later.
They mean like Hannah Montana.
I watched Hannah Montana.
Missed that.
Because were you with that so Raven person?
I saw like the end of it.
I saw like the end of it.
Okay.
So we got to help each other with our own diagram.
I was a huge Hannah Montana person.
I was a huge, that's a raven.
Yeah.
Because into the future, I can see that's a raven so mysterious to me.
Yeah.
I love Sweet Life, too.
That was like my favorite, favorite.
I miss that, but my sister was all about sweet life of Zach and Cody, right?
I like Riverdale.
I know that that's not that, but that's a Sprouse.
Okay, okay.
We'll get to all that.
That's a Sprouse.
I've never seen Riverdale.
Yeah, but see, listen.
That would actually be kind of an interesting watch, I think.
Yeah, that would put me on it.
It would take a really long time.
Okay, so as a.
Professional musician, though, what did you think about this?
Like, when you're watching this, are you like, okay, these songs are great?
These songs are crap.
They're going with the right voices.
They're going.
They're really, I think that they're really amazing.
I don't want to say children's songs, because when I think of children, thongs, songs.
Oh my God, sorry.
I have a lisp.
And it came back out because we're watching movies for my childhood.
Did you have a lisp growing up?
I did.
Around the time that I would have watched Camp Rock.
so oh my god it came out i feel like a lot of people with list just become singers really yeah i've
heard that before anyway so i continue maybe because you guys have to work like so much on your
addiction and then it makes you very think a lot about um but it's not like kids bob it's disney channel
music but i think in terms of disney channel music it's the songs are great great i mean it's demi
lavato all of honestly all of her music that came out following camp rock as well like get back
wait what are some of her other ones let me look
because I actually don't know Demi's music.
I don't know Demi that well at all.
I don't know her new music as well.
I had a little bit of beef with Demi for a hot second
because of something that she did.
What did she do?
I was not happy about,
but she apologized recently.
And now we,
and like I said,
if somebody apologized for something,
then I believe in forgiving them.
She went to this Froyo place.
That was a mom and pop proyo place
and I love.
And this mom and pop frio place
has like all different things
for people who are gluten-free,
dairy food.
Like they have a million different options.
And she put them on blast and was like,
what is wrong with dessert plate?
This is triggering to me.
What's wrong with dessert place is always promoting diet culture.
But it was like this little mom and pop froyo place.
Like you don't need to cancel them.
It's called Big Chill.
I love them.
Yeah.
And they wrote back and they were just like,
we're so sad and buy this, whatever.
And then it was like six years or seven years later or whatever.
And she just recently came out.
Sorry,
I don't know if their pronouns are they,
them or she.
I don't remember.
I feel like they changed it to fact to the,
she, I think, I think.
But she, so I'm going to say she, but correct me in the comments, please, if I'm wrong.
And she came out and was like, I'm really sorry for doing that.
Yeah.
And I was like, that's so great that you.
Yeah.
Thank you for apologizing.
Thank you for apologizing to that little photo shop.
Um, so we cool, Demi, Demi, who literally is so famous.
Are they married now?
No.
No.
Um, Demi.
Yeah.
And who?
I don't know.
But there's a photo of her in a wedding dress.
Them in a wedding dress.
Oh, they them is.
They're prone.
I don't know.
Okay.
Let's look.
Let's look.
Let's look.
Look, Demi Lovato.
Prona.
Cool for the summer.
Pro.
Oh, I know that song.
26.
Okay.
So it's she they.
Initially used, they, them.
She later adopted Sheher.
Okay.
So we're at Sheher now.
Okay.
You sing it, girl.
I'm curious about Demi Lovato songs.
Disney songs.
Oh, really?
Yeah.
Okay.
So as we're doing that,
will say that this is my first time watching this and while it doesn't have the nostalgia, sorry,
that's okay, I read something. This is me as her debut single. Oh, cool. Mm-hmm. I get why.
It was very good. So this isn't have the nostalgia factor for me that a lot of the decoms have
because I didn't grow up with Demi or the Jonas Brothers and I hadn't seen this before, but I do
100% understand why this movie was as successful as it was to the point where it had to
second one and now is getting a third one.
Like I this totally is so up my alley.
The music, the little romance, the like very strong hit you over the head messages that
really matter when you're growing up.
And you're like, oh yeah, it's not cool to be a mean girl.
It's not cool to like put other people down.
And also it's not good to lie.
And it's not, you know, even if no matter what your parents do like that doesn't talk
about your worth and all that stuff.
So I love that the Disney Channel original movies always.
kind of are like, here is the message of our movie.
You will not miss it because we will say it multiple times.
And sometimes I'm like, yeah, thank you.
Yeah, but I kind of dug that.
Yeah, this is a really good one.
Like, I just, I really, really get why this one is as successful as it is.
Let's get to some of the patron questions.
Sorry, I know we've been shooting.
No, sorry.
You literally just didn't mean Deion.
Sorry.
We'll get to some of the patron questions.
And then we'll look up some of the decoms.
Okay, wait, sorry, right before we do that, what's the deal that you
were telling me with Demi, you were asking me if she was on drugs here?
Oh.
Was that something while she was shooting Camp Rock?
Can you Google it?
Demi, drugs, Camp Rock.
Yeah.
Let's see.
So, oops, I misspelled drugs.
Am I on drugs?
Demi Levato's drug used to escalate shortly after her rise to fame camp rock to cope with intense
bullying and industrial pressure.
She began using Adderall and smuggling.
But at 13, she was already experimenting with opiates and was already
drinking so
sure
probably
huh
falling a car
okay so she didn't
do cocaine
until after camp
rock oh that's such a bummer
I'm
I'm so glad to see
that she's doing so well now
during camp rock
too she was on drugs
okay got it
all right I'm curious to watch that
and see if it impacts
our viewing at all
okay also her documentary
that I think was the series
that came out like a few years ago
incredible watch
it's the one where
some of it
Yeah.
Because, um, correct me if I'm wrong, but she talked about an eating disorder.
Yes, yeah.
Yeah.
Okay.
Okay.
But she comes out and she's like, I'm doing, I'm not giving up all, like, I'm not going
totally like stone cold, sober.
I'm just going to be like sober from drugs and still like drink a little.
And Elton John in the documentary is like, it's not going to fucking work.
It's funny.
I just like that he says it's not going to work.
All right.
Let's get to the Patreon question.
Okay.
Just to talk more about this movie that we both enjoyed.
Uh, let's go in with Captain.
Fernand's thank you to Captain
Fernandez sorry who says
excluding this is me
bummer what's your favorite song
from this movie
I don't think I could name any other
song from this movie there's the one that Peggy
sings at the end no one's great there's that
the one that Jonah
the Joe Jonas brothers all sang
together there's the one Joe Jonas
sang on the docks
then there's the one that
the blonde bully
does oh I'm sorry can we talk about
Okay, we'll talk about that afterwards.
I'm all over the place, but we need to talk about how she stole the notebook and that never ended up.
Oh, yeah, we need to.
Yeah.
What's your favorite song from this movie?
I love Austa Le Vista is stuck in my head.
And then whatever the song was that they sang the opening night, the girl that was like, if you're going to be my guy.
Oh, okay.
They sing it in the mess hall.
Yeah, that was fun.
Those two are my favorite.
Let's see.
Even like this is me, like, I, okay, I did love it when it came out, but I remember even like at 10 being like, it's a little cringe.
but that's because I wasn't yet in my
This is Real This Is Me Era
So maybe I thought it was cringe
Because I hadn't done the development yet
See I so didn't find that in the fifth grade
Okay so the songs in this
We rock, play my music
Gotta find you start the party
Who will I be?
This is me, Ossile Vista
Here I am too cool
I'm just reading all them
Our time is here
Two stars and what it takes
You go what it takes to be
My man
Yeah, I like that one too.
This is me.
It was just super duper my favorite.
It's so good.
Yeah, that was definitely my favorite.
I did like, Who Will I be?
Yeah, but one really stood out for me,
and it's the one that you said I couldn't name.
So sorry, Captain.
All right, hit me with Care Bear.
Care Bear asks,
Hi, R&J.
Camp Rock was at the peak of Jonas Brothers Fever
with thousands of frantic adoring tweens.
Question.
If you could go back in time and cast your boy band of choice in a movie musical,
which group of coiffed crooners would you pick?
Good on you.
I would not have been able to say quiffed crooners.
Okay.
So does it have to be boy band?
I think it can be what you want.
Okay.
I'm like a rock and roll girl in my whole soul.
So I definitely would go with a rock band,
but I feel like that's not what you're asking about.
I think that this question...
I can't think of any other boy bands, though.
Really?
Big time rush.
They had a show.
Oh, yeah, I've heard.
There's one guy from that that I know he was on another show.
What is that guy?
I don't know any of their names.
Okay, so I grew up with, like, Backstreet Boys, 90 degrees, in sync.
I was up.
Yeah.
I was not here.
Mm-hmm.
And then, like, even more, like, pop rock, like, smash mouth or, like, Blink 182.
Blink 182 would be sick.
That would have been amazing.
But is Blink 182 a boy band?
No, that's why I'm saying.
Like, that's more.
punk pop
I loved
Panic at the disco
I think they slap, honestly
I would watch that movie
I feel like it would have been really fun
to see Backstreet Boys or in sync
I would have a blast with that
What?
Dep of a Bachelor
What?
I'm gonna get the disco.
Okay, girl.
I used to be able to play that on the ukulele.
Damn.
All right, let's get to...
We're gonna get to Jay Rushden.
All right.
Question, what was your favorite rock song
for karaoke and what female rock star
would you cosplay?
Roxy would be a great Stevie Nix.
Oh, this is a nice thing anybody ever said to me.
And Jackie would be a great Joan Jett.
Oh, my God, that is like beyond kind.
Nice.
J. Rushden, you're my favorite patron.
Jay.
There are no two greater rock stars than Stevie Nix and Joan Jett.
So thank you for those unbelievable compliments.
And I think that we have to pick them for who we would cosplay then because you said that we would be them.
So yes, we should cosplay Stevie Nix and Joan Jett.
I'll stick with that be.
Favorite rock song for karaoke?
I feel like it's a weird question to ask you because you probably do covers or like.
I do do covers with my band, but they're not the songs that I would sing at karaoke because it'd be more interesting.
I always sing before he cheats and misery business at karaoke.
Oh, interesting.
Or if I'm at this one bar that I like to go to, then I'm not going to name for YouTube.
If I go there for karaoke, it has an older crowd, so I'll do Linda Ronstadt long, long time.
Bring the House down.
Really great.
Really great choices.
Wow, I did a really good job catching myself there.
I like Seven Nation Army.
So great.
And I like it or if we're like in a vibe your mood, I like Iris.
I also will do a lot of Alanis.
So it's always fun to do like ironic or yeah, so great, right?
That's an absolute blast of a song.
Thank you for the question.
Do you have a different answer to who you would cosplay if it was not Joan Jett?
In my band, I like actively try to dress like Stevie Nix.
But I think I end up looking like a pirate.
I don't know.
Well, Stevie kind of looks like a pirate sometimes.
Yeah, I think I keep back.
Well, I'm just trying to dress very 70s.
So I look like a pirate.
How come?
It's just the vibe that you.
I just, I feel like every outfit that I put together,
I just like end up looking like a pirate because it's like it's a long skirt that
usually like has some element of high low or like a slit.
And then I wear boots.
But it's not what you wear in day to day life.
well I dress different than I dress day to day for the channel because I just try to
when I'm doing music stuff I feel like much more comfortable wearing lower cut tops
but for YouTube I'm like oh okay yeah but I'll wear like a tight top because I thought you're
trying to say because the word reject I don't know I was like I'm not I was like I'm
and then I'll wear like tight tops with like lace peeking out and then like always a waist belt
so I look like a so no jewel tone while you're performing
I feel like that might be a mistake.
We learn today.
Well, I think, yeah, I need to add more jewel tone.
I do a lot of gene lace.
Cool.
Very cool.
The time has come that we have to talk about something.
I'm fired.
We have to talk about something.
The notebook.
The notebook, dude.
And I'm not talking about the movie.
I love the movie, though.
Here's my one qualm with the movie, and I understand that it's not cool to have qualms with decoms.
And who cares?
I love this movie anyway.
Did they not set themselves up the whole time for she was going to steal the song to try to get the guy?
I'm wondering if they meant to put that in a,
and then forgot.
Just like the A camera
forgot to pull focus.
Well that happened.
Well, that was wild.
Like, no, because she stole it
and then they didn't do anything with it.
First, when Demi first sings a song,
she's like, can I see that?
She's like, yeah, and she looks at the lyrics.
I was like, okay, so she memorized the mirror.
Then she knows where she keeps it
and she pulls the notebook.
And then nothing happens.
And then it's about the bracelet.
And I'm like, what?
Wait, because you've been trying to get the boy.
That was such a,
It's like halfway through filming where they like we want to have tests.
Yeah, yeah, actually please.
Why did Tess Camp Rock steal the notebook?
Yeah, there.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Okay.
Camp Rock doesn't make any sense.
Tess notebook to confirm that Mitchie was a mysterious girl.
Schengro was searching for.
Oh.
So she just stole it to learn that.
She just stole it to find out.
Just recognized a song.
Oh, so she.
Tess's ultimate goal was to steal.
But then why didn't she do it if that was her ultimate goal?
After confirming the song belonged to Mitchie, she planned her own charm, planted the charm bracelet.
Oh, because of the song.
Why didn't she just take the song?
Oh, wait.
Selena Gomez?
What?
Why did Selena Gomez turn down Camp Rock?
Oh, that's interesting.
Selena goes.
Oh, wow.
Oh, that's really nice.
Huh.
Oh.
Already had her breakout.
Okay, so they don't know what you're talking about because you just, I'm just talking.
Selina, this says, Selena knew that if she passed on it, Demi would get the part.
Gomez already had her breakout role as Alex Russo and Mozers Waverly Place and apparently
in an effort to help Lovato catch her own break.
She gave up the role.
That's interesting.
I'm curious how she feels about that now, but I do think that Selena definitely has made every single
correct career choice clearly based on where she is.
It didn't seem to hurt her much, and it did seem to make Demi's career.
So good on them.
She made a bad marriage choice, though.
Sorry.
Why?
He says weird stuff about her.
There's, like, compilation videos.
He's, like, kind of disrespectful, yeah.
Wow, that has not been what I have heard.
Okay, I wanted to see, did Demi, Levato, and JoJoan's date?
Yes.
Oh, thank God.
Thank God.
Yes.
They dated for a brief period in the spring of 2010.
after they filmed the sequel.
Ooh, so there's going to be chemistry there.
All right.
Our girl Jackie has been filming all day, so we have to let her go.
Also, we are done.
So that's why we're going to go.
Other than what we talked about,
is there anything else Camp Rock related
that you have to tell the people?
If you like Camp Rock and you love people following their dreams,
you should probably follow my band's Instagram.
at Lucy the band official.
Lucy the band official.
Thank you.
Because we learned today,
you have to repeat something multiple times,
right, for them to.
Oh, yes.
Yeah, yeah.
Lucy the band official.
Lucy the band official.
The band is called Lucy the band.
Our live album is coming out at the end of August
if I get my shit together.
Well, we've also learned in this
that you can record a demo for the next day.
You didn't know, just go into the studio and then the next day.
It's ready to send.
That's what they said.
We don't have to mix her master.
No, just.
You didn't already know that.
That's a lot.
I know, that's weird.
I didn't know that.
That's weird that the Jones brothers didn't teach you.
Wow, it really does affect the volume when I move it.
Wow.
Sorry, guys.
I'm still new here.
Girl, you are wild in in this review, and I'm loving that for us.
Oh, let us know how you guys are feeling about everything.
We'll see you for Camp Rock, too.
We're rock stars.
Bye.
