Andrew are you ready
Greg
Yes I'm ready
He's talking about his legs
I had my apple I had egg whites I held the yolk
I threw away the muffin I'm ready
You see yoke
Yoke yoke yoke
I hear my yoke
Yoke
Shit, but, blood in blood out.
The next one, which is a film starring.
Who is the guy in Dr. Strange, who he talked to when they were playing basketball?
Oh, that's Eric.
Eric.
Benjamin Brad.
Benjamin Brad, sorry, from Miss Congeniality and everyone's favorite comic book film, Catwoman.
Yep, that's what he's known for.
her those two movies and Damien Chappah are the ones in there.
Well, ladies and gentlemen, if you have been blessed with the amazing opportunity to listen
to us on Apple or Spotify, you're in luck because you already binged all a Cobra
Kai. You did not take time to reflect on any of the episodes. You just watch them all
in one session, but you're here with a group that is reflecting per episode.
We get granular around here.
Yes, yes, I do like Granville Cafe as a great restaurant in Studio City.
So let's kick this off.
Andrew.
Hey, Greg.
What did you think about this episode?
I think it was my favorite one so far.
Of the entire series?
Yes, of the entire series, Greg.
No, this part two.
But I will say I was really upset.
We didn't get that reference line from.
snakes on a plane when Johnny was on there.
I was really upset or any snakes on that plane, so I'm a little bit upset about that.
Andrew, literally the snake is the guy.
I, yes, I, I mean, I didn't make it clear in your commentary.
I just got to say, I think people will come at you in the comments.
But, you know, in reference to Karate Kid Part 2 is kind of the opposite effect because Mr.
Miyagi and Daniel are going to Okinawa where they are going to see Mr. Miyagi's father who's
sick and ailing, like where they're going to see Carmen, who's ailing and sick here.
So it was kind of the same effect there, but except Daniel, Daniel is kind of comforting Mr. Miyagi there, whereas here Johnny was not doing a good job of comforting Miguel, but then he did a good job later on the scene. That was one of the most touching scenes. Also, too, was a really, also, I will say this. It was one of the best moments in terms of their relationship, just really developing. Because we got that scene in season four where Johnny was really drunk.
And after, I believe it was after prom or junior prom, whatever it was,
Miguel came to him and said, he said, like, you're my dad or something like that.
And he said, yeah, I am Robbie or something like that.
I love you too, Robbie.
Thank you.
And it really broke.
Yeah, I love you, dad.
It really broke Miguel.
So it was nice for him to get that cathartic moment, like for both of them.
Actually, when he said, you're my son.
Like, it was just, it was really earned.
Beautiful moment.
That's, I think you pointed out.
It's one of my favorite things in this show is their relationship.
It all started with that.
really at the beginning of this show from season one.
Also, obviously, too, with Terry Silver,
clear reference to Karate Kid Part 3 in the bath.
What a great reveal and twist.
I did not see that coming.
I really did think it was crease as well as you guys.
But yeah, I would say that was probably my,
and also to Kim Dionne and Chosen.
I really, I love, I love that.
I really did feel for Chosen, felt bad for him with Comico,
whether it was a misunderstanding or whether she's just not interested in him.
um you know and he's really like you said become a lot more relatable since part two and just uh as as we've seen him from season three you did you said that
i want to give you credit gregg geez i don't want you to think like wow he's using my words
all the important points to talk about you established he said like you said and it could have been either one of us
like gregory said he has become a lot more relatable and i really again i think they've just done a very
organic job of developing his character and yes and also too you know in regards to kim dion's character
because we saw in the flashback uh you know in the beginning of part one of the season that she's had a
tough life you know being raised by her grandfather is not for the faint-hearted so it's nice to see her
to get a little bit of catharsis in chosen like uh you know that relationship even though it kind
it happened rather quickly.
Like, I love the way it happened, like, where they're fighting and at each other's
throats a little bit, and then, you know, they embrace each other.
I think it was done really well.
Oh, dude, these are all very, very strong points.
I love your emotionality here.
I love the conversation you have to spark.
But did you guys cry in that scene.
I want to know that.
He did.
I got a couple times this episode.
Oh, you did?
Good.
Yeah, John goes the job.
Yeah.
Did you turn that tear crank?
yeah he does have cabs
i agree does have calves he got a camera
that's how he cries he flexes his caps they
hell all my tears ducts are in my cabs
so i can only flex them at opportunity times
it's like an ivy of tears um
so
what did you think of this episode
thought it was devoid of emotion
it was kind of flat
there was nothing to really latch on to character wise
no this is absolutely one of the best episodes
that this chunk of the show has
produced certainly even despite all of the you know like chance run-ins across this vast city that
we're in but yeah the the each scene and each plot line and each development even though we don't
really have any tournament play this episode was really gripping and yeah there was a good blend of i mean
this is a tension episode for the most part because everyone's you know falling into you know either
They're losing themselves or being waylaid by somebody else.
But there's still like a lot of fun to the episode.
But the emotional beats all resonated and hit, especially with Miguel and Johnny.
And like those those turnarounds definitely got me.
Like you kind of, it's sort of untroddened territory for the show, which I thought was nice.
Part of me was like, I don't think they're going to kill Miguel's mom.
But at the same time, I was like, I don't know, you know, tragedy could strike.
Yeah.
Anything could happen.
And I like having that feeling of.
anything could happen. And, you know, ultimately by the end, like, everything is totally fine, which is cool. And now, you know, I wonder how, you know, it's a nice set of stakes. How are we going to return? How are we going to re-assimilate Miguel into the team now that Kenny is already on his way? And, you know, that whole showdown between him and Anthony and, and Miss, what's her name? Damn it. Mama Laruso. She's great. Amanda. Amanda, there you go. She's great.
loved her as the mediator
and
I see you over there
You said there was a nice pair of steaks
but there weren't any steaks
Louis Tan got rid of them
Louis Tan took all the stakes
Sorry I had right there were no stakes
Go ahead Greg
And she's like the kid in class
I'm gonna flesh this thing out
Anybody I got it I got it pick me
Kissism
I got it I got it I got
Teacher
It's okay I was that kid
You did the whole thing too
uh and he's second out you're good and he's like it down you're good Kenny and
he said that thing about stakes like 20 sentences ago that's right that we get this thing that's
right the state I had to let you finish uh I like the Anthony and Kenny uh you know
confrontation and I like that they gave Kenny a real opportunity to sit there and be like
hey just to acknowledge for the show to sit there for a minute and acknowledge like what
you know it's really hard to move past all the things that this character's been through
understandably so but that was good
And, yeah, just all the chaos out with the kids.
The only real gripe I have with this episode is that Hawk could have, could have, it's like, Dmitri is totally at fault here.
However, Hawk didn't have to be like, look at Dmitri.
Yeah, I agree.
But other than that, yeah, this is a great episode.
I love Chosen and Kim Dio, and I love that development.
So tickled.
I hope it continues in some fashion or form and the reveal at the end.
solid way to pull the rug
out from under us. Definitely had
us believing it was crease, which is
cool. So, you know,
I want to take every single
talking point. Gee, I see you have
a copious amount of notes.
So much. Yeah, all I did it was write character names.
Oh. Because I forget everyone's name.
Ah, good.
Which characters did you specify?
All of them, John. Every single
one of them. Well, what about your friend
from the internet who's got social media?
Oh, right now. Yeah, she's great.
she's got a 2.5 million she's amazing extra martial arts
social media follow her yeah you got to see her expert martial arts
I've just ever had that experience we're like oh shit someone who's like social media admire
for because I love like martial arts um I watch so many martial arts videos on social media
so there's I've never had that experience for like well shit this person I follow I've
I've seen that happen with other people where they follow someone on the internet and they've seen
them pop up in a show or movie and that's why I had the excited
there but anyway um yeah i know i thought that this episode seemed to be about accountability obviously
but also about how to accept defeat accepting defeat it can be a very difficult thing to move past
because part of accepting the feet can sometimes feel like accepting failure and accepting failure
is such an important thing to learn from to progress from and i think like robbie is such an
emblematic part of that theme in this episode of someone who is just falling apart like weirdly
enough as much as we complained about as much as primarily john who was complaining last
episode about how it was true it's true i couldn't get past it is strongly like stop looking at her
it's not that hard he was the one who wouldn't shut up about it and as much as he was complaining
about it was doing that's what robbie was doing to sam the number time he was in a fight scene
not sam what was her name tory tory yeah as much as that was happening now i'm like oh you know what
this kind of made more sense to see how much his spiral was actually going down even when he's
being faced against what's the main bad guy's name main main bad guy from cobra car yeah that's
name okay so main bad guy from cobra kai kohara kai um is is uh trying to intimidate him literally
put his arm around tory and then getting up in his face he's not fighting against him when
normally robbie might have put up a little bit of a of an angst to show him
he is willing to try to intimidate back, a little stare-down,
but clearly he's someone who's dealing with defeat.
And you got Miguel as well, who's, Miguel as well,
who's going to hell, going through hell.
Miguel who's dealing with his pain to defeat.
And same thing with Johnny and Johnny having to, again,
admit to his faults,
to how it just keeps expanding upon what happened last episode in the locker room.
And now he has to keep going through this,
like the ripple effect of consequences for the,
things that you might have handled wrong i think is really strong oh damn these bars don't
stop as they get in the cars may and uh kenny and anthony another one about the theme of accepting
defeat and kenny accepting defeat dealing with failures having to move on from these
certain preconceived notions and i loved the resolve that they come to there especially with
anthony coming around to like you know what i actually did start this and i do have a lot of responsibility
for ultimately what led to this rivalry
I am so at fault for this
the I get why you think it's me was good
yeah that was a really strong moment
to me as well and
and chosen and uh what's my
my only question is Anthony was going to shit his pants
in front of nobody so like
didn't really matter quite the same and I also like
too that Amanda has been like a mediator
uh you know for all these rivalries with Johnny and Daniel
with Tori and Sam with
Anthony and
He does emotional karate.
Yes.
Yeah.
Reject Nation.
I never really consider
myself a sports guy.
I know so many people
who are in this sports.
Some of people who watch this channel
are in the sports.
My wife,
into sports.
Sometimes it feels emasculating
while she yells at the TV
and I don't know what's going on.
Why that feels emasculating?
That's more to do with me than her.
That's for sure.
But anyway, the peer pressure
got me to find a way to find fun with sports.
And if you're looking for a fun
and simple way to get into daily fantasy sports,
let me introduce you to prize picks.
It's America's number one daily
fantasy app with over 5 million active members. And honestly, it's the only one I've ever used,
but for everyone who I know who has used fantasy sports thingies before says this is the easiest
one they've ever used. My wife included, and the misses is never wrong. All you do is pick
more or less on player stat projections. Like how many yards your favorite QB? That's not for
quarterback, by the way. We'll throw, or how many points a star player will score. You can pick
between two and six players, and if you get them right, you win. Even I can comprehend this. And
I'm not the smartest guy. And like I said, it's easy to get started and it's easy to
use. A lot of emphasis on the easy. Here's one easy example. So at the time of recording this,
we just bet on Jordan Love, Jaden Reed, and Joe Burrow. Consulted with John. John knows more
about sports than me. So really, this was his decision. So let's see if he take this whole
operation, or if we're filthy rich now. Great thing if one of your players ever gets injured.
Price picks has an injury insurance policy. I could use some health insurance in my own life.
So your lineup stay in play rhymes, bars, baby. And if you miss one pick, you can still cash out
thanks to their unique flex play option. It's available in
most states, including California, Texas, and Georgia.
You can download the Price Picks app today.
Use code Rejects and get $50 instantly when you play just $5.
There's a lot of fives in this shoutout.
$5, $50, $5 million members.
It's like the number 23.
But anyway, you don't even have to win to get the bonus.
Isn't that awesome?
Price Picks, run your game.
Get into Daily Fantasy Sports, like this expert over here.
Kim, Kim, Dion.
Yeah, Kim Dian.
I mean, I kind of feel, I like,
that Sam didn't seem like she had any affection
for the guy. I didn't think she had affection. Maybe
that'll change in the episode
or in the season. I like that she didn't have
affection for him. I feel like
it would be so late. I feel like to do in a
final season to introduce her
probably for yet another guy. I feel like
would be a little much in your final
season and you don't know what to write with her.
She hates Tori and she falls in love
with every guy. Like, don't do that.
So I appreciated the
friendship that form there
and then I think it's an
interesting student master
relationship that is that they're
showing with this dude
who like comes across as like the
the drawlish the show really loves the
Rocky franchise. They love
karate kid movies and they love the Rocky franchise like
literally and best of the best and best
of the best as well. Same director John G.
Ableton. Like I said this is like
Rocky 2 in the in the scene
and then they end it with literally
paid tribute to Rocky 2
with the whole win part and
and with
the guy who's
the Lewis Tan student
at first he seems like kind of just the drago
of the team but then he ends up having someone
with a little bit more soul and to
see this like abused relationship
and there's he's kind of like the biggest
indicator that oh my God he is like
he is part of the downline
of the Terry Silver students
which I did not predict
but I did mention Lewis
Tan is basically Terry Silver which is
almost like predicting it
yes see I thought he was going to say
If she doesn't kiss me, she dies.
Didn't happen.
You really?
You thought that?
That's what I thought he was going to.
I was waiting for it.
Me too.
You didn't think that?
Yeah.
Yeah, that was good.
She really was sending mixed signals, though, but.
Poor Axel.
Yeah.
I did feel bad for him.
I felt bad for him.
I didn't feel like she was leading him on.
No, she definitely wasn't leading a mom, but I could understand.
I kind of feel like, again, with the theme of accepting defeat,
I kind of think that Hawk intentionally did what he did.
I think there's a part of him that kind of was aware of what he was doing.
I could see it.
I could see that too.
And if that is the case, I like the choice more.
I think he would try to not think that he would try to sell himself that he's not doing that.
But I'm like, I don't know, man.
I've known plenty of dudes in my life.
I'm sure in a younger version of me probably would have felt and wanted to do the same thing, honestly,
if I was like in a jealous position like that.
I chose to do the right thing and you did it.
And now I feel vindicated and squealing on you.
Yeah. And now I'm stuck here being jealous while you're out here having fun with no consequences.
Like, I feel like there's a, as at that age, like I could totally see that being a purposeful thing.
Yeah.
And we're also at each other's next to for quite a few episodes up to that point.
Yeah, exactly.
With the whole MIT thing.
Yeah, 100%.
And then the last thing for Chosen and, uh, Kim Dayone.
A lot of times when you do that, I suddenly can feel.
like this feels like it came out of nowhere and weirdly it really works for this episode it actually
didn't feel like they're building a love story it felt like they're building like a sexual chemistry
story that's forming between them these two need a release and they need somebody who can kind
of understand their position in life yeah and i thought the build of it throughout it was nice and
like i said sometimes it feels like it came out of left field not this episode did not feel that way
at all uh weirdly work for something that i don't think any of us were anticipating would happen
and I'm glad that we're getting
additional layers to her
because while we did get that backstory
that sort of explained her
that you were referencing to
the way she was played still
was like the one-note cartoon villain
out of this is like
personal arts movies
let's do something different with her
yeah and this actually felt like
oh she's a full-fledged human now
I guess who is willing to be okay
with not playing dirty
right you know or at least only
so dirty
having a sense there was a line
apparently she has a line
yeah yeah uh yeah so
I thought this was a really strong
episode the silver was back
let's see if he has cancer like you predicted
yeah that was my prediction
because we saw he's getting chemotherapy
in that tub right there well
we saw we saw him in the hospital when
Johnny was him and Carmen were there
could have had a regular physical checkup
colonoscopy no he had appendicitis
he was dying I'm telling
he got new glasses my predictions are always wrong watch
Yeah, but yeah, Miguel and Johnny, favorite part of the show.
By far.
They're the heart.
For sure.
Someone who's had a couple of surrogate fathers in my life, I really think that that is a very powerful thing.
Andrew being number three.
Papa Andrew, for sure.
I think that's, I've always found them to be the best part of this show.
I like how they know how to bring it back to that core.
Anyway, guys, what did you think about Cobra Kai, season six, episode eight?
Leave your thoughts down below.
Did you cry?
Did you lie?
Have you ever been to Pizza Guy?
Tell us your thoughts in the comments below.
Andrew, any last words?
No, just excited for where we go the rest of the season.
So, wear your shorts and wear them high.
Yes.
Oh my God, you know who should fight with us at the Psyche-Tai Tai Chi?
Who's that?
The one guy here who actually does some martial arts.
Oh, snap.
I know who you're talking about.
Do you?
I do.
Because I feel like you don't.
No, I do.
I absolutely do.
What are talking about?
We're talking about David Ganty.
Now, thank God.
I was like, this is going to be an embarrassing shout out.
Yeah.
No, I know.
I know.
I'm not going to say, you have to make sure you look bad.
I debated for a moment if I was going to hijack the shout out by naming someone less likely.
But it's David.
Obviously, Dave, he's the only one we know that does martial arts here.
Yeah, David should start his own dojo.
I mean, think of it.
We could go to the psychics and karate.
He should do his own dojo.
Hey, that's enough by this show's metric.
He could train only white boats.
That's right.
That's right.
You need somebody to help you in those beginning states.
That's a school that specializes in getting you to yell at the basics.
Dude, that would be so great.
Because think about everyone's got to start a white belt.
That's true, exactly.
So, like, you know, you'll have an endless supply.
Plus, you can make partnerships with the various dojoes in your area, you know, funnel students where they need to go.
You can buy an annual membership that you only use for one month.
Yes, of course, because you're only going to be there for one month.
Hopefully.
I mean, that's the thing is you got to make your tutelage good, but not too good.
You want to keep those white belts gestating.
for at least that 12-month period.
A solid scam business here that you could totally pull off, David.
Yeah, you know, just take in, you know, needy and trusting young folks and, yeah, and mold them in your image.
That's what we're thinking.
But not too quickly, again.
I mean, we're thankful for you, David, because it's Thanksgiving.
Oh, hey.
And you've been, you've been here forever.
You have been one of the original Gandy.
Oh, G stands for original Gandy.
He's given us so many special gifts.
Not in a while, I'll point out for him to know that he's in a long time since you've actually given us like, oh, way, I'm losing your edge.
You've given us like an actual special gift.
Kids are coming up from behind.
You've kept a really solid financial pledge amount.
That's not the same, baby.
You want to measure your level of love towards us.
It's like giving cash Christmas.
He has been here since November 2017.
Oh, my goodness.
Seven years.
He's on a seven year.
Seven years, David.
Good thing we checked.
Thank you so much.
Seven year anniversary.
That's a lucky number.
That's a lucky year.
Anniversary.
Thank you.
David.
David, David, David, thank you.
Too much, man.
Thank you, David.
You're too good to us, David.
Thank you, David.
Happy anniversary to you, buddy.
Thanks for being here for so long.
And may your con artist Jordan Belford
Karate Scheme pan out well.
Sinsavid.
Thank you.
