Okay, so we just watched season one, episode one and two of Chucky. I would say that this started off with a bang. We agreed. Before we get into our thoughts, just as a reminder to everybody, so here's the deal.

Starting point is 00:03:15 We don't know how long we have in us for this. We want to do all of the seasons. Okay, so I'm not surprised because you guys told us when we read the comments that this was really good, but I am happy that this was really good because it's such a good base. Like, I like our characters. I like Jake. I'm intrigued by Jr.

Starting point is 00:04:19 I don't think he's the evil person that they were trying to, like, show us. I'm curious about Lexi and like what's going on with her. her home life. I love Lexi's sister. She's a really cool character. I like Devin. I'm interested in Devin's cop mother and like how that happened. What's going on there? I'm interested in... Devon's a hacker slash guy, right? Yep. I'm interested in the aunt and what her secret is. I'm interested in the uncle and how hard he pushes Jr. and why Jr. seems to be nervous about Jake living there. We only watched two episodes. I think you and I usually afterwards are like, who's that person? what's that person? And it's like, I know a whole ensemble cast right now because they were all

Starting point is 00:05:01 intriguing to me, every single one of them. I agree with you. I don't remember any of the names because you guys know me and my memory, but I absolutely agree with you that I am set on board. It's really hard for a show, especially with a pilot, to get us, um, sometimes they have to just focus on one character for us and then episode we find out more. We found out a lot about a lot of the characters within the very first episode. And for them to leave us on that cliffhanger is just like, brilliant. I also love the writing in this that even the teachers like right off the bat were like, she's like, shut the fuck up, you know, which I, I loved. Yeah, but she says that to the guy who's kind of a bully. Who's being a jerk. Shut the fuck up. Like, yes, girl. That's what we

Starting point is 00:05:47 were missing, which we said that in Trotsby 2019, the maturity of what Chucky, the OG brings us. And the OG Chucky is here and it's bringing us all of that plus more, plus like secrets that we're like, they're taking their time to reveal. And I love that the setup of Chucky just being like, listen to everything I say. And he makes him a ventriloquist and kind of outs these people in a way and really isolates him to be like, I really am your only friend. He's kind of doing things that are not great. I think that the kid. No, they're abusive. He punches him and says I'll never do it again. Totally. Like what's the kids, the main kid's name? Jake. Thank you. Like, but he's getting Jake in this isolated environment sort of like being in an abusive relationship, right? That you say sorry, you'll never do it again and gets him on his side. And we're now set up to see, is he really going to make Jake a killer? Yeah. Like, wow, that is so intriguing. I think because this is a show about a person in eighth grade, there is no redemption for us turning,

Starting point is 00:06:57 Chucky turning Jake into a murderer. Like, and we have a whole multiple season arc. I think that it's got to be Jake, even without a mom, even without a dad, even without the guidance. He is so pure and he still has his mom and his soul and he rises above and takes the high road. I hope that that's what we see.

Starting point is 00:07:18 Yeah. I don't want to watch a show about a 13-year-old murderer. Right. I do want to see Charles Lee Ray as a kid more. I want to see more of those flashbacks. I want to know more about his life. I do want to know about the parent dynamics in this because I am a true believer in both nature and nurture.

Starting point is 00:07:34 And both those things kind of come from the parents. Like, let's see it. Let's see how it goes. I also am a lover of love, ship or ships. I think that Devin and Jake would be such a cute couple. And it's like I am when we did this seven minutes in hell, I can't lie to you. I was like, make out.

Starting point is 00:07:51 I wanted him to kiss. Let's get your first kissing, kids. Yeah. Because upstairs we got bitch-ass Lexi and junior, and it's like, y'all are rolling around, but the good people don't get to kiss. Right, right. You know? Yeah, exactly.

Starting point is 00:08:07 I know they're in eighth grade. I'm not like, yeah, but I'm like, you know, it's like a peck would be nice. Yeah, I absolutely agree. I also think that even Chuckie getting him on his side, like I don't want Jake to become a murderer, but you know what I do think has happened with Chuckie being in his life, gave him the confidence to maybe go back in there and tell Lexi like don't effing do that like you shouldn't be pretending to be my dad like he was like ready He did that. He didn't. I wish he didn't. I wanted that monologue. He was really close, though, and I think the only reason he got close is because Chucky is pushing him in a weird different way. Do you think that there's a world in which Chucky is good for Jake?

Starting point is 00:08:44 I do. A little bit. A little bit. A little bit. A little bit. I do. And it's very weird. I don't think you're wrong. But oh, my God. I know. It's a hot take. It's a hot take. But I do in a little bit of ways because he has been so ostracized and so bullied. And he's even being bullied a little bit by Chuckie. I mean, the fact that Chuckie knocked him out, you know, Chuckie is a dick, right? And he's like, you can kill the housekeeper, you can kill the babysitter. We know where Chuck's morals lie. But also, you know, it's in this writing, they give Chuck like a bit of a heart where he's like,

Starting point is 00:09:20 he killed his dad because his dad was kind of abusive and an absent father. So they kind of make the audience where you're like, you're on Chuck's side, but you're not. because he doesn't, he's just a killer, man. He likes to kill. But I do think that Jake is just, he's so alone here that if he didn't have Chuckie who really saved him in the middle of that, that assembly where Lexi's like going ham on him, trying to out a 13-year-old to be like, you two would be great.

Starting point is 00:09:51 Okay, all right, all right, all right. I can't hear this anymore, Tara, because you're saying it like Chuckie's doing this for Jake. Chuckie's a liar. Chuck he's doing it for Chuckie. Chuckie says to Jake, I didn't kill the housekeeper. He did. Chuckie went and delivered an apple with the razor to a stranger because he wants to kill people.

Starting point is 00:10:09 Right. Like, it's not like Chuckie's sitting there like, enough's enough about Jake. He's like, oh, this is my inn to go be a murderous fuck. I agree. I can't have you out here standing up for Chuckie, even though he's our man. He's our man. I'm not going to, I'm not going to side with you on Chuck he's here for Jake. It's all he has.

Starting point is 00:10:28 A little bit he helped Jake. A little bit he helped Jake. In that assembly, he helped him. Yeah, we've seen him in the past help people when it's good for him. Yeah. That's not real help. I know, but I just, I'm like, oh, poor Jake. Remember when the dead destroys the art and you out of nowhere said, that's worse than hitting him?

Starting point is 00:10:48 I did. I just was like, in my. You were just saying how bad it is. How bad. I felt the same thing it is. I felt the pit in my stomach when that happened. Yeah. Like, it's just like, if.

Starting point is 00:10:58 the dad had slapped him across the face it hits it hits just as hard in your soul and in your heart as destroying his art like he did i mean him to go like i found it in trash cans went to yard sales like that piece of art looked like it took the kid years and that's just that's such a destructive thing like that made me really hate the dad so much and then of course we saw he's obviously drunk when there's a drunk gets drunk and he gets mad which he obviously does that there's no bounds. There's no limits. And we obviously saw him, you know, push him up. And I was like, yeah, that's, that makes sense. Do you think that that phone call came from Andy Barkley? Yes, it sounded like him. I hope that it did. I hope that we see more. I want to see Andy in this series. Yeah,

Starting point is 00:11:41 I'd love to see him pop in. I'd love to see Jennifer Tilly pop in. I would love to see the OG mom pop in. However, I've heard from the people that she said she doesn't believe in horror movies, so she'll never or come back to the franchise, which is a bummer. What about Detective Mike? Like, there's people that are still in play. The girl who was almost like the big sis to Andy that, like, took him under her wing. There are people who could come through here. Doesn't believe in horror movies.

Starting point is 00:12:11 Sorry, I still, like, kind of not over that yet. That's what the people told us. I didn't hear it, but that's what the people said. So if you trust the people, then that's what they did. Such an odd thing. Okay. All right. Anyway.
