for sponsoring this video more on them
in just a bit
it's time the tournament is on
let's do this thing people
that they earned the shit out of that edd that was that was oh my god god it felt such like an 80s movie
yeah that was brilliant oh i love that ending what a way to go out it's like yeah you need
the balance of being able to earn a moment like that man they earned that that was so good
Yeah. Oh, guys. Thank you for sharing in this insanity with us.
We're going to talk about the episode now, but if you're listening to this on Apple or Spotify, leave us a kindly rating.
I won't even tell you what to rate. You know. You know in your heart.
And, hey, we got cool merch and gear in the Rejectnationshop.com story. You should go check that out, too.
But moreover, we should appreciate cinema because Gat, as the kids,
would say what an episode yeah and uh you know before i pass the mic off along to you guys
i feel like you know it's always interesting ending a show and i feel like especially in any
action oriented show you know it usually comes down i didn't every time i go into the second
or last episode or something i do i know deep down but never quite expect how tumultuous
and action you know how many active resolutions will happen so this is like yeah the tournament happens
and i know we got one more fight but like so much has concluded and so much has has you know uh reached
its climax as of this episode and now there's one to go and i know part of what to expect from that
and part of it the coda you know i'm very curious about but gang guys yes i want to know how you
both are feeling uh starting off with andrew yeah
No, I'm, uh, this is why we watch movies and TV shows. It, it helps us, you know, get away from what's going on in our daily lives. And this is why I'm such a huge karate kid and gopric eye fan. I mean, these guys have just really like, I already loved the karate kid series, but what these writers have done, uh, how they've elevated the lore paying respect and also they created this next generation. And all these callbacks that, as Greg said, they really are.
earn these callbacks and they insert them
in such beautiful ways that are not
distracting, but they make you appreciate them.
I have so many
different things I want to talk. I'll try and be as
brief as I can.
But I
love that they're again calling
callback is a word I'm going to use often
in this review, but I'll try not
to be too tedious with it.
But I will say that I love
that we're going off of what Johnny
set off to do in season two
before Creece kind of
interrupted and took that away from him before, obviously, the whole school fight and such.
He wanted to make Cobra Chi a different way.
Like, he saw how the fight went at the All Valley at the end of season one.
And even though they won, he was not happy about that.
He saw the way they won.
They fought dirty.
He's like, this is not, like, this is Creeze.
Even though Creece was not yet there at that All Valley, he came at the later part of that episode.
He's like, this feels like Creece is, even though I taught these kids, like, I've taught them Creece's way.
This is not my way.
And this is not how I want to win.
This is not how I want to nurture and teach the next generation.
And we were setting out to do that with Johnny.
And the fact that we got back here.
And that's what Daniel is like, hey, it's not Cobra Chi.
Like, it's you.
And that's who I'm putting my trust into him.
Like, that speaks near and dear to my heart.
And there was a moment, too, I kind of said when him and Miguel were talking on the parking lot where he first defended
Miguel against, I believe it was Kyler, you know, with the Peptobismol and all that, and I believe
it's the first episode of season one. And I said right there before Johnny said it, I said, nope,
you're in the wrong frame of mind. And I said that, not because it was a prediction by my end.
That's how I would think when I'm talking to my students. And again, I'm sorry if I'm repeating
myself when I, you know, if you guys are sick of me saying, stop. We don't care about what you,
what you are mentioning with your students. But you are a sense, Andrew. In a sense, yes, I am.
that's like that's why the show just i love these characters and the show just speaks to me so much uh and resonates with me is because i have the same frame of mind as miagi and and
i won't go all the way with johnny but they're now that with this arc that johnny and the way johnny has developed now that he's kind of got the skeletons out of his closet and like you know um and the snake uh shed uh you know the the skin is shed off of him um i i do have that frame of mind of like i love where we have come now
with these characters and like, you know, learning to fight with honor and learning to fight for
the right things. Like, whether you win or lose, you're still, like, you're winning. You know what I mean?
There's lessons to be learned here. And that's what I try to instill with my students.
You can still win the honor without winning the points. And I try to teach them like, look,
stuff is going to happen out there on the ball, when you're out there hitting or even fielding.
And that's okay. You know, it is a game of failure. It's a game of adjustments.
But I need you in the right frame of mind of thinking if you panic out there.
And, you know, get in your own mind, that's where things are going to, you're going to make it even tougher in yourself.
Try to have a plan up there. And when things don't go your way, it's okay. I want you to, you know, keep your mind clear and go off of feel and go off of confidence.
And if it doesn't go your way, that's fine. We will figure it out. But, you know, if you were working hard and training hard and you are doing it with confidence, I'm proud of you and I'm happy. And we're good. You know what I mean?
So I like that this show has just really gotten to that point in terms of with Johnny and he's got that full arc because back in the day he would like he would not have that that kind of mindset and like and also with Daniel like seeing him like embrace again not Cobra Chi but Johnny's style of doing Cobra Cuy like it's Johnny that he believes in like I just moments like that and then we're Tori I'm going to really quickly I'm not going to get into it because I'll like Greg but I this is probably my favorite season of with Tori.
And I think this show has a way of doing things where, like, you're angry with a certain character, but then, like, later in a season or in a couple of scenes later, like, oh, you embrace and love a character.
Like, Dimitri was extremely annoying to me this entire season.
And now in the later half, I'm like, okay, they haven't shown him a ton this, this part three.
But now I'm fully back on the Demetri train.
And then, Tori, like, we were meant to not like her a lot in season two.
But understand her, understand where she's coming from.
and now oh my god like now when you see everything in full context to where we've come now when
you rewatch you're like oh my god this is such a fully fleshed out character and she's an
incredible written character as well as many of the other characters so i got more to say but
i don't want to keep talking taking all the talking points so uh let you guys go it's all good
it's all good it's it's funny even that thing with dmitri kind of factors into the themes of
the show in a broadway you know it's not about necessarily the most elite high fancy school it's
more who you're training with and who you're inspired by but uh gee how are your feelings
i feel um um sad to see the show go yeah man this the lot the it's it's such a weird journey
they put us on with the with the final season it really is like not not just like for the ones
who are watching it when the part ones and two's come out like it's strange
because when you look at it they're like yeah they are telling like a different chapter each part
each part is telling a different chapter and in like typical screenplay structure with with most movies
maybe you don't know this or maybe you do maybe you've noticed on your own maybe you're heard somewhere
else usually what happens when before you get to a third act of a script is like the typical
version but before you get to a third act something happens with the character usually in these
this is called the all is lost moment where they start to revert back to where they were at act one of their journey and i think that's what they were doing with the final season with some of these characters is reverting back before we get to the finale which is part three where you see the full payoff of their growth and so in retrospect there's like a lot of things i'm really respect i'm not actually i the part with the tory side that i had an issue with the part that i think all three of
us did was it seemed like after she like ran off the mat after fighting with sam in the uh who's
going to be captain match no one was like let's try to reach out to tory and talk to her yeah so just showed
up the psychotic icon just that you know uh and maybe they did but it's all off screen but who knows
so that was the but but but but in terms of her character development she's absolutely she's my
favorite season of tory of paidon payton list let's not pay to read uh paden list uh would would yeah
with Peyton Manning with Payton List
her
her acting I think is so strong
she moved me so much in that monologue where
she's recapping how far she's come
but in a show like Cobra Kai you can get away
with recapping how far you've come
it's part of the the charm
and the tone of it
of the bit of like the soap operiness
of what the cobra Kai world is
and watching her win
was just so rewarding
the fights were incredible
They were some of the best choreography they've done.
I agree.
I know there's like a massive quantity
and it's really long runtime of the crazy final match or brawl in the end of part two.
I like these fights more because these fights,
they're weighted in so much more emotion.
It's not just crazy.
The emotion of the one-on-one matches.
And they're also not building what I thought was really cool about how they built these two.
matches was it it wasn't about what walking in and going oh god i want to see zara get taken down
i want to see axel get taken down it wasn't about that you know we've had those fights before like when
when when uh daniel knocks out terry like you want to see terry go down yeah this was about
what they were fighting for as individuals you know for what mcgale was fighting for as an individual
the love and growth
what
Tori's fighting for
like to literally just go from
I'm fighting out of like
I don't know
I mean there's a lot of ways you can better
but anyway leading with love
like she ends up leading with love
because of what Robbie tells her
so I think
the character
trajectory of all them is so strong
and then to
bring it back to
all this stuff with Cobra Kai
because this is
I remember
brought me back to when we first watch
I think I reacted to the first
episode like Ashley
Andrew at the time.
Like it's not you guys, right?
And the
first episode was
Johnny Lawrence. But when
the show was announced, most people
were like, ah,
Ralph Machio's returning, right?
That's like the big talk because he's
Daniel the Roosso. He's the karate kid.
Right. And that first
episode had to do so much
to get you on board with like,
agreed. Hey, it's as much as it does become Johnny and Danny show, I'm like, I haven't forgotten. This is Johnny's show. You know, at the end of the day, as great of an ensemble this is, if there was a lead, it'd be Johnny, at least for me. Yeah, I agree. And to bring it back full circle with that, that, hey, Cobra Kai, watch the Cobra Kai art. This is what he started with. Look at the journey with that. He's had with Miguel. It's Johnny Lawrence's story to bring it back for him having the final match. I think is,
just brilliant. Like it's it's it's rewarding cathartic payoffs that you don't quite anticipate
and they're doing it in a way that feels natural really thought out considerate and and uh for a
show that's a discuss a lot about honor. I think they're honoring the karate kid and the cobra
series legacy really well. I think it's really well done. I think it's very very well done and they also
know how to have their phone when you get your like epic showdown boat blowing up match. I would it
And that's the thing with the show.
I wouldn't be surprised at one of them's lost.
I was thinking that after it happened.
Terry's a shock.
Terry Silver is going to emerge with half his face burnt off.
Two-faced.
Yeah.
Two-face style.
Or Gus-Gust style.
Yeah.
And he's going to come into the thing with an exposed robos skull.
I mean, yeah, like, and it's one of those things where you're like, the only way for
either of these two to go out.
Like, as much as you want to see Crease become like, grandpa crease and, like, get
to live out, like, this newly adjusted.
life that he is you know kind of epiphanied into at the same time you're sort of like well as long as
as terry breathes he's going to be conniving the only way to do this is to blow him up or something or
some kind of yet definitive way he could ever come back uh even though he's the kind of character
who would have like a hundred contingency plans that are going to enact upon the moment of
his death or whatever but yeah like it's fun because i think one of the great things about
cobra Kai across the show has been
the fact that they can kind of
they have this interesting spectrum of genres and
heights versus like intimate earnest depths
and that certainly the showdown on the boat is like a height
where you're like is this getting this is bordering on being like two over the
top all right I'll admit it and maybe you guys have noticed
during the holidays
I let myself go a little bit.
I put on some weight, and for the past 10 days,
I have successfully been in a caloric deficit.
This whole new eating regimen,
so staying extra hydrated has been quite crucial for me lately.
So while I've been drinking tons of water,
I've also been incorporating today's sponsor.
Again, a product I have already been using
since before we partner with them, liquid ivy.
So here's why I've been leaning on their sugar-free hydration multiplier.
One stick in 16 ounces of water hydrates better than water alone.
It's powered by their LIV hydroscience formula,
which delivers three times the electrolytes of the leading sports drinks,
packed with essential vitamins like B12 and vitamin C,
giving me that extra boost to support recovery and energy levels.
And the flavors, honestly, they're incredible,
and sometimes I just mix them with my protein shakes,
or I just drink them on their own.
Every one I've tried is refreshing, smooth.
It doesn't have that overly sweet after taste you get with some other products.
All in all, I'm very grateful for liquid IV.
Again, I've already been using their product.
While this is yes and agreed upon endorsement,
I was like, well, it's a no-brainer to endorse them,
considering how much benefits I feel when I use their product.
It's made saying hydrated so much easier.
So whether you're working out or cutting calories or just pushing through a busy day and don't
want to take caffeine, it's one of the quickest simplest ways to give your body what it needs
to feel its best.
So like even if you're not on a strict diet or intense workout plan, staying properly hydrated,
supports energy levels, focus, and just overall wellness.
I mean, let's face it, we could all use a little bit more balance in our lives.
So if you've been thinking about trying it or even if you haven't, take this as a sign.
The fact that you've made it this far, take it as a side.
Head to Liquidiv.com and use code Rejects for 20% off your first order.
That's 20% off when you use code Rejects at LiquidIV.
Give it a try.
Made such a difference for me, and I think it will for you too.
Thank you again, Liquid Ivy.
Reject Nation, how are you feeling?
I've been thinking a lot about feelings lately.
Maybe because it's New Year's resolutions, they can be tough to stick to, don't you know?
I can't count how many times I've set a goal only to let it fizzle out by February.
But what if some of those goals could be made?
automatic you just need a good transition to talk about it and you know what i'm excited to talk about it
and it's today's sponsor acorns why i'm excited because i personally use acorns myself so it's exciting just to share it
with all of you because they make it incredibly easy to start automatically saving and investing so your money
has a chance to grow you know you've always heard that forever have your money worked for you and this is a great
opportunity to do it here's what was told to me before i signed up and i found it to be absolutely true number one
you don't need to be an expert they recommend a diverse portfolio that fits your goal
You don't need a ton of money.
You can start investing with as little as $5 or whatever spare change you got.
And it's quick.
You can set up your account and start investing in like five minutes.
Because if you're anything like me, investing always felt intimidating.
I felt like it was exclusive for like the people who had Rich Dad pour down when they were like
two years old.
But Acorns, they made it simple.
And it is pretty cool, like relief feeling how every month I get to check out my Acorn's
account.
Watch it grow for a better financial future.
It's pretty awesome.
So I've seen firsthand how powerful it can be.
And there's also another reject here.
won't say who it is but it's one of the one of the two women good clue where they were telling me
a story before i signed up for acorns how one time it actually got them out of a very big financial
bind and that always stuck with me because it's a reminder that small actions we take today can
make a huge difference down the line if you've been thinking about getting started with investing
or you just know you got to get it going here's your sign right now you head to acorns dot com
slash rejects or dial on the Acorns app
to start saving and investing for your future
today. Once again, acorns.com
slash rejects. Supporting them, supports the channel,
but more importantly, it supports your bank account.
Because of the subject matter, there's one thing I gotta say.
Payne on client endorsement. Compensation provides incentive to positively promote
Acorn. Contest to provide investing involves risk.
Acorns advisor LLC and SEC, registered investment advisor.
Review important disclosure to acorns. Thank you again, acorns for sponsoring
this video.
But it's usually on this show
just right. Even the VR thing.
It's like over the top in a way that kind of
suits how Cobra Kai does over the top.
on occasion and I think it's really fun that they've been able to make something that has like
there's a lot of hearkening to those 80s you know fight movies and stuff like that and I think
one thing about I mean especially the karate kid but even the more jacked up muscled out badass ones
that Johnny himself would be watching even though cheesy like they have big emotion they're at
least trying to go for like a really saturated tone of emotion so that you can sit there at the end and go yeah
you know and I think it's really fun the way that they've woven that throughout the show this chunk of the show this last unit of season six has been the most consistently sort of emotional and and heartfelt and you are again just due to the the essence of a wrap-up if it's going well you want all the themes to come back and to really remind you what the journey has been but it was like cool to get an episode like this that really
well encapsulates that side the yeah the heart pounding like yes get him like i want to see you
rise to the occasion you know tori miguel even and even an axel zara not so much but uh axel you
want even him in the fight to just choose to fight honorably and that's again a nice nuance to throw at
that and that's like in the middle because it's heightened it's it's in the throw of a battle
uh but you know it's it's well kind of structured and grounded within the show
and then later on you can take these characters who do have sort of this more wild background
and who have you know like crease has been off with pimei in korea is a million years old
you know sensei and they have their history in the war and like stuff like that feels like
it's borrowing from other movies too so like to isolate them at the end for this like crazy
badass showdown on the end of an episode that has been otherwise so kind of grounded and heartfelt
like is a swing in a way it's kind of a risk even though i feel like again
we're all liking the show to the point if you've made it this far you probably like the show
enough to the point to cut her to break but i think it's actually like it isn't an earned choice
even though it is kind of breaking away from again some of the more grounded aspects of the
reality and uh and even the switcheroo of that terry ordering his uh go his al young danny trejo
uh spliced henchman to uh you know go you know to intimidate carman and the baby and all that
stuff and then crease coming in and killing that guy and it reminds you
you too he's like oh yeah no he would kill this guy uh and so yeah i don't know there's so many
interesting soups and flavors and it's neat to behold that because this has been shining so
much on the themes and these fights as as you've often pointed out it's the story it's the
emotion like a cool fight is one thing but a well choreographed fight with a real story to it is
another and uh i mean i think even the choreography is better yeah beyond that too like i think
all this story and emotions first and foremost and that's what's made it so good but i think just
the choreography alone is better than the craziness of the brawl yeah yeah and this also too for
where we are and for the the back and forth of the conversation about like oh cobra kai slash miagi
do in the sikai tai at all like the way these are choreographed really just sells the moment of like
no these are the fighters who seem like they ought to be here if these were and the all the fighters
not only was the choreography great i love too and it seemed like you guys did well i love that
they were cutting back to flashback transitions with Miguel everything that he had learned
and everywhere to the point where he had come to like full circle again um i thought that was
yeah i thought that was uh just brilliant editing um just to show like how far he's come from
the nerdy kid he used to be to the champ that he is now and again fighting honorably like
you mentioned uh i also just really quickly really has that uh like a massive physical
transformation hasn't he's had like the medoria glow of yeah he went for like a little like a dweeb
yeah to like wow you're so cool yeah look when you get a hot girlfriend like sam you you got to hit the gym okay
but um i mean look all look also too i i will just you usually hit the gym first to get the hot
whatever not not when you're sorry okay um but and and and then i'll let you in that because
yeah and that also i think nicely illustrates that miguel i think is the other if you had to boil
down the main character of the show in the legacy side it's johnny and in the you know next gen side it's
Miguel and so to have all those clips come back and there are clips that are shared between them at the training the tutelage I think is a nice compliment to each other and I do like that in this fight he won honorably whereas at the end of season one at the all valley against Robbie he did not fight he fought dirty against Robbie and so like again coming back full circle I also do like just really quickly piggybacking back off of what Greg said about Tori like how you know she was talking to the Laruso's about how important they have
been and you know where she has come and how nice they have been to her i think that was a nice
commentary on just like how strong of a person she is but also like when we're down and out in life
we need a strong support system around us because i've been there in life too whether it's
depression or whatever and having such a strong support system around me is like yeah i am a fighter
which i'm willing to acknowledge but i'm also strong enough to admit like without my strong
support system like the one she had
I would not be able to have
uplifted myself too so I think
there's a combination there and I appreciate that
the show acknowledge that as well as Tori
well and you feel the weight of the trust
that has been built because there's been
so much distrust
and hurt trust and broken trust
and you know especially
with Tori and so like
I really felt the weight of like no
these people have proven that they have
at least the motivation
to support your
best interest yeah and of course like we know where they were at the beginning of season three like
they wanted this this uh they wanted tory arrested and expelled and all that and like it's really
come uh it's the development of the relationships is really uh earned and last thing i'll say and
oh way i was sorry before i forget it's just like something you said just made me think of
stingway for some reason oh and i remember like the first episode of this season he was here
yeah right brought back cobra kai and johnny was posed of that question right right and i remember
I remember watching that
on the rewatch me
I'm like what the hell's the point of this
season? Like knowing where
this comes, knowing like how part
two ends. I'm like I don't even get with the purpose
of this. I thought it was just like a
cameo from Sting where they just made here of like
why would Johnny possibly be posed with the
question of bringing back Kobe guy
and I'm like oh now it makes sense
that's a great point
and he had the recording of crease too
which is kind of symbolizes the
redemption that the relationship between crease and johnny lawrence as well so that's a that's a great
point i also too last thing for me i love the the stingrail be in his corner yeah exactly i also i also
love the theme too that we've been honing on this uh season of let learning to let go you got miguel
with sam like not freaking out in that moment and he loves her so much that he's willing to let go and
allow her to travel to okinawa where he knows she's going to be happy there but they can still
maintain a relationship. Daniel as well, allowing her to travel there. But Daniel also learned
to let go of his hatred towards not just Cobra Kai, but the idea of Johnny doing Cobra Chi
because he trusts in Johnny. And I like that theme that we're really building upon there
and like executing. I think it's just really well done in this season. Yeah. And it makes me really
excited to see the ultimate full circle of like it's been really cool to watch like, oh, Tori's training
Sam but now Sam's training Tori and
Robbie and Miguel are training together
and so now to have Johnny
being you know
mentored for these this last fight by
Daniel makes a lot of sense because it
seems like this is truly
in a spiritual way like the edge
that could help him face this real
like cut throat fighting
machine yeah in Wolf
Louis Tan like he's going to need the
the Zen and the sort of redirecting energy
and it's the full circle of Johnny being the underdog now
with the last tournament.
Yeah, that's a good point.
Danny.
I can see Daniel right now as his sense saying sweep the leg.
That's right.
That's right.
But it's a good point that Johnny is now the underdog.
Yeah.
And Vidal is the rest.
And he'll have the, and if he wins, presumably, he'll have that redemption of that thing with
the tournament.
Right.
And literally, how did the show start in the first episode?
The first shot is Daniel Crane kicking him at the thing.
So, like, this is the only appropriate way to do this.
He's going to win with a crane kick.
Oh, how cool was that?
If that happens, I'm going to fall.
Seriously.
You've got to do it.
Can we create all the shots?
All right.
All right.
Anyway, yeah.
Any other stray thoughts before we boogie on to the final?
A great episode.
I'm sad and excited for the sex one.
Cobra cry, am I right?
I mean, probably I should get some tissues for this next episode.
Well, gang, thank you so much for joining us.
And, hey, yeah, we're going to.
Going on to the next one.
Tune in.
See you soon.
Guito.
Guito Galindo.
We don't know what your name means.
John,
he's going to take a guess,
and we're going to see who comes closer, okay?
Guito,
I think that means a giggly guy.
He's a giggly dude.
This is an ancient Irish name meaning giggly.
So, you know, he could be, like, having fun.
He could be gregarious.
he can be he can be
just uplifting positive
spirit you know that something like that so what do you think
Guido means I think it means
like like natural
like it reminds me of leaves and things
I'm gonna imagine that it means like some kind of
grotto yeah or something like that
all right Guito name meaning
enter what do we got
it may have multiple origins
Guido is what they
oh they don't even know your actual name
meaning here.
Uh, so they're going with Guido, which is a German name, which may come from old
high German name, Wildo, which means water forest.
What did you guess?
I got, I guess like leaves and, and nature things.
Oh, my God.
You've won every one of them.
I don't actually, I, because I don't know, it's encyclopedia what these names mean.
So I guess, uh, I'm glad that these blind guesses are going somewhere.
All right.
We're moving on.
It's my word nerd coming out.
Thank you.
